Twin Okam (2)
by Shini
The Twin Okam, named bosses of the Bandit Raid Event, appeared, delivering their lines meant for the Hero.
With the appearance of the named brothers-the elder an Axe Expert and the younger a Sword Expert-Ethan and I tensed slightly, gripping our weapons and taking our stances.
‘I knew a named boss would appear in today’s event, but why on earth did these guys show up here…?’
If they were to appear, it should have been towards Gyeotmwa Jyosyegigot, the main boss of this Bandit Raid Event.
For them to perceive us as enemies and appear, instead of the Hero who should have drawn stronger aggro, was simply illogical no matter how I thought about it.
Feeling that something was amiss, I shifted my gaze towards the Hero Party, but what met my eyes was yet another burly man. It was the moment I was forced to confirm with my own eyes that something was going wrong.
“From here to there. This field is the land of I, Bandit King Hyuma-nim. To have settled on my land, does that mean you are all ready to become my slaves?”
The colossal spearman, Bandit King Hyuma, stood nearly 3 meters tall.
Seeing that a named boss had appeared on the Hero’s side as well, I couldn’t help but feel a considerable amount of bewilderment.
‘Damn it, this shit again….’
Previously, in the Witch’s Forest, when I went to complete Lara’s Secret event, Moonlight Wolves and a Roaring Crescent Moon Bear had appeared simultaneously. Now, a similar phenomenon was occurring.
Seeing that named bosses, which should only appear one type per event, were appearing in duplicates again, it was clear that something was operating differently in this world compared to the game world.
‘Given that The Hero is tied up over there, it’ll be hard to expect any help….’
Ultimately, it meant Ethan and I had to deal with these twins ourselves… To be honest, it was a considerably difficult task for the two of us to handle.
‘Ethan is a Sword Expert in his own right, so if I leave the younger one to him, he might be able to manage….’
The problem was that if that happened, I’d have to face the elder brother, the Axe Expert.
Facing an Expert, and trying to block that axe with just a dagger, was practically suicide, so clashing swords and axes here was impossible.
At least the elder brother, who wielded an axe, was a bit less agile, so if I created distance and attacked from afar, it wouldn’t be entirely impossible to deal with him, but….
“Brother Okam, who’s your type?”
“Men. You can have the women, Okam.”
“Alright. I’m not into men anyway.”
The problem was that it wasn’t Ethan and I who decided who fought whom, but those guys.
If they decided to each take one of us, it was better to play along rather than try to switch opponents.
It was better to fight them one-on-one like this than to let the Twin Okam team up and face their combined assault.
In any case, according to their preferences, I had no choice but to take on the Sword Expert, and Ethan the Axe Expert. As they were not easy opponents, both Ethan and I had to maintain maximum tension while facing them.
“Young Master, please show me your sword.”
“Okay.”
“Forge it with mana. O Sharp Blade.”
“…Thank you, Lilith.”
“I wish you good fortune, Young Master Ethan.”
At the same time, Ethan and I, as if by prior agreement, fled in opposite directions, creating distance.
As soon as the one-on-one battle began, where not a single moment of tension could be relaxed, the twins each lunged their massive bodies towards me and Ethan.
It wasn’t a particularly favorable matchup, but it was a situation we had to deal with somehow.
Our role, Ethan’s and mine, was to somehow manage the situation as best as possible given the circumstances.
‘For now, I’ll focus on buying as much time as possible and wait for the Hero Party to defeat their named boss first and then come to assist us.’
If their party’s attention was drawn in the middle of the fight, the Hero’s side could also be in danger, so until then, we both had to manage somehow.
The one with the axe and the one with the sword chased after Ethan and me respectively. Judging that closing the distance would do no good, I quickly propelled myself backward with a tailwind and shockwave, then used Arcane Arrow towards the one with the sword.
“Rage forth! O Arrow of Magic!”
-Whoosh!
Three Arcane Arrows flew towards the younger Okam as Triple Casting was performed.
