Chapter Index

There was terrorism by an unidentified psychic, but there was no change in daily life.

Shine Lane Appleton and I sat side by side licking our ice cream cones.

A peaceful lunch break inside the school.

I enjoyed my free time and watched the clouds passing by.

“So, have you decided what to do for the festival?”

I shook my head at Appleton’s question.

Because of work, I wasn’t thinking about the school festival.

The ice cream in my mouth melts and runs down my lips.

At that cold sensation, I was startled and tried to wipe it with my hand, but Shine’s face came closer in an instant and stuck out her pink tongue.

The soft tongue that touched just below my lips licked the ice cream I had spilled.

“Don’t spill anything and eat well.”

    “Uh… Yeah.”

I nodded blankly at Shine’s words.

Her behavior like this was not uncommon.

Although it is natural for an older sister to take care of her younger sibling, for some reason, I felt strange.

Is it really right for older and younger siblings to do this?

Shine said so, but it was only natural for me to have these questions.

Every time Shine did this, Lane and Appleton would blush and become very embarrassed.

Judging from the two people’s reactions, Shine’s behavior was definitely not normal.

“Jeff. This is natural. Since you are so clumsy. It is right for me, as your older sister, to take care of you.”

    “Ugh, uh.”

I nodded again in agreement with Shine’s words.

I didn’t argue with Shine’s words, even though she tapped my head as if to say that it wasn’t Little Amy hiding above me.

I put what had just happened out of my mind and started thinking about the festival.

I knew the details of the festival from Appleton.

“You said the 5th grade classroom hasn’t decided yet what to do?”

“Yeah. The 4th graders said they were going to do a regular cafe, and the 6th graders said they were going to do a haunted house.”

The reason why our fifth grade classroom still hasn’t decided on a theme is simple.

Because me, Shine, and Rain didn’t give any opinions.

Even though other students became accustomed to us, the power behind us did not disappear.

The children were still busy watching us.

“If I say I don’t want to do anything, the 5th graders won’t do anything that day, right?”

    “Maybe so?”

I shook my head at Appleton’s words.

It was an important event that occurred only once a year.

I couldn’t afford to ruin the precious memories my children had.

And I wanted to enjoy it too.

“What a shame, a 4th grader is running a cafe. I wanted to try running a cafe too.”

I muttered, letting out a sigh of deep regret.

I remember the Valentine’s Cafe that I was able to visit during my mission.

They used unusual menus like Angel’s Hand and Sweet Dragon’s Scale, but they were really delicious.

“Should I ask you to change it?”

    “What?”

I was thinking about the delicious sweets of Valentine’s Day, so I turned my head away, greatly embarrassed by Appleton’s words.

    She was serious.

He looked at me with a serious face and opened his mouth again.

“Should I tell the 4th graders to change it?”

“Why, why? No, if you tell them to change, will they change it easily? It seems like they’re preparing something hard right now.”

“Probably, if you asked me to change either Shine or Jeff, I would change them right away. It wouldn’t be good for them if their themes overlap.”

“We haven’t even decided on a cafe yet.”

“Jeff wants to open a cafe.”

    “That’s true, but…”

As I nodded and muttered something to Appleton, Shine grabbed my shoulder and said,

    “Let’s do it, cafe.”

“Does Shine want to open a cafe too?”

“Yeah. If Jeff wants to do it, I want to do it too.”

I nodded slowly to Shine’s words.

“But, just because we want to do it. Will the story go well? I think we need to share our opinions with the kids…”

Contrary to my worries, the story progressed very neatly.

Appleton and Lane, led by Shine, nominated a cafe as a class theme to be used at the festival for their classmates.

Before the cafe could be nominated, all the other candidates who had been nominated disappeared, and the theme of our class was decided unanimously without a single opponent.

After the theme was decided, Appleton and Shine headed to the fourth grade classroom together.

Shine opened the classroom door and entered, announcing unilaterally.

“You guys, you said that you decided on a cafe as your class theme for the summer festival, right? Don’t use that.”

The students sitting in their seats blinked their eyes in bewilderment at Shine’s words.

But not a single student contradicted or argued with her.

“I’ll take care of the money you spent while preparing. So, try looking for something else.”

That’s how the whole situation ended.

    It was really so neat.

I thought as I took the ice cream stick out of my mouth.

    Is this power?

    ***

As we had a lot of ideas for class themes, we had a lot to prepare.

Although there was some funding from the school to use for class themes, the price of the items Shine wanted was beyond imagination.

These were not things that could be solved simply with subsidies.

When Shine realized she was short on money, she immediately called her grandfather.

She switched the call mode to speaker mode so that I could hear what was going on.

    “Grandpa. It’s me.”

    [Sha, shine?]

It was quite unusual for Shine to make the call first.

    Grandfather was that surprised.

But Shine didn’t seem to want to talk for long and just briefly conveyed her purpose.

