Chapter Index

    Knock-

    ‘Who is it?’

As soon as I heard the knock, I jumped up from the bed. And in preparation for any unexpected situation, I slowly approached the door, preparing for battle.

The moment I arrived at the door, I heard Maria’s voice.

-He is a Japanese national hero.

    ‘Japanese hero?’

-Yes, what you see on the CCTV in the hotel hallway is the woman I met in front of the hotel in the morning.

Maria spoke calmly, but she was more curious about something else than that. I asked, feeling surprised.

‘Did you also hack the hotel in the meantime?’

-Although these places operate CCTV in a truly closed manner, they are vulnerable to direct access. The moment a nanobot is introduced into the circuit, hacking is complete.

Since entering a work set in modern times, she is now Maria, who finds her own tasks and takes care of them without me having to tell her.

I nodded with a proud face.

‘good job. ‘Can you show me the screen?’

    -Sure.

As soon as Maria finished speaking, a window that seemed to be playing a video appeared in one corner of my vision. As Maria said, the Japanese hero representative she had met during the day was visible in the CCTV footage showing the hallway of the hotel floor where I was.

She was in a knocking posture in front of the door that appeared to be my room. At the same time as the woman in the video knocked on the door, a knocking sound was heard in real life as well.

    Knock-

“Excuse me. Mr. Ignis. Are you inside?”

This time, even the voice was heard properly.

Since I had already confirmed who it was through the video, I slowly opened the door without asking who it was.

    Clap~

    “What’s going on?”

“Oh, you were inside. Would you mind for a moment? I have something to tell you.”

    “Hmm… ”

The Japanese hero spoke to me with an awkward smile through the half-open door.

Before letting her in, I thought about why she would come to my room at this hour. No matter how much high-speed thinking I tried to think about, I could only come to one conclusion.

‘It’s probably because I sneaked out of the hotel just a little while ago and defeated the villain.’

I thought they might have come to protest at least. It must have been like being struck by lightning in the middle of the night, as the foreign hero, who was thought to be confined to his dorm, wandered around outside and caused an accident.

    “Please come in.”

This was a potentially long story, so I opened the door fully and invited her inside. She bowed her head and entered the room.

“… First, let me reintroduce you. My name is Chinatsu Yuuko. In Japan, it is called Shiranui as a hero name.”

    ‘Shiranui?’

-It’s a name given to it thanks to its supernatural ability to control wisps of fire. I think it can use fire to attack directly, or show simple illusions.

Maria sensed my doubts and immediately briefed me about her.

‘oh… This woman also works with fire.’

Of all the people I’ve met so far, this woman was the first person with supernatural powers who used fire. This is because most minor villains had strange abilities or simply had physical enhancements.

I held out my hand in joy.

    “Nice to meet you.”

“Ah, yes… ! Nice to meet you too!”

    “?”

Chinatsu’s hands were shaking as they shook hands. It looked like he was holding back some strong emotions.

It didn’t seem like a feeling of fear or anger. Rather, considering her expression, this feeling…

    ‘east longitude?’

While I was tilting my head like that, she let go of her hand with a regretful expression and took out the business.

“It’s late, so I’ll get to the point quickly. We have just received a report that an unidentified hero has defeated a villain in downtown Kumamoto. Do you know anything about this?”

    “Unidentified hero?”

“Yes. And the villain who was presumed to have been subdued by the hero was found at the entrance to the police headquarters.”

“Well… I’m not sure. Has something like that happened?”

For now, I decided to pretend not to know. Sometimes, even if there is a problem, it is better to brush it off and move on rather than admit it, which is less annoying.

I thought that Chinatsu would either be angry at the lie, or would knowingly nod in order to suit the feelings of the foreign hero.

But her reaction was something I never expected.

She suddenly covered her mouth with one hand and spoke in a wet voice.

“Keuheuk… As expected, you sound like someone who doesn’t care about things like fame and only focuses on eradicating villains.”

    “Yes?”

When I questioned her incomprehensible response, she took a deep breath, took out her smartphone, and held it out to me.

