Chapter Index

    Episode 274

The Roberts Mansion was as quiet as ever. It looks like they have no idea of the storm that is about to come.

    “It’s a great mansion.”

Luna’s voice was still calm, but it sounded just as cool. Maybe it’s just my mood, I don’t know.

Since we had not contacted them in advance, no one came out to greet us. Luna asked the gatekeeper, who was startled to see the princess and Luna, to open the door quietly and not to inform the mansion.

Yes, Luna must have guessed it too.

The reason Tina stays at the Roberts mansion is because she admires him, and there is no master who would refuse a girl as pretty and of high status as Tina who is actively courting her. Luna’s red eyes seemed to be burning quietly.

As soon as I passed through the mansion’s entrance, I saw Baron Roberts sitting in front of the fireplace, reading a book.

He turned his head this way, pretending to be interested. After checking the faces of the people who approached him, he hurriedly closed his book and got up.

“No, the princess, and Duke Luna Laurencia! What’s going on? If you had contacted us in advance, we would have prepared to serve you in advance!”

Although he was surprised, he didn’t seem embarrassed. There was even a dignified smile on his face to welcome guests.

“It’s been a while, Baron William. When I heard that Tina was causing trouble, I shamelessly came to visit her. Will I be able to meet my daughter?”

“Of course. Suizen, please call Miss Tina.”

The old butler bowed his head and went up the stairs. William offered Luna and me a seat with a gesture that was not typical of a child.

“It’s a nice mansion, Baron. If you don’t mind, could you tell us about Tina’s life here?”

“Of course. Miss Tina is really trying to learn here. From etiquette as an aristocrat and the knowledge needed to rule, to history and classics.”

    “Tina? Hehe, I see.”

I don’t believe it. Those eyes are eyes that don’t believe anything.

Luna seemed to have a firm belief in her daughter. I have a firm belief that Tina would never study on her own.

Considering the old Tina, who was definitely evil by nature, I think that might be the case. Luna would probably have put in a lot of effort to correct it. But it probably didn’t work out.

Still, when I met them the other day, they seemed like they were trying to change. I really don’t know if it would have stayed that way, but…

Soon Tina appeared on the stairs. Upon seeing her daughter, Luna had a look of joy on her face.

    “Tina…!”

Luna naturally spread her arms. I think I thought he would probably come running and hug me.

But when Tina came down the stairs, she simply lifted the hem of her skirt and greeted him with a graceful gesture.

“It’s been a long time, mother and princess. Hehe, if you had given me a message, I would have decorated it a little prettier.”

Uh, it’s not a maid uniform. Have you decided to give up your noble tastes now?

Tina was dressed cutely, clearly showing off as a young lady from an aristocratic family. The bright green dress went very well with her blonde hair.

Moreover, the manner in which he greeted gracefully was sophisticated and elegant. It was a bit too polite for Tina’s age, but it made her even cuter.

    “Mother?”

Luna was looking at Tina with an unchanged expression. It seemed like he was panicking.

“Now, Miss Tina. Duke Luna seems speechless because he is so happy to see you. How about at least holding your hand?”

    A sly voice.

Does that mean everything was within the expected range?

In fact, it was quite predictable.

Tina stayed here too long. It was only natural that Luna would come visit someday.

William’s relaxed attitude seemed to indicate confidence that everything was within his expectations.

“Yes, that would be a good idea.”

    Tina walked lightly.

However, the steps that were graceful at first gradually become more hurried. And instead of holding hands, he hugged Luna’s waist tightly with both arms.

    “Mother…!”

    “T, Tina…”

Although Luna was very happy, she seemed concerned about the gaze of those around her. You know how to make a relaxed face like that.

If you want, you can stroke her as much as you want, but Luna’s hands were awkwardly writhing near the top of Tina’s head.

However, the person who was most embarrassed by this situation was none other than William.

“Uh, uhm… T-Tina Miss…? Didn’t you promise? When my mother comes, I will show her the results of my education…”

    “Ah!”

