Chapter Index

When I heard from the mercenaries that Viscount Tarr’s army was on the march, I immediately sent a zombie wyvern patrolling the outskirts of the city to obtain accurate information.

The information the mercenaries brought was about Viscount Tarr’s army, but it was a bit lacking. Therefore, it was natural to send a zombie wyvern to obtain more detailed information.

“… … Crazy, why are there so many?”

And, I felt very absurd as I was able to obtain detailed information through the zombie wyvern and the skeleton mage riding on it.

This is because Viscount Tarr’s army was very large. It was too large to be said to be the Viscount’s army, or even to be said to be an army raised by the Viscount to fight a territorial war.

Although I knew that I had received military support from the Marquis of Kurid by attaching my soul to the official and confirming, the number of troops was surprisingly large.

In terms of number alone, it was larger than the army of most count families, so if you hadn’t known that Viscount Tarr had received support from Marquis Kurid, you might have thought that he had conscripted the entire territory as soldiers.

“I really can’t leave it alone.”

As I watched them keep providing troops to harm me in some way, I began to think that I should not just leave the Marquis of Kurid alone.

I still use this type of strategy, but I had no idea what I would do if I won this territory war. There was a high possibility that they were directly targeting my life or targeting people around me.

Still, there was one thing that could be said to be fortunate. The idea was that in this territory war, the power of the Marquis of Kurid could be greatly reduced.

Troops were not something that could be produced as easily as objects, so if the troops supported by the Marquis of Kurid were pushed away, it would be the same as the strength of the Marquis of Kurids being diminished accordingly.

In some ways, it was a very dangerous situation, but at the same time, it was an opportunity to deliver a huge blow to Viscount Tarr and the Marquis of Kurid.

Thanks to this, I was able to not feel intimidated at all even after seeing the enormous size of the troops.

Rather, I just thought that I should reduce Marquis Kurid’s strength even a little more clearly by pushing away all of them without any escape.

“Then I guess I should welcome you properly.”

With the intention of not only winning the territory battle but also reducing the power of the Marquis of Kurid, he stood up and moved to welcome Viscount Tarr’s army.

A total of three zombie wyverns were summoned, including the zombie wyvern that had been sent to scout out to the outskirts of the city to obtain information on the military.

Although there would be a temporary gap in reconnaissance, there was no problem since a certain area around the city could be monitored using repeater skeletons or skeletons placed for surveillance anyway.

Anyway, the zombie wyverns patrolling the outskirts quickly gathered where I was. I looked at the ones that had landed with their wings fluttering for a moment, then immediately climbed on top of the biggest one.

As soon as I sat down on the backrest, which had been modified to a perfect shape for riding, zombie wyverns instantly kicked off the ground and flew up. The zombie wyverns quickly soared into the air and quickly crossed the castle wall and flew beyond the outskirts of the city towards where Viscount Tarr’s army was.

As I was flying at a high speed, blocking the strong wind, I soon saw Viscount Tarr’s army.

The army looked like it was a skeleton mage sent along with a zombie wyvern. There were so many people lined up heading toward my city that it was truly bustling.

I don’t know if it was because I was looking at them from high in the sky, but it felt like ants were moving in a swarm.

Still, thanks to this, not only the numerous soldiers, but also the knights leading the soldiers on horseback, Viscount Tar and his companions following them a little behind, and the procession of carts carrying a large amount of supplies lined up behind them were clearly visible. It seemed.

In particular, the sight of the supply line, which was almost as long as the soldiers’ parade, caught my eye.

“Even though you can start the Territory War quickly, are you saying that you are going to drag it on?”

No matter how enormous the number of troops was, seeing more supplies than that, Viscount Tarr’s plan was immediately understood.

As if they had not yet given up on their plan to procrastinate, even though the army was enormous, they were receiving enough supplies to last for several weeks.

Considering that resupply was possible as the distance between territories was not that far, they may have been trying to hold out for a longer period of time.

Although I could not rule out the possibility that it was an operation to stop and kill me through siege, if I had understood the situation of my city, which was not completely self-sufficient in terms of food consumption.

Anyway, as I was looking at Viscount Tarr’s army, I decided to check out the capabilities of Viscount Tarr’s army. If you were just a ragtag group, you wouldn’t have to worry much even if you were surrounded, and if you had an army with outstanding skills, you would definitely have to respond before the siege.

    “Let’s see… … . The nobles who will become notaries are over there… … .”

However, since it was a territorial war and not a war between countries, there were things to be concerned about. The idea was that the nobles who would be the notaries of victory and defeat had to take care to check the entire process.

