The Saint’s Weekend
by Afuhfuihgs
1.
A dead person has returned.
Unbelievable.
I’ve seen Dark Wizards turn corpses into Undead, making them wander the streets like people, but I’ve never heard of a dead person being reborn.
I still can’t believe it.
But the more I talked to the girl in front of me, the more convinced I became that she was Adrean.
“I’ve seen a lot in my life, but this is a first.”
Madin chuckled in disbelief.
From Sword Saint to Saintess.
What a tumultuous life.
I knew he was eccentric, but I didn’t know he was this eccentric.
“What about the smithy at Vulcan Volcano? Why are you at the academy?”
Elia, who was looking around Madin’s workshop, asked.
“When I told you to come to the capital, you told me to get lost.”
Elia looked at Madin with her bright eyes.
I really can’t get used to it.
That busty, beautiful girl was the same guy I used to bathe with in the hot springs.
“This is perfect timing.”
“What is?”
“There’s something I want to show you.”
“To me?”
Elia blinked her eyes.
“Follow me.”
Madin got up from his seat and left the workshop.
He left the workshop and went up to the second floor.
Madin’s bedroom was on the second floor.
“Why the bedroom?”
A bedroom reeking of bachelorhood.
Various weapon blueprints were scattered haphazardly on the floor.
On the bed with the rumpled blankets, there was a pair of carelessly discarded underwear.
“Don’t tell me this bastard…!”
Elia felt a sudden chill.
Elia hugged herself protectively.
“Hey, even if I haven’t had a date in 100 years, don’t forget. I may be a woman now, but I’m still a man at heart.”
Madin cursed, dumbfounded by Elia’s disgusted reaction.
“You’re the one who should have your head smashed on an anvil, what nonsense are you spouting!”
Madin clicked his tongue.
“That’s not what you meant?”
“Even if I’m senile, I wouldn’t lay a hand on you, you crazy bastard.”
“Never mind then.”
“How can she act as a Saintess with that in her head… tsk tsk.”
Elia sat on the bed.
There was nowhere else to sit besides the bed.
“So, what is it you wanted to show me?”
Elia rocked back and forth.
“This.”
Madin brought over a long wooden box.
He opened the wooden box.
Inside was a sword.
A blade with a shimmering blue light, like a blue moon.
Elia’s round face was reflected in the well-polished blade.
‘Take me.’
The sword spoke.
It had a rather arrogant tone.
“Can I hold it?”
Madin nodded, as if telling her to feel free.
As if drawn by some force, the sword’s hilt pulled Elia’s hand.
The tip of her finger touched the sword’s hilt.
A jolt.
The tip of her finger stung as if pricked by a thorn.
Gulp.
She swallowed hard once.
Elia grabbed the sword’s hilt.
“Ugh…!”
The moment she grabbed the sword’s hilt, Magical power began to drain from her right hand.
It sucked it in with terrifying force, as if daring her to resist.
Alright, let’s see who wins.
Elia held the sword with both hands.
Already, half of her Magical power was gone.
As her Magical power rapidly depleted, her head throbbed and sparks flew in her eyes.
The sparks, twinkling like stardust, turned her vision white.
10 seconds.
20 seconds.
30 seconds.
Madin was impressed.
As expected, she’s amazing.
Other people couldn’t even last 5 seconds holding that sword.
As a minute passed.
-Clang
Elia dropped the sword and staggered as if about to faint.
“Kugh…!”
She bent one knee to barely stop herself from falling.
Elia gasped for breath.
Her whole body was drenched in sweat, as if she had worked out hard for an hour in just one minute.
She brushed the hair stuck to her cheek and slowly stood up.
“Hah… hahaha… you made something interesting, didn’t you?”
Elia looked at the sword.
It gestured to Elia as if it still wasn’t satisfied, even after sucking up so much Magical power.
“Extermia.”
Madin said, throwing her a towel.
“That’s the name of this sword.”
Madin used tongs to pick up the sword and put it back in the wooden box.
“I came down from the volcano to find the sword’s owner.”
He was surprised himself.
To think that even Adrean would struggle with it.
He seriously wondered if he had created a Demon Sword.
“I originally made it as a gift for you, but it seems too much for you.”
“Give it to me.”
“What?”
“Give it to me.”
Her competitive spirit was ignited.
It felt like the sword was mocking her.
‘You can’t even handle this? What a loser.’
That’s the feeling she got.
“You can’t even hold it properly, what are you talking about.”
“You’ll see.”
