Four Family Members, Two Relationships. (END)
Jiho and Seonhye’s relationship wasn’t easily discovered.
Suspicion deepened day by day, but they didn’t do anything that would give them away.
‘No matter what, it doesn’t make sense for a middle schooler to just stay home all weekend.’
The biting winter, with winter vacation approaching, Jiho and Seonhye were, as always, holed up in their room.
Unlike everyone else who was talking about meeting friends because it was the end of the year, I was at home.
It wasn’t for any particular reason. I’d heard that my friends were all married and stuck at home.
Even if I said something, I wouldn’t be able to meet them anyway, so I was just quietly holed up in my room, watching to see if my kids would go out.
Why were the siblings getting along so well in their room, especially at an age when they’d want their own personal space during the height of puberty?
Even for close siblings, it was hard to understand. Usually, at that age, they’d be watching porn in their own rooms, right?
But siblings sharing a room, especially at the most sensitive age!
‘Not only are they always home, but they’re quiet, and they share a room without a single complaint?’
I can’t help but be suspicious.
Every time I mention moving during meals, how am I supposed to see my kids who refuse, saying they like this house?
I nodded and brushed it off, but once I became suspicious, I couldn’t just ignore those remarks.
It was lunchtime, though I was lying on the bed in my room.
As a father with the duty to feed my kids, I sent them a KakaoTalk message.
[My son and daughter, what do you want to eat?]
‘They’re not answering right away. Are they asleep?’
The upstairs room was too quiet, so I was suspicious, but then I nodded, thinking they could sleep in with the snowy weather outside.
Yeah, if I told them to go play outside in this weather, that’d be a bit much, right?
They can sleep in and laze around at home on a day like today, yeah, I shouldn’t be suspicious about this.
As I was lost in thought, watching the heavy snow falling outside the window, my KakaoTalk buzzed.
[Oppa wants to eat chicken. He said seasoned, so I’ll have fried.]
[Are you two gaming? Should I bring the chicken to your room when it gets here?]
[That would be great, Appa. Thank you, thank you. I was a little late replying because I’m gaming.]
[It’s the weekend, so don’t overdo it and get some sleep too. Okay, I’ll send it up when the chicken arrives.]
‘Seonhye is awake, so Jiho must just be sleeping.’
I could be suspicious if they both didn’t reply, but one of them is awake.
So, they’re just gaming and sleeping in every weekend, and that’s why they don’t go out?
My suspicion was eased, just a little bit. Just a little bit.
I ordered the chicken and looked out the window again, trying to sort out my thoughts with my suspicion eased just a little.
I had to force myself to think that they just get along well and there’s no problem, and that they’re doing fine even in the same room.
What good would it do to be more suspicious, to suspect my own kids?
That’s how my suspicion slowly began to fade, but if I had known what would happen later, I might not have let my suspicion go.
I couldn’t have imagined that something like that would happen.
–
[The chicken’s here, should I bring it up?]
[No, Appa, I’ll get it.]
[Huh?? Aren’t you gaming? I’ll bring it up. Keep gaming.]
[No, no, I just finished gaming, I’ll get it. Do we have Coke too?]
[Of course, we have Coke, I’ll put it on the kitchen table, so get it yourself.]
[Okay, Appa.]
‘Why is she coming down when I offered to bring it up? Is she feeling sorry for making me do it?’
I munched on my share of the chicken in the kitchen, thinking.
She usually asks for favors and orders me around, but this time she’s insisting on coming down herself.
Of course, Jiho’s personality is such that he could slap Seonhye on the back and tell her to get it.
The delivery took about an hour, so it was enough time for Jiho to wake up too.
“Appa, are you there?”
Seonhye’s voice came from the stairs.
“I’m in the kitchen, eating chicken.”
“Okay, I’ll come get it soon. Did it just arrive?”
“Yeah, it just arrived, so hurry up and get it, or call Jiho and come down to eat.”
“Okay!”
Why did she bother asking from upstairs?
Could it be that her outfit is a mess like Sea used to be?
No way. Even so, she’d be wearing more clothes than Sea, right?
After eating about three pieces of chicken, I saw Seonhye coming down the stairs in her pink pajamas.
In fact, it would be more accurate to say she was wearing them loosely, with a white shirt and pink pajamas, she came to the table and picked up the chicken.
There was one slightly strange thing.
“Seonhye-ya.”
“Yeah?”
I saw her flinch for just a moment.
