Chapter Index

    Quite a confusing email.

I looked at Shine with trembling eyes.

“Do I really have to use this?”

“Yeah. It has to be this. I don’t like it.”

Shine started to throw a tantrum without responding.

In the end, I nodded, unable to defeat her.

You can create as many emails as you want. You can create them separately later.

It’s really fun to play a game that I haven’t played in a long time, or rather, a game that I wanted to play.

That is, if you are with people you love.

But that time didn’t last long.

    “Um…”

I put down the mouse I was holding and leaned back comfortably in my chair.

Maybe it was because expectations were high.

For some reason it wasn’t fun.

The frustration of having to go back and repeat what you did from the beginning.

A familiar but slow character pace.

    Everything was annoying.

    “Shine. Is it fun?”

    “Hmm. I don’t know.”

Shine moved her character and worked hard to beat the monsters.

The boar screams and is engulfed in a large flame.

    Shine chose a wizard character.

    I am a sagittarius.

    And Rain is a warrior.

A decent combination. There was no healer, but the role of the healer was not that big in the early game anyway.

Since it was an old game, I was able to clear the dungeon just by wearing the new member benefit items.

About an hour passed like that.

Rain left, saying it wasn’t fun.

    I too was losing interest.

    “Um…”

    Shine didn’t stop.

I worked hard to progress through quests and kill monsters to level up.

She seemed to be having fun with the game.

    “Hey. Jeff. What’s this?”

    “What kind?”

As I was putting down the game window and searching YouTube, Shine asked me a question.

I turned my head and looked at Shine’s screen.

“It’s the same character as me, but it looks different.”

Shine was circling around the character standing in front of him.

Other players were diving in the village.

“That’s called an avatar, you can get it by paying…”

As I said that, I checked the character information of the person Shine had mentioned.

    Shining wings and ornate robes.

Even the large cone-shaped hat on his head.

Why would a user with such high specs be hiding in a place like this?

Leaving aside the question that briefly occurred to me, I explained to Shine how to use the cash shop.

“You can buy items by entering here. Avatars with special options, pets, and even mounts.”

I said that and opened my mouth blankly.

I finally realized why I felt so frustrated while playing the game.

This is because there were no paid items that were not essential, but almost essential to use.

    “How can I survive?”

    “Want to buy it…?”

“Yeah. I want to dress up too. I’ll dress you up in pretty clothes like that.”

I remembered the card in my pocket at Shine’s words.

You can make payments by simply scanning your card at a card reader connected to your computer, but is it really right to use your money in places like this?

Shine, who had been moving the mouse and fiddling around with things, opened the payment window and held out her hand to me.

    “Give me the card.”

    “Huh? Yeah…”

I handed the card to Shine with a bewildered expression.

    She was unstoppable.

I set the highest amount, brought up payment confirmation, and scanned my card on the card machine.

Then, a payment completion message appears.

Her account was credited with a huge amount of cash.

“Buy this. Buy that. Buy this. Buy this too.”

    Shine purchased every package available.

But Avatar wasn’t an easy choice, and it wasn’t long before I found out why.

“Jeff. Why isn’t he wearing anything?”

“That’s called an epic avatar. It’s an avatar that you can’t normally get.”

    “Why?”

“That’s… It’s not sold in the Cash Shop because it has better performance than a regular avatar.”

    Shine frowned at my words.

It seemed like he didn’t like it.

    “Then I can’t get it?”

    “No. That’s not it.”

In games, there is nothing that money cannot solve.

The only thing is that the price of the epic avatars is a little expensive.

    “Then buy it for me.”

    “That’s…”

    “Please do it.”

I eventually told Shine how to get that avatar.

Epic avatars that appear with a low probability when synthesizing avatars that are generally sold.

But even attempting that synthesis required a paid item.

Typically, the cost to obtain all epic avatars is around 1 million credits.

Shine started synthesizing her avatar right away, the way I taught her.

100,000 won, 200,000 won, cash amounts that are gradually disappearing.

    But Shine was unstoppable.

As my billing amount started to exceed 700,000 credits, I remembered one thing.

If I had just purchased the game money and bought the epic avatar separately, I would have been able to get it for cheaper.

But Shine has already completed the epic avatar set.

Shine’s wizard character ran around the town at high speed while wearing a flashy effect.

A special feature only available to Epic Avatars.

The option to increase movement speed in the village has been activated.

    “Okay.”

    Shine went hunting again.

I looked at Shine and thought.

I did shine too, so can I do it too?

Amy told her to use the card as much as she wanted.

I held the card in my trembling hands, took it to the card machine, and started scanning it.

The payment confirmation message that comes up right away.

Once was difficult, twice was easy.

