Chapter Index

The awakening of superpowers was successful.

It was an awakening using a method that might seem a bit ignorant to those who don’t know.

All we had to do was take the meteorite out into a special room reinforced with thin starlight plates and make contact with it over as wide an area as possible.

The sight of him sitting with meteorites stuck all over his body looked quite comical.

But there’s nothing I can do.

Because you can’t melt Starlight and inject it into two people’s bodies like in American comics.

If a normal person were to do something like that, rather than using it as material from the beginning to create a body like Maria, it would be nothing more than a bizarre method of murder.

In fact, I considered the possibility that the meteorite would lose all of its power and fail to awaken, but thanks to the investment of meteorite and starlight, which have astronomical monetary value, in this awakening attempt, both of them were able to obtain their superpowers without a hitch.

It took three days for that awakening to occur.

Moon Ji-yu and Sera seemed quite disappointed, thinking that they had failed, as they showed no signs of developing superpowers even after two days, unlike me who had awakened in about a day.

But when I finally succeeded in awakening on the third day, I burst into laughter even though I had a high fever all over my body as a reaction.

“Now, I can use my superpowers too?”

“Okay. For now, I’ll rest well and try again when my body returns to normal.”

“Hehehe… I want to check it out soon. I’m so curious to see what kind of superpowers I’ll get.”

Moon Ji-yu and Sarah took turns expressing their anticipation for superpowers.

While the two were struggling with the fever, I placed a wet towel on their foreheads and gave them some advice.

“Instead, you should use it as gently as possible. I don’t know what kind of superpower you’ve acquired, but when you first awaken and use your superpower, it’s hard to control its power, so you might go berserk. I’m not worried about getting hurt, but you might get hurt, so I’m saying this.”

    “Okay… ”

    “Yes… ”

    And the very next day.

As if they had never been so excited, they were in better condition than before and were jumping around.

And the two people also discovered the true nature of their awakened superpowers.

“Oh my god… Is this really my superpower?”

“I think you know better, right? Doesn’t it feel natural, like you’ve grown another hand, but still used it like you’ve been used to it?”

“No, but that’s… It’s that hard to believe.”

Moon Ji-yu looked around in admiration at the shadows surrounding her body.

    Yes, that’s right.

    shadow.

Moon Ji-yu’s superpower was the ability to control shadows.

If we were to give this superpower a name, we could call it Shadowkinesis, or Umbrakinesis.

If it ended there, it would only be a superpower that helps with shadow play, but the shadows she controls are different from ordinary shadows.

    Slurp-

The shadow that had been wrapping around Moon Ji-yu’s body as if she was wearing a black dress slowly began to unravel.

The sight looked like a black snake, or like flowing black cloth.

The shadow that left Moon Ji-yu’s body headed towards a glass bottle far away.

    “… is all right?”

I nodded to Moon Ji-yu, who looked at me and asked cautiously.

She swallowed hard, then raised her finger toward the vial and drew a quick horizontal line.

    Crunch-

The glass bottle was cut horizontally with a small cutting sound.

Just as she drew her finger in the air.

And as she made a gesture as if grasping the air, the shadow surrounding the broken glass contracted.

    Wow, wow

The glass bottle shattered into pieces with a sharp noise.

“How about it? Since it deals with shadows, it might be more powerful at night.”

“I guess so, considering it was easier to move the shadow in the shade. It definitely seems to take a lot more strength in the sunlight… but it’s still usable. It seems more comfortable when it’s close to the body.”

Moon Ji-yu looked down at his hands with a curious look.

I could read a faint excitement in her voice.

She’s the oldest among the group and the same age as me, so she doesn’t seem to show it on purpose, but she still can’t completely hide the excitement she feels from using her superpowers herself.

The moment you awaken your superpower, you automatically learn how to use it.

It’s similar to the feeling when you grasp an object with your hand or when your limbs move on their own when you walk forward.

Of course, that doesn’t mean everyone learns how to run before they can walk, and it’s not like everyone can control their bodies as thoroughly as a gymnast, so they have to practice.

