Chapter Index

It’s been quite a while since I’ve received a mission.

I think my words were well conveyed to Jin through Shine.

I went through the warp and came out, looking around with a dizzy gaze.

As your gaze sweeps around, a thin electric field spreads out from your body.

The flow spread out in an instant, revealing the entire structure of the building in an instant.

    [Did you arrive safely?]

    “Yes, I arrived safely.”

Amy answered Jin’s voice, which she heard through the small receiver she was wearing on her ear.

    Shine, Amy, and me.

In this mission, our team Harmonize was split in two.

    Victor ended up with Rain.

After hearing the last voice of Rain, who was crying, we each went on separate warps.

    “Wow…”

I was amazed at the crowds that filled the surrounding area.

In the line of people that seemed to number in the thousands at first glance, it seemed like if I made one wrong move I would lose Amy and Shine.

I reached out and grabbed both of their hands.

The starting point of this mission was the airport in Sector 3.

    “Don’t be so nervous.”

Amy seemed to notice that I was nervous and gently stroked my head.

I took the sunglasses from my arms and put them on.

The star-shaped lenses sparkled just because I liked them.

Wearing these fancy sunglasses wasn’t just for show.

    Eye contact.

I wore these sunglasses because I was able to keep my eyes on my target without even realizing it.

I brought this item with me because I was worried that if my eyes met the target, something big would happen.

    “When did you get that?”

Amy smiled slightly as she looked at me wearing sunglasses.

But I was serious, so I didn’t answer her and just quickly looked around.

There was nothing special about his abilities or his vision.

Shine and I activated our awareness-impairing bracelets and walked down the airport street holding Amy’s hand.

Not long after the plane arrived, a large crowd of people were pouring out of the exit.

    “Is this the right place?”

    “That’s not accurate.”

Amy and I stopped by the duty free shop and bought some things like tourists on a trip.

    “Oh. Please buy this too.”

Amy bought me everything I asked for.

I hovered around the bathroom, dangling a fluffy sandwich and a bag of chips.

“Why did you come to the bathroom?”

Shine asked me as if she couldn’t understand my choice.

    I answered her confidently.

“This time, the target gender is female.”

    “Yeah.”

“Then, I’ll definitely check my makeup before I leave this airport.”

    “Makeup?”

    “Yeah.”

    “Hmm…”

Shine nodded at my words and crossed her arms.

At that moment, Amy, who had finished paying, approached us holding a small shopping bag.

“Did you have to go to the bathroom?”

“No. I was waiting because I thought this target would come to the bathroom.”

    “Was it?”

Amy patted my head with a proud expression on her face at my answer.

I stared at the doorway, crunching the cookie Amy had bought me.

    That’s how time passes.

The large bag of chips Amy had bought me was starting to show the bottom.

I licked the powder off my fingers in regret.

    “I guess it’s a dud.”

As Amy said, we felt like we had pulled out a dud.

No matter how long I waited, I couldn’t find the woman I saw in the photo.

“Hey, Amy. Can I have another one of these?”

I said, waving the empty bag of chips.

But Amy seemed to have known this would happen, as she took out the new snack I had been eyeing from the shopping bag she was holding and handed it to me.

This time it was consommé flavored potato chips.

    “You don’t eat shine?”

I opened the bag and was eating the snacks inside, when I handed the snacks over to Shine, who was sitting on the chair.

Normally, she would have opened her mouth and sucked my hand with a snack, but she shook her head and refused.

    “Shh.”

    “Why?”

    “I’m concentrating.”

What does it mean to be focused on?

He tilted his head and sat down next to Shine.

When I asked him to be quiet, he kept his mouth shut and stopped eating his snack.

And at that moment, Shine touched her forehead and bowed her head.

I wondered why, so I lowered my head and looked at her expression.

The corners of the lips are slightly raised, and the eyelids are trembling.

And even the pupils of the eyes are turning black.

Startled, I tried to call Amy, but Shine’s hands were faster.

She shook her head, holding my hand, as if it were nothing.

Amy was talking to Jin while looking at the dwindling number of people.

When it seemed like Jin and Amy’s conversation was going to be prolonged, Shine suddenly stood up from her seat.

The eyes that had been dark had now turned white.

    “Shine?”

    “Over there.”

Shine reached out to me and pointed to a place.

I looked at her, holding the bag of chips in my arms, at her words.

In the distance, a woman came into view exiting the gate.

She was a very ordinary-looking woman, nothing special.

A woman with a slightly different impression from the woman seen in the photo.

The impression is blurry, as if I’m wearing a bracelet that reduces my perception…

    bracelet?

    “Amy!”

I quickly grabbed Amy and pulled her towards me.

Amy, who had been talking through the receiver, turned her head at my words.

Finally, her gaze turned to the woman Shine had discovered.

A faint smile appeared on Amy’s face as she realized that the woman Shine had found was indeed our target.

The cognitive impairment bracelet doesn’t work on her.

    “Found it.”

[Huh? I’ll send the rest of the team right now. Don’t miss them and follow them.]

    “Yes.”

I could hear Jin’s words through the receiver, so I immediately got up from my seat.

Amy naturally lowered her hand, held mine and Shine’s hands, and began to walk slowly.

“Ho, what if you run away?”

“So I’ll keep my distance so I don’t get caught.”

I kept my mouth shut at Amy’s words.

