Chapter Index

On the top of the wooden building was the job mark of a Summoner that I had heard about from the assistant masters. A mark with a lion’s head embedded in the center of a circular design that simplifies a magic circle.

When I first heard the explanation about the guild mark, I asked Taemun Park.

“There must be more than one type of summons used by the Summoner, so why is it a lion?”

“… I heard that it’s because the guild master’s pet is a lion, but it’s not accurate because I just heard it by chance.”

Park Tae-moon answered like that with a shocked expression. Since he and other assistant masters were trying so desperately to persuade him, I played around with a meme often used in real life, and it seemed like he was suspected of being a crazy person obsessed with Summoner.

‘Well, it doesn’t matter since I ended up changing to a Summoner as planned anyway.’

    Sigh…

I opened the door to the Summoner Guild building. There was a clanging sound as if the hinges had been greased for quite some time.

As I stood at the entrance and glanced at the scenery inside the guild, I felt an unexpected emotion.

‘It’s cleaner inside than I thought?’

-… Are you doing this on purpose?

    ‘No, really.’

It may sound like a joke, but it was a sincere thought.

Looking at the exterior of the guild building, it looked like it was leaky and leaky because it had not been maintained for several years, but the interior was not like that.

On the contrary, it seemed quite cozy.

I stopped for a moment and walked into the building.

Then, a warm scent of wood irritated my nose. An old, crackling fireplace caught my eye on the wall, and around it were a rocking chair with soft cushions and a leather sofa. It seemed like the perfect place to hit the firewood while listening to the sound of burning firewood.

There was a soft carpet on the floor, so it didn’t feel like I was stepping on an old wooden floor.

And in all of this scenery, there were animals that seemed to be summoned animals and people who were presumed to be their owners.

They were sitting at one of the tables that filled the first floor, leisurely stroking their pets and having tea time. I also saw someone reading a book in their other hand while sipping from a teacup with faint steam rising from it.

The building lobby was filled with a considerable number of transferees and NPCs, as well as monsters and animals that appeared to be summons.

It was a fairly warm scene for a building located on the outskirts of a town without much light. Unlike the shabby exterior of the building, the interior looked rather elegant.

The furniture filling the first floor felt a bit excessive, but seeing one or two summons hanging out on each piece of furniture made me wonder if it was lacking.

It is said that people who raise animals naturally become maximalists, which probably means that there are many things necessary for the act of raising animals.

‘however… ‘There are more people than I thought?’

Wasn’t the Summoner an unpopular job? Considering the shabby-looking exterior of the building and its location in a corner of town, it didn’t seem like a completely wrong idea. However, the number of people inside the guild was much smaller than I expected.

    “… … .”

The eyes of those who were leisurely spending time stroking their summons fell on me, a strange man who had entered the guild building.

I pretended not to notice those stares and approached what I thought was the guild’s reception desk.

As I got closer, the woman who had been standing there with her back to me turned to me. She was wearing an apron.

    ‘apron?’

“Welcome! What would you like to order?”

“Order? uh… I came here to change my job to Summoner.”

    “Summoner, one drink… Yes?”

    “?”

A situation where the conversation is somehow out of sync with each other.

    ‘no way… ?’

After guessing something, I used my high-speed thinking to scan the inside of the guild once again.

Tables and chairs filled the first floor of the guild. There are tea cups and snacks on each table, and people seem to be healing while stroking their pets. And a woman wearing an apron and equipment that appears to be used to extract drinks behind her.

I found out that what I first thought was the reception desk was actually the cash register, and the woman in the apron was a waiter selling drinks.

‘… This is a complete animal cafe.’

For some reason, I noticed that the first floor was full of cute-looking summons, but the Summoner Guild was running the lobby on the first floor like a kind of animal cafe.

In this case, the possibility that those people were not summoners but simply customers at the cafe increased.

‘If you think about it, everyone was drinking a cup of tea.’

Was the principle of one order per person a rule that must be followed even in the tower?

    “Now, wait a minute!”

