Preparing for War
by Afuhfuihgs
After getting the main quest from the Elf Queen, I immediately left the city.
The quest was to find the interdimensional portal.
“Ppiyaaaoooak!”
I ride the Wind Walker and dash through the sky.
The moment the wing flaps accelerate, the surrounding scenery stretches out.
As I continued flying following the quest marker, the surrounding scenery began to change at some point.
The bright sunlight and cool breeze disappear.
The number of trees that had been densely packed began to decrease noticeably, and the lush leaves also took on a murky color as if stained with red rust.
The most noticeable thing among them was the unidentified object installed throughout the forest.
Seeing monsters that looked like shamans from the East dancing near the object, it seemed that this was the reason the forest had changed like this.
But right now, the quest was pointing to a deeper place, not here.
Following the quest’s guidance, I went deeper, and a signal came up from right below.
It seems that I can’t find the interdimensional portal from the air.
I had no choice but to land on the ground with Ppiyaki, no, the Wind Walker.
Unlike the air, where I could at least observe the surrounding scenery in detail, the lower part of the forest had limited visibility as if covered in thick fog.
I look around to find the interdimensional portal as the quest says.
But I couldn’t see anything that looked like a portal.
It seemed like I had to look around this forest.
“Come out!”
I immediately unsummoned the Wind Walker and summoned the Battle Hell Wolf.
The wolf, who appeared from the huge summoning circle, looked around with sharp eyes and let out a cool howl.
“Eureureurang-“
I was running through the forest full of murky energy with the wolf.
A blue exclamation mark flashed by in the distance.
It was a quest marker indicating a side quest.
Is it possible to start a side quest in a place like this?
With a hopeful heart, I drove the wolf and ran there.
Tadak- Tadak- Tadak-!
When I arrived quickly, an NPC named [Jeok Surin] was standing there.
A deeply pressed bamboo hat and a long, tattered cloak.
The clothes he was wearing were generally loose, but the straps wrapped around his arms and legs blocked the clutter of the clothes.
He’s an NPC that doesn’t fit in the fantasy game Deron.
In terms of setting, this NPC must have crossed the interdimensional portal.
But Jeok Surin didn’t show the purple energy like other interdimensional visitors.
As I slowly approached Jeok Surin with the wolf, he slightly raised his bamboo hat and met my gaze.
Unlike other visitors with monster judgments, his eyes were not glazed over.
“Do you happen to know about the interdimensional portal?”
I asked, just in case, but no answer came back.
Rather, Jeok Surin asked me a question.
“Are you a resident of this world?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll say it shamelessly. Can you help me?”
“What kind of help do you need?”
“I’m looking for something I lost in this world.”
“Lost something?”
“It’s an old book. It’s a useless thing for the people of this world.”
At Jeok Surin’s words, I thought of the suspicious book I had put in my inventory.
Is he asking for that book?
At that moment, a quest appeared before my eyes.
[Helping a Suspicious Person]
Bring ‘Suspicious Book’ to Jeok Surin 1/1
I achieved the condition at the same time as receiving the quest.
I took out the book that had been stuck in my inventory and handed it to him.
“Is this it?”
“This is…”
Jeok Surin carefully took the book and began to lightly scan the contents.
I waited with the wolf until he finished reading the book.
“Thank you…”
The moment the book was confirmed, a huge amount of experience points came in.
The reward didn’t end there.
Jeok Surin handed me a pouch full of small pills.
[Vitality Pill] x20
A single pill that restores health when eaten.
Came from another world.
Restores 40% health.
Cooldown 10 seconds
“If you find another book similar to this, bring it to me. I promise you a good reward.”
[Helping a Suspicious Person]
Bring ‘Suspicious Secret Art Upper Volume’ to Jeok Surin 0/1
Bring ‘Suspicious Secret Art Middle Volume’ to Jeok Surin 0/1
Bring ‘Suspicious Secret Art Lower Volume’ to Jeok Surin 0/1
As expected, there was a linked quest as expected.
Just in case, I searched for the item on the auction house, but I couldn’t load the information of those items.
It meant that the item could not be registered in the auction house.
“Where can I find those books?”
“I don’t know either, so I asked you for help.”
Jeok Surin left those words and leaned back against the tree.
Just in case, I turned on the quest guide function.
But no hints came to mind.
It seemed that this quest would be pushed back far behind the priority.
“Let’s go!”
I started running again with the wolf.
Tadak- Tadak- Tadak-
How much time had passed? Just when I felt that the purple energy blocking my eyes had become stronger, a huge portal appeared before my eyes.
[Friede’s Request]
Find the interdimensional portal 1/1
I found the portal I asked for.
But, it wasn’t just the portal that was there.
Samurais standing guard around it and sorcerers with long staffs were escorting the area.
[Friede’s Request]
Clean up the area around the portal and find clues that could be information 0/1
The quest has been updated. It seemed that the fight with the enemies in front of me was unavoidable.
