Chapter Index

    “It’s later than you thought?”

Wayne was in the midst of polishing his holy sword. In fact, there was not a single scratch on the holy sword, and only the abrasive material was grinding away.

    “Is that a meaningful action?”

“I’m just doing it to change my mind.”

In other words, it meant that abrasives were being changed with a holy sword, as if turning a fidget spinner. Anyway, since it wasn’t important, I sat down next to Wayne without any worries.

“Wow, I feel relieved after solving all the urgent problems.”

“Despite the magic sword, is it really okay not to practice for the performance? Two days later.”

    “Two days later?”

Even if there were artifacts that could automatically play, two days was too short a time. I had to sing the song myself, and right now, even the lyrics of the song weren’t complete.

“I’m in big trouble… I’ll come back after some practice.”

    “Where should I practice?”

“There is no way there is a place with good soundproofing. A quiet place where people don’t come often?”

    “Let’s go together too.”

I waved my hand at Wayne who was trying to follow.

“No. I don’t think I’ll be able to practice well because I’ll be embarrassed if others hear it.”

“What is it? Didn’t you say you sing well?”

“They say it’s embarrassing regardless of whether I sing well.”

Even in this world, there are facilities for singing like karaoke, or it may be a place where everyone sings, so it would be difficult for me to show a crowd by myself without sound equipment.

Moreover, I may be tone deaf by the standards of people here, and more than anything, if by chance someone who realizes that I am a god sees me singing alone, I don’t know what effect it will have on my faith.

“Sheesh, not fun. It’s okay, you’ll get sick of it on the day of the performance anyway, right?”

“Okay. I’ll let you hear as much as you want in two days.”

So right now I needed a space to sing alone. First, I left the dorm and headed to the street.

“Hmm… there are so many people.”

Befitting its name as a big city, Potera was crowded with people regardless of the time. Not only the market, but also plazas, residential areas, restaurant alleys, schools, guilds, etc. No matter where we went, there were always a lot of people doing their own thing, so it was impossible to sing, at least within the city.

“Do I have to go out again…?”

Even if I complain to myself, there is no answer. I took heavy steps and headed towards the nearby forest.

“…Hmm, I feel uneasy here too.”

As I looked around at a point that I thought was reasonably far away from the city, all I could think of was anxiety as I didn’t know who would come from where and when. The monsters that appeared often wouldn’t have known what the song was anyway, so it wasn’t a problem, but maybe because it was a forest, the echo wasn’t a problem.

“In the end, who listens here too…”

I moved around little by little and eventually flew up, quickly searching for a place where I could sing, just like I was looking for the World Tree.

“Hmm… That forest definitely looks like a place where elves would live, and oh my, those are adventurers… What is it? Another village appeared, right?”

The problem was that in each place I moved, there were some flaws in practicing singing, and as a result, I continued moving in one direction without thinking and eventually fell silent at the sight I saw.

    “….the sea.”

In the end, I left the inland and moved to the coastline, arriving at a place where only the sound of waves was repeated and only then did I land on the ground.

“…Why is there no one here?”

It’s not something I would say as someone who has been looking for places where there are no people, but if it were the sea, there would usually be tourist attractions such as fishing activities and swimming, but there were no facilities or people in sight along this coast.

    “Well, that’s okay.”

It was a perfect place to sing, so there was no reason to complain. I cleared my throat for a moment and then spoke to Sirocco.

“Sirocco. I’m sorry, but would you like to go for a walk?”

“What? Are you trying to hide it from me?”

    “Umm.”

“What do you think? I don’t really talk to other kids other than Eugene.”

That’s right. It’s not that I’m worried about leaks right now, it’s because I’m embarrassed to have someone listen to my song. It feels like I’m at a karaoke bar with someone I’ve never seen before.

“What should I do if something happens to Eugene while I’m away?”

“Don’t worry about that. It might have been a long time ago, but now I can keep my body healthy.”

Just by wrapping yourself in faith, you will no longer have to worry about dying from most things. To be honest, at this point in my trip to the continent without Argen, the only people who can do me any harm are Akasha and Wayne.

“Okay. It’s been a while since I enjoyed the sea breeze.”

