Chapter Index

A week has passed since the wedding ended.

They finally became a real, legally recognized couple, and their title as Deltans was raised two levels, but when asked if it brought any change in their lives, the answer was ‘No.’

This is because the two of them have already done quite a bit. Also, Deltans are people who do not have any regrets about their own actions.

Of course, I didn’t feel anything.

He can’t go on his honeymoon because Agnes is pregnant, and because he wants to show off his title, it’s a hassle to go all the way to the castle.

Thanks to this, Deltan had nothing to do but just stayed by Agnes’ side.

    Agnes finally started pounding.

    “Not working?”

    “No work.”

    “You?”

“I. Do you think I am a person who only works?”

“Yeah, I’ve never seen you without work.”

For some reason, those words made my heart ache.

But even as a Deltan, I had something to say.

Almost everything that had happened so far was caused by the rush to save Agnes. And the current situation was like that.

Delta People’s biggest task was Agnes’ mental management, that is, prenatal care.

“You’re pregnant. The biggest thing for me is this.”

“You know how to say things like that.”

Agnes raised her eyebrows and gave an expression of ‘What?’

The corners of the mouth rose. It was a response worth enduring the shame.

    Agnes stroked the Deltan’s head.

Deltan didn’t bother to pry it away, but instead picked up the fruit with his fork and held it out in front of Agnes’ mouth.

    “Eat.”

“I never thought the day would come when you would treat me like that.”

    “I always treated you well.”

    “Not saying a word.”

    Agnes bit into the fruit.

And after chewing it, he smiled and said.

    “Thank you. Delicious.”

    It sounds obvious.

    Deltan chuckled.

    *

    Prenatal education.

It was the most important thing to Deltan, not only as the child’s father, but also for future events.

But it was. Deltain’s main job is a thoracic surgeon. There is knowledge related to obstetrics and gynecology, but it is limited to the surgical aspect.

In other words, even Delta people are ignorant about ‘prenatal education’, which is neither surgery nor check-up.

As such, Deltans had no choice but to be cautious.

From what I know, the most important things in prenatal care were the mental management of the birth mother, and management of her health and life rhythm.

The ultimate task was to do all of this without the help of any drugs.

That’s why Deltans do things like this.

“You are so unfamiliar these days.”

    “… What.”

“You are the first to stick together like this.”

The study of the mansion that is now the duke’s residence.

Deltan was sitting Agnes on his lap and rubbing her back.

The face of the Deltan doing that was red.

This is why even as a Delta person, I felt like this behavior was quite manly.

    “So you don’t like it?”

    “It’s good.”

Agnes rested her head on Deltan’s chest.

Agnes, who had been sleeping a little more recently, quickly fell asleep again.

Deltan just looked at the sleeping Agnes.

    I thought about that.

    ‘Next 7 months.’

Mahua Extrias blooms the moment the fetus is born.

The timer, which is now stopped with one day left until flowering, will start working again only then.

-I’ll give you the end of the day.

    Lastoria’s words come to mind.

    Deltan exhaled.

    ‘The strands were roughly captured.’

There won’t be any big problems.

Deltan had already made a plan for Mahua’s remaining days.

There was no need to worry right away.

    “Why is he sleeping here?”

Deltan picked up Agnes and left the study.

    *

    Three more months passed.

Six months into her pregnancy, Agnes began to experience discomfort in her movements.

As her stomach grows, her mood swings become quite severe.

The generosity of early pregnancy is no longer there.

Deltan judged that the current Agnes was even more ferocious than when they first met.

    “Deltain.”

    “… Yes.”

    “The strawberries are too sour.”

“You want to eat something sour… .”

“I didn’t want shoes like this.”

With a thud, Agnes knocked down the plate.

    “Bring it back.”

And then I lay down flat.

Deltan felt as if the miserable state of the strawberries scattered on the floor was his own.

So are you angry? No, I wasn’t angry.

It was just miserable and very sad.

Deltan picked up the strawberries and left the room.

Gerhart was waiting in front of the door.

    “Duke.”

    “Do it again.”

“It is summer now. Strawberries… .”

    “Do it again.”

