Seonbae (Yudong) – What the hell is this bastard doing?

    * Seonbae (Yudong) – What the hell is this bastard doing? (2)

Junseo’s seonbae, Kim Yudong, was planning to spend another peaceful day. His deeply tanned skin was exposed in a sleeveless shirt and shorts, and his neatly cut two-block hairstyle was now fluffy. Since he had settled into a one-room apartment near the university, his small pleasure and happiness came from occasionally bringing over female juniors he knew to drink with him.

A man living a life too ordinary to be immediately labeled a thug. To put it another way, he’s like an “insa” who stole the “assa’s” spot, which is popular these days. He treats himself like an “assa” because 「everyone else is out having fun, but I’m just calling girls over to my place」, but a real “assa” would flip their shit if they heard that.

Anyway, he thought there was still time before night, so he lightly cracked open a can of beer, turned on the TV, and blankly watched a variety show while contemplating who to hit on today. There were many pretty girls in his department, and he had recently become fairly close with them, so he felt like it was slowly becoming harvest time.

    ‘What should I do?’

He was in the middle of such a lustful fantasy when suddenly the phone rang. He answered it to find his hoobae, a being of unknown origin and a Cthulhu-like figure, abruptly recommending a hostess bar. He usually doesn’t call, and his true nature is so suspicious that after getting burned once, he only maintained a distance where he could have some fun. But that spaced-out monster doesn’t seem to want to let Yudong go, as he keeps making suspicious offers.

Rubbing breasts, sex possible, hmm interesting.

    No, but Hoobae-nim.

Who the hell would go there with someone as dangerous as you?

Yudong still remembers that day. He’s fallen for girls more than once, but Haeun Noona was especially hot. Short, not much meat on her bones, and with otaku hobbies. But the otaku he knew were of a completely different species and image, overflowing with decadent beauty and sex appeal from that small body, which he found fascinating. Even though her clothes were unusually thick and strange, he still pushed his face in.

He asked Junseo, her younger brother, even though he knew Junseo would be embarrassed when he approached him. But he should have realized it then. That embarrassment wasn’t from connecting his noona with someone else, but from looking at Yudong with pity because he knew the full extent of his noona’s true nature. So, when Haeun Noona came to do a dogeza naked, he didn’t feel like he was being made fun of behind his back, but rather 「I almost got caught by this crazy bitch」 was the first emotion he felt. The thought 「If I had kept pushing without knowing anything, I would have been royally screwed」 also came along, so his head cooled down quickly.

In that sense, he wasn’t angry at Junseo, even if there was a slight bit of displeasure. He heard the excuse that he was trying to keep him away because he knew how crazy his noona was. Turns out they weren’t even blood-related, and he only recently found out that the family members have sex with each other. He didn’t tell him directly, but gave him subtle hints, and after learning where that body and sex appeal came from, he drew a line in his mind, saying 「This hoobae is seriously dangerous.」 Especially when that bodyguard came to threaten him. He realized that this wouldn’t work anymore.

‘It’s okay to watch and enjoy from the sidelines, but it’s difficult to get any more involved than that…’

So today’s offer was confusing and difficult in many ways. Of course, Yudong is a man. If he wasn’t tempted by the idea of such a hostess bar, and even getting to enjoy it for free, that would be a lie. Especially at an age where he’s craving female attention and his libido is raging, he wanted to dive in headfirst, but it smelled too dangerous. It’s nice to remain as friendly seonbae-hoobae, but trying to get any closer is problematic, so he rejected the offer and turned off the phone, but he had a bad feeling.

    Gulp gulp.

    Puhah~!

He pours the contents of the canned beer down his throat and shouts coolly. The cold beer’s scent flows through his nose, making him feel slightly better, but suspicions like 「He wouldn’t come looking for me, would he?」 kept nagging at him. He thought that since he was a good (?) hoobae who kept his distance, he wouldn’t do that, and he was blankly watching a variety show, but Yudong would soon regret that choice. The choice he should have made now was not watching TV, but immediately changing his clothes and running away.

    ‘Huh?’

It was the moment when his mind reacted to the beer’s very slight alcohol content, and he felt relaxed.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock knock.

He hears the sound of people’s footsteps and knocking. Since the one-room apartment is in front of the university, it’s natural for it to be noisy, and he often hears footsteps, so he usually doesn’t pay much attention. But today, as soon as he heard the knocking, his whole body turned cold. It wasn’t the sound of sneakers he usually hears, but the sound of dress shoes clicking, and it felt like there were many people gathered in front of the door. He wondered if acquaintances had come to visit, but it didn’t seem like that kind of atmosphere, so his pupils naturally trembled.

‘What is it? Did someone come to proselytize?’

Perhaps because of the geographical location, he often gets religious solicitations. Especially in front of the university, all sorts of crazy people often flock here, so he quickly calmed down. But even though Yudong was silent without saying anything, the people in front of the door didn’t seem to want to leave.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock.

    Knock knock knock.

The door is knocked again with the same rhythm. But the fist bumps were a little stronger than before. The moment he felt something was wrong, his cell phone rang, “Ttiring ttiring ttiring.”

    ‘What is it now?’

