Chapter Index

    Kai.

His full name is Kai Delshad.

As I said before, Nova Empire is the original science fiction novel for the game Star Capital.

And at the same time, there was something different about Nova Empire than ordinary novels. That is, rather than everything being narrated from the protagonist’s perspective, the story progresses in a narrative style similar to a history book of the world used by the author.

In some ways, it is closer to a collection of settings than a novel.

Because of that, there was no one character in this work that could be specifically singled out as the main character.

Although there is no one main character, there were bound to be important characters who would become involved in important events, and one of them was Kai Delshad.

The leader of the future rebels who rebelled against the Lazarian family that rules the Pyrenia Galaxy.

Although their rebellion was unsuccessful, they did manage to inflict some minor damage on their family’s capital planet, the Ignis System.

It’s hard to believe that this was an achievement carried out by a rebel group led by a mere immigration broker.

Even if it was something that happened due to a combination of coincidences and circumstances, it was still an incredible feat to have struck down a family that ruled over a galaxy.

    ‘Well, that’s for later.’

Now he was nothing more than a penniless man with no background or connections.

One of the more common immigration brokers around the planet, simply moving refugees to other planets.

I looked down at Kai, who was looking up at me with a blank expression.

He had light caramel skin, curly brown hair, and amber eyes. He was a unique man who was painted all over in brown tones. His face was thick, and if there were a desert people in a fantasy world, he would look like this.

‘If you wash it cleanly, you’ll have some charisma and be worth looking at.’

When I think of a man like that becoming a rebel leader, I am reminded of the puppy poop fairy tale I read when I was young. The puppy poop that made dandelions bloom by using itself as fertilizer.

Isn’t it similar that a man who was nothing more than an immigration broker sacrifices his life to become a spiritual symbol against the space aristocracy?

Although I thought it was extremely rude to compare people to poop.

What I wanted from him was not for him to immediately awaken and become the leader of the rebels.

The only thing of use to him now was the location of the abandoned facility buried in his memory.

Infrastructure required for mass production and equipment production of Telos ampoules.

The facility that Kai knows about is mentioned very briefly in the original work, in one paragraph or so.

[He suddenly thought about the research facility he had discovered before. It seemed to have been built by the Valkyrians and Serapians in collaboration. Perhaps the two families had planned it together, but some conflict arose and it was abandoned and forgotten. Considering all the incidents and accidents that had been happening throughout the universe, one abandoned facility like that wasn’t that special. But now, it was meaningless. Now, he was banished from the Pioneer Galaxy and was being pursued by the Lazarians. Unless he died and was scattered to the dust of space, he would definitely never be able to visit there again.]

If it weren’t for Maria, I probably wouldn’t have remembered it. In fact, I’ve never read Nova Empire myself. It was all Maria who reviewed and recommended it.

However, judging from the fact that he expressed considerable regret in the work, it was clear that the abandoned facility was also a desirable target for the rebels.

“Can’t you hear me? I’m embarrassed because there’s no answer.”

Kai Delshad’s gaze never left the flames that filled the alley behind me.

The answer came back from Mary instead.

“This guy is Kai Delshard. He must have lost his mind for a moment because of his master’s power.”

“Tsk, it seems like my mental strength is pretty useless at this point.”

    Bam.

    “Ugh, eww… !”

Finally, when I couldn’t wait any longer and tapped his shoulder, he jumped up like a cat that had seen a cucumber. Judging from the way he got up so violently from where he had been sitting on the floor, he didn’t seem to be hurt anywhere.

    “Everyone, everyone, who are you?”

“We are an exploration team exploring the changing planets. If you want to give it a name, call us Awaken.”

Since I didn’t have a group name in mind for the Nova Empire, I just used a name I was familiar with.

Perhaps it was because he had revealed his identity and told us what to call him. Kai Delshad’s eyes, which had seemed to be seeing a ghost, calmed down.

“Awaken… This is the first time I’ve heard of this expedition.”

“That would be possible. I just got back from my first expedition.”

