Chapter Index

Once the second Commander of the Demon King’s Army, now claiming to be the new Demon King, Elder Lich had long forgotten her original name.

In the Demon World, it was clear who the term Elder Lich referred to.

Shee had pursued knowledge relentlessly, eventually stepping into forbidden territory, and by obtaining immortality and summoning undead, she had created her own legion. There was only one such being in the world.

So, Elder Lich believed that if she used all her strength to fight, even if she couldn’t become the Demon King, there would be no one in the Demon World who could rival her. In addition to her countless undead army, she also had her own formidable power.

There was no question that she could single-handedly destroy the human world.

It was only because of the Demon King’s intention to weed out the weak through war, and because the result of that intention was the upward equalization of all demons, and because the Demon King’s personal power was too great, that she had submitted.

So, Elder Lich believed that now that the Demon King was dead, this was her most opportune moment to succeed her and become the rightful ruler of the Demon World.

The magic she had used on Mira Crate, sharing each other’s memories and transferring deaths, was originally created to subdue the Sword Saint.

    But.

‘What is this… What is this…?’

Elder Lich reached out to the corpse in front of her. The frail, slender fingers of a female demon slowly stroked the scaled body of a large corpse.

    ‘It’s not a wyvern… Then…’

At first,s he thought it was a wyvern, or perhaps she wanted to believe it was. But the strength of the scales and the size of the body made it clear that it wasn’t a wyvern.

This was the corpse of a dragon. A dragon slightly smaller than Meligor.

Mahbat had been abnormally large and powerful, and Meligor was also quite large for a dragon. It was only because there were so few dragons left that there was no comparison.

Yet, the corpse of a dragon slightly smaller than Meligor was scattered everywhere as far as the eye could see. Elder Lich had never seen such a shocking sight.

‘What… What kind of powerful being could do this…?’

A vague emotion welled up within her, but Elder Lich didn’t understand what kind of emotion it was.

She had abandoned her emotions when she delved into forbidden magic, and it had been too long since she last felt them, so long that she couldn’t even remember their names. She had discarded all traces of her past as a mere woman.

Elder Lich, or rather, the frail female demon, led her trembling legs and hands over the dragon’s corpse. It took a considerable amount of time and effort for this frail body to do even that.

    ‘This is ridiculous…’

An unimaginable sight unfolded. The dragon’s corpse was scattered everywhere, as if it had been torn apart in all directions. And each of those pieces was powerful enough to overwhelm the Demon King’s Army on its own.

Elder Lich was shocked beyond words. She discovered something. A dragon that was still half-alive, and a human slowly walking towards it.

The human, with a body half-melted and burnt, dragged a sword along the ground and stabbed it into the dragon’s reverse scale. The last remaining dragon powerless lowered its head.

With that, the world was swept away by the flow of memories. The frail female demon closed her eyes, not wanting to be swept away by the flow, and curled up her body. When the flow subsided, she slowly opened her eyes.

And she was shocked by the sight of the world.

    ‘These are…’

They were ogres, but not ogres.

They were trolls, but not trolls.

They were orcs, but not orcs.

They were werewolves, but not werewolves.

The corpses of demons that looked 1.5 times bigger and stronger than the demons she knew were piled up to form mountains and layers, blocking out the moonlight.

A river of blood flowed next to them, and next to that, a tower made of weapons and armor stood. She couldn’t even begin to imagine how many corpses were piled up in those mountains.

    “How… How…”

She exclaimed in shock for what felt like the hundredth time. Could this really be the same low-level demon?

On top of the highest mountain, Mira Crate, with a particularly large ogre’s neck in his hand, tore it apart as if it were leather and muscle.

Once again, the flow of memories continued. The space changed. her hearing reacted before her sight, and she turned towards the sound. A battle that could only be described as mythical was unfolding.

A creature with the lower half of a centipede and the upper half of a demon, with six arms and three heads, each hair a giant snake, larger than a dragon, was emitting light.

One head spewed lightning, one fire, and one ice, and countless snake heads spewed toxic fog, while the arms unleashed endless destruction.

The unknown creature put strength into its arms. A mountain next to it was pulled out of the ground and thrown towards the creature’s head, only to be blown to pieces in an unbelievable speed.

And in less than a second, it was shattered.

    “……”

Elder Lich’s eyes couldn’t keep up with what was happening. She couldn’t understand what had just happened. She could barely comprehend that the mountain had been reduced to human-sized fragments in the blink of an eye.

Amidst the rain of soil, rocks, and wood chips, a blue light flashed. It was Mira Crate again, leaping through the fragments with a broken sword in one hand.

Lightning spewed from his mouth, turning the dragon’s breath into a mere water stream. Mira Crate casually swung his sword, not bothering to dodge.

The space that spewed lightning was shattered. The blow that tore apart space absorbed the strike that would have torn apart the space.

But the monster only suffered a minor injury. Its face broke into a wide grin, and the centipede’s legs began to move.

Just by moving its legs, the ground cracked, creating a huge canyon. Everything it touched collapsed into the endless depths below.

    “Tha… tha…!”

Elder Lich felt her head spinning. It felt like all her common sense was being denied. What was this memory? And who was this human?

