Better be careful.

In today’s society, there are more and more men with ulterior motives—traditionalists, reformists, neutralists, chaos advocates—all of them incomprehensible.

She didn’t believe in those factions, but as a woman, she had to stay vigilant.

Captain Li cautiously approached one of the hidden cameras, inspecting it carefully. She found no other mechanical devices nearby. It seemed these were installed purely for surveillance.

Moreover, the cameras were positioned in extremely tricky spots, making their installation quite troublesome. They didn’t appear to be set up by the residents of this house.

So, was this man actually the victim?

Captain Li’s expression grew more serious as her eyes swept across the room, clearly detecting numerous unusual red dots.

These were special lenses called “Mechanical Eyes,” capable of observing fine details in most mechanical structures and detecting various wavelengths emitted by electronic devices.

It was precisely because of these eyes that she had secured her position as security captain.

Twenty thousand a month, complete control over her schedule—all she had to do was patrol and protect the neighborhood on time.

She didn’t want to lose such a cushy job over something like this.

Captain Li finally turned her gaze toward the bedroom.

The door showed signs of being opened, and the living room bore traces of being rummaged through and then restored. Yet, no concrete clues were left behind, nor was there any clear indication of what the intruder had been searching for.

She moved closer to the bedroom, listening carefully.

    Silence.

    Not a single sound.

Captain Li glanced back at Lin Yi and noticed the man was also staring at the bedroom, phone in hand. Someone seemed to be speaking to him, his expression both wary and peculiar.

Who was on the other end?

Captain Li slowly pushed the door open—

    “Lin Yi, surprise!”

Lin Yi heard a scream through Shen Xixi’s call—and at the same time, an echo in his ears, as if the sound had doubled.

    Then—

    BANG!!

    “Ah—!!”

Lin Yi’s eyes widened as he watched the 1.8-meter-tall, muscle-bound Captain Li—who could’ve outmatched Ronnie Coleman—get slammed onto the floor by a white blur, shattering the coffee table on impact.

“Xiao Yi, you don’t actually like this type, do you?”

Shen Xixi giggled deliriously, her white dress fluttering like a 👿 as she fixed Lin Yi with a deathly stare.
