Chapter Index

    Kwaaang!

The huge stone wall and Victor’s brain dragon collided, creating a huge explosion.

The stone wall crumbles, sending up a huge cloud of dust that covers the surrounding area.

The thick dust made it impossible for Victor to see the scene where he had fallen.

When the earthquake that had been shaking the ground began to quiet down.

Victor came running out through the dust.

Fortunately, Victor appeared to be unharmed, but the situation around him was dire.

The road was torn apart as if it had been forcibly torn apart, and the surrounding buildings had collapsed.

The dust slowly cleared, revealing the surroundings where the man had been standing.

Based on the iron bar that Victor had thrown, a round hole was drilled through, leading underground.

    does not exist.

The man had disappeared from sight.

    It means you missed it.

Victor also looked around, as if he couldn’t find him.

Victor, who had been looking around for a while, looked at me standing on top of the building, then disappeared in a flash of blue light.

I knew where he was headed.

It didn’t just disappear, it moved behind me.

A cold wind blew across my excited back, with cold sweat running down my body.

    “Why are you here?”

    “That, that…”

    My mouth won’t open.

Like a child caught doing something bad, I was afraid of getting scolded.

    It was complacent.

I thought it would be okay if I just went in to play for a bit, as long as I didn’t get caught.

    I was proud.

I thought I could handle the opponent on my own.

My recent rapid growth in ability has only made me more confident.

As he was speechless and just mumbling, Victor let out a big sigh.

    “Go back first.”

I could barely nod my head to Victor’s words.

The sound of sirens heard late is deafening.

Amy’s phone flies over the cell phone in her hand.

    But I couldn’t receive it.

    “Jeff.”

After Victor calls me, he disappears again in a blue flash.

I immediately turned around and kicked the ground.

A blue line follows the direction he moves.

    I ran along that road.

    ***

As soon as we followed Victor and returned to headquarters via the portal, our entire team was summoned by Jin.

Lane, who had been left alone, had also returned safely, and both Shine and Amy, who had been said to have gone on another mission, had returned to headquarters.

    “Jeff.”

    I couldn’t answer Amy’s question.

He just hung his head low and mumbled.

She let out a sigh of relief when she saw me return safely.

I expected her to get mad, but Amy didn’t say anything to me.

He just hugged me and stroked my head.

I was in Amy’s arms, rolling my eyes here and there, checking Shine’s expression, but Shine didn’t say anything to me either.

Instead, he just glared at me with an intense gaze.

The fact that Shine wasn’t talking meant that she was quite angry.

I’m afraid of the punishment I’ll receive when Amy isn’t around.

Amy held me tighter in her arms, as if she had no intention of letting me go, and headed toward Jin’s office.

As soon as we entered the office, Jin pointed to a chair and invited us to sit down.

Judging by his unusually serious expression, it seemed like the situation was a bit serious.

    “Jeff.”

    “No!”

I was so nervous that I bit my tongue as I answered.

The slight pain in my tongue brought tears to my eyes, but I didn’t show it.

    “Please report the details.”

I opened my mouth slowly, looking at the faces of those around me.

I went out to play for a bit and found someone from the research lab, and got into a fight with him.

And how strong his power is.

Finally, he added the unidentified liquid he had been drinking.

    “Did you drink something?”

    “Yes.”

    “Okay, I understand.”

Jin nodded, walked over to the large screen behind the table, and snapped his fingers.

Then, I remembered the photo I had sent him on his phone.

Jin pointed to the part where the old man appeared and asked me.

“Jeff. Is this the first time you’ve seen this old man in a picture?”

“Yes. When we met before, it was just the two of us.”

Shine frowned at the story of meeting alone with a man.

I couldn’t bear those scary eyes and buried my head in Amy’s arms.

“The old man’s name is Bigger. He is 65 years old and has the ability to speak. He is a professor who studies biotechnology. It says he is now retired and lives in District 5…”

As Jin muttered and touched the screen, information about an old man named Bigger began to appear.

From his address, age, family relationships, and even his gate usage history.

“The gate records show no record of his movement to a higher area.”

I looked closely at the screen at Jin’s words.

Certainly, he has not had a single pass through the gate in the past year.

That means he didn’t leave Area 5, but I found him in Area 3.

“Did you catch that guy named Bigger?”

I asked Jin and looked at Rain.

But contrary to my expectations, Rain shook his head with an apologetic expression.

It means that it wasn’t caught.

“Unfortunately, I missed it. It was as if it had traveled via warp, leaving no trace. I did send someone to the address, but I don’t think I can expect any good news.”

Jin said so and waved his hand.

Then, the data that had been floating on the screen began to move down, and the photos I had taken came to mind once again.

Jin zoomed in on the face of the man I had pointed out first among the two.

