Chapter Index

Just because it’s a festival where everyone is laughing and having fun doesn’t mean everyone can have fun and relax.

For safety, someone had to take on the role of organizing people and maintaining order.

In simple terms, a security guard.

And in the circle, the student council took on that annoying but important role.

    First of all-

“Flying Club, you are being given a 1-time warning for flying more recklessly than permitted. If you receive 3 warnings, your booth may be demolished, so please be careful.”

Even if it’s only one, a warning is a warning.

So in these situations, the club would often show their opposition to the instructions by muttering and rebelling or making excuses.

    “Yes, yes! I understand!”

Well, since the person who brought it up is a human, no complaints of that kind have been received so far.

“Then, thank you for your hard work.”

Rias Vermillion left a few ceremonial words with a smile as she walked away.

It seemed strange at first that she, the student council president of the circle, was personally patrolling like this, but there was nothing she could do about it.

“Hey, newbie! It’s dangerous, get out of there! Think of yourself first!”

“Put the things on the table away right now! If the student council president comes patrolling our side, you’ll take responsibility?!”

Just by her lightly walking around and patrolling, she was able to prevent countless accidents from occurring in the area.

“As expected, the young lady is very popular.”

    “That’s not praising, that’s teasing.”

After finishing her patrol, Rias, who had pulled her hat down to hide her identity, spoke with a sullen expression.

“And Yorbi, I told you not to call me Miss.”

    “Yes, sorry.”

The vice president of the student council of the circle, Yorbi Selene, who was walking a few steps behind Rias, bowed her head slightly as she spoke.

The calm voice and expressionless face did not seem like the appearance of someone apologizing.

However, Rias only let out a light sigh and didn’t hold onto that part or argue about it.

Because I had known her for a long time since I was little, as a maid and a master, I knew very well that Yorbi’s stern expressionless face, along with her silver bob hair, were important elements that made up her.

Well, to begin with, it was just a little prank, so Yorbi didn’t really apologize or anything.

“By the way, the exhibition seems to be more noisy than I expected. It seems like there are a lot more people than last year.”

“There’s nothing I can do. It’s already known how great the new students who came in this time are.”

These freshmen are overflowing with all sorts of talents, to the point where they are nicknamed the “golden generation.”

Even now, various clubs are raising their voices in an attempt to attract just a little more of these attractive new students.

Visitors from each guild were also busy going around here and there to check them out for themselves.

“Certainly… …the number of people trying to get you to join a guild seems to have doubled compared to last year.”

    Towering-

At Yorubi’s words, Rias stopped walking without realizing it.

Yorbi, who saw him, tilted his head expressionlessly.

    “Miss, is there a problem?”

“I told you not to call me Miss.”

    Again-

“It’s okay, it’s nothing, so don’t worry about it.”

After saying that, Rias quickly moved her feet as if she had never stopped.

It was partly to avoid the suspicious eyes of Yorbi, but also to sort out his complicated inner feelings.

‘Ugh, what if the person I’m after is also being invited to join another guild like those kids?’

After realizing that there was a master of stealth among the circle’s new students who had not revealed his identity, Rias worked with all her might to find and recruit him.

Well, most of that effort was just following Han Si-yeon around secretly to gather information, but it was rewarding.

‘I’m sure you two said you were going to meet and spar.’

Rias’s eyes deepened as she recalled the words that Han Si-yeon had been muttering to herself out loud while gathering her spirit.

‘I haven’t heard exactly when we’ll be sparring, but I’m sure it’ll be sometime soon, maybe this week.’

    Kook-

‘That’s the moment to recruit that person.’

I will somehow capture that talent and bring him over to my side!

When Rias was burning her will while making that pledge.

    Woohoo-

The device on her wrist beeped softly.

    ‘What? An unknown number?’

Rias looked at the screen for a moment, puzzled, and then answered the phone.

    “Yes, who are you?”

-Is this Rias Vermillion, the student council president of the Circle?

“… … It seems like you didn’t contact me with good intentions.”

Rias answered in a subdued voice as a strangely distorted voice, like the growling of a tiger, rang in her ears.

    -Well, I don’t know.

“What are you trying to say?”

-I’m sorry, but I think we should meet and talk about that.

“That’s funny. Is there any reason why I should meet you?”

The opponent on the other side of the device lightly responded to Rias’ cold voice.

-The lives of the students in the circle, is that enough of a reason?

“Haa… …Okay, tell me the location.”

At Rias’s sigh, the man on the other end of the phone briefly stated the location of the place and told her to come alone before hanging up.

    “Miss, right now that’s… … ”

    “It’s okay, it’s nothing.”

