Chapter Index

“Maintain minimal vigilance and allow everyone to rest freely.”

It was a strange instruction, but the crew did not question it.

The members who had gathered at the camp returned to their places following the leader’s instructions.

Even though it was on the ground somewhere in the camp, they gathered in groups of twos and threes to talk or prepare for their next shift.

The atmosphere of the campsite was strange, with a sense of relaxation and tension about the future.

The captain headed to the only tent pitched in the campground.

Anna and Judah followed his footsteps.

After entering the tent, the captain sat down on the bed and bent over.

Fatigue was clearly visible in the captain’s deep-set eyes. It seems that working with an injured body put a strain on the body.

    “Captain, are you okay?”

Anna asked cautiously, since it wasn’t that strange when she returned.

“You may have temporarily lost energy because you did not eat properly.”

Judas, who brought bandages and medicine, reassured Anna.

Judas unwrapped the bandages on the captain’s body.

Blood oozing from the poorly stitched wound was stained on the bandage.

    “I will disinfect it.”

While Judas was patting cotton and disinfecting the affected area, Anna noticed the bare skin of the colon.

A body covered in fine wounds on solid drawing paper. It was showing a condensed version of the life he had lived.

Anna’s eyes, staring at it, were filled with sympathy and lust.

“Still, it doesn’t seem like the wound has gotten worse. The blood seeping out seems to have been caused by riding the horse while recovery was not complete.”

“When do you think it will get better?”

    the captain asked.

“Under the premise of not overdoing it any further…”

Judas spread two fingers. The captain nodded as if he understood.

“Then I will change the bandage.”

Wrap a bandage tightly around the disinfected area.

Judas, who was in charge of treating the cavalry, was very meticulous.

“It’s been a long time since the captain got hurt.”

While tying the bandage, Judah chuckled.

    “Is that so.”

“Yes, that’s right. It’s good to get hurt less, but each time you get hurt, it’s a serious injury. It almost makes me think that it would be better if you get hurt lightly more often.”

    “…I’ll try my best.”

“If you can even tell jokes, you will recover soon. Even if you have difficulty eating, you must eat a meal. Anna, you take care of this.”

Because it’s obvious that I won’t take care of the captain anyway. Anna nodded as if agreeing with Judah’s words.

    “Then I’ll just leave.”

After organizing the medicine box, Judas bowed his head and went out of the tent.

“Ah, boss. When do you plan to clear the campground? I think I need to look at the wound one more time before leaving.”

With the tent half open, Judas turned his head as if he suddenly remembered something.

“I will let you know when I decide.”

    “Yes.”

After Judas left, Anna took a chair roughly placed in the tent and sat in front of the captain.

The captain, leaning down with both arms on his thighs, stared at the floor.

“Are you thinking about your next expedition? Or…”

“Are you thinking of catching a traitor?”

Anna lowered her voice and whispered.

It was already known that the cavalry had been thrown out of the kingdom. However, no matter how great the kingdom was, it could not convey the ever-changing movements of the cavalry to the empire.

Such information was only available to those who moved with the cavalry, and sadly there were no members of other organizations mixed into the cavalry.

“I guess I should catch it.”

The captain’s voice, muttering empty-handedly, was weak.

Anna did not know how deeply it struck the captain that one of his comrades, with whom he had walked the battlefield shoulder to shoulder, was a traitor.

“We will find the traitor within three days. So, the captain just needs to focus on recovery.”

Anna snorted and pounded her chest.

    “Anna Irwena.”

    “Yes?”

“What do you want me to do?”

    It was a random question.

“What do you mean by that?”

    Anna narrowed her eyes.

“If you were me, the leader of the cavalry you know, how do you think I would have overcome this situation?”

It was a random question, but Anna immediately took a stance because of the obsession contained in the question.

A glimpse of fear flashed inside my tired eyes. Anna’s heart dropped.

The captain collapsed. The captain’s will, which seemed unbreakable, was broken.

“We will follow whatever judgment the captain makes.”

    “That’s the problem.”

She spoke to reassure him, but the captain shook his head.

“…The crew may be in danger due to my hasty judgment. So, I would like you to tell me. If you knew me, what decision would you have made?”

A captain seeking answers. Anna closed her eyes.

The captain’s voice calling for help rang in my ears. I wanted to give her an answer, but Anna couldn’t.

Because the cavalry must move according to the will of its commander.

    “…Captain.”

Anna opened her closed eyes and smiled, raising the corners of her mouth.

“I will come after dinner is ready. I think resting is the priority now.”

After saying hello, Anna left the tent.

    Phew-

I was just dizzy from the unnecessarily clear sky.

Why is the sky so blue?

    She grumbled inwardly.
