Chapter Index

“Now, do you want to go back?”

Victoria did not answer Polaris’s pleading question.

Whether we go back or not, the times have already begun to turn.

Because the Purple Twilight Society of Bern City began moving east with a device that rapidly altered the magical power in the atmosphere using a power plant.

I also thought that the sea falling to the ground earlier was the result of the military and Victoria fighting, even though there was no evidence.

They interpret the results as they like and make judgments as they like.

In addition, those who went to see exactly what was happening reported that the army that had been encamped in the east had disappeared.

Without properly considering cause and effect, they just move eastward, thinking that everything is going well.

A faction that wants to create a new country, a faction that wants to start a religion, and a faction that wants to return Bern City to its original state.

    Everyone moves without proper judgment.

Of course, there are also harvesters who choose to keep their seats.

But none of them really got to the truth. They just ran away because they were afraid of fighting.

Find a reason to run away.

The funny thing is, we found the person who was doing the instigating.

Yes, the order is reversed. Since I don’t want to go, I found a reason to stay.

When that happened, the harvester tried hard to let people know about it. But it was impossible to stop those who were already obsessed with the fact that they were going to attack the opponent who was already suffering.

Instead, the instigator attacked the harvester.

The instigator, who was presumed to be a special agent, was strong. He was not an opponent that could be defeated by someone who had never fought properly and was trying to run away because he had no intention of fighting in the first place.

Eventually, the harvester was killed by the instigator.

I dragged him to a dark place and beat him to death with my fist. After I made sure he was dead, I threw him into a garbage dump as if I was dealing with someone who had passed out from defeat.

    By the way,

How would I know? There were harvesters who watched over the instigator. And there were many of them.

For some reason, they were watching the harvest from different directions. And when the instigator left, one of them went over to where the body was, pulled it out, and confirmed that it was dead.

Originally, he was a harvester with no role. It means he is not someone who watches over anyone. He is just one of many people who have tried to survive in Bern City so far.

A harvester who didn’t move for anyone, just to survive. And an ordinary citizen.

I only saw the harvesters, but when I met some of the harvesters and heard their stories with the people they usually moved with, I realized that it wasn’t just the harvesters.

Among the common people, there were those who deduced that the instigator had silenced one person, and they also knew that this was likely true.

There is no way to resist the great current that is happening in Bern City right now, but that doesn’t mean everyone is caught up in it.

People with that kind of rationality are the most annoying.

When something happens, I like people who just do whatever they are told to do without thinking and then blame everything that goes wrong on others.

    They always give warmth.

They exploit people, drive them out, and eventually kill them to make a profit.

    It’s a really great harvest.

The problem is that when harvest time comes, intelligence increases. This is mainly the case with low-intelligence people who cannot think from the perspective of others.

    ha.

I don’t know what’s so flawed about this ability.

When the harvest season comes, it would be nice to just gain muscles or superpowers and be intoxicated by power and act selfishly, but why does intelligence also increase uselessly?

Or maybe it would be good if I could become an individual with increased intelligence but innately lacking in empathy, but that doesn’t seem to be a good development for me.

Oh, and there’s one more surprising thing.

I had previously shared the techniques of the Primordial Heavenly Lord and the Great Gon, and they appeared.

Although it is a relatively early technology, it is effective because it is Daegon and Wonsicheonjon who know all of his techniques.

What surprised me the most was not Daegon’s technique, but the technique of the Primordial Heavenly Lord.

A technique that converts magical power into light and heat energy rather than kinetic energy. It can consume more magical power more rapidly than converting it into kinetic energy.

The sad thing is that it can’t produce enough light to kill a person. The conversion efficiency is so low that it just turns on a really bright light.

    But that’s enough.

The stress on the machine itself is much less than when converting it to kinetic energy, and it sucks up a ton of horsepower. That means you can create a space where magic can’t be used more easily and quickly.

Bern City is a high-tech city. All kinds of research institutes are gathered together. The research institute where Maurice worked was also located in the center of Bern City.

There is a powerful environmental pressure called war, and there are ample tools for development.

And there was also knowledge that I passed on.

In a world where magic power is the fuel, you’ve invented a deadly weapon.

Of course, this isn’t shared across the entire Purple Twilight Society. Some groups use special inventions, while others use things that are just wheels attached to a power plant.

Each with different thoughts and each holding a different weapon, they left the city center of Bern where they were hiding and walked towards the east.