“Is the room hot? Should I turn off the boiler?”
“No, it’s not hot! But why suddenly?”
“Really not hot? Your shirt is soaked with sweat.”
Her neck area was definitely soaked with sweat.
I couldn’t have mistaken the way it was clinging to her neck with sweat.
Of course, it would be over if she said no, but I nodded at Seonhye, who was looking at me.
“No, it’s fine if you’re not hot. Go eat your chicken and clean up.”
“Okay.”
The seed of suspicion that had been extinguished just now began to sprout again.
She’s sweating but not hot, and she’s wearing fuzzy pajamas even though it’s hot?
Why is she wearing pajamas when she must be hot from the sweat?
No matter how I thought about it, I could only come to one conclusion.
‘…Is she trying to hide something?’
It’s simple, but I couldn’t think of anything else.
If she had come down in her sweaty shirt, I would have thought it was because I didn’t turn off the boiler even though it was hot.
Unable to hide my suspicion at her obviously sweaty appearance, I went back to my room.
I ate the chicken and rested for about three hours.
That should be enough time for them to let their guard down, and I quietly lay down on the bed and closed my eyes, planning to go into their room then.
If she hadn’t come down in her pajamas at that time, I could have quietly let it go.
I ran my hand over my face and calmed myself. Of course, it wasn’t easy to sort out, and my head hurt.
–
Night fell completely, and it was still snowing.
I turned off all the lights and carefully left my room, stepping onto the stairs leading upstairs.
I might look pathetic walking up barefoot very slowly so as not to make any noise, but I still had to know.
‘Please…no.’
My steps were heavy, putting everything on that one ‘please’.
Each step felt heavy and like it would make a sound, so I carefully went up and headed for the hallway.
The only room in the hallway with light seeping out, my children’s room, came into view, and I took another deep breath without making a sound.
Sseuup- ha
Almost four hours had passed, so if they were doing something else after eating the chicken, now would be the time they’d be in the middle of it.
I forced myself to swallow the saliva that barely went down my throat and headed for the room.
Even at the door, there was no sound.
The soundproofing was so good that no sound would leak out unless the door was opened.
It would be a relief if I opened this door and they were just quietly gaming.
If they were just living as normal siblings, I could end it with a single sentence: ‘I came to see if you were okay because you were quiet.’
Yeah, if that were the case, there would be no problem, but what if.
My head was filled with thoughts of what would happen if that wasn’t the case.
I couldn’t say anything since my parents had already married siblings, but what should I say if my young children were doing that?
No, if it had already progressed that far, could I stop them?
‘Whatever happens, they’re students, and it’s the parents’ job to educate them.’
Thinking that way, I grabbed the doorknob.
It was a relief, perhaps, that the doorknob wasn’t locked.
Without a moment to think, I opened the door and went inside.
“Uh…”
“A… Appa…”
“…I was hoping it wasn’t true.”
Is it a blessing or a curse that they inherited my and Jihye’s genes?
Or is it a special gene that has been passed down from my parents?
My children, the twin siblings, were rolling around on the bed.
Well, they were rolling around, but it would be more explicit to say that Hye was on top, shaking her hips to comfort Jiho.
To be even more explicit, it would be more accurate to say that Seonhye was on top of Jiho in a reverse position.
“…You two come down when you’re done. I won’t tell you not to do it, I won’t hit you, and I won’t get angry… Come down when you’re done.”
I didn’t even have a reason to be angry, so I said that and turned around.
My head hurt the whole way as I closed the door and walked away.
So, it was true that the siblings were mixing bodies.
I was hoping this wasn’t true, it was just speculation and suspicion, but it’s true.
To be honest, even if I tried to get angry, I couldn’t say anything because of Jihye, so I quietly came downstairs.
If I thought they could love each other and were just momentarily blinded by lust, it could be possible… like hell it is.
“Ha…”
Only sighs came out of my mouth, barely giving me the strength to walk.
Each time I sighed, my body regained a little strength, and I forced my legs to move, going down the stairs and walking to the bed in my room.
Lying on the bed, I muttered briefly towards the snowy window.
“…Isn’t this just imprinted in their genes?”
Yeah, this is the gene itself.
Not a gene that makes siblings hate each other, but a gene that makes them fall in love.
No one knew if this was a blessing or a curse, but I was hoping it wasn’t my children, but…
A deep sigh filled the room, and time passed.
My family consisted of two relationships.
Parents and siblings, these two.