The woman wearing the cognitive impairment bracelet was so blurry.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her, because I felt like I would lose her the moment I looked away.

If I hadn’t brought my star-shaped sunglasses, the woman would have definitely noticed my gaze.

Amy, who was slowly approaching the woman, suddenly turned to the side.

The sudden change of direction startled me so much that I dropped the bag of chips I was holding.

The bag fell from his hand and opened wide, potato chips spilling out.

    “Oops.”

    “It’s okay. You did well.”

Amy whispered so quietly that no one around her could hear, then sat down and started picking up the cookies I had dropped.

The gaze that had been drawn to the sudden outpouring of sweets quickly disappeared.

    “Ouch… I’m sorry.”

“No. I almost got caught just now. That was a good thing.”

I couldn’t figure out where I almost got caught, but I couldn’t help but laugh like an idiot at Amy’s compliment.

I followed Amy and sat down on the floor, picking up the cookies I had spilled.

Amy said to Jin as she cleaned up the cookies.

“You’re not alone? I clearly heard you were alone.”

[You didn’t expect that much, did you?]

“But the information needs to be confirmed. We have kids too.”

    [hmm…]

“Anyway, I don’t think we can subdue them without causing any damage. Should we just watch from afar?”

Amy, who had finished cleaning up the snacks, took me in her arms and said.

His voice was a little loud, as if he was speaking so that people around him could hear.

“Are you a good person? I’ll buy you more. Don’t cry.”

I didn’t cry. When I looked at Amy with a bewildered expression, she smiled slightly and buried my head in her chest.

    “Ugh, uh. Ugh.”

I twisted my head from side to side in frustration and opened my mouth, but Amy’s large chest blocked my words.

Eventually, I released the strength from my body and leaned into Amy’s arms.

“Jeff. I don’t think you’re going to the bathroom?”

At Amy’s whisper, I raised my head slightly and looked at the place where the woman had been.

She walked out slowly, checked her appearance in the hand mirror, and then started walking out of the building.

If Shine hadn’t found her, we would have definitely missed her.

    “Oh, you’re not following?”

    “You can’t go yet.”

Amy answered my questions, quickly pointing in several directions with her eyes.

As I was concentrating on her expression, I focused my powers on where her gaze was directed.

A faint radio wave, a foreign flow, flowed into my head.

“Hey, I hear a strange sound.”

    I muttered, covering my ears.

Because I heard a strange crying sound that was not a human voice.

“I guess they deployed the animal kingdom power users.”

I lowered the power output at Amy’s words.

The beast’s howl that had been lingering in my head disappeared in an instant.

Animal kingdom power users were able to utilize the characteristics of the animal they were based on.

The language of animals was one of them.

If it weren’t for the language of the people, there would be nothing to be found out by eavesdropping.

If the distance had been close, I could have hacked into their cell phone or any electronic devices they had and extracted the information, but I didn’t have the confidence to get close enough to avoid being detected.

I let out a small sigh.

    “Let’s go.”

Amy, who had been quiet for a while, grabbed Shine’s hand and headed outside.

As soon as I stepped out of the airport, the sweltering heat poured down on me.

My breath is ragged and my body feels heavy.

    “It’s hotter…”

I squirmed, trying to get out of Amy’s arms.

It was nice to be in Amy’s arms, but in this hot weather, being in her arms was sure to make me sweat and clammy in no time.

    Amy eventually let me down.

“Where are you going in this hot weather?”

“Well, aren’t we going to do a really bad experiment?”

I nodded to Amy and fanned my face with my hand.

A small breeze had formed, but it could not completely cool down the sweltering heat.

    I looked into the distance.

A very, very far away place.

The target woman appeared to be walking alone, but people were seen following her at regular intervals as if escorting her.

    One, two, three…

The escorts I identified were five in total.

No matter how much I looked around, nothing else caught my eye.

    “Are there five of them?”

    “No. It’s seven.”

It was Shine who answered my question.

She was looking at me with a smug expression.

Then Amy smiled slightly and patted Shine’s head.

    “Shine is the answer.”

Shine approached me and told me the location of the escorts I couldn’t find.

There was a delivery man on a bicycle and a part-time worker who put up posters on every wall.

I couldn’t understand even when I looked at those two.

    Are they really escorts?

When I tilted my head as if I didn’t understand, Shine whispered softly in my ear.

“Look closely, the two of them are making small shapes with their hands while exchanging glances.”

I glanced at the delivery man and the part-time worker as she spoke.

Then, at an incredibly odd timing, the two exchanged glances and moved their hands slightly to make a strange sign.

Because it happened in such a short time, it seemed impossible to notice it unless you were paying close attention to the two people.

    “Okay. We’re leaving.”

    “Huh?”

“It looks like the other team members have arrived.”

Amy, who had been following the woman, suddenly came out and grabbed Shine’s hand, changing direction.

The target woman moves away in an instant.

“Is it okay to send it like this?”

“Yeah. To begin with, our abilities aren’t specialized for tracking. ”

    “That’s true, but…”

“We’re going to do something else.”

Holding Amy’s hand, I crossed the traffic light and entered a commercial building.

She moved without hesitation and opened the door to a beauty salon wide.

But what was inside the door was not a beauty salon, but a black warp.

    “I’ll move now.”

    [great job.]

After Jin’s words, Amy took Shine and me by the hand and entered the warp.