I bought the full package like Shine and started synthesizing up to epic avatars.

As I was doing this, I kept wondering what I was doing, but the congratulatory messages that filled the screen made it impossible for me to stop.

The level rose at a rapid pace.

The enhanced character performance showed an overwhelming hunting speed, and made it possible to move to higher level hunting grounds rather than hunting grounds of the same level.

Shine had no concept of steel.

Of course, the monsters that someone was hunting were also pushed back with overwhelming firepower.

I looked at that shine with concern.

Because if you keep going around like that, it seems like you’re going to get into trouble.

Just as I was about to stop Shine, the thing I was worried about happened.

    “What?”

Shine’s wizard character was hit by flashy attack effects and died in an instant.

She moved the mouse around wildly with a dumbfounded expression.

    First death.

She didn’t understand the concept of characters dying.

    “Ah. As expected.”

    I looked at Shine’s screen.

The max level characters gathered in front of her character were saying something to Shine.

There were several short chats, but the gist of it was as follows:

Why do you intentionally proceed with stealing?

I told you several times not to do it, but you wouldn’t stop, so I had no choice but to kill you.

If you keep doing this, I’ll follow you around all day so you can’t hunt.

    “Over there. Shine…”

    “This…”

    Shine began to tremble.

I could tell what she was feeling.

Anger, tremendous anger, poured out of her.

As Shine’s eyes began to turn black, a bang was heard.

Shine shouted, slamming the mouse in his hand repeatedly.

    “My…my Jeff is dead!”

    Shine’s character nickname was Jeff.

It seemed that she couldn’t stand the death of a character named Jeff.

I checked the nickname my character had.

    lane.

    The nickname she gave me.

Of course, I would feel bad if this character died too.

That means her reaction isn’t at all strange.

    “Shine. I’m here.”

I hugged the trembling Shine and calmed her down.

The character that was chatting in front of Shine’s character disappeared when Shine did not respond.

Soon, a character with a similar level to Shine’s character appeared in that spot and started hunting.

Shine was panting and breathing heavily.

As I slowly stroked her back, she soon began to calm down.

I said to Shine with a small smile.

“Have you calmed down a little?”

    “Yeah…”

I thought it might be upsetting since it was the first time it had happened to me.

I quit the game and stood up.

A game is just a game, and the moment you become too immersed in it, you become tired.

Shine was led out of the room by my hand.

“In the end, I didn’t find out any information today.”

I headed to the living room with Shine.

There, Lane sat playing Iron Fist on a large television.

She seemed to like these fighting games better than RPGs.

I slumped down on the sofa and checked my watch.

Since we had been playing games for quite some time, it was soon time for Amy to get off work.

As I was sitting there blankly watching Rain play, Shine asked me a question.

“Jeff. How do I kill that guy?”

    “Ah… that character?”

    “Yeah.”

“First, I need to level up and get my equipment ready.”

I briefly explained how to raise the specs by recalling the character of the opponent I was able to see briefly.

Shine, who had been listening quietly, nodded and asked another question.

“Then I can buy them all?”

“Well… I could buy it, but then I wouldn’t have the fun of matching items.”

“It’s okay. My Jeff has to be the strongest.”

Shine said that and hugged me.

I fell backwards, unable to push her away.

I wasn’t hurt because I was sitting on a soft sofa, but I felt a little stuffy.

Shine, who was on top of me, declared with shining eyes.

“I’ll get rid of them all.”

    “That… yeah.”

Not long after, Amy returned home.

She turned her arms around with a tired face and took off the coat she was wearing.

    “Amy!”

    I ran straight towards her.

Amy, who had a tired expression on her face, smiled brightly and hugged me as soon as she saw me.

    “Welcome back!”

Amy burst into laughter with a short nasal sound, grabbed my body and started spinning me around.

    “Jeff~ I missed you~”

    “Me too!”

I also really wanted to see her.

Amy, who had been spinning around in place a few times, put me down, then picked up Shine, who was sitting on the sofa, and started spinning around like she had done for me.

After Shine, it was Rain’s turn.

Lane looked up at Amy with a mixture of tension and anticipation.

Amy, who had been looking down at the rain, reached out and lifted the rain again.

    Rain, who suddenly rose up.

Amy opened her mouth, meeting Lane’s gaze.

“Did you watch the kids well today?”

“Uh… Yeah! Of course. Nothing happened today.”

    “Really? Can I believe it?”

Amy’s words somehow sounded like they were directed at me and Shine.

I fiddled with the card in my pocket.

“Of course! You both were so quiet today.”

Amy looked at Lane for a long time as she answered.

Just as an awkward smile began to appear on Lane’s face, Amy spun Lane around.

A happy smile appeared on Rain’s face.