    Pity appeared on Gerhart’s face.

If I were a Delta person in peacetime, I would have asked myself, ‘How dare you pity me?’, but not as much as I do now.

    I was just grateful.

Deltans have finally become people who can feel gratitude to others.

    “Cheer up.”

    Gerhart looked away.

    Deltan laughed.

    *

    It was that evening.

    “Deltain, I’m sorry about earlier.”

As I lay down in the bedroom, Agnes came into my arms.

Deltan realized at once. It was the rare ‘pleasant Agnes’.

“Is my child a little picky?”

At times like this, Agnes laughs, blaming the child for losing her temper.

    Even that appearance was pretty.

When Agnes smiled like this, Deltans had to experience the sadness they had felt melting away like snow.

    “It’s okay. Everyone says that.”

“Thank goodness. Because it’s not just me.”

“I guess the baby has sophisticated tastes.”

    “Who do I resemble?”

“It would look like you. I eat everything except pickles. I don’t really care about quality.”

“For all that, don’t you spend a lot of money on food?”

“There is no need to look for bad things to eat.”

    Agnes chuckled.

Deltan also laughed along with her.

    Another conversation continues.

The conversation was mainly about children.

    “What does it look like.”

“I wish I was more like you than me.”

“If you look like me, you won’t be able to because your body is weak. I should be like you.”

“If you look like me, your personality will be eccentric.”

    “I’m also eccentric.”

“You are not eccentric. I know.”

    “I know you’re not eccentric.”

Deltan couldn’t get out of the conversation, wondering what kind of ridiculous conversation this was.

Then something suddenly occurred to me and I told Agnes.

    “Oh my.”

    “Huh?”

“I’m going to do an ultrasound diagnosis tomorrow.”

A look of puzzlement appeared on Agnes’ face.

This would be a natural reaction since there is no concept of ultrasound diagnosis in this country.

    Deltan immediately added an explanation.

He was saying something like what ultrasound diagnosis is and that it allows you to see with your own eyes how your child is growing.

    Agnes’ face became blank.

Eventually, anticipation and joy appeared on her face.

    Deltan laughed softly.

This is why Deltans were quite happy that they were finally able to do what they had been putting off.

‘The fetus is definitely positioned in the shape of a human being.’

Considering that the devil’s blood plays a role in the process of forming the fetus, we have investigated through various means and can now confirm this fact.

The child of herself and Agnes was clearly a human being.

    It was that moment.

    “… Huh?”

Agnes suddenly made a noise and looked at her swollen belly.

A look of surprise is written on his face.

    “Why?”

    “Deltain, here… .”

Agnes took Deltan’s hand and placed it on her stomach.

    The Deltan could feel it.

    “… .”

Beans, beans. The small pulsating movement of life.

    It was a fetal movement.

    *

It was a little late, but fortunately the fetus had arrived.

How worried I was because the baby movement, which was usually expected to occur in the 5th to 6th month, did not occur until the middle of the 6th month.

In fact, the biggest reason I decided to get an ultrasound was because of the fetal movement.

Of course, there was no reason not to get tested just because the fetus was moving.

One side of the lab was remodeled to create a maternity chair.

Deltan laid Agnes down there and then snapped his fingers.

When it comes to taking medical action, the surgery supporter, who always appears, starts whirring.

    “Let’s get started.”

    “Yes.”

    Agnes’ swollen belly was revealed.

Deltan moved the surgery supporter, applied gel on it, and applied a diagnostic device.

Soon, a black and white image appears on the screen.

    “… Ah.”

    Agnes exclaimed.

Her expression was definitely one that Deltans had never seen before.

Twinkling eyes, red cheeks, and trembling lips.

Deltan, looking at the screen with Agnes, did not have a very different impression.

    ‘My child.’

A child I must protect for the rest of my life, and a child I must raise with love.

As I reflect on that fact, a weight presses down on my shoulders once again.

But that wasn’t the only worry.

There was fulfillment, excitement, and joy.

It’s just a black and white screen, and the image of a child whose shape can’t even be seen clearly.

Even though Deltan only saw it, he had a hunch.

That he had already fallen in love with this child.
