Purpose

The true reason Kaikilia massacred the other imperial family members was that all her relatives, except for herself, had become involved with demons.
Someone among the imperial family had fallen, corrupted by demons, and had secretly begun working behind the scenes on those around them.
By the time Kaikilia realized the truth, it was already too late. Most of humanity, excluding herself, had either become demon servants or were on the verge of becoming so.
Ultimately, Kaikilia, with Minerva’s help, secretly crossed over to the Holy Nation alone. This was to obtain the Holy Sword, which was said to bestow divine power upon those who met its qualifications.
Since the entire Imperial Palace had become no different from a demon den, considering the gravity of the situation, it would have been appropriate to mobilize Inquisitors to attack. However, Kaikilia refused that suggestion.
If the fact that the imperial family was involved with demons became known, the entire Empire would turn its attention to those beings. Such a situation absolutely had to be avoided.
Fortunately, Kaikilia succeeded in drawing the Holy Sword, gaining its power, and proudly returned to the Empire, personally slaughtering all her relatives who had been dominated by demons.
And externally, she allowed rumors to spread that she had done so because she was mad with power. The only ones who knew the truth were Kaikilia herself, Minerva, and a few high-ranking officials of the Holy Nation, including the Pope.
The most surprising thing was that the former lord, Aurora’s father, was not involved with demons. That was why he was able to survive even though everyone else had died.
He probably thought that his foolish antics, performed to appeal that he had no interest in power, had worked and allowed him to survive, but in reality, Kaikilia had simply spared him.
Minerva’s guess was that he was too stupid and hopeless a person, so they judged him to only be a hindrance to the plan and didn’t touch him, which was a fairly plausible guess.
While the truth was this, it was still a mystery what connection that incident had with Kaikilia’s interest in me.
“But that, Your Majesty, is why you- “
“My words are not yet finished. Be silent.”
Kaikilia’s index finger pressed firmly against my lips. I obediently shut my mouth.
“Since that incident, I have believed that the demons must be dealt with, no matter what sacrifices are made or what methods are employed. That is also why I granted permission for the battle nuns of the Holy Nation to freely enter and exit the Empire for the sake of the Holy War.”
No wonder. The Arachnainera boss field was clearly part of the Empire’s territory, so I had wondered why the Inquisitors appeared there. So that was the hidden story.
It was an event never depicted in the game, so of course, I wouldn’t have known.
No, it wasn’t even certain if such an event had happened in the first place. The information ended with the Emperor wielding the Holy Sword, so players had to make their own conjectures.
“However, one day, a letter arrived requesting that my own kin, who had become involved with a demon, be dealt with.”
That was what I had done to deal with that damn former lord. At that time, I never imagined that I would receive such attention from the Emperor.
“The first thought that came to me was a question. That man cares little for the lives of others, but he knows the value of his own life. He is certainly not the type to willingly get involved with a demon. Don’t you think so too?”
I nodded. Honestly, I agreed with that point. When I showed him the demon-possessed book, a deep sense of unease was clearly etched on the lord’s face and in his actions.
Before I lured him with the lie that I could control women at will, he hadn’t been mentally dominated by the demon even after seeing the book. That was proof of how great his unease was.
“And, I confirmed that his body bore scars etched by a weapon imbued with divine power.”
‘She recognized the stab marks from a blessed dagger?’
This was also content not depicted in the game. Even if I beat that bastard with a blessed weapon, the Emperor’s dialogue never changed.
In other words, I had been thinking incorrectly from the very beginning.
“Aurora is an ordinary human who cannot wield mana or divine power. The other knights can wield mana but not divine power. Furthermore, among the battle nuns who can travel outside the Holy Nation, there are none who use daggers.”
“……”
“Therefore, I ask you. Who would transform someone who feared demons into a demon, and then deal with them using a dagger imbued with divine power? Who would have planned all of that? Silence will not be tolerated, so answer me.”
Kaikilia’s face was already certain that I had committed such an act. Since her certainty was correct, and I had no other excuses, I quietly affirmed it.
“It was…… I, Your Majesty.”
“That is the answer to my question.”
“……”
Now everything made sense.
I could guess why Kaikilia had taken an interest in me. If her words were true, then from the moment I dealt with that bastard by framing him as a demon, it was only natural that she would take an interest in me.
Would someone who had personally killed their own relatives because of demons simply stand by when they heard that their last remaining kin had turned into a demon?
That interest naturally shifted to me, who was almost certainly the culprit of the incident. Besides Aurora and the Knight Captains, there was no one else who could have pulled off such a feat but me.
In the game, even if the lord was dealt with in such a way, the Emperor would just casually gloss over it, not wanting to make a big deal, so I had no idea the story would connect like this.
