Chapter Index

    “Adeeell?”

    “Woong?”

Arjen elongates his sentence ominously. Adele answers brightly, not knowing anything.

I didn’t have the confidence to look there, so I quietly turned my head towards Asha.

“I’m just asking, just in case. Who is your mom?”

Since many things were omitted, there were two ways to understand it.

The first question is what will happen to Mom if I live with Dad. I am thinking of moving with Dad, but what about Mom? is the second.

And Adele came up with an answer for both sides.

“Mom is a dragon, right? Not my dad.”

    “…Yeah, right.”

It was Arjen who had not stopped giving a speech about the dragon’s ability to stand alone just a moment ago. In a way, Adele understood Arjen’s story accurately.

To paraphrase Adele’s words, ‘I understand. However, since my father is not a dragon, he is exempt from being alone, so it is okay for him to live with me.’ am.

Even if you live with your father, your mother is a dragon, so you can live alone, and your mother is a dragon, so she cannot live with a dragon herself.

Of course, saying it was great was ironic and only made Arjen angry.

    “Adeeell!!”

    “Hi!?”

“Asha. Dad will tell you things you need to know when you travel later.”

I quickly took Asha with me and left the place.

    “Ugh… I’m worried, I’m worried.”

Asha and Adele are twins born at the same time on the same day. Of course, there is a slight difference, but that is true by Dragon standards.

However, even though the twins were born at the same time on the same day and raised identically, their personalities were quite different.

Asha grew up as a typical upright and good child. A good child with an outstanding inquisitive mind, a dignified personality, and a good listener.

It was amazing to see him seriously considering the self-reflection I mentioned before.

On the other hand, Adele is an example of a spoiled daughter. Although she was cute, immature, and gentle, it made me smile happily from a daughter’s point of view, but I couldn’t help but worry about the future.

As such, the two had as many differences as they did similarities. There were times when I was worried that Asha would ignore Adele.

Fortunately, there have been no signs of that yet. Maybe it’s just my fuss.

Well, the only dragon siblings I’ve seen are Arjen’s mother and uncle, but both of them have very different personalities, so maybe the reference point or comparison group itself is wrong.

    “Hey, Dad.”

“Huh? Why are you doing this, Asha?”

“I have something to tell you about Adele…”

omg. You came. While I was thinking about something, Asha pulled out a knife.

    “Mu, Mumumu, what’s the story?”

“Adele loves her dad so much.”

    “Huh? Huh?”

These words exceeded my expectations, as I was wary of saying harsh words that shouldn’t be said between siblings, such as saying that Adele was pathetic or that she wouldn’t care about Adele.

I like my dad so much, isn’t that a good thing?

As if she had read my thoughts, Asha spoke with a stern expression the whole time.

“Well… I think it went a little too far.”

Asha told one by one the stories of the time when she and Adele were alone.

    ***

“Asha! Look at this! Dad gave it to me to eat!”

Adele gave Asha the fruit she had received from Eugene. It was a fruit grown by Eugene himself, who had begun to dabble in brandy and cider based on his belief in the vast amount of alcohol sent by the dwarves.

“Huh? Did you go to your father’s place again?”

Asha and Adele. Although the two did not know it, Eugene usually spent his days forming his faith.

He helps humans see their descendants, and researches and preaches new methods of making alcohol to dwarves.

Because any job required a high degree of concentration and if done incorrectly could cause disruption to the supply of faith, Eugene basically prohibited children from approaching while he was working.

However, that’s just the way it is. In reality, it was close to a mere formality of ban due to the fantastic collaboration between Eugene, who likes to see the children’s faces, and Adele, who always searches for his father.

“Aren’t you being too rude to your dad these days?”

“Hmm? What are you talking about! We are mom and dad’s children, and we are at an age where it’s natural to be loved!”

As for the desire to quickly become an adult, Adele continued to act like a child and Asha continued to criticize her, as if all the consensus was gone.

“Dad said that. Think about what you really want to do and what you want to be.”

    “Yes. That’s right.”

    “Have you thought about it?”

“Yes! I will be daddy’s bride!”

    Adele’s eyes became blurry.

“Adele. Dad is already married to Mom… Ugh, no.”