Tina’s eyes widened as she hugged Luna. And then he shouted in a loud voice.

    “Ask anything! Mother!”

“Ah, I understand, Tina. I understand, so let’s leave this first…”

Luna gently pulled Tina away. Then, clearing his throat, he controlled his voice and asked.

“Hmm, Tina. Baron William said you had a very educational experience here. Is that really true?”

    “Yes! That’s right, mother!”

“Then, can you explain a book you read recently?”

    “Yes!”

Tina answered confidently and began to explain the book ‘History’ by Luman Ricardo. It was a long, wordy, and exemplary answer.

A quiet smile spread across Luna’s lips as she heard that. It’s probably the furthest smile from happiness.

After finishing reciting, Tina smiled triumphantly as if she had accomplished a difficult task.

“Good reading, Tina. So what is the most unique thing about Ricardo’s view of history?”

    “Yes? Eh, eeh…”

Tina, who looked as if she wanted to be praised, was startled. He even looked at William as if asking for help.

“Duke, may I answer that question, as I discussed it with Miss Tina?”

    “No, Baron. I’m asking Tina.”

It was a pressure that was difficult for William, who was still only a child and had a different title, to talk back. Tina sensed the atmosphere and eventually began to cry.

Luna closed her eyes and sighed softly. He turned his back and spoke to William.

“Even if you pull off a trick like this, it’s just child’s play, Baron. In fact, it makes me even more interested in what they are trying to hide.”

William’s legs are seen shaking. Certainly, if I were caught dressing Tina in a maid uniform and having her serve me, my legs would be shaking.

    Should I get involved soon?

I understand Luna’s feelings, but I don’t want the two to be too much at odds. With that in mind, I was trying to mediate the situation.

    “Stop it, Mother!”

Tina got between Luna and William. Tears were flowing steadily from the corners of my eyes, where I had already begun to cry.

“I’m going to marry Baron William! I already gave you my body and mind!”

    “…Ah…”

William sat down with an expression that everything was over. These kids, did they really do it?

The reason Tina became such an outcast was because Luna was weak towards her daughter. But now, Luna seemed to have made up her mind and her frozen expression did not even move.

“Marriage is an extremely important matter for noble families, Tina. It’s not a decision you should make with such a shallow mind.”

“It’s not shallow! I, I… For the first time in my life…”

A bit of pity is mixed in the way he looks at Tina. William, who had been sitting on a chair, also stood up shakily.

“No, Duke… It’s my fault… I harbored evil intentions towards Lady Tina… and staged this foolish skit. Any disposition… I will gladly accept it.”

“William is not bad! They asked me to do everything! Even in bed that day…”

    “Wow…!”

At Tina’s words, William clutched his chest in pain. What did you do in bed?

Luna still expressionlessly looked at the two people’s clumsy appearance and quietly opened her mouth.

“I also have no intention of making a fuss in someone else’s mansion, especially with the princess watching. Um… what do you think, princess?”

Uh, you’re passing the baton to me in this mess?

But now is the only time to defend William. I answered willingly.

“From what I have observed, the feelings between these two people are real. It is true that marriage should never be decided based on emotions alone, but even if you calculate the bottom line, the union of the two families seems to be beneficial. Above all else, we must prioritize Tina’s happiness.”

Luna smiled faintly at my words. And then he immediately spoke to the two people.

“If the princess says so, I can’t help it. But you can’t get married. Until the two people reach adulthood… an engagement relationship would be good.”

    In “…?”

    “Are you sure, Mom?”

The two people looked as if they were facing a staircase from heaven. Luna added with a stern face.

“But until then, physical contact beyond kissing is absolutely prohibited. Please keep this in mind, Baron William.”

    “Hi… Yes, yes…!”

I was watching with my eyes wide open as the situation was being sorted out.

Is this really why you brought me along? To have an excuse to forgive the two of them for their mistakes and allow their engagement…?
