Chapter Index

When talking about joining the Knights of Luminaris, I couldn’t leave out the explanation of the terminology that I specially taught.

-Why on earth did you teach me that kind of speech? You could have just said, “Welcome to the club,” but it sounds strange when you add “Asay.”

‘It’s funny. I don’t know anyone in this world anyway.’

I chuckled to myself as I listened to Maria grumble.

I’ve felt this since she got her body, but Maria has now become a human being. It’s obvious when I see her being uncomfortable with things like this.

“Anyway, it’s a good thing that the number of applicants is increasing.”

“Yes. If enough people are recruited, it seems that knights will be able to operate on planets other than the edge planets.”

Kai Delshard agreed with my mumbling to myself.

This universe is so vast that any organization that can control a single planet is laughable, and only if they can dominate a planetary system can they walk around with their shoulders held high as a barely large organization.

Each of the ducal houses of the Imperium of Man exerts its influence over a galaxy, which on average contains hundreds of billions of stars.

Not all of those stars have planetary systems, and not all of those that do have planetary systems are developed, but their influence is hard to imagine.

‘If you want to become the Emperor of the Universe, you will eventually have to have guys like that under you and command them.’

Although it wasn’t my intention from the beginning, once I created the Knights of Luminaris, I had no intention of it ending at the level of a martial arts club.

If I were to become the Emperor of the Human Empire while keeping bugs in check as I had thought, I would have to spread my influence to the scale of the galaxy, not to mention the planetary system.

That way, even if I sit on the throne, the chances of the dukes tearing the empire apart while claiming independence are low.

There are probably some who want to become independent. If the emperor changes out of nowhere, it is inevitable that some will have different thoughts.

Growing my power was also a task to prevent the empire from being torn apart too much when something like that happened.

‘Of course, I plan to use the Knights to infiltrate my influence within the existing order rather than explicitly taking over the galaxy.’

There was no change in the fact that power had to be called in one direction or another.

I spoke to Kai Delshad, who stood still and waited for my instructions.

“I’ll treat the injured separately. I’m sure they did well, but just make sure they receive first aid so they don’t die.”

    “Yes, I did that.”

“After you’ve figured out the family relationships and basic tendencies of the applicants, send them to the Citadel. Then, after their training is over, it would be a good idea to send them back to their original hometowns. That would be a good way to create a good image for the Knights Templar.”

“Is basic education conducted in the same way as before?”

    “Yeah.”

When we talk about the Citadel and basic training here, we are referring to the research facilities we occupy and the preparations for passing down martial arts.

The reason I named the research facility the Citadel was because the group I founded had an identity as a Knightly Order.

I couldn’t help it because that was the only good name that came to mind.

‘It’s not a bad name. Since they’re secretly using an entire satellite, it’s somewhat in line with its original meaning as a fortress.’

The research facility requires only a very small portion of my time.

As long as the original purpose was Telos and the facilities to produce weapons and equipment, it honestly didn’t matter what happened to the rest of the area.

As a result, there was more space than expected, so it wasn’t difficult to allocate the remaining area to the Knights.

Those who wish to join the company would receive training there and grow into excellent subordinates.

And the preparation for passing down martial arts was entirely Maria’s responsibility.

‘Maria, I’ll ask you again this time.’

    -yes.

Since Maria entered my body in the form of a nanobot, she has been collecting all of my physical data.

Now that she had gained a physical body and could feel the alien energy called internal energy, honestly speaking, the information she had about the human body and martial arts was more extensive than that of any group in reality or the martial arts world.

It’s a bonus that she has already awakened her supernatural powers and is handling supernatural forces.

In that sense, a supernatural phenomenon refers to a mysterious phenomenon that cannot be explained by the existing laws of natural science, but honestly, at the point where Maria deals with supernatural powers, I thought it would be difficult to call it supernatural any longer.

Anyway, Maria’s preparations weren’t that special to me.

Because she was injected with her nanobots, which were cloned using the Citadel’s facilities.

Those who express a desire to join the Knights Templar are injected with nanobots during the initiation ceremony.

The nanobots were named ‘Light of Novaris’.

Since I was now impersonating the Saint of Novaris, I had to give the nanobots I injected them with a plausible name.

The initiation ceremony involves me personally injecting nanobots and giving a sort of blessing.

Among the Knights, this process was referred to as ‘accepting the light’.

‘People tend to attach meaning to names. The name ‘The Knights of Luminaris’ is one such example.’

However, what they were injected with were not nanobots with the same performance as Maria, but nanobots that were only used for limited purposes.

Even though it wasn’t that special to me, it wasn’t that special to other people.

The functions of the nanobots injected in this way are twofold.

One was to adjust the subject’s body to be suitable for learning martial arts.

The biggest obstacle for the knights to learn martial arts was their blood and energy that had hardened due to their age.

Although the Qi and blood were passages through which Qi flowed that did not physically exist, it did not mean that they were completely unaffected by the physical state of the body.

Maria discovered through the data accumulated so far that nanobots can indirectly affect the condition of blood vessels, muscles, and bones near the blood vessels.

The nanobots she created were adjusted to fit the bodies of the Knights so that they could learn martial arts.

Another function was to assist in learning martial arts.

However, not everyone could sit cross-legged leisurely and practice the internal energy method.

So the first thing I applied was Alvaroi’s martial arts.

Because with Alvaroi’s martial arts, you can increase your power sufficiently without having to build up your internal energy.

Of course, when dealing with bugs, the Alvaroi fighting technique, which is based on dealing with humans, was not effective enough, but even martial arts were less effective when dealing with bizarre monsters like bugs.

And since Alvaroi’s martial arts include using not only melee weapons but also long-range weapons like guns, in some ways this was more suitable for immediate application in real combat.

-I thought you only taught martial arts, but that’s unexpected. I guess you plan on raising him properly?

‘That’s the way to go if you want to take the throne. And in a world where plasma rifles are running around, you can’t tell your subordinates to just swing their swords.’

Since it was possible to learn martial arts and Albaroi’s martial arts simultaneously, there was no need to separate the two.

Since nanobots will help you anyway, learning won’t be that difficult.

After capturing the Citadel, they stayed there for several more months and successfully produced Telos.

Later, I thought I would give some of my most loyal members the opportunity to be administered Telos.

I looked at Kai Delshad standing upright in front of me.

Like all other Knights, he was one of those who accepted the nanobots created by Maria.

He too was injected with nanobots, and his shooting accuracy and fighting skills improved beyond recognition.

Could it be because of that? In the original, he seemed to be a commander-type leader who gave orders from behind, but now he was showing off his skills as a leader of the assault team who took the lead in the field.

‘If I were to give Telos to my subordinates, I would give it to the captain first.’

Thinking about the more difficult tasks I’ll have to take on in the future, I should awaken my good abilities. This isn’t something I can choose, I had no choice.

‘It would be nice if we had something like regenerative abilities.’

However, I felt that if that happened, the rumors would spread a bit since my ability to heal people with the Healing Rosary and Kai Delshard’s regenerative powers would be combined.

Even now, there seem to be many rumors going around because of me treating the wounded… If Kai Delshad really gained regenerative powers, if he learned martial arts, there was no way that strange rumors wouldn’t spread, like he would become immortal.

He shook his head, got up from his seat, and headed outside.

“Put your loot in the cargo hold as you always did.”

    “Okay.”

“I guess I should call Basnit.”
