Raid Start
by Afuhfuihgs
One week has passed since the last season of this expansion pack was updated.
During that one week, I leveled up [Assassin] to max level.
I didn’t study [Assassin] while leveling up; I just mindlessly grinded dungeons to reach max level, so I don’t really know much about [Assassin]. I just spammed skills while running dungeons.
I plan to study the [Assassin] job after completing this final raid with [Soma] and getting all the gear.
The announcement for the season’s final raid is already out. The raid will be released next Thursday.
Now, I needed to start checking the raid party for the upcoming raid.
This raid was a 12-person raid.
First of all, a total of 10 people from our guild are going to the raid. Unfortunately, two members who can’t participate in the raid said they couldn’t join the try due to real-life commitments.
So, my friend, Kang Han-gil-ajusshi, and MozzaWhopper-nim, a member of that ajusshi’s guild who I ran dungeons with last time, decided to join as the remaining two members.
This raid requires a total of three 4-person parties.
Three tanks, six dealers, and three healers. When playing raids, the number of parties needed based on the 4-person party standard is important. The moment it exceeds two parties, it becomes a raid party.
I heard that in the old L.O.L., there were 16-person raids, 20-person raids, and 24-person raids, but now 12-person and 16-person raids are almost fixed.
Of course, the main tank for this raid party is Soonchu-unni. The main healer is PinkuBerry-unni. The main dealer is Kang Han-gil-ajusshi.
And of course, I became the raid leader.
Of course, it’s my guild that I created, and the members I gathered, but honestly, the role of the raid leader is very big, difficult, and important when trying raids.
But it’s absurd that everyone so readily entrusts such a raid leader position to a 15-year-old like me, and I also think everyone is out of their minds.
First of all, our raid party isn’t a great combination, to be honest. There are few jobs with a lot of party synergy, and there are many pure dealers.
Out of the six dealers, three are pure dealers, which is a fantastic combination. Usually, raid parties use a maximum of two pure dealers, and the standard combination usually uses one.
But three?
On top of that, Han-gil-ajusshi and I are going as [Soma], so our jobs overlap.
Usually, there are only two situations like this.
Either the pure dealers are all insanely good and the DPS is plentiful, or if even one person underperforms, the DPS will be lacking.
But I’m not worried about this raid party.
Currently, the pure dealers are [Grim Reaper] Baedeopgae, [Magician] MozzaWhopper, [Berserker] Shin Chang-seop Normalization.
Everyone is a dealer who has at least achieved a purple rating in the L.O.L. logs, so I have no worries about DPS.
The problem is when a specific job is needed during the raid. In such cases, we’ll just do without it if we don’t have it.
August 8th, Thursday. 4:00 PM.
At the time when the L.O.L. raid update ended, we all gathered at the place where the raid starts.
Of course, many raid parties gathered to enjoy the raid caught my eye.
Among them, famous raid parties naturally caught my eye.
L.O.L. currently has the most overwhelmingly large user base among virtual reality RPG games.
It’s not just in Korea, but it has a large user base worldwide.
The servers are not connected, but all patches and updates are updated on the same day, based on Korean time, for all servers worldwide.
The titles given from 1st to 10th place are not given separately for each country’s server, but a total of 10 are given to all servers worldwide, so all raid parties from all countries are running to earn the titles.
That’s why many people watch to see which raid party will achieve the first clear and earn the title.
The number of viewers is surprisingly large, so raid parties turn on broadcasts and receive sponsorships or advertisements.
Of course, our raid party doesn’t have that!
Since this is the first raid party ever created for this raid, there’s no chance of that happening.
I’m not thinking about WFK, World First Kill, in this raid.
WFK isn’t something you can achieve just by wanting it.
My goal right now is to get within the top 10. Usually, raid parties that do WFK are people who gamble everything on the game.
They spend all 16 hours of available playtime using the connector to try the raid, and spend the remaining time eating and sleeping, and then try again for 16 hours, repeating until they clear it.
From the start, the preparation time for this raid is very short, and it’s the first time going to a raid with these raid party members, and we haven’t coordinated our teamwork.
