    Princess Rainy (2)

After Princess Rainy’s ‘overwrite’ began, it was me-not Ethan, who usually attended to female guests-who served her.

Lydia would never allow someone who had already made a mistake (though it wasn’t Ethan’s fault) to serve her again, and since I was the first to react to Princess Rainy’s overwrite, I had to see it through to the end.

From the start, overwriting was more effective when applied to small details rather than major frameworks. Like how Princess Rainy ordered coffee and croissants instead of the tea and cookies she had initially requested.

Of course, even though I knew her well, I couldn’t do anything about her unlucky constitution, so I had to be extra careful not to make any mistakes.

    -Thud.

    “…Ah.”

The moment my balance wavered as I bumped into a guest who was getting up from their seat.

Since I was already on high alert to deal with the Unlucky Princess, I was able to handle it. I quickly shifted my misstep forward a step, steadied the tray in my hand, and-

For the rest, I relied on the wind spirit Sei to absorb the impact, managing to prevent the ‘misfortune’ of spilling coffee on Princess Rainy again.

    “A-Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Please don’t worry about me. Are you hurt anywhere, sir?”

    “N-No, I’m fine.”

After exchanging brief words with the guest I had bumped into, I approached Princess Rainy with steady steps.

I quickly wiped away the few drops of coffee that had spilled on the tray with a Clean spell before presenting it to her.

    -Tap.

    “Here’s your coffee.”

    “……”

Just in case it spilled, I had made the coffee slightly lukewarm to avoid the worst-case scenario. Sally’s fire magic warmed it up right before serving, so in a way, I had managed to overcome Princess Rainy’s unlucky constitution head-on.

    “……”

“I’ll bring the croissants right away. Please rest for now.”

    -Nod nod.

    “…Huu.”

Now that I was face-to-face with her, she was indeed intimidating.

If I had placed even one more croissant on the tray, I might have lost my balance. Or the coffee might have spilled onto the croissants, forcing me to bring new ones.

Though I found her a somewhat troublesome guest, she was still the main heroine of 『Luminor Academy』.

Her unlucky constitution would soon come to an end, so there was no need to do anything that might earn her dislike.

“Please be careful on your way in, my lady.”

    “……”

    -Nod nod.

“Princess, is there anywhere else you’d like to visit…?”

After staying at the café for about 30 minutes longer, I finally managed to see Princess Rainy off.

It was an exhausting experience, but I managed to send her off without showing any signs of annoyance or fatigue in front of her.

Since I, who was overseeing the café as a whole, was solely attending to Princess Rainy, the café became relatively busier, but it was a sacrifice worth making. After all, Princess Rainy was a character whose goodwill was crucial in the story.

Not because she was Ethan’s fiancée, but because Princess Rainy herself would become a cheat-level character by the middle of Part 3.

The exact name of her unique ability was ‘Bringer of Misfortune.’

At first glance, the name might suggest she brings misfortune to others, but in reality, it was entirely different. The target of her misfortune wasn’t others-it was her ‘future self.’

‘Princess Rainy was 19 years old when she enrolled at the academy, so it won’t be long now.’

A constitution that had absorbed every possible misfortune since birth for 20 years.

That chain of misfortune would end in a few months. After that, she would walk nothing but a path of flowers, as if all the misfortune she’d endured had been nothing.

So, to avoid being marked by Princess Rainy, who would be armed with good fortune by then, I had to at least avoid making her dislike me now.

Of course, Princess Rainy was probably used to people’s disdainful gazes, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

After closing the maid café for the day, Ethan, who had been looking gloomy all afternoon, approached me with a half-hearted apology.

“…Sorry, Lilith. Because of my mistake, you had to work extra hard.”

“Please don’t say that, Young Master Ethan. Princess Rainy has that constitution by nature, so it was just a mistake you made while serving her-it wasn’t your fault.”

    “……”

“If anything, I should have told you about Princess Rainy beforehand. I didn’t expect her to visit while I was briefly helping out in the kitchen.”

