Chapter Index

    Gulp-

A strange tension flows along with the sound of someone swallowing saliva.

Shine Lane and I stared at the door of the men’s room without saying a word.

And at that moment, an unexpected voice was heard from behind me.

    “Huh? You guys…”

Lucas’ voice, who had been chatting excitedly just a moment ago, could be heard from behind me.

The three of us turned around, gasping for breath.

There stood Lucas, looking at us with a surprised expression on his face.

He was holding a small box in his arms, and when he looked at us, he opened his mouth as if he had realized something.

    This is a big deal.

Could it be that I got caught?

It seemed like I moved too hastily.

    Shine and Rain me.

The three of us exchanged glances in the air.

Shine took a low starting position as if she was going to rush in at any moment.

Rain also took a rushing stance, sticking his butt out.

I too am ready to improve my abilities.

There were cameras, but once they were caught, there had to be no witnesses.

But the next moment, the words that came out of Lucas’ mouth were words that broke the tension.

“Did you follow me because I’m so cool?”

    “…Huh?”

At my belated question, Lucas sighed and ran his hands over his head.

    “Yeah. Sometimes it happened.”

What is it that happens sometimes?

Lane was left lying in the hallway with a dejected expression.

Shine was also looking at Lucas with a strange expression.

“Are you curious about what I explained earlier? Or something else?”

I looked at Lucas with wavering eyes.

So, is he misunderstanding why we followed him?

Really, do you think the three of us followed you because you’re so cool?

    really?

    It’s not a lie?

If you think about it, Lucas was a really strange guy.

Considering the fact that he kept bragging about himself and that he put his career on pamphlets, he was definitely not a normal person.

A guy with a screw missing somewhere in his head.

    That’s Lucas.

    But it was actually good.

If you misunderstood, there was no need to correct it.

“Oh, that’s right! We also wanted to work in a place like this later. Right?”

I looked at Shine and Rain.

The two girls who caught my gaze slowly nodded their heads.

    “I knew it.”

Lucas nodded as if he had expected what I said.

I swallowed dryly and looked up at him.

“Then, should I make time for my future juniors? Since we have about 5 minutes left.”

    He muttered, checking his wristwatch.

And so the five-minute question time began.

Shine Lane and I had to rack our brains asking questions about things we weren’t even curious about.

Ask about things like salary, vacation, employee benefits, and working conditions.

Lucas answered proudly, saying that everything was the best.

Anyway, five minutes passed like that.

Lucas checked the time and sighed, as if he was sorry he couldn’t answer more.

“Yeah. Right. Okay, here’s my business card. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.”

He handed out his business cards at the end.

On the back of the pure white business card, his name and contact information were written.

There was no mention of his title or the department he was in charge of.

This is similar to the old days…

With that thought in mind, I put the business card into my pocket.

So the three of us headed to the meeting place with Lucas.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

If Lucas had been more suspicious, our actions could have been a big mistake.

As I headed to the meeting place, Victor and Amy looked at me with surprised looks.

I smiled slightly and waved my hand as if to tell her not to worry.

    “Dad! Mom!”

I was a little reluctant to call Victor dad, but I couldn’t help it.

I ran towards the two of them, leading Shine and Rain.

Like children hugging their parents, they run to hug me.

    All to Amy.

Victor, who was taking a hugging stance with his arms spread open, gave an awkward cough and straightened up.

    The tour started again.

People looked tired of Lucas’ boring explanations and strangely self-appealing speech.

Lucas, who was leading people from the first floor to the second floor and from the second floor to the third floor, stopped and clapped his hands.

He smiled brightly and said, drawing the attention of the people who had become dizzy into one place.

    “It’s lunch time everyone!”

    lunch.

It was a time when I was hungry.

“There is a restaurant on the 2nd floor. Please show your pass when you enter. Then, we will provide you with a delicious meal for free!”

People began to yawn as they listened to him.

From people taking out their phones and walking away, to people heading straight to the second floor.

We decided to head straight to the restaurant.

I approached Lucas, who was going through some papers.

I wanted to get closer to him, but I couldn’t because of the basic aversion that men bring.

    “Excuse me.”

    But Lucas didn’t answer.

I was just checking the documents with concentration.

I sighed and raised my voice louder.

    “Mister!”

    “Huh? Mister? Me? ”

    Only then did Lucas react.

He looked around, found me, and pointed at me with his finger.

It was a look in his eyes as if he was asking if he had heard wrong.

    I nodded.

The only person around here who could be called uncle was Lucas.

“No, you’re an old man! You’re still in your early 30s.”

Isn’t that what an old man is like?

I tilted my head and opened my mouth.

“Does the restaurant serve pork cutlet?”

The tonkatsu was the most important thing.

If the tonkatsu doesn’t come out, I’ll say let’s go somewhere else to eat lunch.

Lucas looked dumbfounded at my question, then let out a small laugh.

    “Donkas? There’s that much.”

I breathed a sigh of relief at his words.

It would be impossible to have a staff cafeteria without tonkatsu.

    I nodded and turned around.

But at that moment, a boy of similar height to me stood in front of me.

    I naturally crumpled my expression.

