Chapter Index

    The building is shaking.

Shine and I sway from the vibrations transmitted through the floor we stand on.

I stared blankly at the entrance with my mouth open.

A wall that is torn and burst.

A huge wall made of steel was torn apart.

In the dimly rising smoke, something began to flash.

Amy, Victor, and Lane started moving right away, as if they were used to this situation.

Victor started to run, kicking the ground, and spread his hands.

The iron bar fell from his hand and crashed down around the bursting doorway, emitting a flash of light.

    Kagagagang!

A burst of blue light accompanied by a loud noise.

The belated thunderclap shook the space.

    Kwarrung!

Similar to me, but with a slightly more delicate use of abilities.

The blue lightning that leaves his hand begins to cover the entire entrance, preventing any further intrusion.

    “Rain. Start.”

    Amy’s low voice.

Her mind was completely focused on the entrance.

Behind her back, white energy spread like wings as she built up her momentum in preparation for the enemies that would come again.

As soon as Amy finishes speaking, Lane begins using her powers to create water droplets.

The water droplets that had gathered around her gathered into one place, creating a giant sphere of water that began to rotate rapidly.

A cold, harsh wind begins to blow.

    “Where? Where should I shoot?”

“Right above, right above here, it’s empty.”

    “Okay!”

Lane answered Amy’s words forcefully and raised her hands toward the sky.

The sphere of water spinning in front of her begins to rise along with her hand.

Enemies continued to invade through the blocked entrance, but they were unable to approach easily due to the lightning that Victor was emitting.

The enemies seemed to hesitate for a moment, then pulled out the pin on the long object attached to their waist and threw it inside.

Judging from the fact that it was unaffected even by strong electric shock, it seemed to be a specially treated object.

Amy reacted to the slowly flying object.

    Just one step.

As she stepped forward, a huge shock erupted and the earth shook.

    Boom!

The exercise of pure physical force.

The wave that started through Amy turned the ground in front of her upside down.

The marble floor crumbles and rebar rises from within.

With that one blow, she blocked all the unidentified objects flying in.

At the entrance, the screams and shouts of enemies mix together.

Immediately afterwards, a flash of fire flew from the entrance that had been covered in lightning.

It flew in without a sound, went through the floor that Amy had dug up, and disappeared.

    “Ready to go!”

Amy opened her hand at the same time as Lane, who was using her ability, shouted.

The white energy that burst out from behind her moved towards her, dragging her body like a giant beast.

A blurry shape appears and disappears over Amy’s body.

The white aura spread its huge body and swallowed up all the flashes of light that flew in.

    “Jeff! Shine!”

Victor shouted at me, who was frozen in place.

I was startled by the sound and grabbed Shine’s hand and ran forward.

After many years of training, I could vaguely discern the meaning in Victor’s voice, so I knew that he was calling us.

    I looked ahead while running.

The white aura that Amy unleashes nullifies all abilities.

    The arrogant white king.

The white beast looks down on everything that flies towards it.

The moment Shine and I arrived, Rain’s eyes lit up and he fired a sphere of water.

The sphere began to stretch out, then gradually became thinner and thinner, until it was too thin to be seen with the naked eye.

I wondered if he had failed to control his ability, but Rain’s expression was more serious than ever.

I raised my head and looked in the direction the water sphere had flown.

There was no large sphere to be found, but something was twinkling in the air.

    “That’s…”

The moment I muttered absentmindedly, cracks began to appear in the ceiling of the tall building.

The misalignment begins to flow slowly.

The debris of the building slides down smoothly.

    “Falling!”

As soon as Rain shouted, a huge earthquake struck.

    The building is collapsing.

The debris falling from the sky had sharp, razor-sharp cuts, as if cut by a knife.

    The sky is open.

As bright sunlight begins to shine through the rubble of the collapsing building, the neatly cut debris scatters beautiful light in all directions.

The surroundings are instantly enveloped in bright light.

The sight was so beautiful that I was just gaping in amazement, and then someone lifted my body into their arms.

