Chapter Index

Shine and I toured the inside of the school under Rain’s guidance.

The building was so large that it could accommodate so many students, but it seemed like it would take a whole day to walk around and figure out where everything was.

“It’s almost time for class to start.”

Rain, who was guiding us, checked the time and said.

I nodded, looking at the wide open swimming pool.

It seemed like there were no swimming lessons today, so no one was using this place.

We went back the way we came.

The students walking down the hallway were all quiet.

    And it was quiet.

We walk while conversing, but we don’t raise our voices more than necessary.

His appearance, which was different from that of other children his age, gave him a slightly uneasy feeling.

“Are the kids who go here like this?”

“I think it’s because everyone is concerned about their appearance.”

While answering my question, Rain looked around as if he too was curious.

The atmosphere was new and very different from when he used to go there.

“Then was Amy like that before too?”

“Amy? No, she wasn’t the type to act like that.”

    “Then?”

“If there’s something you don’t like, you make it so.”

As we were walking towards the classroom, talking about Amy, Lane suddenly stopped walking.

Why did Rain, who was walking smoothly, stop?

    Rain’s eyes were trembling incessantly.

As if she was facing something fearful, she hesitated to move forward.

I turned my head to follow Rain’s gaze.

At the end of it all, Carmel, the teacher I had met an hour ago, was walking towards me, holding a book in her hand.

His mind was so focused on the book that he couldn’t seem to find Rain yet.

Rain noticed that and quickly moved to hide behind my back.

“Over there. Rain. Even if you hide like that, I can see everything.”

“Huh? Okay, I get it. Just be quiet for a moment!”

I let out a small sigh as I looked at the rain hanging behind me.

Is it really that embarrassing to show yourself now?

Rain looked great in her school uniform.

It meant that absolutely no one would look at her strangely.

“Be confident, Rain. You look great together.”

“The problem is that it fits well…”

The moment she was muttering like that, Carmel raised her head.

I was able to meet his gaze.

The light brown eyes shook slightly when they found me.

The mouth is slightly open and the gaze moves once again.

Carmel’s gaze began to turn to Lane, who was hiding behind me.

Even though I tried to hide my body behind my small body, I couldn’t completely hide Rain.

“Rain. I think I found you.”

    “What? Who?”

    “Rain’s junior.”

Carmel rubbed her eyes again, then hardened her expression as if she had made up her mind and approached me.

    “Gasp!”

As Carmel came closer, Rain snuggled deeper into my arms.

Rain lowered his head and closed his eyes tightly.

She took a slow breath, as if she thought she would be invisible to others.

    “Me. By any chance…”

Carmel stood before us and opened her mouth cautiously.

He looked down at Rain in my arms as if he still couldn’t believe it.

I said to Carmel, stroking her head.

    “What’s going on?”

“That’s it. Is that Rain student over there… or should I say Rain? Rain. Senior Rain, right?”

Carmel averted her gaze and let out an embarrassed laugh at the words she had uttered.

    “Oh. No?”

Lane started to pull my body while answering Carmel’s words.

    Slow moving lane.

I was dragged along slowly, matching her pace.

But Carmel came back again as we moved away.

“Senior Rain. Are you senior? Did I see something wrong? ”

“No. I think you’ve got the wrong person.”

Lane denied Carmel’s words until the end.

    But Carmel didn’t believe her.

He seemed already convinced that this little girl was the girl who had been his senior in the past.

“Wow… You haven’t changed at all. The moment I first entered the classroom, I thought I was time traveling.”

    Rain didn’t answer.

He just shook his body and his face turned bright red.

I hugged Rain’s body and let out a small sigh.

Even though we had a connection in the past, if Rain hated it this much, I couldn’t just watch.

Shine seemed to agree with me, and stepped forward to block Carmel’s path.

    “Rain hates it.”

    “Huh?”

    “I hate you.”

Shine’s voice spread far and wide.

Carmel’s expression turned blank as her voice lingered in her ears and slowly dispersed.

“Go back. Don’t come near us.”

Carmel began to nod blankly at Shine’s words.

Carmel followed Shine’s words and went back the way she had come.

He stood in the hallway with a blank expression, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly walked away.

Rain and I watched the scene without saying anything.

    Shine said.

Don’t question everything he shows you.

Neither Rain nor I agreed with what she said, so we didn’t argue.

Rain took a deep breath, calming down a little.

“Do you hate it that much?”

“It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just embarrassing… I showed up in my elementary school uniform again, how would the other person see it?”

If I were Carmel, Lane’s junior, I would have complimented her on how well she looked in her school uniform.

If he had done that, wouldn’t Lane have greeted Carmel instead of pushing her away?

    At least I thought so.

    “Thank you, Shine.”

    “Because Jeff wanted it.”

    Shine nodded at Rain’s thanks.

It was so natural for him to be confident, as if this was nothing to him.

    “Let’s go back to class.”

So we went back to the classroom.

The moment you enter the classroom, the tumultuous voices disappear in an instant.

