Chapter Index

Rain, who got out of my arms, ran quickly and clung to the door of the building.

I approached him, tilting my head at his actions.

“Ugh… Jeff, the door won’t open.”

    “The door?”

Lane was pushing the door with all his might.

When I looked at the door, it seemed to be an automatic door operated by a sensor, but even when Rain and I were within the detection range, the door did not open.

It seemed like Lane was trying to force it open.

    “Ugh!”

Lane tries to open the door with all his might, even on tiptoe.

If she had used her abilities, it would have been easy to open, but Rain is trying to open the door with just her own strength.

    But it doesn’t open.

The tightly closed door looked as if it had no intention of opening.

Eventually, Lane collapsed on the floor with a tearful face.

    “Hmm…”

According to the information my grandfather sent me, it wasn’t a company that had any holidays.

If so, is there something going on?

I pressed against the transparent glass door and looked inside.

Rain, who was sitting on the floor, also clung to the door like me.

    “There are people.”

    “Yeah.”

There were definitely people inside the building.

But, for some reason, I feel like I have no energy.

Everyone was walking around the building with a tired look on their face.

    Knock knock-

Rain raised his small hand and knocked on the door.

It seemed as if he was saying, “Look here~” and I couldn’t help but laugh.

But despite Rain’s efforts, no one paid any attention to us.

Do you have no intention of coming out from the inside?

I left the rain leaning against the door and started to walk around the side of the building.

    “Ahh! Jeff, let’s go together!”

Rain, who realized belatedly that I was gone, runs towards me and clings to me.

I headed to the back of the building with Rain.

If there is a front entrance, there will also be a back entrance.

As I walked around the large building, there was a back door as expected.

Rain, who discovered the door, ran to it like before and hung on to it.

He clings to the high doorknob and shakes the door with his whole body.

    But it didn’t open.

    “Open up~”

RATTLE RATTLE – The door rattled as Rain shook it with his whole body, but it still wouldn’t open.

It looked like it was locked from the inside.

I picked up Rain, who was hanging on the doorknob, and stepped back.

“It’s not even a day off, but the door is locked.”

“Aren’t you saying you won’t accept guests?”

    “Umm…”

I took out my cell phone with a skeptical mind and called the company.

The ringing sound continued for a long time, but no one answered the phone.

“You’re not even answering the phone.”

    “Shall I sneak in?”

    “Um…”

I shook my head at Rain’s words.

If you wanted to go in, you could, but if you did, it would be hard to avoid your grandfather’s nagging.

    “I have to go undercover.”

    “Lurking?”

    “Yeah.”

I put Rain down on the floor and took my sunglasses out of my dinosaur bag.

The ones I used before were too small, so I bought these new star-shaped sunglasses.

Rain, who was looking at the scene, also took out sunglasses from his bag.

Those were the moon shaped sunglasses I used to use.

Rain and I, wearing sunglasses, headed to a cafe far away.

We took a seat outside and ordered a sweet latte and a small cake.

    “Rain.”

    “Yeah!”

Rain smiled happily at my words and ate the cake in front of me.

I reached out and wiped the cream off Lane’s cheek.

I ate the cream that got on my fingers.

“I’m going to wait for someone to come out of that building.”

“It’s been a while since I’ve done a mission. Trust me, Jeff.”

Rain patted his chest with a trusting expression.

There’s cream on the corner of my mouth again.

I smiled slightly and glanced at Rain’s lips again.

    “Hmm.”

Rain groaned softly, but did not avoid my touch.

I spent a lot of time just sitting there blankly with Rain.

I could see someone coming out from inside the building.

    “Rain!”

I jumped up from my seat and called out to Rain, who was dozing off while hugging a large baby bag.

    “Yeah!”

I quickly hugged Lane and started running down the road.

The person who got out of the building looked around and then started walking very quickly.

It was more like running than walking.

    “Is that the guy?”

“Yeah. I’m the guy who just got out of the building.”

    “Are you going to attack?”

I shook my head at Rain’s question.

A raid? Those guys aren’t bad people, so there was no need for that.

I wanted to learn more about the company called [S Construction], but I wasn’t curious enough to arrest a normal person and interrogate him.

I just started investigating because I thought it might have something to do with Shine.

    “Ouch. Jeff suddenly runs!”

As Rain said, the person we were chasing suddenly started running.

I too started running along with the movement.

The opponent ran at a very fast speed.

I continued the chase, looking around.

Is there any reason to run this fast?

I wondered if someone was following him or if they had noticed that we were following him.

But the opponent never once glanced at me or Rain.

After running after him for a while, he suddenly changed direction.

My body, which had been running smoothly, tilted to the side and fell into an alley.

    I hurried down the alley.

    “I missed it.”

I stood at the entrance to the alley and sighed.

    I missed it.

Even though I didn’t use my abilities, it was embarrassing as a former member of the resistance to fail to tail an ordinary person.