Rias replied to Yorubi’s worried voice and then quickly placed her hand on the hilt of the sword at her side.

“Just wait here, I’m just going to clean up some trash.”

Rias ordered Yorubi to stand by in case something happened, and then went to the place she had heard about on the phone.

The place I walked to was an alley filled with dark shadows like night, even though it was daytime and the sun was out, between buildings.

    “You’re here.”

At the end of it all stood a man wearing a mask shaped like the mouth of a black tiger, covering the lower part of his face, and wearing an ominous, billowing black coat.

“It showed up easier than I thought.”

It was an ominous sight, but Rias spoke confidently in front of him.

A shining appearance like the sun.

“I thought he would naturally hide since he is a scoundrel who threatens women.”

“I was going to do that, but I stopped. If I disappear, you won’t focus on the conversation because you’ll be looking for me, even though I can’t be found.”

    “Huh?”

Rias snorted lightly and placed her hand on her sword.

    Hwaruruk-

At the same time, several fireballs rose behind her, illuminating the dark alley.

“I don’t know who you are, but you seem to have a lot of confidence?”

“I can’t say I was confident. I was just stating the truth.”

Rias clicked her tongue inwardly at the man’s indifferent answer.

‘You don’t even blink an eye even though I’m provoking you to this extent… ‘

Looking at that sight, I couldn’t help but admit it.

‘He is definitely a skilled person who is above me.’

At first glance, the man in front of her was clearly an assassin.

And while assassins are threatening enough to kill even the most powerful people when they are hiding in the dark, once they show up, their power is reduced by more than half.

Even though she could not have not known him, the man in front of her did not hesitate to reveal himself.

As if he was confident that he could easily take down someone like him, whether he showed up or not.

And chances are good that he wasn’t bluffing.

    Gulp-

‘This guy… … What the heck is he? No, but is he even a real person?’

Rias felt goosebumps running down her spine the entire time they were talking.

Can you tell the difference in skill?

Even though I could clearly see with my own two eyes that it was standing right in front of me, I couldn’t feel anything.

Feeling as if she was talking to a non-existent ghost or her own shadow on the wall, Rias gripped the handle of her weapon tightly.

“I don’t think we’ll have much time, so let’s get to the point quickly.”

The man opened his mouth calmly, not knowing whether he knew Rias’ thoughts or not.

“First of all, I am not your enemy.”

Of course, if that were the case, I would already be dead.

“Huh, you speak so well despite wearing such a suspicious mask.”

Rias snorted as she thought that to herself.

Because, whether the opponent was stronger or weaker than him, he couldn’t lose momentum.

“If you want to say that you are my ally, take off your mask first and show me your face.”

“I am not your enemy, nor am I your ally.”

It means that you have no intention of taking off your mask.

Rias didn’t say those words with great expectations, so she didn’t show much regret.

“Huh, good. Then, why did you, who are neither an enemy nor an ally, call me here?”

“I think you already told me about that on the phone?”

“So! The students’ lives are in danger! What exactly does that mean?”

The man responded to Rias’s annoyed words in a calm voice.

“A large-scale terrorist attack will occur within the circle this evening.”

    “Terrorism?”

Rias narrowed her eyes as if she was dumbfounded.

Because inside the circle, numerous security devices were operating 24 hours a day, blocking any intrusion by mines or villains.

Even if you managed to enter the circle for some reason, there was no problem.

Now that the professors of the Circle and even officials from various guilds have gathered, carrying out an act of terrorism would be no different from committing suicide by asking for my death.

“Why are you telling me that?”

Besides that, there were countless other things she could have said to refute the man’s words, but instead of listing them all out, Rias decided to start by agreeing with the man’s words.

There was no reason to bring up something obvious and linger on the other person’s words.

“Because it’s more convenient for me that way.”

After saying that, the man pointed with his finger towards the wall next to her.

Rias glanced over there and saw a piece of paper stuck in there.

“I wrote down the names of some of the guys who are going to commit terrorism on that piece of paper. If you investigate the guys listed there, you will naturally know whether what I am saying is true or not.”

Rias was suspicious of the man’s words, but she unfolded the paper and checked the contents.

    “This is… … !”

Then he opened his eyes wide and was shocked.

The man was slightly surprised by Rias’ reaction.

“What, you just saw the names of the guys on the list and figured out what they had in common without me having to explain it to you?”

    Rias nodded reflexively.

But in fact, that wasn’t why she was surprised now.

    Trembling-

Rias’s eyes trembled violently as she looked at the man in front of her.

It wasn’t a tremble of fear.

‘Could this be… the new student who’s good at stealth that I’ve been looking for?’

It was a thrill of joy, an excitement at the unexpected good fortune that had come.
