Chapter Index

    ***

    Monday, early morning.

Kang In-ho, wearing an apron, was busy cooking in the kitchen.

    “Haam….”

I chase away the rush of sleep with a big yawn.

Looking at his somewhat lethargic appearance and squinting his eyes, it seemed that he didn’t naturally wake up early.

“I guess I slept too late.”

Until late at night, he wrestled with the power sleeping within his body.

After meditating to the point where my whole body was drenched in sweat, I went to bed late and woke up early in the morning to make breakfast for Kim Seong-ah.

Let’s say it’s morning. It’s a simple bacon and cheese sandwich, though.

Kang In-ho, who smelled the sight of bacon dancing in a sizzling frying pan and smelled it, recalled the morning in the original world.

My daily routine was preparing for work by standing and eating the food I had packed the day before.

    “I miss you.”

Although it was a distant memory, it remained in my mind as a good memory.

Place the bacon on the bread using a flipper, and top with a square piece of cheese.

Place the bread that has been previously warmed with butter onto the roof and press down gently.

The cheese melted with the residual heat, giving off an appetizing aroma.

    “Can I go back?”

Staring blankly into space, he muttered as he pressed down on the bread.

I moved between dimensions, possessed a new body, and met many people.

At first, survival was the goal,

Next, doing something meaningful became my goal.

Then suddenly, he had this thought.

‘How long do I have to repeat this?’

It wasn’t that my heart was broken.

His pledge, “I will do meaningful work in the possessed dimension,” was still valid.

But, regardless of that, being tired was being tired.

He is running a very long distance without knowing his destination.

Although I still had enough strength to run, it was an undeniable fact that my strength was gradually decreasing.

Because he has no one to lean on like Kim Seong-ah, he feels a little lonely.

I feel lonely because I’m stuck in a place where I don’t know anyone.

“Maybe that’s why I can’t refuse more sternly.”

He self-diagnosed that that’s why he can’t easily fight off people who approach him.

Suddenly, my cell phone rings. This is the alarm I set.

    “Ah, it’s done.”

Lost in his thoughts, he suddenly raised his head and headed to the second floor.

Because it was time to wake up the landlord.

After harshly waking Kim Seong-ah, who had become one with the bed and unable to leave, and sending her to the bathroom, he returned to the kitchen.

As I was cleaning up the messy kitchen and washing the dishes, Kim Seong-ah came down from the second floor, shaking her wet head.

    “I want to sleep more.”

He pointed to the clock in the living room at the sound that came out as soon as he sat down on the chair.

“Time is tight if you eat and go to school.”

    “Ah… school….”

Seongah Kim picked up a sandwich with a look on her face as if the world had ended.

Open your mouth wide and take a quick bite of one side of the sandwich.

The ketchup on her sandwich got on the corner of her mouth.

    “Wipe while eating.”

He reflexively took out a tissue and wiped the sauce off his mouth.

Kim Seong-ah continued eating in silence, despite receiving his somewhat rough touch.

As if the sandwich had hit his lips, there was a calm smile on his mouth that wasn’t there before.

“Uncle, can we take the day off from school just today? I slept late yesterday.”

“No. You promised to go to school if you can.”

“But you never know when the bad guys might come.”

As Kim Seong-ah whined, Kang In-ho shook his head resolutely.

    “Let’s go to school first.”

When no more tantrums seemed to work, she gave up and went back to focusing on her sandwich.

    “Jjomsaengi.”

Of course, there was an aftereffect of revenge through petty insults.

“This is the guardian you chose. Hold on to your evil spirit.”

Kang In-ho smiled brightly, showing his teeth.

    “Chi….”

    “Do you regret it?”

When he asked in passing, Kim Seong-ah thought for a moment and shook her head.

“I don’t like going to school, but it’s nice that you care about me.”

She stuffed the rest of the sandwich into her mouth and went up to the second floor again.

    “…Ah.”

Kang In-ho, who was following behind her, turned his eyes to the table and made a sound as if he realized something.

“I ate everything, including mine. Damn.”

His stomach rumbled as he started his activities early in the morning.

Monday, Seongah Kim goes to school. There was no invasion by evil forces.

Tuesday, Seongah Kim goes to school. The invasion occurred during lunch time, and the situation ended before lunch time ended.

After the second period, there was a student who said hello to her.

Wednesday, Seongah Kim goes to school. There was no invasion by evil forces.

During dismissal time, there were students who greeted her.

    thursday.

When she went to school for four days in a row, her homeroom teacher called her aside and praised her so much that he was proud of her.

Kim Seong-ah smiled bitterly when she received praise for just coming to school consistently.

So the morning class began, and she opened the workbook and mechanically solved the problems.

There were some questions that were correct and some questions that were incorrect.

    “Ugh….”

I sighed for a moment when I saw the workbook with circles and hatches mixed in half and half.

While she was reading the explanation and resolving the questions she got wrong, several female students approached her.

    “I… sister.”

    “Huh?”

    “Please eat this.”

A student with her bangs covering her eyes handed her strawberry milk.

“Ah… Uh, thank you? So… Hyeji.”

She looked confused at the first favor she received after changing grades.

“But I don’t have anything to give you… Would you like to go to the snack bar with me later?”

If you have received something, you must give it. She fumbled with her wallet in her pocket.

“Okay, then how about having lunch together and coming back?”

    “Yes, good.”

After a brief conversation, her visitors returned to their seats.

It was the start of the 4th period class.

The class went by rather slowly. Maybe the anticipation of lunch made time pass slowly.

Kim Seong-ah kept glancing at the clock, and the minute hand on the clock said, ‘The Rose of Sharon has bloomed.’ As if playing a game, it jolted to a halt every time she saw it.

After a long, long time, Kim Seong-ah had lunch with three students, including a child named Hye-ji.

As she walked down the hallway, she followed them in an awkward position, and they seemed to care about her and included her in their conversation.

Kim Seong-ah found that conversation very interesting.

When she arrived in front of the cafeteria where there was a long line, the student named Lee Hye-ji, who had given her strawberry milk, carefully greeted her.

“But sister. Who was the guy who came to school last time? I don’t think it’s my father.”

    “Ah… my relative. Why?”

“I remembered him because he was so handsome.”

Hyeji smiled shyly, turned her head, and squealed with the two women who were standing next to her like bridesmaids.

Kim Seong-ah didn’t know why they were making such a fuss, but she felt like a ton of bricks had been placed on her heart.

    That feeling

    very heavy,

    It was very unpleasant.