The skills she demonstrated just now could be said to be at the level of a baby walking.

“If you wrap yourself in shadows at night and hide in the darkness, you can achieve almost perfect stealth.”

“Oh…! Good idea. How about trying out a ninja cosplay while you’re at it? An assassin hiding in the dark! If I could do that, I could sneak out at night even if it’s hard during the day!”

Moon Ji-yu said playfully, her eyes sparkling.

She was quite popular as a singer-songwriter, so it was difficult for her to move around freely, but she seemed very pleased when I told her that she might be able to move around without being noticed by others.

‘Ninja cosplay… that might be okay too.’

He continued talking while imagining how he would harass Moon Ji-yu in his ninja uniform in this way and that.

“You have to keep thinking about and trying to come up with ways to apply this. Depending on how you apply it, even a seemingly insignificant superpower can become powerful, and even a superpower that seems great can only do trivial things. This is especially true for superpowers like yours that have many applications.”

    “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Still, this is pretty good for a first timer. Honestly, when I first used my superpowers, I thought I’d just make a mess of the surroundings, but you only hit the bottles I was aiming for. You’re talented.”

“… So that’s why you took Sarah far away?”

I patted her shoulder and gave her some words of encouragement. I rolled my eyes and pretended not to hear her grumbling.

And the superpowers that Sarah awakened were just as unique as Moon Ji-yu’s.

“Minho oppa! I used my superpower! Now I have superpowers too!”

“… Did you use your super powers just now? Before that?”

“Yes! It’s transparent so you can’t see it, but it’s definitely in front of you!”

Sarah stood still with both hands in the air.

She clearly said she was using her superpowers, but there was no shadow, no wind, no flames, not even a single insect flying around in the air.

Still, it didn’t seem like the story about him using superpowers was a lie.

She was a full-time streamer who had been streaming for several years. She was a woman who had been worn down in an industry where one wrong word could send her into ruin, so she was not the type of person to tell lies that would be easily caught.

Certainly, the fact that he was lying sick at the same time as Moon Ji-yu was also a clear symptom of the awakening of his supernatural powers.

‘I’m your boyfriend. I have no reason to lie to my lover.’

If so, it was likely a type of superpower that was invisible to anyone other than the user.

There are already similar superpowers, such as telekinesis.

‘No, Sera said that you can’t see it with your eyes. You just instinctively know that it’s there.’

I believed Sarah when she said she was using her superpowers, and I felt the empty space in front of her with my senses.

    “!”

Indeed, as Sarah had said, there was something in the air.

Something more transparent than glass or ice, but in the shape of a thick plate.

I carefully reached out and touched it.

    Woof…

“Hey! I see it! Minho oppa! I see my superpower!”

It was just as she said.

When I put my hand on it, a transparent plate floating in the air began to vibrate slightly and reveal itself.

The transparent plate vibrated regularly from the part where my hand touched, creating blue waves.

    Woof…

I tested it by tapping and sliding the transparent, blue-wave-emitting plate to the side.

And I asked Sarah about her superpowers.

“How does it feel to use your superpowers?”

“Hmm… I feel like there’s something separating the board.”

“Can you make this bigger? Like increasing the width or thickness. Or maybe changing the position or shape.”

“I think I can do it! I’ll try!”

She answered briskly, frowning as she concentrated.

Then, the transparent plate that was felt to be in the air began to change shape.

It was a plate that had grown in size while slowly becoming thicker, and now it was difficult to even call it a plate.

Anyway, Sarah’s superpower perfectly surrounded her in a hemisphere.

    “… … !”

    “… I can’t hear what you’re saying, but I can tell you’re excited.”

I nodded while watching Sarah talking excitedly.

One peculiar thing was that beyond the transparent supernatural power she had created, neither my senses nor my voice could reach her.

It’s like when you see a delivery box with your eyes and you know that there’s a box there, but you can’t see through it to see what’s inside.

I concluded from Sarah’s description and my own observations of the features.

    “Is this… a boundary?”