An ordinary-looking young man, he seemed quite young.

“There is no information about this man in the database within headquarters.”

    Jin snapped his fingers again.

The male figure was realized in 3D, and information about people with similar physiques came up.

“Ability, face, height, weight. It means that none of them match.”

Thousands of data quickly came to mind and were compared against the men, but no matching information was found.

If he had plastic surgery, the scars would have remained and his original face could have been restored, but there were no traces of surgery found on this young man’s face.

If so, that would mean he is from a lower class with no status.

However, if that man really was from a lower class, his powers could not have been this strong.

The abilities he demonstrated were so powerful that he was classified as a higher-level telekinesis user.

In general, the abilities of people belonging to the lower class were mostly non-existent.

But, even with such powerful abilities, you didn’t register as a citizen?

The benefits of citizenship are enormous.

The higher the grade, the higher it gets.

Even if you only have a 5th class citizenship, you are given a house that can support basic living.

The yearning for citizenship among the people living in the lower districts was indescribable.

However, the young man did not register as a citizen, even though he gave up all those benefits.

It was an action that I could never understand.

“Okay, okay. Let’s skip this for now.”

Jin said so and turned the screen to the side.

“Jeff. You must have seen what he saw, right? That he drank something at the last moment. ”

“Yes. You definitely saw it wrong.”

The moment I nodded and answered, Jin took out his phone and wrote a message to someone.

Immediately afterwards, a small warp opened above the table, and a clear plastic box containing broken glass fell out.

“I just recovered it from the scene of the crime.”

As Jin spoke and lightly knocked on the table, the lights that had been illuminating the surrounding area went out, and a bright light rose above the table.

The light gathered in one place and passed through the transparent box that Jin had summoned.

Then, a translucent hologram appeared in the center of the table, creating various objects.

From the windows of buildings and cars to someone’s glasses, as I looked at the small holograms that appeared, I was able to spot familiar shapes.

    “This is it!”

As I extended my finger and pointed at a glass bottle, Jin manipulated the table and enlarged the bottle.

    “Is this right?”

    “Yes!”

    “Okay.”

As soon as I answer, everything except the glass bottle disappears.

Jin knocked on the table again.

Then, the light that had been sweeping through the plastic box began to gather in one place and brightly illuminate a small piece of glass.

Just one of dozens of shards of glass.

Jin immediately opened the plastic box and put it aside.

    “Jin, no way.”

Amy looked at it and asked Jin with an anxious look, as if something had come to mind.

    “It’s not certain yet.”

But Jin shook his head and answered.

“But if what Jeff said is true…”

“I’m going to send it to the forensics team now. Let’s wait for the results.”

A story is unfolding that I don’t know about.

I looked up at Amy while she was in my arms, but Amy didn’t seem to have any intention of answering me. She just pressed my head and hugged me tighter.

I’m starting to feel out of breath.

But I didn’t flinch because I had done something wrong.

“Disband for now. We’ll call you back later this evening when the forensic results come out, so stay on standby.”

At Jin’s order to disband, our team stood up and left Jin’s office.

Amy still held my hand tightly, as if she had no intention of letting me go.

I shook my leg slightly, watching her expression.

Although he didn’t say anything, he hinted that he might let me down.

But Amy hugged me tighter as if nothing had happened.

    “Ugh.”

A gasping sound comes out of his mouth.

I relaxed my body and surrendered myself to Amy’s arms.

    “Rain.”

    “Ugh, yeah!”

Rain, who was very excited, answered Amy’s words while shaking.

Amy looked at Lane’s small, trembling body and let out a small sigh.

    “Did you have fun today?”

    “Uh… Uh…”

Contrary to expectations, Amy did not scold Lane.

Instead, he just stroked Rain’s small head.

I was actually more scared of that.

Because it was like the calm that comes before a typhoon.

“You went out to play with Jeff?”

Lane began to watch Amy’s expression.

I shook my head desperately, looking at Rain.

Dori dori, the world shakes left and right.

But Lane nodded at Amy, seemingly not seeing me.

“Who told you to go out?”

    Amy’s questions continue.

    I turned my head away.

    “Jeff said let’s go…”

“Jeff? So you just listened to Jeff and went out with him?”

“Uh… That, that, I told you not to go… Kekeke!”

The moment Lane answered, Amy’s other hand moved like light and struck Lane’s head.

Although no sound was heard, Rain sat down with his tongue sticking out.

As I stood there with my mouth wide open in shock at the sight of her still not coming to her senses, Amy walked over to Lane and picked up her small body.

“If you both go back, you’ll get a butt slap.”

Amy’s eerie voice makes her butt twitch in response.

Baek Dae-rani, I think I need an ice pack for my butt today.