Being connected to Mira Crate’s memories meant that not only had he survived against all these enemies, but he had defeated them all.

One of them would have been enough to destroy the Demon World and fight the Demon King on equal footing. Mythical monsters that seemed beyond the capabilities of the Demon World, and demons that didn’t even seem like demons. He had faced them all.

    “It can’t be… It can’t be a mere human… I can’t believe it…”

Elder Lich desperately struggled with the frail female demon’s limbs, trying to break free from the flow of memories. She felt that if she stayed any longer, she would lose and give up everything.

The problem was that it was impossible. There was only one way to end this magic, which she had developed specifically for the Sword Saint: for one of the two connected minds to break and disappear.

    “No… No, it can’t be…”

Even in her despair, the memories continued to flow.

The space changed, and Mira Crate appeared again. He was locked in a stalemate with a monster that didn’t seem any less formidable than the previous one, their swords clashing. The ground beneath their feet couldn’t withstand the force and split in two.

The space changed again, and Mira Crate appeared once more. This time, he was facing a monster that didn’t seem any less formidable than the previous, previous, and previous ones, engaging in a magical battle that shook the earth.

The space changed again, and again, and again…

    “!!!!!!!”

The frail female demon let out a silent scream and collapsed to the ground. Through the shared memories, she instinctively realized something.

Mira Crate, who had effortlessly sliced through Death Knights before entering this place, had not yet unleashed his full power.

The original form of Mira Crate, which even he himself did not fully recognize, was sleeping deep within his soul, along with a part of his memories, and was slowly leaking out due to the loosened seal.

As a result, his power had been increasing without him even realizing it. Probably, it would continue to grow stronger. After all, it was his original power.

    “This can’t continue… This can’t go on…”

An undead army of tens of millions? If he took a few more steps, it wouldn’t be tens of millions, but hundreds of millions that would melt and disappear. This was beyond the capabilities of the demons of this world.

For some reason, these demons, who seemed to be inherently larger and stronger, like a different species altogether, couldn’t defeat this and became mountains of corpses.

    Impossible to win.

The frail female demon shed tears from her eyes. She curled up her legs and trembled. The frail female demon shuddered.

Elder Lich continued to flow through the memories, unable to break free. Another world unfolded. Tears filled the eyes that surveyed the surroundings.

The frail female demon screamed from the depths of her heart at the sight of Elder Lich’s corpses covering the vast plain. Elder Lich, in the form of goblins, lay dead and scattered in a pathetic and miserable state.

Elder Lich, standing among the corpses, realized what she was feeling.

    Fear.

    .

    .

    .

    “……”

I opened my eyes, determined not to casually use someone else’s magic after interpreting it, as the results were completely different from when Elder Lich had used it.

I saw a ceiling I had never seen before. It was truly a ceiling I had never seen before. I looked around. A two-person bed with white sheets and curtains that seemed to isolate the surroundings.

    ‘Is this a quarantine room?’

I sat up and leaned against the bed, looking down. My body was fine. There didn’t seem to be any injuries. Instead, my clothes had been changed to a slightly cleaner uniform.

    -Kwajangchang!

I turned to the side, wondering who had changed my clothes, when I saw the Chairman holding a tray, her eyes wide with shock. Her body trembled.

    ‘Her eyes are wide open.’

I didn’t know how long I had been asleep, but this wasn’t a good sign. I smiled as if I were perfectly fine and waved my hand.

    “Uh… I woke up… Cough!”

“Child! My child… You’re awake! Thank goodness! I’m so relieved…”

The Chairman rushed towards me, her eyes wide with shock, and hugged me. My head was buried between her breasts, which were much larger than my head. Her arms wrapped around me, as if she were about to suffocate me.

    ‘I knew this would happen.’

I wasn’t surprised because I had expected it. I hugged her back and used physical enhancement to flip our positions. In an instant, I was on top, and she was lying on the bed.

I looked down at her from a dominating position, and the Chairman, startled, let go of my arms.

“Ah, child…? Why are you doing this suddenly…?”

“I’m fine. You don’t have to react as if I’m some dying person.”

    “Well, yes… Yes. I’m sorry.”

I stood on the floor. The Chairman hugged her chest with one arm and slowly sat up. As she did, she kept glancing at me with lingering concern, so I sat next to her.

    “How long was I asleep?”

“About six hours. I was so worried. What if you never woke up… What if you never woke up… What if…?”

The Chairman’s eyes welled up with tears.

“……I would have taken the sleeping child to a place where no one lived, and I would have waited by his side for the rest of my life, taking care of him… That would have been the only atonement I could offer…”

    “……”

    Atonement?

I was never supposed to die in the first place, but now I had another reason not to faint or fall asleep and return to the Academy.

“By the way, where’s Elder Lich? Did you let her get away?”

Since I had shared memories with hwe, I could confidently say that the possibility of that happening was almost non-existent.

After all, the fact that I had woken up meant that Elder Lich’s mind had somehow managed to hold on. It was a magic specifically designed for the Sword Saint, where one of the two connected minds had to break and die.

“Don’t worry. I brought her, of course.”

    “You brought her?”

For a moment, I was puzzled by the choice of words, but the Chairman walked briskly and opened the curtains next to him.
