Chapter Index

The warm spring has ended and the hot summer has arrived.

Allen’s Forest was teeming with bugs during the hot season.

The sound of cicadas can be heard from all directions, and when you enter the forest, swarms of mosquitoes fly in out of the blue.

It wasn’t an environment where you could play comfortably.

But still, I wanted to go into the forest.

What comes to mind when you think of summer?

I think of water play and campfires.

It was a scene that often appeared in my favorite animations and Rain’s comics.

I really wanted to have a campfire, something I’ve never done before.

    “No.”

But Allen stopped me and Shine Lane from entering the forest.

As you approach, the swaying trees form a large wall.

I puffed out my cheeks and stared into the boy’s golden eyes.

Allen just smiled faintly and didn’t make way.

    “Why not?”

“Amy told me not to let you guys go into the woods together.”

    “Rain, there’s also Rain?”

I said, leaning forward towards Rain, who was standing next to me.

There is an adult there to look after us, so going into the forest will not be a problem.

    At least I thought so.

    “That’s right!”

Rain also shouted, sticking out his small chest.

But Allen seemed to think differently.

    “No.”

    He was resolute.

A stern golden gaze was turned towards me.

It was difficult to read emotions in his eyes.

It felt like I was looking at the forest itself, so I didn’t even feel the rejection I felt from other men.

“If you want to go in, you have to come with Amy or another adult.”

Allen said that and climbed up the tree.

I sighed at the sight of him climbing the tall tree like a squirrel.

Allen’s Forest was one of the few places where we could play safely, but after that incident a while ago, Amy banned us from entering the forest.

If we asked Amy, she would come into the forest with us and play, but she was very busy right now.

He wakes up early in the morning, prepares a simple breakfast, and then disappears.

Amy returns to the office after a late lunch, smiling a little tiredly.

After talking to Jin, she goes out again.

Amy, who came back so late in the evening, lay down on the bed with a tired face and fell asleep.

This was Amy’s routine for the past week.

    “What should I do…”

I put my bag down and muttered quietly.

The dinosaur’s belly was bloated from all the camping gear stuffed into it.

    “Should I call Victor?”

    “Ugh!”

Rain shook his head with a disgusted expression at my small muttering.

    Victor hates Rain, so pass.

Then I had to find another adult.

It has to be an adult who can help us, and all three of them have to be comfortable with it.

And people who have time to spare.

I wonder if there is an adult like that here?

    “How about Mary?”

    “Mary!”

At Shine’s words, I jumped up and nodded.

Mary was someone all three of us liked.

    And she was an adult.

You can come into the forest with us.

We immediately ran to the lab where Mary was.

Arriving at the lab door, we hung on to it and pounded it hard with our small fists.

    Dudadada-

After knocking like that, I waited for a moment and the door opened and Mary appeared.

She looked tired, adjusting her glasses and looking around.

At her behavior of only looking at others at his own eye level, he reached out and grabbed the hem of her clothes.

“Oh. Jeff? Shine? And Rain too? What’s going on here?”

    Mary yawned and asked us,

I poked my head through the door, spotting a shiny object behind her.

    “Wow!”

    “Wow!”

Rain did the same thing to me.

    I couldn’t remember why I came here.

My gaze was focused solely on that glitter.

Of course, I didn’t get too close.

Mary and I made one promise.

I decided not to touch anything inside the lab without permission.

    We kept that promise thoroughly.

    “What is this?”

    “Item currently in production.”

Mary answered as she went to her seat.

Judging by the limp way her orange hair hung limply, she must have been working on this item all night.

As I nodded to her answer, I was able to recall why I had come here.

“Oh. Right. Mary, I have a favor to ask.”

    “What favor?”

“Can you have a campfire with me?”

I looked up at Mary and said.

I also didn’t forget to take the same stance I always took when asking Amy for a favor.

With shining eyes, he clasps both hands together in the middle.

I really, really want to do it.

Amy usually complied with most requests like this.

    “Campfire?”

    “Yes!”

    But Mary was not Amy.

She shook her head, lifting the cup of hot coffee.

    “Sorry, I can’t leave.”

    “Ahh…”

Eventually we left the lab and went out into the hallway.

    It sag without any strength.

I really wanted to have a campfire.

We sing wonderful songs, eat delicious food, and sit around a campfire together looking at the stars.

How fun it would be. How interesting it would be.

We eventually ended up back at the office.

    “Where have you been?”

As I returned to my seat and lay down, Victor, who had just returned from a quick workout, asked.

He walked straight to the fridge and gulped down the drink he had prepared.

    I stared at Rain silently.

She shook her head as if she absolutely did not want to, but the only person she could ask for a favor was Victor.

I approached Lane and whispered softly.

    “Rain. Rain.”

    “Ugh, ugh!”

Was it because his lips were close enough to touch my ear?

Rain flinched, greatly embarrassed by my voice.

    “Rain is an adult.”