Of course, it’s not that I don’t have any desire for WFK. But not now.
Currently, most WFKs come from Europe.
Because of that, Korean users feel a lot of disappointment that WFK doesn’t come from Korea, even though it’s a Korean game.
It is said that Korea only got WFK once when L.O.L. was released not long ago, that is, when there were not many overseas users.
I heard that after L.O.L. became famous and many people from all over the world came in, they couldn’t get it.
Many Korean raid parties have tried to aim for WFK, but it hasn’t been easy.
First of all, real-life commitments were the biggest factor.
Can you make a living with just L.O.L.? No matter how much the game develops and becomes famous, Korea hasn’t changed from the past.
They didn’t have a good perception of games.
European L.O.L. raid parties have grown to the point where they can be called professional game teams.
They receive money from sponsors and play the game like professional gamers. But Korean raid parties don’t have sponsors.
Currently, there are quite a few games with professional gamers in the virtual reality game world.
Among them, to mention the most famous games, first, the RTS genre Space War, the game of the era when the job of professional gamer first emerged.
There is also Chaos Tower, an AOS genre that is still loved by the most people.
And MMORPG L.O.L.
Space War and Chaos Tower have professional game teams with sponsors in Korea, but L.O.L. doesn’t.
Many people cited the season as the reason.
Space War and Chaos Tower always have tournaments and leagues.
That’s why people always enjoy watching teams or professional gamers play through broadcasts.
But what about L.O.L.?
People only watch for a period of two weeks to a month, at most, until the raid comes out and WFK comes out.
On top of that, the moment WFK comes out from another raid party, people’s interest drops sharply. And once you clear it, there’s no reason to watch it.
Since raids come out seasonally, not every time, and are only exposed to people for a short period of one month, Korean sponsors didn’t prefer L.O.L.
Because of that, there are very few users who can clear their schedule for a long time and play L.O.L. to achieve WFK.
So, raid parties in Korea focus on enjoying and playing the raid rather than aiming for WFK.
Of course, there are Korean raid parties that aim for WFK, but the reality is that they are not seeing much success.
Well. WFK isn’t important.
What’s important is enjoying the game. Ah, but I’m a little greedy for the title.
That’s why I’m aiming for the top 10.
,Is everyone ready?”
In front of the huge hole created by the intertwined yellow cordyceps that were wriggling from the queen ant’s neck.
I put my hands on my hips in front of the members of the newly formed [Arang Arang] raid party and stuck my chest out.
,Yes!!!,
The raid members smiled and nodded.
I opened the menu window and pressed the entry button at the raid entry location, where other raid parties had already disappeared to clear it.
==
The update details stated that this raid has a total of 4 bosses.
Raids are basically reset once a week. So, our raid party’s goal this week is to clear two bosses.
As soon as I entered the raid, there was a time limit that wasn’t there before.
16:00
15:59
Looking at the time, there are 16 hours, so it doesn’t seem like a problem.
,Why was this added?,
The reaction of the surrounding raid members.
I think that was probably created because of me.
The first boss immediately revealed itself.
As soon as I entered the raid, without any trash mob sections, there was a giant tree in the center of the huge map.
If there wasn’t a boss mark visible on the tree, it would have looked just like a tree, not a boss.
[Parasitic Hatchery]
[■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■]
Looking at this, it’s obvious that the cordyceps that controlled the queen ant are swarming inside that ordinary-looking big tree.
It hasn’t even been 30 minutes since the raid came out.
Of course, there’s no information, and I didn’t bother looking for it. After all, everyone is at the same starting line right now.
,Everyone, check your buffs, doping, and food.,
I checked my job buffs, alchemy doping that increases stats, and buffs that can be obtained from food, and then pressed the attack preparation button.
Tting.
Soonchu, after confirming that everyone had pressed the confirmation button, set a 15-second countdown.
Ttik. Ttik.
The time ticked down in front of everyone’s eyes.
When it became 1 second and then START! appeared, everyone, led by Soonchu, rushed towards the boss.