    The children’s gaze flies in.

    But their eyes couldn’t meet.

    I didn’t like this atmosphere.

    “Shine.”

    “Huh?”

“Amy said the reason we were sent to school was to develop social skills.”

    “Yeah.”

    “But no one comes near.”

    “Yeah.”

“Then shouldn’t we just approach them?”

Shine’s face twisted into a grimace at my words.

He showed his discomfort with his facial expression, as if he was quite dissatisfied with what I said.

    “I hate it.”

“But Amy told me to do it.”

    “I still don’t like it.”

    “Shine…”

I held Shine’s hands and spoke to her pleadingly.

    Then Shine’s gaze shook violently.

My image is reflected in the white pupils.

Gently curved eyes and slightly open mouth.

The bright red tongue visible between them wiggled slightly.

I stuck out my tongue and licked my small lips.

Shine swallowed dryly as she looked at me.

    My mouth was dry.

Come to think of it, I didn’t drink green juice or milk today.

I licked my lips as I thought of the dinosaur water bottle in my bag.

    “Then… just one person…”

    “One person?”

    “I’ll only allow one person.”

    “Isn’t one person too few?”

    “No. One is too many.”

Shine shook her head vigorously at my words.

Her white hair flutters before her eyes.

    “Okay.”

I nodded and started looking for potential friends who might fit in with us.

Every time my gaze moves, the children squirm violently.

His gaze moved quickly, never making eye contact with mine even once.

I sighed at the sight of them.

He reacted like that, and if I approached him, I felt like he would foam at the mouth and collapse.

At that moment, a girl with pigtails came into my sight.

There were many other children gathered around her, and the girl with pigtails seemed to be the leader of the group.

    good night.

The friend candidates have been decided.

I grabbed Shine’s hand and pointed at the girl with the other hand.

Then, surprised gasps could be heard from all directions.

“Are you going to do it with that?”

“Yeah. She’s the one who first talked to me.”

    “Hmm…”

Shine began to examine the girl as if evaluating her words.

The atmosphere in the classroom becomes strange.

The children who had been gathered around the girl with the pigtails began to move away one by one, keeping an eye on her.

I couldn’t help but tilt my head because it looked like he was running away.

The girl with the pigtails was talking in a low voice with her friends.

But the moment I pointed at her, she could no longer converse with her friends.

“Okay. I’ve decided on this one.”

As she said that, Shine started walking forward.

Her voice wasn’t very loud, but because the surroundings were so quiet, there wasn’t a single child in the classroom who couldn’t hear Shine’s voice.

I took Rain’s hesitant hand and walked after Shine.

As we walked along the road, the children split left and right like the miracle of Moses.

The two-haired girl’s friends quickly moved away.

She was talking to her friends when she looked around with a puzzled expression.

    “Gasp!”

The moment her gaze fell on Shine, she jumped up from her spot as if she was having a seizure and gasped.

Her hands and legs were shaking with surprise.

    “You.”

    “No way!”

The girl’s two-parted hair, like a handle, shook violently.

When I saw the blue glow, I couldn’t help but want to reach out and grab it.

    “Jeff’s friend Hajae.”

The girl’s eyes blinked wide at Shine’s words.

I walked closer behind Shine and continued speaking.

    “Hello?”

    “Oh, hello!”

    I frowned at her words.

    Basically, friends don’t use honorifics.

At least that’s what I knew.

“Can’t you just say it like before? I’m uncomfortable.”

At my words, the girl swallowed dry saliva and nodded.

“Okay. I’ll say hello again. Hello?”

    “Oh, hello…”

“My name is Jeff. You probably know me from my introduction earlier, right?”

The girl nodded vigorously, her lips tightly shut.

It was not nice to see him so anxious.

I walked over and sat down next to the girl.

Just a moment ago, there were many friends sitting next to her, but now they were nowhere to be seen.

    “Can I sit here?”

I was already seated, but I asked for permission late.

    The girl simply nodded.

I called Shine and Rain over to sit next to me.

    “What’s your name?”

    “, my name is Appleton…”

    Appleton.

I rolled her name around in my mouth and nodded.

“Okay, Appleton. I want to be your friend.”

    “Chi, are you a friend?”

“Yeah. I told you to speak comfortably.”

“Ah, oh! Sorry! No, I’m sorry!”

    “There’s no need to apologize.”

    Appleton’s initial confidence had disappeared.

I felt so sorry for that.

“Say it as boldly as before.”

Appleton held his breath at my words.

Immediately after, hot tears began to well up in her eyes.

Appleton’s sudden tears were enough to catch me off guard.

“Hey, hey? Why are you crying?”

    Appleton didn’t answer my question.

Suddenly, her eyes turned white and she collapsed.

    dump-

Appleton fell from his chair with a small noise and did not move any further.

    “Hey, Appleton?”

Panicked, I grabbed Appleton’s fallen body and shook him violently.

Shine and Rain also seemed surprised by the sudden situation and had their mouths open.