Kaikilia looked down at me, whose mind was starting to get complicated, and opened her mouth again.
“I have a task to fulfill. A fervent wish, a hope, a purpose. Accept it as you will.”
“……?”
“It is to completely eradicate those damned beings from this world.”
Kaikilia’s face was brought close to mine. A warm breath tickled my lips.
“I heard from Minerva that those pope bitches brought you here personally. You must have accomplished something in the Holy Nation. Otherwise, those women, who have been holed up in their respective grand cathedrals for the past few years, would not have personally brought you here. Hearing that, I was certain.”
The grip on my shoulder began to tighten more and more.
“I saw potential in you. I saw extraordinary ability. I saw the hope to realize a fantasy. Whether you yourself have realized that fact or not, it is not important.”
“……”
“Minerva also affirmed it. That she, herself, could not even presume to measure the potential ability within you. That if you wished, you could become anything. Minerva, herself, evaluated you thus.”
Become anything, huh. That was an accurate description of the protagonist of Brdk 4. The build would drastically change depending on how you chose your past actions and allocated your stats.
Though it was a meaningless classification at ultra-high levels.
“Therefore, as the Emperor of the Empire, I ask you. Do you have the ability to fulfill my wish? Can you achieve a fervent wish that even the Pope of the Holy Nation deemed impossible?”
Can the player do as she says?
Yes.
Of course, yes.
Brdk 4 had a total of four DLCs, and the third one released was titled ‘Sanctuary of Demons’.
In that DLC, while the player was dragged to hell and then returned to the real world, they massacred countless demons and, incidentally, even took the head of the final boss of that DLC, ‘Lucifer, the Guide of Evil’.
Once the final boss was dealt with, it was judged that all demon-type bosses had been cleared, and the player would acquire loot, while no more demon-type enemies would appear in that playthrough.
Therefore, fulfilling Kaikilia’s fervent wish itself could be considered possible.
However, I had no intention of clearing that DLC; I planned to leave it alone.
‘The world won’t end if I leave it alone, and the reward isn’t big enough to warrant the risk, so there’s no reason to clear it.’
Unlike the final boss of the ‘Awakening Evil’ DLC, the God-forsaken creature, even if an activated DLC was left uncleared, demons wouldn’t cross over and cause the world to end.
Originally, the player being dragged to hell wasn’t for some grand reason; it was simply because they got caught up in a ritual by demon worshippers.
There was no hindrance to the ending even if I didn’t clear it, and while I *could* do it, did I *really* need to? That was the feeling, so I tried to avoid places with demon worshippers-
“So you do have it.”
Kaikilia looked down at me with a chilling smile. At her eerie face, I was forcibly pulled out of my thoughts.
I realized my mistake. I had been thinking for too long.
“Indeed, you do have it.”
Thump, her hand pushed me back. My upper body collapsed onto the bed.
Kaikilia braced herself on the bed and crawled over me on her knees. Her breasts, encased in lingerie, boasted a heavy weight as they leaned forward, and her arms settled one by one beside my face.
“A human who imagines the impossible does not make such a face. My eyes were accurate. You are capable of fulfilling my fervent wish.”
Her golden pupils began to blaze with desire for me. Her face was filled with ecstasy. I felt an ominous premonition.
“I won’t say much. Become mine. If you do- “
“Kaikilia!”
At the sound of a very urgent voice, Kaikilia’s words abruptly cut off. Kaikilia turned her head with an annoyed expression. I also turned my head in that direction.
The owner of the voice was Minerva. Her usual relaxed and mysterious expression was nowhere to be seen; she was panting heavily.
“There’s a problem, so prepare for battle immediately.”
Seeing Minerva’s uncharacteristically flustered face and heavy breathing, Kaikilia seemed to instinctively realize that it was no ordinary matter. She erased her annoyed expression and slowly sat up.
“What is the matter, Minerva?”
“A dragon has appeared. It’s merely flying in the sky for now, but I have a bad feeling about it.”
“……A dragon?”
Kaikilia’s voice rose slightly.
In the Brdk world, dragons were treated as nothing short of walking natural disasters. There were countless documents expressing fear of dragons.
Of course, to the protagonist, they were nothing more or less than annoying bosses to catch.
‘Why are they here……’
I slowly went through the list of dragon bosses in Brdk 4 in my head, and then, at a sudden possibility that came to mind, I jolted upright in surprise.
“Minerva-nim!”
“What is it?”
“That dragon, did you happen to see what color its scales were?”
“The color of its scales? Hmm…… I think they were a mix of black and indigo.”
Fuck.
As soon as I heard that, I cursed internally.
A dragon with scales that were a mix of black and indigo. That alone was enough. Because there was only one dragon with scales of that color in Brdk 4.
The Eater of Worlds.
The final boss of Brdk 4, that is.