A familiar feeling, a familiar smell.

    It was Amy.

I looked up and observed Amy’s expression.

She was holding me and Shine in her arms with a calm smile.

“Have you thought about what you want to eat?”

As soon as she asked the question, a huge sphere of water appeared around her.

Surrounded by a hamster ball of water, we soared into the sky on the stream of water that Rain had called forth.

“Hey, wait a minute. What about Victor!?”

I looked around, realized there was no one there, and screamed at Amy.

But she answered with an indifferent face.

    “Victor is okay.”

    What is okay?

I shook my body and stuck my head out, looking down.

A hamster ball that keeps rising.

The cityscape seen from within continued to change.

Where the museum used to be, a huge hole opened up, and the buildings surrounding it continued to get smaller.

    Boom!

    A harsh thunderclap was heard.

The shock shook my eardrums and I turned my gaze towards it.

A hole has opened up, and inside it, blue lightning shoots up into the sky.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

    The lightning never stops.

It was a familiar flow, Victor’s ability.

He was still fighting down there.

    “Rain, I need your help.”

“I know even if you don’t say anything.”

Water poured down around the hamster ball that surrounded us, and a wave writhing like a dragon carried us down.

As I descended to the roof of an unknown building, the water surrounding me disappeared in an instant.

Rain, who had landed on the ground, ran forward and raised his hands toward the sky.

Just like when I asked you at Grandfather Perman’s castle.

    She was gathering dark clouds.

The power flowed out as if in response to the dark clouds that were quickly gathering.

My hair seemed to be electrified and rose into the sky.

    bang!

The dark clouds began to react to the lightning shot by Victor.

    bang!

That thing hiding in the dark clouds, the brain dragon wrapped in blue light shows its head and responds to Victor.

    Lightning struck from the sky.

    The sound disappeared.

A world that has turned white unfolds.

A giant brain dragon, stripped of all sound and color, begins to writhe and descend to the ground.

I opened my eyes wide and looked at the whole sight clearly.

Every time the giant brain dragon moved, my heart pounded as if the dormant ability in my body was responding.

The massive head falls to the ground, and the long body begins to follow, the rough tail wriggling and shaking as it disappears.

Immediately afterwards, a huge explosion shook the whole body.

The world that had turned white returns.

    I sat down in shock.

Shine, standing next to me, was holding on with her face turned pale.

    It doesn’t fall down.

She had been biting her lips hard, but when she met my gaze, she smiled slightly and hugged me.

    “It’s okay.”

Why does that one word give me such reassurance?

The trembling in my hands, which had started at some point, has calmed down.

    “I need to contact Jinhan.”

How long has it been there?

Victor’s voice, which should have been under that hole, could be heard right next to me.

I turned my head in surprise, and there sat Victor, looking exhausted, wearing torn clothes.

He laughed ferociously, wiping the blood running down his forehead.

The slightly exposed fangs shine sharply.

The lightning that surged and crackled around his body made it difficult for anyone to approach him.

    “I already contacted you.”

Amy said without even looking at Victor.

Victor nodded at her words, waved to me and Shine, and then stood up.

He said this as if he was trying to do one last thing, dragging his tired body along.

“Okay. Let’s finish it like we always do.”

Victor looked away with tired eyes.

I too followed his gaze and looked around.

Helicopters and cars flying in from all directions.

They look like they’re filming the news.

Dozens of cameras flash their lenses.

Victor raised his hand at the sight.

    “End.”

    widely-!

Victor’s fingers flicked lightly, creating small ripples that spread wide.

The city lights begin to fade.

The car, which was running at full speed, loses direction, staggers, and crashes into a building.

The helicopter floating in the sky also lost power and crashed.

With that, Victor slumped down in his seat.

Victor looks tired, as if all his strength has drained away.

He took a cigarette out of his pocket, put it in his mouth, held out a small flame, and lit it.

    White smoke slowly disperses.

A moment later, the air split apart, and Jin appeared through the gap.

He looked around silently, nodded, and spoke to us.

