Chapter Index

    “You found everything, right?”

I said worriedly, looking at the pile of chocolates and candies in the middle of the room.

It wasn’t that difficult to gather all the scattered chocolates and candies into one place.

    “Yeah, no problem.”

Rain answered my question with a confident expression.

    But I was still worried.

Let’s say we have some candy and chocolate lying around the corner of our house that we haven’t found.

The temperature of the room will cause the chocolate and candy to melt slowly. So, what will happen if Amy discovers the melted traces?

I closed my eyes tightly and swallowed.

My head was already starting to hurt.

    “Let’s look at it again.”

As I said that, I started searching every corner of the room again.

Rain and Shine also helped me.

Even if you roll around on the floor, not a single speck of dust will get on your body.

I could tell how neatly Amy usually kept her room.

I was crawling on the floor and started to go under the bed.

It’s a place that’s easy to miss because it’s dark. I went in there once before. I came out, but there was no trace of candy or chocolate.

Still, I went under the bed.

    Sniff sniff.

    I can smell it too.

Because there’s no way I could miss the sweet smell of chocolate and candy.

    “Jeff. Are you in there?”

After wandering around under the bed for a while, I heard Shine’s voice from outside the bed.

She was looking around the inside of the bed with her head sticking inside.

    “Yeah. I’m here.”

I turned toward where I heard Shine’s voice and waved my arms.

Their eyes met each other while lying face to face.

    Shine’s gaze wavered dangerously.

    “in…”

Shine confirmed that I was under the bed and started crawling towards me.

With a dangerous look in his eyes.

The fluffy dinosaur horns that rose from her back hit the bed and sagged backwards.

“Why… why are you coming in?”

    “Let’s find it together.”

    Shine didn’t stop.

Little by little, it crawls towards me slowly and steadily.

As she approached, I began to back away.

The floor was smooth and polished, so it was easy to slide around.

“Hey guys. Where did you go?”

Then Rain’s voice was heard from outside the bed.

I called her in an urgent voice.

    “Rain! Over here!”

At my call, Rain began to move.

The sound of footsteps that were far away is getting closer with a tata-tata sound.

Outside the bed, seen through a narrow field of vision.

There, Rain’s small feet were moving.

I crawled out to where the rain was.

    “Were you under the bed?”

“Yeah. I was checking to see if anything fell here.”

I spoke with my head slightly sticking out of bed.

I couldn’t extend my whole body because Shine was pulling me from behind.

    “What about Shine?”

    “Shine is also inside…”

I was in the middle of talking.

The tail attached to my buttocks was pulled all the way, and my body was dragged backwards.

I reached out my hand in a hurry at the sudden movement, but I couldn’t grab the smooth floor.

I was sucked under the bed like that by Shine.

    “Jeff.”

    “Shine.”

Under the bed, Shine was lying face down, holding my tail in her arms.

She spoke to me, her eyes shining clearly even in the dark.

“What do you think about Rain?”

Shine asked me in a very small voice.

    Eyes that shine brightly.

    Black.

A black light was looking into my eyes.

    I thought blankly.

    lane.

    lane?

A trustworthy friend. A child. And an adult.

    The person I like.

    “And again?”

    Shine’s question is heard again.

I frowned and shook my head.

I was starting to get a headache.

“Hey. Shine. Does that matter now?”

    “Important.”

    Shine answered my question firmly.

I said with a small sigh.

“That’s all. You’re my precious friend.”

    “Really?”

    “Yeah. I don’t lie.”

Shine tugged at my answer even harder.

My body was pulled closer to Shine.

“Then why did you want to lend me the clothes?”

“Don’t friends lend each other clothes?”

As I answered Shine’s words, I wondered if this was right.

    Don’t friends sometimes do that?

I still remember when my friends came over to my house to play, I lent them my clothes.

    A big t-shirt, ah…

“Wait. Shine. Do I have a big t-shirt?”

I muttered, rubbing my throbbing forehead.

Blurry memories begin to emerge more clearly.

“I think we played games too.”

“Shh. Jeff. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. You don’t have to think about that. It’s okay.”

As I was mumbling absentmindedly, Shine approached me urgently.

Shine came climbing up my body.

Her hand sweeps across my forehead.

A distance that is too close in a narrow space.

Her breath falls on his face.

    I blinked blankly.

    “Really?”

    “Yeah. That’s it.”

The light coming from Shine’s eyes gradually loses its strength.

The pupils begin to change from black to white.

I said, backing away from Shine a little.

“Shine. Why are you so wary of Rain?”

    “Me?”

Shine frowned at my words and asked back.

I am sensitive to her feelings.

So. Right now, I could feel that Shine was wary of Rain.

    “Yeah.”

    “That’s ridiculous. I like Rain.”

Shine shook her head and answered.