He looked at his phone screen to see where the call was coming from, and a restricted number, rare in this day and age, appeared, fueling Yudong’s fear. As if on cue, the people standing in front of the door heard the phone ringing and whispered among themselves, 「I hear a sound inside.」 That conversation alone was enough to make Yudong’s heart drop, so he slowly got up, hoping for the best, but…

    Knock knock… knock…

The knocking stopped there for a moment.

Soon, the sound of fists erupted.

    Kung kung kung!!!

    Kung kung kung!!!

    Kuuuuuuung!!!!

Unidentified people banging loudly as if they were about to break down the door.

“Kim Yudong-ssi!!!! Are you in there!!!!”

    ‘?!’

Should I go out? Or not?

He stands on his tiptoes and taps the floor while contemplating. Yudong, who would normally greet people he didn’t even know with a smile, had a gut feeling that he shouldn’t do that today. It’s not a delivery, it’s not a religious solicitation, they even called directly, and they’re all gathered in front of the door? Anyone would think it’s a dangerous case, so he tried to stay still, but they gave him a final warning from the other side.

“Ah~! Seonsaeng-nim~! We know you’re in there, but if you don’t come out, we’ll be in trouble too~?”

“If you don’t come out, we’re going to put a fire extinguisher in there and set it off?! Is that okay?!”

“Let’s do this the easy way, Seonsaeng-nim!”

“Should we break down the door and open it?!”

    ‘Oh my god!’

The voices were loud and clear. Instead of speaking through the door, they must have opened the window connected to the one-room apartment hallway, because the voices were coming loudly from there. Yudong’s pupils trembled, wondering what era it was where debt collectors were acting like they were coming to catch someone. Moreover, he could hear a rattling sound from beyond, as if the threat of putting a fire extinguisher inside and setting it off wasn’t a lie, so he had no choice but to move.

“Euaaaaaa! Just a moment! Just a moment! I just woke up?! I’ll come out! So just wait a minute!”

    “What, he’s there.”

“Woah, what the fuck is going on?!”

He hurriedly throws on a big coat and opens the door.

    “Wh, who are yo…?”

“Aigo, Seonsaeng-nim! Excuse us for a moment!”

    “Eok?!”

Yudong cautiously opened the door, just in case. And the moment he tried to stick his head out slightly, the people outside swung the door open, exposing Yudong’s entire body to the hallway. The action was so violent that even Yudong, who was somewhat hot-blooded, was taken aback. His mind cooled down before he could get angry, which was natural, because the hallway was swarming with middle-aged men in black suits.

‘What is this? Did I take out a loan without knowing? Did Mom and Dad guarantee something in my name? How much would I have to screw up for these kinds of people to swarm me like this.’

It was a reasonably logical guess, but it didn’t help the current situation. The men standing blankly in front of the door slowly approached Yudong.

    “Are you Kim Yudong-ssi?”

    No, what’s with the “Seonsaeng-nim”?

You guys are the ones who should be called “Seonsaeng-nim.”

I want to change my name starting today, can I go to the community center?

Yudong somehow swallows those absurd thoughts and answers 「Yes…」 in a voice as faint as an ant crawling. Perhaps the trembling was conveyed to them, as all the men smiled and handed him a business card.

“Don’t be so surprised. It’s because we’re these kinds of people.”

‘What is it? Shipping specialist? Bokryong? Why are these people coming to me? What does shipping have to do with me.’

Yudong, unable to hide his bewilderment, slowly raises his head, wondering what was going on. There are several terribly large men. It wasn’t a lie that they were in the shipping business, as they smelled strongly of the sea, and their forearms were about twice as thick as Yudong’s.

“We’ve been entrusted with transporting a person this time. We’ve come because of the request to respectfully bring Kim Yudong-ssi here.”

    “Me?”

    “Yes.”

    “You’re transporting me?”

    “Yes, yes.”

He’s breathless. He’s not stupid enough not to know what that means. But the other party seems to know that too, as they rubbed their hands together in a humble manner and didn’t stop smiling.

“Aigoo, Seonsaeng-nim. Let’s not misunderstand. It’s not like human trafficking, we’re just here because our boss told us to bring you. I heard you had a drinking appointment with our boss today, don’t you remember anything?”

    “A drinking appointment…”

How would I know your boss?

The moment he was about to retort, a face flashed through his mind like lightning.

    “………………”

    Hiccup.

“You have an idea, don’t you?”

At those words, he had no choice but to shut his mouth, turn his eyes away, and nod slightly. They were clearly calling Yudong “Seonsaeng-nim” in a humble manner, but the hidden meaning was 「Let’s not bother each other and go together quickly.」

“Seonsaeng-nim, we’ve set aside plenty of time. We can wait about an hour, so would you like to go wash up now? We’ll park the car in front of this one-room apartment and wait.”

    “Okay…”

“Aigoo, our Seonsaeng-nim! I’m glad you’re quick to understand! Hahahaha!”

Fortunately, they didn’t seem to have any intention of doing anything violent, as the men slowly closed the door and waved their hands. The last words they uttered, 「Then we’ll be waiting downstairs,」 were understood to mean that they didn’t know what would happen if he ran away.

    ‘I’m going crazy.’

The door clicks shut, and Yudong stands blankly in front of it, banging his head against the wall.

In the end, he was dragged away like that.