I quietly drew my sword.
The wolf also lowered its body slightly and held its breath as if matching me.
Holding my breath and waiting for the timing, I aimed for the moment when the wind blew slightly.
I swung my sword with the wind on my back along with the wolf running quickly.
Tadadadadak-!
Seogeok-!
“Keueok…!”
“It’s an ambush!”
My eyes quickly scan the surroundings.
The number of samurai is ten.
There are five sorcerers who can attack from a distance.
I drove the wolf, turning around and distancing myself from the samurai.
At that moment, the sorcerers began to cast skills.
Lumps of purple energy began to slowly chase me.
Even if I drove the wolf and changed directions here and there, they followed me to the end.
It was a skill with a homing function.
Immediately after shaking off the samurai, I quickly charged and dug into the sorcerers.
Before the panicked guys could distance themselves, I jumped off the wolf and slammed down on the ground.
Kwang!
Immediately after that, I stretch my hand high into the sky.
It was to activate the Demon Lord’s skill [Lightning of Destruction].
Kwaaaang!
The moment I activated the skill, a huge black lightning bolt fell in a wide radius.
The sorcerers’ bodies collapsed powerlessly from the powerful blow.
After that, it wasn’t very difficult to deal with the samurai.
Using the [Azathoth’s Sword] buff, I cut off the samurai’s necks one by one with the extended range and cleaned up the entire situation.
“Eueum…”
I groaned briefly and looked around.
The main quest was to find something that could be information, but there didn’t seem to be anything special to get.
I was looking around like that.
Suddenly, my eyes turned to the interdimensional portal.
[Interdimensional Portal]
No matter how I looked at it, it was suspicious.
I was told to bring something that could be evidence, but there was nothing around.
I swallowed hard and reached out to the interdimensional portal.
Then, like when I put my hand in water, the transparent portal slowly rippled and swallowed my hand.
I realized that I could directly cross over to another world through the portal.
There was no hesitation. It’s just a game anyway. If the portal suddenly disappears, I can use the return stone.
I put my body inside the portal.
With a short flash of light, my body was transferred somewhere.
I blinked and waited for my vision to recover.
The moment the blurred vision returned to normal, I was able to recognize the surroundings.
The first thing that caught my eye was the wide sky and the blue forest spread out below it.
I looked down at where I was standing.
The place where I was standing was on top of an altar for a special spell.
The altar was neatly wiped, and red blood was flowing underneath it.
Strange characters were engraved on the braziers placed in all directions, and purple flames were soaring, not the color of ordinary fire.
At that moment, something that fell below the altar emitted a sparkling light.
It was a quest item mark.
I went down the altar and picked up what had fallen underneath it.
[Ritual Dagger]
A ritual dagger used in another world.
I feel an ominous energy.
At that moment, the quest was updated.
[Friede’s Request]
Clean up the area around the portal and find clues that could be information 1/1
I achieved the conditions of the main quest.
Just in case, I tried to go out of the altar, but I couldn’t move forward as if blocked by an invisible barrier.
They blocked me from going. It was a pity, but I couldn’t help it.
It was time to return to where I was.
Before passing through the portal again, I take in the surrounding scenery for the last time.
The style of the building far away was definitely reminiscent of the East.
I leave the interdimensional portal and return to the World Tree’s Shelter.
Thanks to using the return stone, I was able to return quickly.
“This is…”
I returned to the temple where the Elf Queen was and handed over the ritual dagger.
The Elf Queen Friede began to have a boring conversation with the Elf elders.
It was a section that could not be skipped.
I sat down on the floor and blankly let time pass.
Occasionally, stimulating words such as army and war popped out.
How much time had passed?
The moment I was yawning from boredom, the main quest was updated.
[The Beginning of War]
Help Friede persuade the elders who refuse war. 0/4
“What?”
The moment I got up from my seat in great embarrassment, the Elf elders blushed and took out their weapons.
Bows, swords, and even staffs.
Unlike the calm impression they had shown, the Elf elders began to create a fierce atmosphere, pointing their weapons at each other.
“War? Are you guys crazy?”
“You’re the crazy ones, do you think you can avoid war in this situation?”
“Are you going to break the rules of the Elves?”
“The forest is collapsing! We can’t wait for the World Tree’s words anymore!”
Some of the elders who were glaring at each other turned around and began to leave the temple.
They were the elders who opposed the war.
On the other hand, the elders who insisted on war remained by the Queen’s side.
Looking at that, it seemed that the Queen also gave an opinion in favor of the war.
“Stranger…”
The moment the Elf Queen started speaking, I jumped up from my seat.
The quest being updated meant that there was no need to remain in this place anymore.
I immediately ran out of the temple.
The quest was saying.
War, the beginning of war.
I had to quickly persuade the stubborn old geezers and proceed with a hot war.