At this point, I was the only one who could overcome Princess Rainy’s unlucky constitution and serve her flawlessly.

Though there had been a minor incident, I had managed to handle it safely, so starting tomorrow, we could return to normal operations.

‘Tomorrow is Gyeotmwa, Celista, and Silena’s day off.’

With Thomas and Natalie returning, I thought things would be more relaxed than today, but that expectation was shattered shortly after the café opened the next day.

“Welcome, my lady. Have you come to visit the master?”

    “……”

    -Shake shake.

    “…Huh?”

    -Whoosh.

    “……”

Princess Rainy shook her head at Thomas, who was attending to the female guest, and suddenly pointed her finger at me.

It was impossible not to recognize that as her way of designating me, so I quietly stepped forward toward Princess Rainy.

“Yes, my lady. Thank you for visiting us again today. The master is currently busy, so may I escort you to the parlor for now?”

    “……”

    -Nod nod.

“Butler Thomas, I’ll take care of the lady, so could you handle the other guests?”

    “Ah, yes!”

Through this exchange, I naturally took over Princess Rainy’s care from Thomas.

Before I could even take a full step after escorting Princess Rainy into the parlor, her unlucky constitution bared its fangs once more.

    -Snap.

    “…!”

As soon as she took a step forward from the slightly raised entrance of the maid café, the heel of her shoe broke, causing her to stagger.

It was a sudden accident, but it didn’t matter. I had already anticipated this level of misfortune.

    -Plop.

    “…?”

    “Are you alright, my lady?”

    “……”

    -Nod nod.

“I’m glad you’re unharmed. Walking must be difficult now, so may I carry you to the parlor?”

    “……”

    -Nod nod.

True to her title of princess, Princess Rainy nodded while being carried in my arms like royalty.

Holding her light body (lighter even than Mezlen’s), I took her to the farthest seat available and carefully set her down on the chair.

    -Thud.

    ‘…Whew.’

I had been tense, wondering if the chair leg might suddenly break, but it seemed that wouldn’t happen.

Since her ankle wasn’t swollen, it seemed she was unharmed-only her shoe heel had broken.

Today was Celista’s day off, so if she had gotten hurt, handling the situation would have been twice as hard as yesterday.

“I’ll serve you wholeheartedly while you wait for the master. If you’d like any tea or snacks, please let me know.”

    -Nod nod.

    “……”

That aside, I hadn’t expected her to visit two days in a row.

Well, it wasn’t like there was a rule against consecutive visits, and our café had a high return rate anyway. Some people had already stamped their attendance three days in a row-I could remember quite a few.

Then again, with a café staffed by this many beautiful girls and handsome guys, frequent visits were only natural. Thanks to Antonio filtering out the rude and ill-mannered guests on the first day, the Maid & Butler Café was running smoothly.

‘Come to think of it, maybe Princess Rainy visited because she wanted to be served by Ethan, not me.’

Though it wasn’t publicly known yet, she was Ethan’s fiancée.

As a princess of a nation, she held a high status, and their engagement was kept so secret that even Ethan couldn’t speak of it freely. They also shared the commonality of having difficult childhoods.

She probably visited this café to get a sense of what her fiancé Ethan was like… but unfortunately, the incident on the first day meant I couldn’t assign her to him.

And if I had assigned her to Ethan and he made another mistake, he would be too ashamed to even lift his head.

    “……”

    -Tap, tap.

“Darjeeling tea and cheese cookies, correct? I’ll bring them right away.”

    -Nod nod.

Princess Rainy ordered the same menu she couldn’t have on the first day due to Ethan’s mistake and stared intently at me.

As I bowed slightly to retrieve the menu, I noticed her broken shoe. Since Thomas was working today, unlike yesterday, this was a good opportunity.

“One of our servants is quite skilled with his hands. If you don’t mind, would you like us to repair your shoes while you wait?”