Rain, who had escaped from my arms, sneaked into the alley and began to look around.

After thinking about something with a serious expression on her face for a while, she turned around and approached me.

    Did you discover something?

I held my breath and waited for Rain to speak.

    “As expected.”

    “As expected?”

“It looks like he completely ran away.”

    Is that the end?

    I stared blankly at Rain.

Rain nodded, seeming satisfied with his words, and smiled proudly.

“What are we going to do now?”

    “Hmm.”

I let out a small sigh as I looked at the approaching lane, asking a question.

Okay, what should I do now?

I wish we could find even a small clue about Shine, but the story makes no progress at all.

Rain, who came towards me, naturally spread his arms.

Seeing her look as if she wanted me to hug her quickly, I reached out and hugged her.

    “Jeff. You look tired.”

    “Yeah. I’m not feeling well.”

I sighed and walked back to [S Construction].

    “What is it?”

As I was blankly staring at the building, I was able to discover something strange.

    The lights are off.

The lights on all floors were completely turned off.

“People seem to have disappeared too?”

I approached the door at Rain’s words.

    What she said was true.

Until just a moment ago, all the people who had been wandering around this building had disappeared.

    How did this happen?

“Couldn’t that guy just be a bait to lure us?”

“Do you think that makes sense?”

    “But that’s the situation.”

    I nodded to Rain’s words.

I wanted to believe otherwise, but that’s what happened.

As Rain said, what if the person who escaped here was a means to lure us, and everyone inside the building escaped in the meantime…?

But, why on earth? Why did you make that choice?

I frowned and looked inside the building.

    It’s suspicious.

    It’s so suspicious.

Assuming that what Rain said is true, their actions were extremely suspicious.

“I think I’ll have to stay here for a few days.”

    “Here?”

“Yeah. I need to get a hotel”

    “Oh, hotel!”

I nodded to Rain’s words and started looking for a nearby hotel.

I needed a seat by the window that looked right down at this place.

Fortunately, there was a hotel that fit those criteria perfectly.

I immediately got a room and went inside with Rain.

The only luggage I brought was the dinosaur bag I was carrying on my back.

I threw my bag on the bed and headed straight to the terrace.

A small and cozy mini garden, a roof that creates a large shade, and even a large chair placed underneath it.

I thought it would be nice to sit on that chair and watch S Construction.

    “Hmm.”

As I nodded with such a satisfied smile, I could see Rain still standing near the entrance, hesitating.

She was watching me with a blush on her face.

I looked at her, wondering what on earth she was doing, and Rain crawled onto the bed with her eyes tightly shut as if she had made up her mind about something.

Then he lies down on top of it quietly.

I was just blankly staring when Rain opened his eyes slightly and lifted my clothes slightly.

Her white thighs, revealed in white, were smooth and shiny.

I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed.

As he watched the scene quietly, Rain hesitated and opened his mouth.

“Weren’t you trying to play poke-poke?”

I shook my head at Rain’s words.

I didn’t reserve the room to play pokkok.

I took this room to watch the company for a few days.

Rain sighed as if disappointed by my answer and straightened up his clothes.

Rather than that, I wiggled my fingers while looking at Rain.

I felt like I should tell you later what a real cockroach is.

Rain and I took turns watching the building.

I kept a close eye out to see if anyone was coming into the building or if anyone was coming out of the building.

The sun that had been floating in the sky began to gradually decline, and the rain began to sag.

She had a hard time enduring boredom.

    “Jeff~”

At Rain’s words, I turned my head slightly and looked at her.

Rain was hanging on the terrace railing, crying.

Rain, being short, could not sit up and look around the building.

    Rain looked sad.

But there was nothing I could do.

I turned my head away, absorbed in a mobile game.

The World Boss was about to appear, so there was no time to worry about Rain.

    And so time passed again.

It was late in the evening, after the sun had completely set, and Rain and I sat across from each other in a room with soft lighting.

The time has come to set a night watch.

I looked at Rain with concern.

Because I was worried that Rain might fall out of the veranda while I was sleeping.

“Hey, Rain. You want to go first?”

“No! Jeff goes to sleep first!”

Rain shook his head in response to my suggestion.

I looked at Rain with a trembling expression.

She pounded her chest as if telling me to trust only her.

I felt a strange chill in his excited appearance.

Why on earth are you so excited?

Anyway, I’m relieved to hear that Rain is helping out.

I nodded and laid down on the bed.

“Then, wake me up when it’s time for our appointment? I’ll be watching from then on.”

    “Yeah!”

Rain nodded to me and placed small glass bottles around the room.

There was a diffuser inside the glass bottle.

Before long, the room was filled with a subtle, sweet scent.

    “Did Rain make it?”

    “Yeah!”

    Rain answered my question forcefully.

I smiled slightly and closed my eyes.