If you want to escape as Polaris said, you can either cross the dried-up river and head north, or go around the mountain and go to the next city to the east.

The country is shaped like an upside-down C, so if you keep heading east, you can take a train all the way to the capital.

Of course, it takes much longer than going by airship or even by ship, but it is relatively safer.

    Victoria moved.

    “Let’s go get the bell.”

    “Huh? No, but, the bell… … .”

    Victoria pointed to Polaris’ hair.

    Lightly pigmented purple hair.

“You became like me, so you must have been alive. The last time I saw you, you were dying. If there was anyone who could do something about that, it was Bell.”

Oh, that’s right. The last thing Victoria saw of us was me with only my hands left and Polaris half-baked.

Polaris’ wound surprisingly didn’t seem to be life-threatening, but hair doesn’t regenerate like this unless something special happens.

“Let’s take Bell and return to the capital first. I don’t know what to do anymore.”

Polaris is very tired, and Victoria has no light in her eyes.

They’re both probably tired, but they keep moving.

    No, I tried to move.

    Gulp.

    “I’m hungry.”

“You’re hungry. Huh? You haven’t eaten anything until now?”

    “Yeah… … . Oh, mistake.”

Suddenly, the sea in the distance swelled and fell to the ground.

    Quagwaquagwaqua!

A sound like a landslide reverberated everywhere.

    “What are you doing!”

Then Polaris shouted urgently. Her face turned really pale and she shouted loudly.

“The more I use this, the hungrier I get, am I lacking calories?”

Victoria said as she grabbed her stomach. If this were just a blob of water, I wouldn’t know, but there’s so much water above that it would crush metal the moment it hit the surface.

What would happen if this fell to the ground?

“Search the house to find something to eat!”

    “No, stealing is a bit… … .”

“Now is the time for you to be concerned about that! If you miss that, this city will disappear from the map!”

Polaris suddenly got up as if she had never despaired before and ran to the house that was still somewhat intact.

Of course, the door was locked, but Polaris rips the entire door open and goes inside to search the kitchen.

Victoria looks around, especially at the long line cutting through the east. There must have been troops here a moment ago.

So, they would have beaten the person trying to come out with a weapon.

To the north is the river, to the west is the sea, and to the south is the cliff you have to go down. Of course, if you have special abilities, you can go any direction other than the west, but both north and south. It’s hard for a lot of people to pass.

Victoria stretched her arms to the sky.

What are you trying to do?

The sky is pitch black even during the day, with no light. The light reflecting off in the distance makes it seem like there is something faintly visible.

A huge column of water slowly descends.

And as if scraping the ground with rays of light, the water column washes the ground along the barrier where there are no buildings.

    Choaaah!

    No, I’ll correct that.

The water pressure was so strong that a deep hole was created.

    Why on earth?

Victoria approaches the pine. Her eyes scan the cut section of the ground. There are several thick pipes, presumably for water and sewage.

And then a mechanical device popped out next to it.

Anyone who knows anything about wind-up machines knows what that is.

A wind-up machine that goes back and forth underground. It is responsible for maintaining the water and sewer systems, or for quickly sending letters and parcels.

Originally, it was a machine that laid rails for the maintenance of water and sewer systems and repaired minor damage. As the memory of that place shines, many memories are drawn together.

It’s not like you can just bury the coffin and be careful of corrosion like in a faded memory world. It’s said that it’s common to hire a repairman because the interior is often damaged by monsters or shock waves from magic from above.

Bern City is where machines have replaced it.

And instead of just leaving the spiderweb-like tracks that run along the sewer pipes inside for repairs, we added a function to deliver letters and items.

In other words, it means that things can come and go.

The water snaked around and brought the machine that had been buried underground to Victoria. When Victoria opened the inside, she saw a small machine. There was a machine that had not been there for a long time attached to what was supposed to be a storage space.

    Click click

Victoria took it apart and sighed deeply.

“It really is not just Marquis Gaston’s army that is the enemy.”

Memory tells us what device the program input device is attached to. Victoria knew that too.

Victoria took it and approached Polaris, who came out of the house trembling in surprise at the loud noise.

“Did you find something to eat?”

“Huh? Yeah. But the only thing you can eat is hard snacks. But what do you have in your hand?”

“You said that the wind-up machine suddenly attacked the airship?”

    “Yeah.”

“The device that makes it so.”

For a moment, Polaris’s eyes became extremely sharp, but she said nothing and took Victoria inside the house.

And they had a late lunch.
