Chapter Index

Most of what I did while the play was on stage was similar.

Backstage, I desperately memorize the next lines while reading the script Penelope prepared for me. When I stand on stage, I slowly recite the lines I have memorized as best I can and immerse myself in the emotions.

Although this was my first time playing the role of Julia, I already knew the content of the play through ‘Luminor Academy’, so it was going well.

Ethan, who ended up getting into this play because of me, is doing better than I expected.

“Oh, rather than marry Paris, I’d rather jump off a cliff, or go into a goblin-swarming nest! Or give me a place in a charnel house full of rotten skulls! If Leon, who has already taken my heart, is not my opponent, I’ll do anything to keep this integrity!”

“Ah, Julia. I feel the same way as you. I can’t let that pot-bellied nobleman take you away! If you give your integrity, which is more precious than all of McCoy’s wealth, to such a scoundrel, I will tear down the walls of Paris until I am reduced to skeletons!”

    … Really, you’re doing well.

Since I had studied acting in my past life, I quickly got used to the strong vocalization and exaggerated gestures characteristic of acting, but even though it was Ethan’s first time, he quickly immersed himself in the role and delivered appropriate lines.

Even in my case, I was cutting my lines by half when they were nearly ten lines long, but Ethan was saying the original lines almost without any mistakes. Thanks to that, I was able to follow his lines without missing any in a play where breathing was important.

She was truly incredibly talented in many ways. It’s a shame that the original game didn’t recognize that her mother was Thanasia, which was such a fraudulent talent.

“Tomorrow night, I will wait for you in the forest where the magic falls. If that forest is full of monsters, then even McCoy’s greedy man will not be able to find you until daybreak! I will go to a place where neither Hatfield nor McCoy are, a place no one knows, and whisper love under the same pillow for the rest of my life.”

“Ah, I get it, Leon! The forest where the magic falls is scary, but if you’re by my side, nothing dangerous will happen. Even if the forest is filled with goblins, werewolves, and orcs, Leon, who is stronger than anyone else, will protect you. You’re completely different from that idiot Paris!”

“I will wait until tomorrow morning, my love, Julia.”

… Ethan turns his head away and leaves in the opposite direction, in an atmosphere where it seems like they might kiss at any moment.

I also regained my senses for a moment and quickly turned my back on him and left. Leon and Julia had already entered the climax.

‘The last scene was the scene where they shared Julia’s poison and collapsed together.’

A scene where Julia, mistaking Leon for a monster in the forest, commits suicide by drinking poison she had secretly hidden away, and just before closing her eyes, Leon appears and cries, unable to prevent the tragedy.

And the ending of the play between Leon and Julia was that she told Leon about the vial in her pocket and asked him to be with her even in the afterlife.

It’s surprisingly not a happy ending for a play where favorability increases, but it can’t be helped since the original is Romeo and Juliet. In the game, the setting is that the heroine’s favorability increases significantly after realizing the importance of the protagonist through tragedy, so there wasn’t much of a problem.

‘This is the last time, so don’t make any mistakes.’

With those thoughts and during the brief scene transition time, as I was about to recite my last line backstage, Penelope snatched the script from my hands.

    -widely!

“Release Yang! I don’t have time to look at the script right now!”

    “Huh?!”

“Lastly, you have to change into your outerwear! You don’t have much time to change, so get ready quickly!”

    “Huh, huh?!”

    Okay, wait?!

I haven’t even memorized the last part of the lines yet?!

    ⁎ ⁎ ⁎

After changing into a costume suitable for the final stage due to Penelope’s excitement, I went back on stage.

As she said, it was a really precarious time, because as soon as I changed from the clothes I was wearing to the next costume, I had to go back on stage.

Since it is the last stage, it seems like the time was allocated in such a way that the emotional line is not interrupted as much as possible. It may be good for those watching the play, but for me, it was a considerable crisis.

‘What should I do, I haven’t memorized the last line…?’

The left pocket of the right skirt… No, was it the second pocket on the right side of the petticoat? Anyway, why are all of Julia’s lines so long and full of modifiers?

