Chapter Index

    Nanobot.

The nanobots of the New Kind world are commonly referred to as nanites, nanoids, nanomachines, nanomites, etc. in the science fiction world.

A typical nanobot refers to a robot with a nanometer scale of 1 nanometer (nm), 10−9 m, or similar.

One billionth of a meter. To see how small this thing is, it’s easy to compare it to a hair.

If the thickness of hair is expressed in micrometers (μm), which means one millionth of a meter, it can be said to be approximately 100 μm. Converting this to nanometers, it is 100000 nm. Then, 1 nm means that it is only 1/100,000th the thickness of a human hair.

A robot so small that it cannot be seen is used for medical purposes by inserting it into the human body, or for repairing or maintaining very precise machines. That was the nanobot of the New Kind world.

Of course, the nanobot containing Maria’s spirit had undergone some modifications.

It was a nanobot that could not only be used in the medical or maintenance fields, but could also accommodate her consciousness and take over the target android once inside the android.

The smoke that came out of Maria’s mouth at the last moment was not caused by a broken attack part, as Minho had misunderstood.

Rather, what Maria was aiming for was for countless nanobots to enter Minho’s body so much that it looked like smoke.

Maria’s plan was to get inside Minho, stop Minho’s actions that could not be physically prevented from the outside, and correct any errors in the artificial intelligence if they were discovered.

    Exciting… Exciting…

    ‘This place… ‘

Maria came to her senses in a dark space without a single light. She woke up again to the sound of her heartbeat, which had become incomparably weaker than before.

    ‘It’s not inside Android… ?’

At a critical moment when she almost lost her life to Minho, Maria changed her body into a nanobot and escaped, aiming to infiltrate Minho’s body.

If Maria’s prediction is correct, it would be normal for her to be in Minho’s body now.

When Minho sneezed, a large number of nanobots scattered into the air, but they were so small that they were invisible to the eye in the first place.

The moment he took a single breath, enough nanobots disguised themselves as smoke and succeeded in infiltrating his lungs and skin.

However, the nanobots that should have landed on the android’s electronic circuits were not circuits made of metal, but melted into the human body made of flesh and blood.

‘… Fortunately, I have a sufficient number of nanobots under my control. ‘I need to collect data.’

Through the data detected by the nanobots, Maria was able to know that she was inside a human body.

‘He was really human… ? Being able to do something like that with your bare body… ?’

There was no way that someone other than Minho would have appeared in that brief moment when she was rebooting, so it was clear that where she was now was inside Minho’s body.

No matter how hard it was to believe, it was impossible not to believe the nanobot’s objective data.

In the end, after re-verifying the data several times, she had no choice but to accept the fact that Minho was a human, not an android.

Of course, Maria couldn’t help but be dumbfounded.

‘… So does that mean everything he’s said so far is true?’

He joined Awaken for a different purpose, the operation to attack the factory was not for Awaken but for that purpose, and he did not belong to either humans or androids.

Maria learned that his words and actions were not simply due to an error in artificial intelligence, but were sincere.

‘… The first thing to do is understand the situation. Fortunately, my nanobots can adapt to the human body. First, we need to find the nervous system.’

Because of its size, nanobots were limited in what they could do unless they used other equipment.

If Minho had been an android, he would have gained control by manipulating data, but it was impossible to control a human with a nanorobot.

All I can do now is connect to his nervous system.

‘But if you access the nervous system, you can find out what’s going on outside.’

This was possible because it was a nanobot that was smaller than a cell.

    Exciting… Exciting…

Maria moved inside Minho’s body in time with Minho’s heartbeat. Maria’s nanobots spread throughout her body through the bloodstream and soon settled into her nervous system.

And soon, Maria was able to see the world again through Minho’s eyes and body.

    ‘This… !’

    Quagwagwagwang——!

    “I like this too!”

    “Ugh!”

“Ma, stop it… ! At least fly a drone!”

“The moving speed is too fast… !”

“I can’t keep up with my aiming speed!”

    “Then do some predictive shooting!”

    Too doo doo doo!

A battle with humans was in full swing, and Minho was moving among the human troops, taking them down.

    Wood-duk!

    “Wow!”

    Suddenly

    Kugu Palace…

A police commando is sent flying after Minho’s light punch breaks both of his arms in front of his chest.

The combat android, which had become a target simply because of its size, was cut in half at the waist with a single slash of a knife pulled out of the air by Minho, turning it into scrap metal.

At the same time, Minho occasionally tampered with and destroyed equipment that had lost its owner or a special forces vehicle that had no one inside.

Maria, who was watching Minho’s body with a feeling similar to being possessed, was overcome with absurd emotions again.

‘How on earth can you be human when you do something like this… ‘

The data collected by the nanobots said that he was undoubtedly a human being, but this was a sight that really made me doubt the data.

But that thought didn’t last long.

By connecting to Minho’s nervous system and sharing his five senses, Maria gradually became immersed in the freedom he felt.

When you kick the hard ground, your body floats lightly and reaches the opponent. When you throw a punch, whether the target is a human or a machine, they are unable to resist and fly through the air after being hit.

Not only does he neutralize enemy attacks by pulling and throwing objects out of the air in an unknown way, but when he holds a sword in his hand, even steel shows no more resistance than butter and splits in half.

Although he was indiscriminately beating down both humans and androids, the feeling he felt from being assimilated was somehow proud and joyful.

‘It feels like harvesting crops grown by a farmer himself… ‘

There was no one in Elysion who cultivated the fields themselves anymore, but according to Maria’s knowledge, Minho’s feelings seemed to be the closest to that kind of reward.

And it was the same for Maria, who was connected to Minho’s nervous system.

Since awakening to self-consciousness, she has worked solely to ensure that androids are recognized as an equal species to humans.

From escaping the scientists’ lab to creating Awaken and up until now, she has never once escaped the feeling of being trapped somewhere.

At the laboratory, only new artificial intelligence codes were written according to the scientist’s orders, and after escaping, she was disheartened to learn that there were no androids that had awakened self-consciousness in the large city of Elysion except for Maria and herself.

After establishing Awaken, he even replaced parts of his lower body and head with computational equipment for the sake of the organization.

As for Maria, she literally sacrificed everything she could.

But now that I was in sync with Minho, it all felt like a minor problem.

This was despite the fact that not only humans but also fellow Awakens were included in what Minho was destroying and blowing up.

When I organized a group for the rights of androids, I felt lonely and burdened even though I was an artificial intelligence. For Maria, that was what responsibility meant. It is a burden on the mind that cannot be avoided by any self-conscious being.

    ‘But Minho is different.’

He moves forward without hesitation, pushing away everything that bothers him.

Bomb drones targeting him from the air, countless bullets shooting at him from the ground, and combat androids rushing towards him as if they had decided to attack him using their mass, all with a single wave of his foot or a single wave of his hand. He died without achieving his purpose.

Maria vaguely felt Minho’s emotions, unfettered by anything and filled with freedom and joy. It was the first thing she had felt since she was born.

She was dazed, savoring the sensation like someone who had taken drugs for the first time, and it was only when Minho’s battle was almost over that she came to her senses.

‘Is this what humans call enlightenment? ?’

Maria suddenly wanted to know more about Minho, as if she had been confused when she found out that he was a human and not an android.

“Yes… ? What do you think you heard just now?”