“I need a set of tableware for the festival. A cart, a table, a tablecloth. Things like that.”

[Hmm… a festival. Are you talking about a summer festival?]

“Yeah. I’ll use it that day. Jeff said to do it. ”

[If it’s money, isn’t there a card I gave you?]

    “Black card? Amy confiscated that.”

    [Confiscation?]

“They took it away because he used it for games. So Jeff can’t even drink cola as he pleases.”

[Huh… This is… Okay, I see. Just wait a minute.]

With those words, the call between Grandpa Ferman and Shine ended.

    “Wait a minute.”

As she said, I was just standing there waiting, when a large helicopter appeared in the sky.

It flew in from afar, stopped in the middle of the school, and lowered a long ladder down.

    “Did Grandpa send it?”

    “I guess so?”

The helicopter that suddenly appeared in the middle of the school was enough to catch the attention of many people.

At that moment, a man in a black suit came down a ladder from inside the helicopter and ran into the school.

The four of us just watched the whole situation unfold with our eyes blinking.

The man in the suit who entered the school went straight into the fifth grade classroom, as if he was looking for us.

As soon as he made eye contact with us, he came over, bowed his head, and held out two black cards.

“Mr. Ferman, please keep it a secret from Amy.”

It was exactly the same card that Amy had confiscated before.

As soon as Shine was handed the card, he backed away.

As I stood there with my mouth open, bewildered by the sudden turn of events, Shine handed me one of the cards he had been given.

“Now I can drink as much cola as I want.”

    “Gasp…”

I accepted the card that Shine handed me and hugged it carefully.

Amy now has a card she can use without telling anyone.

After the helicopter that had appeared at the school disappeared, Grandpa Ferman received a phone call.

I quickly picked up the phone.

    “Yes~”

[Oh, Jeff. Did you get the gift that Grandpa sent?]

“Yes. Some old man gave it to me.”

[Yes, as I heard from him, it’s a secret from Amy. All expenses for the festival can be covered with that.]

“I will use the card well. Thank you!”

I held the black card out the window.

It was like looking at a cola, shining in the bright sunlight.

Immediately after the call ended, Shine started shopping for items.

A very pretty set of cutlery and numerous food ingredients began to fill the shopping cart.

“But Shine. It’s good to live like this. Is there anyone among us who knows how to make coffee and cookies?”

Kkukkuk- Shine, who had been purchasing various items through her phone screen, stopped moving at my words.

Yes, neither Shine nor Rain had any talent for cooking.

    What about Appleton then?

I looked at Appleton with hope, but she shook her head too.

The idea of having a cafe was nice, but the most important thing was missing.

There was no pastry chef or barista.

“How about hiring someone to work that day with money?”

Rain offered his opinion, but I shook my head.

On the festival day, outsiders were not allowed to enter the school.

Then what should I do? While I was thinking about it, Shine suddenly jumped up from her seat and ran out of the classroom.

As I was blinking at her sudden action, Shine, who had gone outside, came into the classroom dragging a little girl with her.

“I brought someone who knows how to make coffee and desserts.”

Looking at the color of the name tag, the girl Shine brought was a 4th grader.

The girl looked around anxiously, as if she had been suddenly dragged away.

I approached Shine, who was standing there with a confident expression, and whispered softly in her ear.

“Excuse me. Did you bring Shine from the 4th grade classroom…?”

“Yeah. They don’t have a cafe there anymore. They don’t need it anymore. Can’t we just use it?”

“No, no matter what, it’s like that. Didn’t you drag me here by force?”

“No? I asked him. Can he help me?”

Shine approached the anxious girl and met her gaze, as if to show her evidence, as if to say,

After a moment, Shine pushed the girl towards me.

    “Oh, hello…”

He was a small and cute child.

Her light green hair swayed calmly.

    “Come on, tell me.”

As Shine spoke, placing a hand on the girl’s shoulder, the little girl flinched and spoke in a trembling voice.

“I heard you run a cafe… The lady here said she needed my help…”

I nodded to her and asked.

“Yeah. Right now, there’s no one who knows how to make coffee, bread, or cookies. Do you know how to make them?”

The girl nodded, swallowing dry saliva in response to my question.

If she’s good enough, everything for the festival will be ready.

As I looked down at the girl with a suspicious look, she fumbled with her hands and took a small envelope out of her pocket and handed it to me.

“Hey, these are the cookies I made…”

I took a cookie out of the bag the girl handed me and put it in my mouth.

A crispy texture and a sweetness that fills your mouth.

The subtle scent of chocolate gently enveloped my tongue.

“Oh, what do you think? I want to try it too!”

I put the remaining cookies into Lane’s mouth as he hung next to me and shook his body wildly.

Lane opened his mouth and ate the cookie, then opened his arms wide and tapped his feet as if it was delicious.

    “It’s delicious!”

    The festival preparations are complete.