    “Over there, over there!”

    I felt sick.

In the boy’s wavering gaze, I felt love, and I wanted to pour out what was inside me right now.

That means I wasn’t feeling that good.

But the boy, as if he didn’t know how I felt, took a step closer and opened his mouth.

    “Do you like tonkatsu too?”

    I couldn’t stand it.

    “Ugh!”

I ended up running to Amy with my mouth shut.

The boy’s expression collapsed as he glanced at her in passing.

He looked at me with a blank expression, as if he had been deeply hurt.

I ran to Amy and hugged her, taking a deep breath.

Only Amy’s sweet body scent could calm me.

    “Mom…”

“Ugh. Sasha. What’s wrong? What’s wrong with you?”

Instead of answering, I glared at the boy who was standing there blankly.

As soon as he caught my eye, he turned his back and ran away.

    He did nothing wrong.

    I was just too pretty.

I buried my face in Amy’s chest with a tired expression.

    It wasn’t like this before.

As time passed, the symptoms became more and more severe.

It didn’t matter if it was someone familiar like Victor or Jin, but I felt an extreme aversion to a strange man like the one I just saw.

“Are you okay? Should I come back?”

Amy whispered to me with a worried expression.

I shook my head urgently at her words.

It was uncomfortable, but not so uncomfortable that I couldn’t move.

    The mission had to continue.

We headed straight to the restaurant.

The menu is, of course, fixed tonkatsu.

I stared at the tonkatsu set meal in front of me.

    How well made it was.

How much care did the chef put into the tonkatsu?

It was time to find out.

First of all, the smell was acceptable.

It smelled fragrant, as if it had been fried in fresh oil.

I held the sharp blade in my hand and moved my wrist slightly.

    Wheeze-

A silver flash flies towards the donkatsu.

    Shasasasak-

His hands moved quickly, drawing several lines and perfectly slicing the pork cutlet.

    Tonkatsu.

The guy wearing the crispy batter died without even knowing he was dead.

I checked the quality of the pork cutlet with a sharp gaze.

    The inside is soft.

    Meaning it’s fried just right.

So the next thing to check was the taste.

I put a piece of pork cutlet covered in sauce into my mouth and started chewing.

    Crispy, crumbly texture.

The tenderness of the meat that comes afterward.

Even the aroma of the sauce that ties everything together.

    Everything was passing grade.

    And somehow, it tasted familiar.

I started eating the tonkatsu while swinging my legs back and forth.

    “Is it that delicious?”

    “Yes…!”

I answered Amy’s question in a small voice.

    My mouth is full.

As I was munching on my tonkatsu, looking up at Amy, she poured her share of the tonkatsu onto my plate.

I looked around, then quickly picked up my fork, picked up some pork cutlet, and put it in my mouth.

    It’s really delicious.

    After lunch, we started moving.

Amy and Victor go to the adults’ gathering place.

We headed to where the children were gathered.

The children who had been gathered together and chatting stopped talking as we approached.

Step 1: Becoming Friends with Young Children.

    Give them something to eat.

I smiled as I took a large bag of candy out of my bag.

    ***

Recruiting the kids was easier than raiding Victor’s fridge.

    “Hide and seek?”

“Yeah. It’ll be more fun here since there are lots of places to hide, right?”

The children nodded with shining eyes at my words.

I took a step back and continued.

It was because one boy was too close.

“It would be really fun, right? But it would be a shame to just do it. So I’ll bet a prize.”

I took another item out of my bag.

It was a small box filled with sweet chocolates.

The box, which looked very luxurious from the start, dazzled the children’s eyes.

    “I’ll do it!”

As soon as the chocolate was shown to them, the children raised their hands and shouted.

As expected, children are easy to handle.

    I nodded and smiled.

Shine Lane and I gathered the kids in a circle and started playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would be tagger.

It didn’t really matter whether I was the tagger or the hider, but for some reason I didn’t want to lose to the kids.

    I have raised my abilities.

Your field of vision expands and you become more sensitive to everything around you.

    Phagejik-

A small amount of static electricity occurs, and the hair floats slightly.

Rain also seemed to have used her power, as her skin turned slightly red.

    “Rock! Paper! Scissors!”

    That’s how rock-paper-scissors started.

    I checked the children’s movements.

The raised hand comes down and the hand opens.

This way, we can check the shape of the children’s hands.

Ten hands are outstretched, all pointing at scissors.

    scissors?

    Everyone is scissors?

Although I thought it was strange, I quickly reached out my hand.

    Rock!

    “Ahhh!”

The children screamed when they saw the results.

Because everyone pulled out scissors, but only me and Shine Lane pulled out rocks.

    I won.

    I won!

I was jumping for joy in my seat.

The children made a dispirited sound and started playing rock-paper-scissors again.

The spell was decided like that.

The rest of the kids and I prepared to run away.

He looked around at the children with a sullen expression.

“I’ll count to 30 seconds and go find it!”

With those words, the boy who had become a fool closed his eyes and began counting.

    It was time to move.

Shine Lane and I started running down the stairs.

When I checked the drawings of the building, the most important things here were underground.

    We had to go underground.