“The new exploration team has these weapons? What organization is sponsoring this exploration team? ”

In Nova Empire, there are weapons that resemble superpowers, but there are no superpowers themselves. So it wasn’t strange for him to assume that my superpower, which burned down a back alley in an instant, was a special weapon.

“Don’t misunderstand. We are not an expedition working under someone. It was not an order from anyone to come to you, but a decision purely based on my own intentions.”

    “You want something from me?”

He has an expression on his face that says he doesn’t know what they want from him, who is just an immigration broker.

Instead of getting straight to the point, I looked around.

“Let’s get out of here for now. Isn’t there a safe place you know of?”

Although they tried to burn only the gangsters to avoid causing damage to the surrounding area, it is possible that the sudden flames may have attracted attention from outside the alley.

It was difficult to be chased by Jamad, who was in charge of this place, before I had even had a proper conversation with this guy.

I am confident that I can escape, but then I will have to extract information through kidnapping and interrogation rather than simply asking for cooperation.

I wouldn’t mind doing it alone, but my conscience was a little pricked by doing something like that while other people were watching.

    “… Follow me.”

Kai Delshard also seemed to agree with me completely, and without a word, he turned around and began to guide me. He must have been so flustered at first that his legs gave out, but he seemed to have pulled himself together relatively quickly.

Although he was a worthless person in many ways, including mental strength, he was definitely someone who showed potential for growth.

We wandered around the alleys as if we were wandering, and when we arrived at a store with blackened exterior windows,

As he opened the door with his accustomed manner, loud music and the smell of alcohol came into the room.

“A bar? I’d rather take you to your house.”

“This is the safest place around here. It’s a kind of neutral zone. My house is on the outskirts of the city, so the security is not very good. If we rush in like this, some crazy guy might break down the door while we’re talking.”

As I glanced behind me, it seemed like he had figured out that my group was all women.

It seemed as if he was wary of us and didn’t want to reveal his home location, but it seemed like his reason wasn’t entirely a lie.

“Based on what I just saw, I don’t think anyone would get hurt if something like that happened… ”

“The house will be a mess. Yeah. The bar isn’t so bad either.”

Fortunately, this bar had tables with partitions in a corner, so it didn’t seem like a bad place to have a conversation.

‘It feels like a relay station for some kind of transaction.’

The other party members, including Moon Ji-yu, were shocked at the various smells wafting through their noses, the bizarre interior, and the cyborgs with parts of their bodies replaced with machines, but Olivia, who especially enjoyed such unique experiences, kept looking around with a face like ‘Is this real SF?’

“… Kai, are you back alive?”

“Somehow. It’s good that I won’t have to worry about my debts. Just prepare some new snacks and drinks. That bastard Ernest ate all the ones I gave you before.”

The bartender looked surprised to see Kai Delshad walking into the shop unharmed, as if he knew he was being chased.

But Kai Delshad didn’t bother explaining the situation in detail and instead led us to a table deep inside the store.

The curious bartender’s eyes followed the group for a moment before turning away. It was a brilliant move to avoid any trouble.

    Thud-

As he entered the bar, Kai Delshad seemed to relax a bit, as he threw himself into his chair almost collapsing.

“… First of all, I want to say thank you for saving me. I was in a very difficult situation, but thanks to you, I survived. ”

“Is that guy named Ernest that you spoke to the bartender the leader of the gang that was chasing you earlier? Come to think of it, I didn’t hear what happened properly.”

“You didn’t even know what was going on and just burned them all down…?”

“Well, I had to meet you right away, but you were blocking my way. The atmosphere seemed pretty bad, and it would have been bad if you died before we could even talk.”

He clenched his teeth so hard that his jaw muscles bulged to hide his expression after hearing what I said, but I could read a faint shock and fear in his eyes.

Giving favor is giving favor, and when the other party fears me, it becomes easier to get what I want.

So there were times when I deliberately spoke like a crazy person.

    ‘But I didn’t really lie.’