The waiter must have realized that I was there to change jobs rather than as a customer who wanted to order a drink, so I took off my apron, put it on the counter, and ran upstairs.

    “Change to Summoner?”

    “I guess it’s a new transfer interest.”

“You seem to be the type that is not confident in battle.”

“But has the new transferee already changed jobs?”

“That’s right. Normally, I would change jobs after completing my education.”

The people currently in the Summoner Guild did not seem to be the same people who came to the stadium. If you were in the stadium at that time, you wouldn’t have known that I was the one who killed the fairy and the boss monster.

‘It’s the day when a new transferee arrives, but looking at them here like this, they don’t seem to be climbing the tower very hard.’

For me, it was actually nice that there wasn’t a big fuss for no reason. As I stood still for a moment, waiting for the waiter to come upstairs, she reappeared with a sound like something tumbling down the stairs.

    Uddangtang!!

“Heo, heo, heo… Just go into the last room on the second floor!”

    “… Thank you.”

I climbed the stairs to the second floor, tilting my head as if I was watching a comedy.

‘Is coming to change jobs something worth making such a fuss about?’

-Because it’s a very unpopular job. It may be that it has been a long time since I came to change jobs.

The second floor I came up to while chatting with Maria had a slightly different atmosphere from the first floor. It had a structure similar to the first floor and the air was warm, but there were no people or summoned animals in sight.

The gap in atmosphere resulting from just that one difference was significant.

‘There are definitely no guild members.’

Looking at the scenery full of furniture like the first floor, it seems that this is a separate space just for guild members, but there was not a single person in sight.

Still, it doesn’t show any dust as if you clean it regularly, so it can be useful when you need a place to rest.

I knocked on the door located at the end of the second floor as the waiter said.

    smart.

    “Come in.”

    ‘Female voice?’

    “Excuse me.”

    Sigh…

A door that opens with a clanging sound, just like the guild’s main door. Inside the room, there was a table and sofa for serving customers, and a table that seemed to be used by the room owner to conduct business.

I looked at the owner of the room sitting at the table. As I suspected, the voice I heard outside was a woman. A woman with messy red hair. Next to the table where she was sitting, a huge lion was lying down and dozing.

‘Let’s go… I don’t know if I can just call it a lion. I said the guild master’s pet was a lion. Then is that person the guild master?’

It was a summon that was almost as big as a monster rather than a lion. Still, it seemed like the guild master had made a contract with a fairly strong summon.

    “I am Lee Min-ho.”

    “Summoner Guild Master, Linnet.”

The guild master, Lynette, who placed her clasped hands on the table and looked at me, continued speaking.

“So, you came here to change jobs to Summoner?”

    “Yes.”

    “Hmm… ”

Surprisingly, Lynette’s reaction was not very good.

‘As it is an unpopular job, I thought I would welcome someone who wanted to change careers on their own… Do you still have pride?’

“The job of summoner is more difficult than you think. If you thought it was easy and decided, stop now.”

“I didn’t choose this job with those thoughts in mind.”

    “… … .”

She looked at me penetratingly for a moment, nodded, and then brought up another topic.

“You came earlier than I thought. I thought today was the day new transferees enter the first floor… Did I get the date wrong?”

“No. You got it right. I also just came to the first floor today.”

“Really? That’s odd. Originally, it was normal to go through a few days of training before changing jobs.”

    “Is that so?”

“Yes. Because you gain power when you change jobs, accidents can occur such as suddenly discharging the power you gained randomly.”

“He said he didn’t think I would need any additional training.”

“Really? There’s no way I would have told that to just anyone… ”

Actually, I decided to take the clan’s advanced training instead of the basic training, but I didn’t want to explain it in detail.

Lynette, who seemed to be thinking about something after hearing my words, frowned slightly.

“Wait a minute, I heard that there is a guy who achieved two feats at the same time: killing a fairy and defeating a boss monster. Then, the transfer interest is… ”

    “Ah, yes. I am correct.”

    “Passed.”

    “?”
