Chapter Index

    “Is school life worth it?”

I gasped for breath and turned my head to the right.

After finishing my hard training, I was lying down to rest when Victor came up to me and spoke to me.

    “Huh?”

“At first he said he didn’t want to go.”

I said I didn’t want to go, but when I actually went, I didn’t hate it that much.

    Rather, it was fun.

I would eat with Appleton, and sometimes go watch Felix practice.

The warm spring sunshine made for great outdoor activities as the weather finally cleared up.

Victor threw a towel at my face.

He told me to wipe the sweat away.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead with the towel he threw me and hung it around my neck.

The large training ground was not only used by us.

Heavy breathing and explosions of various abilities can be heard from all over the place.

Even the flashy lights that caught my eye were so amazing that I was out of my mind.

“You didn’t like training that much?”

    “That’s not it…”

I covered my face with a towel at Victor’s words.

I was so embarrassed that I could hardly look at his face.

    Today is Wednesday.

It wasn’t a day when training with Victor was scheduled.

Because I had promised a class time on the day Victor had training, my training date with Victor changed.

I thought this would help me avoid the hard training, but my shallow thinking was of no use.

    “Jeff~”

At that moment, Shine ran from afar and lay down next to me.

The soft mat rippled and created waves.

    “Come on in.”

Shine’s body was also drenched in sweat, just like mine.

I gently pushed back her bangs as she lay next to me.

    Her white forehead is revealed.

    A forehead soaked with sweat.

I took the towel from around my neck and wiped her face.

    “Jeff smells.”

Shine buried his nose in the towel and sniffed.

I handed her my towel and sat up.

    “Jeff.”

    “Huh?”

As I was sitting and watching others train, Victor spoke to me while drinking some water.

The words that came out of him next were so flat.

“The next mission has been set.”

I reacted slowly to the voice that flowed out as if asking what I would like to eat today.

    “Huh?”

    “Mission?”

Shine must have heard those words too, as she got up and wrapped my towel around her face.

    I asked Victor in confusion.

“Um, I’m not on a mission right now? I thought going to school was my mission…”

    “What?”

Victor turned his head and furrowed his eyebrows at my question.

I could feel how bewildered he found my words.

He said, putting the water bottle he was holding on the floor.

    “Did you really think so?”

“That, but. That’s what Shandroy said. That our role is important there, that we have to change the students’ perceptions little by little. He said that Grandpa is looking forward to it.”

I nodded as I said so.

    It’s true.

I really thought going to school was a mission.

I thought there was a hidden meaning behind why Amy and Grandpa sent us to school.

But does that mean that wasn’t it?

Victor, who had been making a dumbfounded expression, looked at my eyes that were trembling with anxiety, then coughed and said.

“K, big… That’s a long-term mission. The mission I received today is simple fire support, so it’ll be over in one day.”

“Then can I go to school?”

    “Yeah.”

I breathed a sigh of relief at Victor’s words.

Since you said it was a mission, I thought you were going to go somewhere and stay there for a few days.

If we couldn’t go to school, our frail friend Appleton might have collapsed while waiting for us.

    That was absolutely unbearable.

Wait Appleton, we’ll bring you a new gift.

    “Are you going today?”

“An order came down from Jin this morning.”

    “Amy didn’t say anything?”

    “Um…”

Victor crossed his arms and looked lost in thought at Shine’s question.

    “I’ll be back shortly.”

He quickly got up from his seat, took his cell phone out of his pocket, started talking on the phone, and started walking away.

But no matter how far away we were, I could hear every word he said.

But I didn’t necessarily do that.

Because there was no need to do it.

Victor doesn’t lie to us because he knows we really hate lying.

He walked away, finished the call, and walked back with an annoyed expression on his face, stroking his hair.

“It’s 9pm today. Go to the office later to check for more details.”

Shine and I nodded to Victor’s words.

After finishing training and taking a shower, Shine and I were heading to the office when we found the chick walking towards the office, still warm.

Her flushed cheeks, as if she had just gotten out of the shower, looked so captivating.

I quickly ran over and poked the chick, that is, Rain, in the cheek.

    “Jeff.”

There was no one else here who could do this to her but me.

Rain immediately realized that it was me and turned his head with a small smile.

I smiled brightly and hugged her.

    “Rain~”

Sniff sniff – The strong scent of body wash and shampoo, and the faint smell of her unique body scent mixed together made me feel at ease.

It felt like I was hugging a fluffy cloud.

“Rain. Did you hear? I have a mission today.”