“If you mess up, you’ll be in big trouble from Mana Depletion.”
“What if I get in big trouble? Mana Depletion happened all the time on the battlefield.”
Of course, it was always a huge pain in the ass.
“You made it for me anyway, right? Then I can take it, can’t I?”
She wanted to tame that sword no matter what.
It reminded her of the old days.
Sword of the Wind Spirit, Zephyr.
Her competitive spirit was ignited like this when she tamed it too.
I wonder where it is in the Demon Realm now?
She lost it while fighting a Legion Commander of the Demon Lord Army on the battlefield.
“Got it? I’m taking it?”
“Do whatever you want. You wouldn’t listen even if I stopped you.”
“You know me well.”
Elia wrapped the sword’s hilt with bandages from the shelf.
She grabbed the sword in that state.
Magical power didn’t drain away like before.
“That makes it just an ordinary iron sword.”
Extermia’s true power lies in absorbing Magical power and releasing it.
It was made so that it could be used that way when the sword was crafted.
I haven’t been able to confirm yet whether I can properly use that ability though…….
“I know. I have to do this when I carry it around.”
It would be troublesome if Magical power drained away if she grabbed the sword’s hilt carelessly.
“Don’t you have a scabbard?”
“Wait a minute.”
Madin went down to the workshop on the first floor and quickly made a scabbard.
It didn’t even take 10 minutes.
“Hey.”
“What?”
“Don’t tell anyone about this.”
“I won’t. Would I say anything when I bet the Furnace on it?”
“It’s embarrassing to let other people see me in this state.”
“Alright.”
As they chatted and looked around the weapon shop, Rael, who had gone to buy strawberry milk, returned.
“Here you go.”
Rael handed Elia the strawberry milk.
Light pink liquid in a glass bottle.
Finely crushed strawberries were at the bottom of the glass bottle.
“Wow! Thank you. I’ll enjoy it.”
Elia looked up at Rael and expressed her gratitude.
“Pfft…!”
A sound like someone bursting into laughter came from behind.
Elia turned around.
Madin was covering his mouth with his hand, trying to hold back his laughter, and chuckling.
‘Shut up. Don’t laugh.’
His blood-red eyes flashed under his hood, as if saying that.
It wasn’t threatening at all.
“What’s wrong?”
Rael asked, as if wondering why she suddenly turned around.
“No. It’s nothing.”
Elia returned to her Saintess state.
“Shall we go somewhere else now?”
“Have you seen everything in the weapon shop?”
“Yes.”
Elia left the weapon shop at a brisk pace, holding the strawberry milk in both hands.
“Let’s go to the harbor next.”
Madin stared silently at his friend’s back.
Various emotions mixed together, making it complicated.
But what was certain was that he was really happy that his friend had returned.
“Pwahahahaha!”
Madin burst into hearty laughter.
The laughter he had been holding back erupted.
“What’s with that way of speaking?”
It was just funny that Adrean, the Sword Saint who was once called the Tiger Instructor to the new knights, was using such a girlish way of speaking.
2.
I’m thirsty.
The reunion with my friend was the worst.
My face feels hot, as if I’ve exposed my weaknesses.
-Pop
I opened the glass bottle and gulped down the strawberry milk.
“Ooh~!”
My eyes widened at the sweetness that gently enveloped my tongue.
Delicious!
I don’t usually like sweets.
I eat them if they’re given to me, but I’ve never thought they were delicious.
That’s why I used to give my cookies to the other kids on the days we ate cookies at the convent.
I didn’t know that sweet things could be so delicious…!
Is it because I’m in this body?
My tongue craves sweet things more.
“I’m glad you like it.”
“Mmm.”
Rael took out a handkerchief and wiped the corners of my mouth.
“Is that sword the one you received as a gift from the weapon shop?”
Rael pointed to the sword at my waist.
“Yes! I’m going to hang it in my bedroom.”
It goes without saying, but I have no intention of just hanging it in my bedroom.
As soon as I get back to the academy, it’s straight to training.
It looks like I’m going to have a hard time taming this sword.
The thought of being able to do something that can be called training after a long time makes my heart flutter.
Just like this strawberry milk!
“Before we go to the harbor, can we go buy one more bottle of this?”
“You seem to like it.”
I nodded eagerly.
“It’s more delicious than I imagined.”
“I’ll guide you right away.”
My first weekend at the academy was rewarding.
I reunited with an old friend and got a new sword. And most of all, I had the opportunity to discover the revolutionary taste of strawberry milk!