“I know. Shine likes Rain. But, just…”

I frowned as I spoke to Shine.

I can’t think of a word. The word that fits the current situation is stuck deep in my head and won’t move.

Shine was on guard. She acted like a child who didn’t want something she liked to be taken away.

    Shine’s favorite things.

    me?

Are you afraid that I’ll be stolen by Rain?

    Dismissal-

Blue sparks begin to fly before your eyes.

I shook my head and asked Shine.

“Shine. Are you jealous of Rain?”

Shine keeps her mouth shut, unable to answer.

    “Hey guys?”

At Rain’s voice, I gently pulled the tail attached to my butt.

Then, the tail that was in Shine’s arms slowly slipped out.

    “I’m going out now.”

As I started crawling away, answering Lane, Shine followed me.

Shine and I got out of bed at the same time.

“What was it like under the bed?”

    “It was perfectly clean.”

    I answered Lane’s question confidently.

Actually, I don’t remember much about what happened under the bed.

It felt like something blurry had been added.

    “Right…?”

I asked Shine in a uncertain tone.

She, who had been blankly staring, nodded and answered my question.

    “That’s right. There was nothing.”

“Thank goodness. If Amy catches you, it won’t end with a single punch.”

    Lane said, stroking his head.

She seemed to be most afraid of Amy’s honey chestnuts in the world.

Anyway, now that I had all the chocolate and candy in one place, there was work left to do.

    It’s about eating deliciously.

I moved them all onto the bed and turned on the television.

At a time when I would normally be lying in bed and sleeping, they showed late-night specials, featuring theatrical versions of outdated animations.

Time passed quickly as I was watching animations and eating chocolate and candy.

But Amy still didn’t seem to have any intention of coming.

“Rain. Have you heard from Amy?”

    “Yeah.”

Rain fiddled with his phone screen as he answered my question.

    “You must be very busy.”

    “What’s going on?”

    “Well.”

I put the last piece of candy in my mouth and gathered the remaining candy and chocolate wrappers in one place.

How should I deal with this?

If I threw it in the trash can without thinking, Amy would definitely catch me and scold me.

What was needed at that time was Lucy’s magic hat.

I balled up the empty wrappers into one place and stuffed them tightly into Lucy’s magic hat.

If you press it down like this, the wrapping paper won’t fall off even if you wear it on your head.

When you go out to eat later, wear this hat and throw it all in the trash without Amy knowing.

    It was a perfect plan.

Could it be because the empty packaging was tightly packed?

The peak of Lucy’s magic hat rose sharply.

It was a huge cone-shaped thing that looked like it would hurt if you touched it.

I first placed this hat on Big Bagsy’s head.

“I guess I should go to sleep now.”

I muttered, rubbing my sleepy eyes.

There were a few times when I remember sleeping alone with Shine when Amy wasn’t around.

Although I got bitten more by bugs each time, I didn’t feel any discomfort.

    I slowly started getting ready.

Today I picked out a nice doll to hold and threw it on the bed.

Afterwards, lightly spray bug spray on your body.

“Jeff. Are you spraying that again?”

    “Yeah.”

    Chiik- Chiik-

The cool sensation of the spray gently settling on your body.

The faint peach scent was pleasant.

    “I hate using that.”

    “You’re using it?”

I raised my hand and stuck my tongue out slightly, questioning Shine’s words.

It was to feel the taste of the spray that settled on the back of my hand.

A small pink tongue touches the back of your hand and then falls.

As Shine said, the part where the spray was applied tasted a little bitter.

    “That’s true.”

I nodded and went over to the bed and lay down.

At that sight, Rain asked me.

“Hey. Aren’t you going to clean this?”

I nodded and answered Rain’s question.

The days Amy was away were days when I didn’t have to brush my teeth.

And, I wanted to feel the sweet aftertaste of candy and chocolate remaining in my mouth a little longer.

It feels good to have the smell of chocolate and lemon in your mouth.

“Is that okay? I won’t get in trouble with Amy, right?”

As he said that, Rain came over to me and lay down next to me.

“Don’t worry. I’ve never been caught before.”

I answered, looking at Rain’s face, which was filled with worry.

She pulled the blanket up to her mouth and nodded.

“Should I turn off the lights?”

As soon as Shine finished speaking, the fluorescent lights that had been illuminating the room lost their light.

A soft darkness descended on the room.

Since you can’t see ahead, your senses of touch and hearing become sharper.

    Shine’s small footsteps slowly approach.

Shine approached the bed, climbed onto it, and slid down next to me.

The sound of the blanket rustling could be heard right next to me.

    “Good night everyone.”

After I made sure everyone was in bed, I pulled the blanket up high.

The soft and fluffy texture of the blanket comfortably enveloped my skin.

I ate chocolate before going to bed today, so I was sure I’d have better dreams than usual.