Asha stopped talking. The time we spent together has already passed several decades. It was Asha who knew better than anyone else that Adele in this state would not listen no matter how much she said.

    ***

    “Mmm. Is that tidy?”

It is common for children to say that when they grow up, they will marry their mom or dad. Of course, in the case of humans, such words are most often spoken during preschool years.

On the other hand, Adele has not yet reached adulthood, but her hair has grown a bit thicker. If you look at it objectively, it can be seen as a serious situation.

However, that is simply a case of not understanding the dragon’s ecology well. As Arjen said, young dragons live in such a closed environment that they are first sent out into the world just before they reach adulthood.

In other words, because they don’t know anything about the world, they are literally like children on the inside, even though they may look grown on the outside.

Anyway, as time passes and I leave the entertainment and look back at the world, I think that such thoughts will naturally disappear as I become an adult.

In the first place, it was because Asha was overly mature, and Rube once said that it was normal for her to grow up like Adele.

I didn’t think it was a big deal, but Asha immediately brought up another anecdote.

    ***

“Adele. It’s time to eat… What are you doing here?”

    “Hmm? Asha?”

It was in Eugene’s room that Asha found Adele suddenly disappearing. It wasn’t really where Eugene lived, but rather a room where he stored his things.

Arjen still carries Eugene with him like a pet doll, so Eugene is also attached to Arjen’s room, but it is not his belongings, so it was a room created.

Anyway, Adele was found in a corner of this rare room filled with Eugene’s things.

“Did you just go into Dad’s room on your own?”

“Wow, you can do whatever you want. Is it okay for Dad to go into my room whenever he wants?”

“That’s never happened. And because you are okay, thinking that the other person will be the same… is a bit counterintuitive, no.”

Asha stopped talking as she looked at Adele’s dazed eyes once again.

“Let’s go get something to eat… Wait, why are you bringing your dad’s clothes?”

“Hehe. If you sleep around this, it feels like your dad is putting you to sleep, right? Would you like to take one, Asha?”

    “I’m done….”

    ***

“Wait a minute, I thought things were disappearing often these days…”

“Adele must have taken the metallurgy and hid it in her nest.”

I later realized that Adele’s worries about whether she would be able to manage her own business well were unfounded. Adele had already built her own home within Argen’s Lair.

The only problem is that most of the stuff in there is mine.

    “This is a bit excessive…”

No matter how much I do this, I don’t laugh it off.

“Of course, it is true that Dad took great care of us while Mom recovered, but I think it was a bit too much for Adele.”

“Ugh. I just thought that too.”

If nothing else, the item must be returned. There were also some favorite clothes brought from Earth.

After talking with Asha a little more, I returned to my seat to find Adele still being scolded by Arjen.

“Adele. You too will soon become an adult dragon. You can’t be a fool for your mom and dad forever.”

    “Heeing……”

“And Dad belongs to Mom. Adele can’t take it out as she pleases.”

“What if Dad says it’s okay?”

“There’s no way Dad would do that.”

    “Really? Are you sure?”

“That’s for sure. My dad is coming over there right now, so why am I asking you?”

    “Daddy!”

As soon as Adele spotted me, she ran towards me at a quick pace. I held Adele safely so she wouldn’t fall.

“Adele. Did you get scolded by your mom a lot?”

“Yes! Mom just scolded me! Dad scold Mom!”

Oh my. I’m sorry, but that’s not possible. At least when it comes to education policy, Mom is definitely right.

As you all know, I am not a dragon.

“That’s right! dad! Dad, don’t you want to live with me later?”

    “Uh… no?”

At my answer, Adele looked at Arjen with a triumphant expression. After looking shocked for a moment, Arjen corrected Adele’s mistake.

“If you ask a question like that, of course you say no. Eugene. Do you plan to leave me and live at Adele’s Rare?”

Even if you set aside what I heard the conversation from earlier, my answer is definitely set.

“Nothing. I will live with Arjen for the rest of my life.”

    “Eh?”

This time, Adele looked very shocked. Either way, Arjen smiled happily and opened his mouth.

“Adele. This is what a couple is like. The relationship between two people who love each other the most in the world is called a couple.”

Arjen secretly touched the wedding ring he had given me.