I hadn’t entirely given up hope that at least one of the three shots would hit, but as expected, a low-level magic like Arcane Arrow posed no threat to a Sword Expert.
-Clang!
“What, you can use magic too? Or was swordsmanship always your secondary skill?”
“……”
Okam approached, calmly swinging his sword as if my use of magic was no big deal.
There was still a chance he thought I could only use low-level magic, so this might be my opportunity.
It was best to use every card I had to defeat him before he considered me a true threat.
‘Sally, Flame Explosion. Sei, support.’
‘Got it!’
‘…Okay.’
At my request, Sally created a massive fireball, and Sei assisted by blowing wind magic into it.
And at its core was the shockwave I had deployed, so the massive fireball flew straight and fast towards Okam.
-KABOOM!!
The moment it touched the body of the younger Okam, who was rushing towards me with his sword, it exploded and shattered into pieces.
‘I couldn’t have defeated him with that… right?’
Knowing the Twin Okam’s HP in the original game, I never expected it to end with just that.
-Thump, thump, thump.
“……”
As expected, Okam walked out from the flames of the Flame Explosion, cutting through them with his sword.
He was a guy who could practically nullify most magic with just that one sword, which meant I also had to defeat him with my sword somehow.
I, who had just begun my initiation into Sword Expert, against him, who had long since reached Sword Expert.
“Seeing that you can even use elemental magic, you must be quite skilled among mages, huh?”
“……”
“Good. I’ve always wondered how mages cry. All the women I’ve captured so far were either weaklings with no power, or arrogant girls who thought they were hot stuff just because they could swing a sword clumsily.”
-Slurp.
…Fuck.
This fucked-up eroge worldview. Why on earth did I have to transmigrate into a world like this?
A pig bastard whose explicit goal was to do fucked-up things with his dick was leisurely approaching me, and I felt goosebumps all over my body, but I couldn’t just run away.
If I ran away from this situation alone, the younger Okam would eventually go to help his brother, who was fighting Ethan, and as Ethan’s Exclusive Maid, I couldn’t put my master in danger.
Setting my minimum goal as enduring as much as possible so as not to be a burden to Ethan, and my maximum goal as somehow killing this guy and going to help Ethan, I began the Swordsmanship Duel with the younger Okam.
-Clang!
“What, you’ve given up on running now? You’re suddenly charging in?”
“…I never ran, you fucking pig bastard. I just avoided your disgusting face. Like your mother.”
“You have a cute face, but your mouth is quite foul!”
-Clang!
“Urgh…!!”
“I’m curious to see how far you can be so insolent! So don’t die, okay?”
The younger Okam swung a sharply forged Longsword violently with one hand, sending a sword strike my way.
It was a simple, trashy swordsmanship with no fundamentals whatsoever, but precisely because of that, it moved in an unpredictable manner as he approached.
Moreover, the gorilla-like strength bursting from the muscles within that mass of fat possessed enough power to overwhelm me by its mere presence. With every clash of swords, I couldn’t help but realize that I was being pushed back in every aspect.
-Clang! Clang! Clang!
“Hahaha! Yes! Keep blocking like that! It’s no fun for me if you fall too quickly!!”
For several minutes, I somehow managed to block or evade Okam’s excited sword swings with my two daggers, trying to buy time.
I wanted to focus solely on enduring the rapidly accumulating fatigue in my arms and buying time… but what broke my concentration wasn’t the younger Okam in front of me.
-Thwack!
“Aaaaargh!!”
“……Huh?”
While I was desperately holding my own against the younger Okam, Ethan’s scream echoed from a little distance away.
With a flicker of my eyes, I shifted my gaze towards him, and there stood Ethan, barely on his feet, clutching his bleeding right shoulder.
‘……Huh?’
“Ugh, haa, haa, haa….”
…The injury I saw on Ethan in that instant was enough to shatter the concentration I had barely managed to maintain.