    “Good work everyone.”

“Let’s go back later and talk.”

    “Yeah.”

After hearing Jin’s answer, Amy nodded and grabbed Shine and my hands as she moved through the gap Jin had escaped through.

Before being dragged by her hand and moving into the gap, I looked at Jin’s appearance and saw that he was holding a small jewel in his hand and his eyes were shining.

When we returned to headquarters, we started by taking a bath right away.

The soles of my feet turned black from walking around barefoot. And my clothes were a mess.

Amy made us tired with warm water, then washed our whole bodies clean.

After being tossed around here and there, I ended up lying on the bed wearing fluffy dinosaur pajamas.

I had no strength in my whole body.

It seemed that Shine was the same, with her eyes closed and drooping.

    Rain appeared relatively unharmed.

Rain, who had dried her hair, was drinking cool milk while wearing her pajamas.

As I blankly stared at her, she offered me some milk.

    “Want a drink?”

    “No…”

    I had no appetite.

When I shook my head in rejection, Rain smiled regretfully.

Amy, who finally emerged from the bathroom, sat at the table in the living room and looked at us silently.

It’s not even an angry expression, it’s Amy’s usual expression, but why does it feel so scary?

I slowly moved and turned the blanket over me.

The blanket I wrapped around myself for the first time in a long time smelled like the warm sunshine.

“Jeff. Shine. You have nothing to say?”

    I gaped at Amy’s words.

For a long moment, long enough for drool to drip from our slightly open mouths, Shine and I remained silent.

    What should I say?

They say that sometimes you can’t even say anything if you’re so sorry, and that’s exactly what happened to me just now.

    “I’m sorry…”

In the end, all I could say was that I was sorry.

After saying that, he looked at Amy’s expression and her gaze turned to Shine.

Shine kept her eyes wide open and her mouth shut.

As her face looked as if she would never apologize, I reached out and gently poked her side.

    Shine’s body twitches.

Shine turned her head slightly to look at my face, blinked, then opened her mouth and apologized to Amy just like I did.

    “I’m sorry…”

Amy nodded at the words that came out in a small murmur.

“Do you really think you’re sorry?”

    “Yes.”

    I nodded and sat up.

The blanket, rolled up like a blanket, supported my body softly.

“But I did it because I was worried.”

As I muttered softly, Amy’s gaze turned to me.

I squirmed and buried my head in the blanket, feeling a little embarrassed by the affection in her eyes.

    It’s a little hot.

I fidgeted under the blanket and watched her closely.

Amy’s gaze, which had been silently watching for a long time, turned to Shine this time.

    Shine was sitting there blankly.

She answered, hugging my tail in her arms.

“I was worried too, so I did that.”

Eventually, Amy let out a small sigh without saying anything.

Still, there was a strange smile on his face, but when he blinked, the smile disappeared in an instant.

    “Okay. This time, Rain.”

    “Uh, yeah?”

Lane, who was drinking milk, answered in surprise at Amy’s words.

One hand, which was holding the glass of milk, slowly moved upwards toward the top of the head.

She was trembling as if preparing for the coming honeymoon.

“Why didn’t you actively stop the kids?”

    “That’s…”

    “Yeah. Tell me.”

“I wanted to give him some real-world experience, so I didn’t think it would be too dangerous… But in the end, I couldn’t catch Jeff, he was too fast…”

    She was right.

At that time, I suddenly ran out at a speed that Rain couldn’t catch.

If he hadn’t been prepared, it would have been an unavoidable situation for Rain.

Lane answered and then closed his eyes tightly.

Her small body trembled as if preparing for the pain that was to come.

But Amy looked at Rain like that, smiled slightly, then reached out and hugged her.

Rain, who fits snugly on my leg thanks to her small body.

She blinked and raised her head.

    “Good job, Rain.”

Amy patted Lane in her arms.

Lane blinked in surprise at Amy’s unexpected reaction, then smiled happily.

Her slightly reddened cheeks were definitely not because she had just gotten out of the shower.
