Chapter Index

The journey with Princess Lydia continued to be arduous.

It wasn’t just that it was difficult to take care of her, because if you just left her alone, something would happen, but each day was physically quite threatening.

“Tie up all the women and kill all the dickheads!”

“Fuck, look at that bitch’s butt! Grab those tits before she sells them and just… bang!!”

Or, you could have a fight with bandits who suddenly appeared from the crack of dawn on the first day.

    ‘Kreuk, Kehehehehe!!’

    ‘Kkiheeek!! Hehe, hehehehehe!!’

The second night, they fought for hours against a horde of goblins and hobgoblins led by an orc general.

“Hold on a second. Who gave you permission to drive a carriage around here?”

“This is Baron Yeremov’s territory. If you want to pass through this territory, you must show the Baron’s official document.”

“If there is no official document, they will check for a moment… Ugh?!”

There are people who look like criminals to anyone who sees them, pretending to be nobles and trying to take carriages to strange places.

Even though it was an outer border area, the security situation was really bad. It was like encountering bandits and monsters once every half day.

    -Thump, thud!

    “Wow?! What, what is it?!”

“Sorry! I tripped on a rock and broke my wagon wheel! Please step down for a moment while I repair it with a spare wheel!”

Even when it seemed like nothing was happening, the carriage itself was causing trouble.

During the journey, the carriage wheels broke no fewer than five times, so it was fortunate that only the wheels were broken and not the carriage itself.

As I watched Lydia calmly replace the spare wheels piled up in the carriage hold, I couldn’t help but have many thoughts.

‘That’s why in the original, it took a week to just travel to the next country…’

It was a close neighboring country that could easily be reached in three to four days if only considering the one-way distance, but if all sorts of accidents and attacks occurred along the way, it was inevitable that time would be delayed.

And as I said before, because of Princess Raini’s constitution, she couldn’t just come into the village, so these hardships were expected to continue in the future.

“Stop! This is General Kargan’s territory, and you are trespassing without permission… .”

    “… Again?”

Agnes sighs as she hears voices coming from outside the carriage, thinking that they must have encountered bandits or thieves somewhere.

She couldn’t hide her annoyance, perhaps because she had just burned a group of monsters just two hours ago.

“I am just passing through to leave the kingdom. Please refrain from being rude as there are nobles on board.”

“How can I believe your claim that you are just passing through? If you take off your clothes and lie down naked here, I might pass you by out of consideration. By the way, you are precious people… I should at least say hello to you, how precious are you on board?”

“… Let’s get off for now. Judging by the noise I can feel outside, there seem to be about thirty people.”

“There are fewer people than last night. Agnes is also positive.”

    “… Sigh, it’s annoying.”

“Hey! Come out! How precious of a bastard are you to be pulling such a fancy carriage?!”

Silena’s arrow hit the bandit’s forehead with great precision as he leaned his head toward the back of the carriage, and the bald man’s body fell backwards.

    “What, what the fuck?!”

“Roden got hit! Hey! Everyone, stick to him! There’s a kid inside using a bow… .”

    -Whoaaah!

“… If there are people who use bows, you should assume that there are also people who use swords!”

The rest of the warrior party, including Gyeomjossegi, ran out in time with Silena’s attack.

Everyone except Princess Raini, Ethan and I, ran out of the carriage and started hunting bandits as usual.

… Now, everyone seemed so skilled that you could really see that they were used to hunting humans.

    -Phew!

    “Keuheup, keuheuuk… !!”

“Sir, I’ve taken care of all the bandits here!”

    “This side too! Agnes!”

“… Those guys who ran away are over there.”

“There doesn’t seem to be any humans approaching from further away. Even with my elven eyesight, I can’t see them.”

Agnes points to the bandits (past tense) who have turned into charcoal and makes a tired expression, and Silena’s voice roughly tells us that the situation is over.

“Thank you for your hard work, everyone. I sincerely thank you for helping me like this.”

“You get it for free, so you have to do this much. Just collect the body and quickly go again.”

    “… Yes, I checked.”

After collecting some copper and silver coins from the fallen bandits’ corpses, I left the rest behind. Agnes had a few fire-crackers, so she sniffed around and soon enough, wild monsters would come out and I would have to deal with them.

I think I’ve picked so many pockets of bandits over the past few days that I’ve probably collected at least one gold coin. I didn’t count it though.

“Certainly, there are more thieves than you might imagine, perhaps because it is the outskirts of the empire. Miss Lydia, you should also be careful when driving a carriage.”