There are parts where only Ethan speaks in the middle, so you have no choice but to somehow remember it during that time.

“It’s nice that the quiet darkness hides my body, but how many other things are hiding beneath this darkness besides me! It’s okay, because Leon’s black sword can cut down evil goblins, giant orcs, and even terrifying dragons from mythology with a single stroke!

By the way, has Leon not arrived yet? It’s already past our appointed time… No, maybe he entered the forest first… What should I do if I’m too late and miss him? But what if Leon arrives after I enter the forest? Oh, if I knew this would happen, I should have told him to leave a signal, you stupid Julia! ”

    … So far, so good.

Because I still remember the lines from the beginning that I had memorized in a hurry after changing clothes. And the highlight part of the play meant that it was an event that I had seen countless times in the original game, so it also meant that it remained in my head as basic knowledge.

I just thought about how to keep the play from breaking up as much as possible and just blurted out the lines as they came to my mind, following the flow of my consciousness.

“Ah, right! At times like this, I should leave a sign that I’m here! With this handkerchief, Leon will remember me! Let’s put this handkerchief down at the entrance to the forest and go in!

If Leon finds the handkerchief too late, he will realize that I am here and come into the forest. If Leon is already in the forest, just go in and look for it! Julia, you are a genius! ”

    -Ugh.

“… Ah, of all times, my nose is bleeding. What can I do? I have no choice but to wipe it with the handkerchief I happen to have!”

After somehow finishing the first half of the lines, he hid behind some background props, and the play’s climax continued smoothly thereafter.

Leon, who thought that she had been attacked by a monster after seeing Julia’s blood-stained handkerchief, followed Julia into the forest. Then, Julia, who encountered a monster in the forest, hurriedly ran away and came back out of the forest to wait for Leon.

After waiting for a long time, Julia notices that her handkerchief has disappeared and realizes that she has crossed paths with Leon. She commits suicide by drinking poison while acting in despair, and Leon returns after searching the forest for a long time to find her.

    “Julia! Come on, Julia!”

    “… … .”

… I somehow managed to remember up to this point and proceed with the play, but unfortunately I couldn’t remember the last line.

Now, at this point, Julia asks Leon if he will drink the same poison as her and die together, and Leon nods without hesitation to the offer, drinks Julia’s poison, and they collapse together, which is the end of the play.

‘Was it a vial the size of a finger in the second pocket of my left petticoat? No, come to think of it, was it really a petticoat?’

“… Oh, Julia! Please open your eyes, Julia! ”

Ethan desperately ad-libs to kill time while I take a moment to gather my thoughts to remember the exact lines.

If we dragged it on any longer, an accident could have occurred, so we had to make a decision here.

‘… Let’s just continue on to what we know. If I can’t remember Ambassador Jeong, I’ll try to cover it up by taking it out of my pocket myself.’

After making a decision in my mind, I slowly opened my eyes and saw Ethan’s face up close, filling both of my eyes.

I don’t know if it was because he was wearing theatrical makeup, but Ethan’s impression felt even more intense than usual, and for a moment I felt like my breath was being held.

    “Julia!”

    “… … .”

    “Julia, are you awake?!”

    “… Le, Leon… ?”

    “Julia! Are you okay? Julia!”

    Okay, stop shaking for a second… I can’t think of a line… .

Next time, I had to tell her that I committed suicide by drinking poison and ask her if she loved me and wanted to die with me, but I just couldn’t think of what to say next.

I was already confused because of Ethan’s face looking at me from up close, and he had been shaking my body since a while ago and was constantly confusing my head.

‘T, this is why the vial in my pocket… Ah, no, first I should tell you that he committed suicide by drinking poison… ’

“Julia! Why are you so weak! Get up, Julia!”

    “Le, Leon… . I’m sorry… .”

    … Haa, I don’t know.

Let it be, it will be. As Penelope said, the play is all about momentum anyway.

With the determination to boldly skip over the intermediate process, I lifted my face to Ethan’s face, who was holding me.

    “… Huh!”

    “Uh?!”

She kissed Ethan on stage in front of hundreds of people.