Still, there was a place where nobles were settled not far away, and some of the nobles of the noble faction were moving with Viscount Tarr, so even if there was a surprise attack, there would be no problem.

After confirming that fact, I immediately moved the zombie wyverns into the sky above where Viscount Tarr’s army was. It seemed as if they had found me when they heard a faint rumbling sound from below.

It seemed like it had definitely found me, as a magical bolt of lightning came up near where I was and then disappeared as if scattered. Because it was so high up, even magic couldn’t reach it.

“Welcome to my city. Well, you can’t hear it, but…”

In place of the lightning bolt, which only made a rumbling sound as if to welcome it and then disappeared, I decided to give a light welcome greeting. No, in some ways it might have been a gift.

While the zombie wyvern was circling above Viscount Tarr’s army, it took out a small pouch from its bosom. It was a pocket full of skeletons made in preparation for a territory battle.

And immediately, the skeletons, reduced to bone fragments, were scattered into the air. Dozens of bone fragments began to hit the ground like untimely hail.

The bone fragments that fell from high in the sky accelerated in an instant and knocked down soldiers and knights on the ground. I don’t know if it was because they hit at a fairly high speed, but some of the soldiers wearing crude helmets were seen falling.

But not only the soldiers but also the knights could not pay attention to them. This is because the skeletons, which fell into a small shape and prevented complete destruction, were restored to their original form.

    “Ugh!”

Because they were scattered in the air, the skeletons that fell in the middle of the formation began attacking the enemy as soon as they regained their original form.

As a result, screams were rampant in the area where soldiers were gathered, and in some cases, some even broke out of line and ran away. As the undead suddenly appeared and slaughtered their comrades, it was natural for those who were weak-hearted to run away in fear.

However, such turmoil did not last long. There was nothing that could be done because all the skeletons were destroyed when the knights who were there to command the soldiers stepped forward.

    “… … What is it?”

And, in the process, I felt a strange feeling. It felt like the undead were not simply being destroyed, but were being destroyed.

To be precise, it was closer to the feeling of being forced into the process of extinction due to divine power.

But the priests were nowhere to be seen. In the first place, since priests do not participate in territory wars, it is natural that they are invisible, but although divine power was clearly felt, there was no priest visible.

I thought for a moment that I had made a mistake, and tried scattering the skeletons again, only to feel that they were still being destroyed by the knights. Even if I repeated it two or three times, it was the same.

Still, it was possible to determine the cause by repeating the process.

Although divine power was felt, the reason there were no priests was very simple. It was a characteristic of the weapons worn by some of the knights and high-ranking soldiers.

Of course, it was not said that it was an item that could absorb the divine power of priests like erythronium. It was an ordinary weapon that had simply gone through the process of using holy water to temporarily make it lethal to the undead.

If the opponent had been a human, it would have had no significant effect, but since the opponent was my skeletons, they suffered great damage and disappeared.

But that didn’t mean I was at a disadvantage.

Since holy water was not created by a priest just pouring water and praying, the quantity was bound to be limited, and the use of holy water could not necessarily destroy the undead. There were plenty of means to respond.

In some ways, I was fortunate to have found out about Viscount Tarr’s army besieging my city before there was a full-scale conflict with my undead. At least we have gained time to prepare a means to respond to Seongsu.

“Then you two, grab their ankles. I’ll attach skeleton mages to you, so use your breath and stop them from approaching the city as much as possible.”

In order to create a means to deal with the presence of holy water, the decision was made to send in the two zombie wyverns that were flying together.

We decided to hang about a dozen skeleton mages on each of their backs and use them to deal with Viscount Tarr’s army.

And, they started to move very steadily as I wanted.

The zombie wyverns flying at a distance that the knights wearing holy water could never reach, literally melted the soldiers and knights with their breath, and the skeleton mages attached to them attacked the wizards and archers trying to shoot down the zombie wyverns. Various black magic and curses were unleashed.

Thanks to this, Viscount Tarr’s army had no choice but to waste time shooting down the zombie wyverns, rather than moving from the spot.

Of course, they ultimately failed to shoot down the zombie wyvern. The dark magic of the Skeleton Mages ran out, and the Zombie Wyverns could no longer use their breath, causing no real damage until they gave up.

At most, a few arrows that had lost all of their power touched lightly and then fell again. It was an arrowhead sprinkled with holy water, but even the holy water could not have shot down the zombie wyvern due to the impact, which was not even enough to lodge in the body.