“Is that so? Our town is also in the outskirts, but there weren’t this many there, right, Thomas?”

“… Isha Village was somewhat peaceful. Not all frontiers are the same.”

“Hmm, really? Well, if Thomas says so, then so be it!”

    “… … .”

    “… … .”

    “… … .”

Except for Natalie, everyone else had probably guessed a few days ago that the endless attacks by bandits and monsters were due to Princess Raini’s bad luck.

Princess Raini’s bad luck was well known even before she entered Luminor Academy, and more than anything, everyone saw with their own eyes how unlucky Princess Raini was during the few days they spent together.

However, even if you know that, you can’t protest to Princess Raini, and the warrior party is a group that puts the opinion of the Gyeomjoshaegi Party first and foremost.

Most of the party simply followed the warrior, thinking there must be a reason for him to go. Like Ethan, who had no choice but to follow me when I told him I was going abroad.

    “… … .”

    “… Then, let’s start again.”

Princess Raini bows her head, unable to hide her guilt over the fact that her unlucky constitution has caused trouble for others.

We all tried hard not to notice her true feelings and quietly got into the carriage and continued our arduous journey.

    ⁎ ⁎ ⁎

Princess Raini and the warrior party finished their carriage journey that took almost a week, with the schedule being delayed several times a day.

After crossing the border and arriving at the capital of the Kingdom of Defrin, we got off the carriage as if it were a given and walked directly to the palace.

“There’s a carriage, but I never thought it would move on foot.”

“There’s no choice, Miss Agnes. If you were to enter the capital right now in a large object like Princess Raini’s carriage, you’d have to walk ten steps before the carriage would crash.”

    “… I know that too.”

Because it was Agnes who had been watching Princess Raini’s misfortunes in all sorts of ways for a week already.

There was even one time when Princess Raini was almost hit by Agnes’ magic because of her ‘bad luck’.

An accident where a bandit tried to block her magic by using something nearby to block his face, which happened to be a magic scroll, and the magic written on the scroll the bandit used ‘happened’ to be a reflection magic, and the direction that Agnes’ magic bounced off of the scroll ‘happened’ to be the direction of the carriage that Princess Raini was riding in.

I was nervous thinking about the one and only situation, so fortunately I was able to block it with Sayi’s wind magic. If I had made a mistake, Princess Raini would have suffered burns all over her body just a few days before her twentieth birthday.

If you were to pull a carriage in such a densely populated area with her, you knew what was going to happen. Children would run into the carriage and get hit, drunks would get run over by the carriage wheels, or the carriages would collide and cause a major accident.

Even if misfortune itself was constant, it was the role of Princess Raini’s escort maid, Lydia, to at least make it a ‘manageable level’ of misfortune.

    -Ugh.

    “… Oh, sorry.”

    -Whoaaah!

    “Ahhh, ahhhh!!”

“Of course you should be sorry. For taking someone else’s wallet so shamelessly.”

… Well, I guess it would turn out like this.

After entering the capital and walking for less than five minutes, a pickpocket who had no fear in trying to steal a warrior’s wallet was subdued, and several other accidents, big and small, occurred after that.

    “Gyaaah!!”

“Words, words are crazy! Everyone run away!”

    “Eeee!! Stop! I said stop!!”

“I’ll stop it! Everyone, get behind me!”

As soon as they entered the main road, the horse tied to the carriage got excited and ran towards the group, but Thomas blocked the horse with the shield he was holding and knocked it out.

“This kid! Did he just say everything?!”

“What, you little brat! If you don’t like getting cursed at, then pay me back first!!”

“Hey you guys. I’m passing through here, so could you step aside for a moment?”

“What the hell are you, you punk?! What kind of weird punk is slinging a girl?!”

“… Well, if you were a person who would listen to what I said, you wouldn’t be making a fuss in a place like this.”

In an attempt to avoid the carriage accident, Ethan heads towards an alley and gets caught up in a fight between drunkards.

“Kekekeke. Hey, you guys. When you’re talking nice, leave the girls alone and get out. If you want to live… .”

    -Denggeong!

“We’ve been delayed a lot, so I’ll just kill these people and pass by.”

“What, what is this bitch! Legion all at once…!”

As expected, a bunch of bad guys gathered just by going into a slightly deeper alley, and a fight broke out, starting with Lydia beating the balls off one of them.

I feel like I’m getting caught up in all kinds of fights and accidents with every step I take.

Even after passing through the capital city gate, it took three hours of fighting before I could finally reach the main gate of the palace.