With those words, Sirocco flies beyond the horizon. Only after complete solitude had arrived did I take out the relic. It was an ideal situation in which the songs composed by Ludwig could be played spontaneously as long as one made up one’s mind to play them.

    ~♪♩♩♪♪~

After finding a suitable reef and sitting down, I first played the song without singing to learn the beat and come up with the appropriate lyrics. After playing the song five times, the pitch and beat became familiar to me.

“Hmm, I guess I should go with a hymn or CCM feel, right?”

Since the theme of the song is to praise Wayne, who returned as a warrior after hundreds of years, it was difficult to paste verses from appropriate popular songs or pop songs.

Although I am not a Christian, fortunately I still had the vibe from my boot camp days, so there was no major difficulties.

    “Umm… ohh.”

Rather, the more I added the lyrics and sang them word by word, the more my reverence for the composer grew. Despite the fact that he must have spent a long time alone without any outside influence, the melody was amazing.

It is clearly a song based on classical music, but for some reason, when I listened to it, it felt very trendy.

“They say Beethoven’s music is relevant wherever you go…”

I sang happily, thinking to myself several times that I must be like this to be a god. I felt like I was getting a glimpse of why Ludwig maintained his position and faith in God despite not engaging in any external activities.

    “Wow…….”

“Huh? Wow, what!? It’s a surprise!”

I closed my eyes and was engrossed in the music, and when I opened my eyes, I saw a human face right in front of me. I woke up in shock, literally feeling my heart sink. It was a woman with wavy pink hair and coral-like eyes.

“Uh, where did you come from?”

“Eh… This is where I live.”

“You live here? There was no one just a moment ago?”

“That’s because I went to the sea to hunt for a while…”

    “Hunting? Sea?”

Hearing the wild words that did not match my appearance, I came to my senses belatedly and looked straight at the other person. Sure enough, she was not an ordinary human, but a woman with the characteristics of a bird, such as wings and claws.

    “Harpy?”

“No. It’s a siren. Her name is Lorelai.”

“It looks no different from a harpy… isn’t it, is it more civilized?”

The woman who introduced herself as Lorelai was still dressed differently from the harpy, so nothing embarrassing happened.

“Anyway! This is my first time meeting you. Who are you, singing in someone else’s base?”

    “Um….”

When asked to introduce myself, I admitted that the woman in front of me was not a harpy. This was proof that, unlike the harpy, I had no idea that I was a god.

    “My name is Eugene.”

“I see, Eugene. I enjoyed the song.”

“Really? So how much do you plan to pay for the performance?”

    “Eck? Do you take money?”

“Okay then. It’s not like making a living by selling land.”

“Hmm… Can’t we just pretend that we didn’t kill him?”

“Okay, okay, as long as I don’t kill him… Huh? What?”

I made a joke out of embarrassment at the thought of playing a song to someone I was meeting for the first time, but the response I got back was very aggressive.

“This time, I won’t kill you and will move on. It was a performance that was so enjoyable to listen to.”

“…You said you went hunting earlier, what did you eat?”

“Huh? Why are you asking such a thing? He’s a sailor.”

    “…….”

I decided that it wasn’t worth responding, so I gathered enough faith in my hand and hit her on the forehead.

    “Aaaah!”

Lorelai, who flew quite far after being hit by me, fell into the sea with a splash and did not come up.

“Ah, I need to work hard… I need to keep practicing.”

As I was about to pluck the guitar strings again, I heard a very beautiful tone from far away.

    ~♪♩♪♪♩~

    “Uh…la…?”

As I let the melody flow into my ears without any resistance, my body lost all strength. The singing grew louder and louder, and eventually it came close enough to whisper in my ear.

    “Hehe, how do you feel?”

Before I knew it, Lorelai had come back and was next to me, looking like a drowned rat, and continued speaking in a sweet voice.

“There is no way to escape from the Siren’s voice.”

I later remembered the story about the siren. Both in the nuclear power plant tale and in the monster encyclopedia of this world, it is a monster that deceives people with its sweet singing voice and eats them.

‘this…! Sirocco! ‘Blow this guy away!’

Before the situation escalated further, I planned to have Sirocco fly it far away so that it would never come back again.

    ……

    ‘huh? ‘Sirocco?’

right. You sent me for a walk because you didn’t want me to listen to you sing, right?

The situation had already grown big enough.
