Chapter Index

The sensation I felt through my faint consciousness was [hot.]

The sensation of a deeply sunken body only gave me fragmentary sensations.

    It’s hot. It’s hot.

The breathing that is being forced becomes increasingly rough.

The breath that comes out of your mouth also becomes hot.

    Sigh-

The next thing I felt after the heat was dampness.

    And stickiness.

    Squishy.

A variety of senses are mixed.

I frowned and rubbed the back of my neck.

As I touched the spot where something had just passed, a damp feeling came out.

    “Ugh…”

A voice begins to flow from my mouth into my ears.

The sunken consciousness rises to the surface.

Blink- slowly shaking gaze, the faint glow-in-the-dark sticker stuck on the ceiling of the room twinkles.

    Sigh-

I feel a strange sensation on the back of my hand.

    I moved my hand again.

    “Um…”

The back of the hand seen with blurry eyes.

    A faint red stain remained.

And a faint, familiar smell wafts in.

The smell of saliva, with a hint of chocolate, was definitely Shine’s.

    “Shine…”

I call out to Shine in a voice full of sleep.

A situation where I can’t even tell if this is a dream or reality.

Shine began to respond to my call.

Swish – The weight that had been on my body slowly disappears.

It felt like something was covering my body.

    Something… shine?

A white thread-like hair brushed past my blurry gaze.

    My consciousness is becoming clearer.

    I sat up, frowning.

The blanket that had been covering my body had been pushed away.

    Still, the body was warm.

It’s hot, sticky, and something’s missing.

It wasn’t a very pleasant feeling.

Should I say that it was so frustrating because it got cut off in the middle?

I wiggled my toes and yawned.

    “Whaaaat~”

In my blurry vision, the clock on the wall was still pointing to 4 am.

I checked my watch and looked over the bed.

Shine is sleeping soundly and Rain is shivering.

Amy is nowhere to be seen.

    “Hey. Rain?”

Rain flinched in surprise at my call.

    “You weren’t sleeping?”

I approached Lane and checked the back of his hand.

There was a deep scar, like an insect bite.

Judging by the way Shine’s saliva smelled, it seemed like Shine was using my arm as a pillow.

    “It’s hot…”

I crawled towards Lane, the neck area of my dinosaur pajamas flapping.

He must have been sweating a lot because he got up fluttering in the wind and his neck felt cool.

    “Rain…?”

When I approached and looked closely, I saw that Rain had his face flushed red and his eyes were tightly shut.

Rain, curled up in a ball and shivering.

I reached out and gently poked Lane’s cheek.

“Why are you pretending to sleep?”

At my question, Rain’s eyes slightly open.

Her gaze quickly scans her surroundings.

    “Me… Me? I was sleeping?”

    Rain stutters and stammers.

    Her blue eyes shake ceaselessly.

    “Isn’t it hot?”

As I said that, I sat down on the edge of the bed.

I thought as I caressed the exposed soles of my feet.

There’s a bug bite on the sole of your foot too.

Fortunately, it didn’t feel ticklish or painful.

The only thing that bothered me was the red, burnt mark.

    I yawned again and thought.

    It’s a little damp.

    It’s wet. And it’s hot.

I get out of bed with unsteady steps and head to the refrigerator.

I push all the green juices that are packed in the refrigerator to one place and take out the small bottle of water behind them.

The cool sensation on my fingertips made me feel good.

Drinking some cool water after waking up was really the best.

I open the lid right away and drink it in one gulp.

My body trembles slightly at the cool sensation running down my neck.

    “K~”

While I was admiring the taste of the water, Rain, who had been lying down, slowly raised his body.

I said, shaking the bottle of water at her.

“Rain, do you want some water?”

    “Yeah. No, it’s okay.”

Rain’s face, now flushed red, shows no sign of returning to its original state.

I wonder if the fever hasn’t gone down yet?

I looked at Rain with concern, took some ice out of the freezer, and headed to the kitchen to put the ice in a small plastic bag.

Rain looked back and forth between me and Shine.

I felt Rain’s gaze filled with some inexplicable excitement and approached her.

As I walk slowly, for some reason the damp soles of my feet stick to the floor.

I walked over, staggering, grabbed Rain’s shoulder and gently pushed her down onto the bed.

    “Ugh…”

Rain looks flustered, as if he was surprised by my sudden actions.

She soon gave up and shut her eyes tightly.

I watched her tremble above me and then moved my hand.

As my hand approached her face, Rain, who felt the shadow, began to slowly open her eyes.

Blue eyes look at me with a strange sense of anticipation.

I smiled slightly at Rain’s appearance and touched her forehead.

As expected, her fever was not going down.

    “Rain is hot.”

    “Me…? Me. Yeah… It’s hot now…”

I tilted my head at Rain’s words and got up from bed.

I noticed that her head was hot, so I had to put this ice pack on it.