    “Oh, that’s right… I’m an adult.”

“Then, can’t Rain, who’s an adult, put up with it?”

    “What, what?”

“I mean Victor. You’re rejecting him because you don’t like Victor, right?”

    “It’s not that I don’t like you… It’s just that you keep teasing me…”

I hugged the inflated ball rain from behind.

I gently stroke the trembling chick in my arms.

“I want to have a campfire~ I want to go into the forest.”

    “Ugh, ugh…”

“Can Rain just endure it once?”

Instead of answering, Rain kept his mouth shut.

Without Amy, Victor and Lane fought a lot.

    That’s so childish.

I couldn’t figure out what happened between them, but they didn’t seem to be on bad terms.

I used my ability to sweep Lane’s back.

Pajijik – A faint light flows into Rain’s body.

Then, Rain immediately fell to the ground, looking limp and untied.

    “Oh, oh. This again… Ah-”

I sat the drooping Rain down on the chair and approached Victor.

Victor sitting at his desk, concentrating on his work.

I gently tapped his desk with my hand.

    dripping-

Then Victor’s gaze turned to me.

I opened my mouth with a bashful laugh.

    “Victor, do you have time?”

    “Time?”

“Yes, I thought you weren’t going out today.”

Victor immediately checked his schedule at my words.

He looked at his phone screen and shook his head as he answered.

    “I don’t think so.”

I smiled brightly at his answer and said,

“Oh. Well, you know. Could you help us get into the forest?”

    “Forest?”

“Yes. I mean Allen’s Forest. Amy said she had to be accompanied by an adult to go in there.”

    “If you’re an adult…”

Victor’s gaze turned to Lane, who was drooping.

The sight of Rain drooling with his face exposed by my ability wasn’t a very trustworthy sight.

“I went with Rain, but Mr. Allen didn’t open the forest for me.”

“Even I wouldn’t have opened it.”

Victor answered quietly and immediately got up from his seat.

    Where are you going?

As I stared blankly up at him, he pushed back his gray hair and said:

“Let’s go to the forest? Get ready.”

Victor granted our request so easily.

I jumped up at his answer and went back to my seat.

“Everyone get ready~ Victor is coming with you~”

    I immediately packed my bag.

Shine also packed her bag, but Rain was lying there, unable to move.

    There was no choice.

I handed my bag to Shine and carried Rain on my back.

If it was a small and light rain, I could carry it around.

    “Ready to go!”

Victor looked at the drooping rain with pity, then shook his head.

We walked through the hallway with Victor in the lead and took the elevator straight to the top floor where Allen’s Forest was.

After getting out of the elevator, I ran straight towards the large trees.

As I approached, the giant tree roots squirmed and formed a large wall, blocking my path.

I stood in front of him and shouted loudly.

“Mr. Allen! I brought an adult!”

Did Allen actually listen to me?

I took a step back from the tree and waited for an answer.

Then Allen poked his head out from above the large tree.

    “Hmm.”

Allen’s golden gaze landed on Lane, who was riding on my back, and then turned to Victor, who was far away.

He seemed to recognize Victor and smiled slightly as he spoke.

    “Victor?”

    “Yes.”

    “Long time no see?”

    “Yes.”

    “Still stiff?”

    Victor didn’t answer.

At his appearance, Allen smiled slightly and waved his hand.

Then the huge trees that had been blocking our path began to make way.

“I’m opening it for you because you came with an adult.”

I said this while shaking Lane, who was on my back, at Allen’s words.

“Why didn’t you open it for me when I came with Rain?”

“If you were me, do you think you would have opened it?”

I began to ponder Allen’s words for a moment.

    “Huhh …

Rain, who has no intention of getting up from his slumped position.

His shoulders were slightly damp from the drool dripping from his mouth.

    “Um…”

Allen saw me struggling, then disappeared between the trees without even answering.

The forest path showed us exactly where we needed to go.

As if to prevent us from going elsewhere on the way, the rest of the road was blocked with sturdy tree trunks, so we were able to reach the small pond we were aiming for.

It was a space created in a completely different place from where the previous accident occurred.

I laid down the rain near the water’s edge under the hot sunlight.

The sound of trickling water tickles my ears.

Because it was a shallow pond, no matter how deep I went, only my calves would be submerged.

After putting down my luggage, I went straight to Shine and handed her the bags she was carrying.

Inside the bag were many items I had ordered for today.

From portable folding chairs to large tents that unfold at the touch of a button.

And all kinds of cooking utensils.

    “Ouch!”

    “Borrowing it for a moment.”

As I emptied my bag and threw out everything, Victor came over and took out only the folding chair.

He took a folding chair and went into a shaded area and sat down there.

The long chair was large enough for an adult male to lie down on.

    “Should I bring it back?”

I shook my head at Shine, who was glaring at Victor.

Since you gave us your time, it would have been nice if you could lend us a chair.