    “Mission…?”

At my words, Rain blinked and asked back.

Judging by her blank expression, she didn’t seem to have heard anything about the mission.

I grabbed Shine’s hand as she approached me, and grabbed Rain’s hand with the other hand.

As I walked, I began to explain what I had heard from Victor.

In fact, there was no explanation whatsoever.

Because I had to go to the office and check for details.

“But what does fire support do?”

    “Ah, that’s it.”

Rain nodded as if he understood my question.

A brief description of Rain follows.

Fire support, literally means providing firepower to a certain area to help other team members.

He said that he usually needs help when intercepting cargo that is being transported to a research facility, and that the vehicle transporting the cargo is not ordinary.

“Then why did we receive support?”

“Um… Maybe it’s because of Amy.”

    I nodded to Rain’s words.

Amy’s White King had a different nature than her normal abilities.

A high-density energy capable of exerting powerful physical force while nullifying all other abilities.

“I think Amy is going alone.”

    “What?”

    What Rain said was true.

When we got back to the office, Amy sat us down and said,

“Only Victor and I will go on this mission.”

    “Huh?”

    “Why?”

Rain nodded as if he had expected this to happen and sank into the sofa.

Her expression looked so relaxed that it made me feel irritated for no reason.

I looked up at Amy as I held Lane in my arms.

Rain squirmed in my arms, but after poking his armpit a few times, he quickly calmed down.

“It’s too dangerous, don’t do it.”

    “But!”

    “Jeff.”

    Amy said firmly.

I couldn’t help but bow my head to her gaze.

    “Ugh…”

    “Can you wait quietly?”

“But… we’re on the same team.”

Amy silently handed us a white piece of paper.

When I looked into it to see what it was, I found that it contained the payment details of our card usage.

Shine, who was looking at it, hugged the sofa with a pale face.

Most of the card payments were used to pay for online games.

As for the amount of money, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the number of zeros in her weapon was enough to replace a building.

Gulp- I swallowed dry saliva and studied Amy’s expression.

There was no change in her expression.

    “Can you wait?”

I could sense that she was determined not to scold me about this card payment if I just waited quietly.

    I nodded, stroking my hair.

This time I had no choice but to remain quiet.

Shine nodded, wrapping her arms around my head.

Maybe it wouldn’t have ended with a honeymoon.

What if I get hit in the butt?

    I held my butt.

Because of that, he couldn’t stop Rain, who was in his arms, from jumping forward.

    “Oh my god!”

She opened her mouth wide as she looked at the payment details.

It was so wide open that I could fit my fist inside.

Amy collapsed onto the sofa, hugging Lane, whose mouth was wide open, into her arms.

Rain still seemed to be in shock and didn’t move.

    “Was the game that fun?”

Amy asked us questions in her normal voice, not in an angry tone.

Shine and I looked at each other and tried to read Amy’s mood.

But no matter how much I thought about it, she wasn’t scolding us right now.

    “That, that.”

“Did you two write it together?”

    “I, I almost finished it…”

When Amy asked, holding out her card statement, Shine accepted it and answered.

“Okay. Shine, did you think it was worth spending that much money on?”

    Shine couldn’t answer.

Amy, who was watching it, said with a small smile.

“Shine, with the money you spent, you could eat delicious pizza with Jeff for the rest of your life. And not just pizza? You could also order as much cola as Jeff likes. You could even shower with cola.”

    “Yeah…”

“Can you tell how much money you spent?”

    Shine’s economic sense was unusual.

So, it took a bit of a strange explanation to make her understand the value of money.

Fortunately, Amy’s explanation seemed to fit the bill, and Shine nodded with a slightly serious expression.

“If you had spent the money you were going to use here on Jeff, Jeff would have been very happy, right?”

    “Yeah!”

“But you didn’t do that, because back then you thought you had to spend the money here. Right?”

    “Yeah…”

“Was it really necessary to spend that money? Was there no other way?”

Amy took the payment details that Shine was holding and crumpled them up.

“I’m not scolding you. You can spend this much money as much as you want, but I want you to think again about the value of money.”

“Oh, I can use it as much as I want? Me too, let me use it too!”

Lane squirmed in Amy’s arms, but Amy didn’t respond to Lane’s words.

Instead, he put the lollipop on the table into Lane’s mouth.

    Rain became quiet.

Before leaving on the mission, Amy confiscated the black cards that Shine and I had.

    “Bye bye my pretty card…”

I held back tears and handed over the card.

Now I can’t buy cola to drink.