The familiar Hero Live site appeared on her smartphone screen.

It was a site run by a psychic who had awakened to superpowers in the radio world, on which only psychics could write. Ordinary people who had not awakened their superpowers were unable to do any other activities other than reading posts and writing comments.

Contrary to Maria, this site was created by a psychic specializing in security.

-Hmph, if you have the equipment, you can easily hack a site like that!

Maria muttered in a sullen voice, as if she didn’t like the fact that there was a site she couldn’t penetrate.

As expected, a site created with supernatural powers seemed to be an area that would be difficult to touch at the moment without any equipment.

Anyway, Chinatsu’s smartphone was playing a video of me defeating a villain with fancy moves.

I guess there was a person with psychic powers among the people watching. Or, it was uploaded by a psychic who obtained the video separately.

Looking at it like this, it looked like an overwhelmingly powerful person was playing with the villain. Although the blood flowing from the wrist and mouth seemed a bit cruel to spread online, the comments that Maria translated in real time were full of praise.

    -The hero is also Korea.

-Why is there no outstanding male hero in Japan?

-The villain can’t do anything and just flops www

-It would have been better if the villain had just died.

-The person who lived next door to my friend’s parents and in-laws died. All villains should be executed…

‘I guess that means there’s a lot of antipathy toward villains in Japan right now.’

“I heard that he fought with his superpowers sealed away for fear that the citizens would get hurt!”

    “What… It was like that.”

I nodded to Chinatsu’s passionate voice.

The only time I used this ability was when he took a hostage and threw away an earring. Other than that, he was subdued through pure hand-to-hand combat.

That must have been a very impressive choice for her. Actually, it wasn’t really a handicap for me.

In this case, no matter how much I denied it, it was difficult to step away.

If it had been just the testimony of citizens, I would have just acted ignorantly, but my hero suit was captured on video.

“I got caught. yes. That’s right I did it.”

    “As expected… ”

I thought I would get a reasonable warning, but what Chinatsu said next was unexpected.

She said, bending her waist deeply at a 90 degree angle in front of me.

“On behalf of the people of Japan, I would like to express my gratitude.”

    “Yes?”

“Thanks to Ignis, we were able to arrest the villain involved in the Higashi Ward terror attack. It wasn’t easy to track them down because they were very mysterious, but thanks to this, I feel like I found a clue. This will relieve some of the frustration felt by the people.”

    She was actually thanking me.

“… Didn’t the problem arise because I moved as I please?”

“Of course, it wasn’t a positive action, but Ignis’ response was excellent. Even though the hostages were taken, no damage occurred except for some damage to the streetcar. And although the video has spread, the Japanese government can handle the cleanup by capturing the villain alive and handing him over to the police.”

In short, it was a risk that could be sufficiently covered.

    Chinatsu continued.

“Honestly, I am also a hero, but not all heroes do this with a sense of duty. If you do not register with the government, you will be treated as a villain, so there are many people who have no choice but to register as heroes.”

    “I see.”

In some ways, are we in a similar position to Korean men who are taken to the military? When I thought about it that way, I quite sympathized with it.

“So far, many heroes have been like soldiers, doing only the bare minimum as they are told, and I think Ignis will be a good stimulus to them. Thank you again.”

Hearing that made me feel better too.

Aside from the fact that I got a thank you even though I went on a rampage, it meant that I didn’t have to feel any remorse when I went out to track down the villain organization again tomorrow.

-Didn’t you feel that way originally?

‘Write… That’s what it says, right. Anyway, it’s like I’ve been given unofficial approval to mess around.’

As I was interpreting Chinatsu’s words as I pleased, she added the last word.

“Still, there may be a problem, so next time, I would appreciate it if you let me know in advance and make the move.”

“I understand. It just worked out well. I plan to go out tomorrow evening to catch some villains.”

    “Yes… ? Tomorrow too?”

‘hmm… Did I speak too soon?’

For some reason, I enjoyed the slightly shocked look she gave me.
