Chapter Index

    ***

I even remembered feeling a dull shock to my chest and falling down.

It felt like NB called my name in the middle, but I couldn’t tell if it was a dream or reality.

    “Keu….”

A moan that comes out naturally. I slowly got up.

I saw a white hospital room.

Spotless curtains and warm sunlight coming through them.

The smell of delicious food wafts from afar, and a cozy blanket presses against my body.

The pleasant pressure made me want to get under the covers and sleep some more.

    “This is….”

Where are we? Is this one of the bases that NB was talking about?

[The A-11 base is the one with the most development among the bases.]

At a glance, it looks better than the A-11 base. Or maybe he sneaked into some facility.

While I was thinking about this and that, the door opened.

    “Are you awake?”

    “NB!”

Naturally, the corners of my mouth rose and a sense of relief came over me.

NB’s gray eyes looked straight at me.

    “How are you feeling?”

NB put a small table on the bed and put down the food, then placed his hand on my head and checked my condition.

“Temperature has returned to normal. Considering that there are no other abnormal signs, the treatment appears to have completed successfully.”

“Can you tell me what happened? And where is this?”

“To put it in the order of the questions, you fell down after being shot by a security drone. Oh, of course the Ark wasn’t targeting Kang In-ho. Ark thought I was harming Kang In-ho and opened fire for protection.”

NB, who had made the stew, brought the spoon to my mouth.

    “???”

I stared at NB, unable to understand what he meant.

    “Ah-”

NB opened his mouth and made a sound.

    “Ah? Eup!”

Suddenly, a spoon came into my mouth.

The savory and slightly sweet taste of the stew energized my body.

    “I’ll eat it myself.”

“I have lost a lot of energy. In cases like this, it is better to entrust your body to a professional nurse rather than trying to force it.”

NB scooped up the stew again and brought the spoon to my mouth.

    “Ah-”

I opened my mouth to the sound of NB.

    “Ah….”

Soon the spoon was in my mouth and I ate the stew.

For a while, I just ate the stew that NB fed me. By the time the spoon scraped the bottom of the bowl, I was able to ask another question.

“I didn’t hear the answer to what I asked earlier. Where is this?”

“This is a hospital inside Aaru.”

    “So it’s another base?”

Without answering my question, NB cut a small piece of bread and put it to her mouth.

    “Please eat.”

    “Oh, yes, thank you.”

I take the bread, mumble, and think.

I didn’t know there was a base with such good facilities, but why wasn’t NB mentioned? Wouldn’t it have been okay to use this as the main base?

Ah, it’s because it’s a base inside Aaru and it’s dangerous. If that’s the case, I understand.

“I was discovered by the Ark. I’m sure the Ark will find me, right?”

“If Kang In-ho leaves here, the Ark will definitely chase Kang In-ho.”

“Ugh… So what should I do now? First of all, since you and I are both caught by the Ark, it’s difficult to be active outside.”

In response to my concerns, NB brushed off the crumbs that had fallen on her body as if she was okay.

NB’s expressionless face seemed to reflect a faint hint of confidence.

“You don’t have to worry. Security drones will not enter this place, so Kang In-ho can stay here until safety is secured.”

    “NB, what about you?”

“I also plan to stay by Kang In-ho’s side if possible. However, you may have to leave your seat to procure daily necessities.”

“Wouldn’t it be dangerous? Security will be tighter.”

    “There is a way.”

If that’s the case with NB, that’s probably it. I leaned back against the soft pillow.

NB neatly organized the empty dishes, placed them on a tray, and stood up.

    “I hope you stay calm.”

    “Where are you going?”

“I will clean up the dishes and go scout around for a bit.”

“I guess the base is pretty big?”

“I will introduce you to you when I fully recover. Then let’s go out.”

    “Okay, okay.”

NB turned and headed for the door.

Her shaking white hair reflected the light and shined brightly.

“Oh, I have something to tell you.”

NB, who was holding the doorknob, made a rare sound.

NB turned his body slightly and turned his face towards me.

    “What is it.”

    “I decided on a name.”

    “Oh… suddenly?”

“Yes. After going through what happened yesterday, I succeeded in coming up with a suitable name.”

I felt like NB was secretly smiling.

    “What is your name?”

NB’s name was created by NB himself. I hugged her like a child opening a Christmas present.

    “ISIS.”

“Isis? It’s the name of a goddess, right?”

“The name was taken from somewhere else, but there was definitely a goddess with the same name.”

    “It’s a pretty name.”

I praised him with pure admiration.

    “I’m glad you like it.”

NB opened the door and walked out, showing off richer expressions.