But if you just put it on, it will be so cold that your skin will hurt.

I got out of bed and went to the drawer where I kept my treasures.

    “Ah…huh? Jeff?”

Rain’s voice, full of regret, can be heard from the bed.

I answered with a vague wave of my hand.

“Wait a minute. I need to find a handkerchief.”

    “Hand, handkerchief?”

    “Ah. Here it is.”

I took Lucy’s magic handkerchief out of the drawer.

It was a handkerchief that was included in a gift set I received at a previous theme park.

I folded the handkerchief neatly and placed the ice pack on top of it.

This would surely transmit a pleasant coolness to Rain’s forehead.

I went to the bed with a handkerchief and an ice pack and forced Lane, who was half-asleep, to lie down again.

When I gave it a gentle push, my body felt so light as it fell easily.

She fell down with a thud, her golden hair flying in all directions.

    “Yes.”

I placed a neatly folded handkerchief on Lane’s forehead, then placed an ice pack on top of it.

Rain looked at the ice on his forehead with bewildered eyes.

    “This is…”

“Ice pack. It feels good when you put it on your head when you have a fever.”

    “Ice… Pocket…”

    “Yeah.”

Lane muttered the word ice pack with his mouth open in a daze.

I sat down next to her and hugged the dinosaur’s tail.

    “Rain over there.”

    “Yeah.”

“I’m here. Sometimes I feel weird.”

I looked at Shine’s sleeping figure and spoke to Rain in a small voice.

    “Is it weird…?”

“Yeah. Sometimes. Very occasionally. I get strange memories.”

    “Strange memory?”

Rain lowered his voice to match mine.

I smiled slightly and opened my mouth again.

“Yeah. Just. Drinking coffee, or drinking beer. Memories like that. ”

“Mac… Beer? Coffee can be like that, but…”

“Isn’t that weird? I’m too old to drink beer. No, to be exact, I can’t buy it.”

I said, looking at the small hands.

It was something I said to Lane, but in the end, it was also a question I asked myself.

Why do I have memories of beer?

Shine hates it when I drink beer.

There’s no way I could do something that Shine hates.

    “Have you tried it before?”

“Once upon a time. Yes, it feels like it was a long time ago. But I was in the lab back then. ”

    “Ah…”

Rain shut his mouth at my continued words.

    That was the problem.

Me, Shine and I were in the lab.

    Right? Shine?

I looked back at Shine and thought.

    That was the moment.

Even in the darkness, her softly shining white eyes were looking straight at me.

I jumped up in surprise at the sight.

    “Ugh!”

    “Jeff.”

The white shining eyes were Shine’s eyes.

Shine, who should have been in a deep sleep, was awake.

Since when have you been listening to me and Rain’s story?

I touched my cheek with an awkward laugh.

    “Shine. You’re awake.”

    “Yeah.”

    Shine nods and answers.

She quickly sat up and sat on the bed.

Her gaze scans my body here and there.

From the cheeks to the nape of the neck, and the backs of the hands and feet.

After a quick glance, Shine nodded with a satisfied expression.

    “Did you hear that?”

    “Jeff is weird?”

    “Yeah.”

“Yeah. I heard. But why didn’t you tell me?”

As she said that, Shine slowly began to approach me.

As she crawled, her butt wiggled and her tail wagged gently.

“I’m worried that Shine will be worried.”

“Jeff, you told me to tell you if anything was weird.”

I nodded blankly at Shine’s words.

Her white eyes were gradually turning black.

    “Was it?”

    “Yeah. That’s right.”

    “Okay.”

    It wasn’t that difficult.

    I nodded.

The reason I didn’t tell Shine was because I didn’t think it was a big deal, but more than anything, I didn’t want to worry her.

But when Shine asked me to tell her, I felt a little disappointed that she didn’t understand my feelings.

    “Rain hurts?”

Shine’s gaze turns to Rain, who is lying down.

Rain nodded, startled by her voice.

    “Yeah… Yeah… I think it hurts.”

    Rain’s face turned even redder.

“Okay. Jeff. It’s still time to sleep.”

Shine approached me and gently grabbed my arm.

I nodded and was dragged along by her.

Judging by the yawn that escaped her lips, she still needed sleep.

My body fell over with a thud, and Shine grabbed my arm tightly.

I can feel her intense gaze.

Feeling embarrassed for some reason, I turned my head to the side.

    There was Rain’s gaze.

She was looking at me with a strange sense of anticipation in her eyes.

Well, to be exact, me and Shine.

    “Good night. Rain.”

    I said hello to her.

It’s almost time to go to sleep.

    “Shine, sleep well too.”

    Shine didn’t answer.

She brought me things to help me fall asleep easily.

Fluffy pillows, cozy blankets, and even soft dolls.

It returns to the same shape it was in when it first lay down.

    I closed my eyes.

Hopefully I won’t get bitten by a bug this time.
