Chapter Index

It didn’t take that long to arrive in Saipan.

    Approximately 4 to 5 hours?

The scene of my first airplane flying above the clouds was spectacular.

I picked up a snack while looking out the window, took a nap, and in no time, we had arrived at Saipan International Airport.

I was a little worried because I heard that the US has particularly strict entry screening, but I didn’t feel that it was that strict.

This may be because I prepared all the documents as I received from the production team in advance, and I was familiar with all precautions through internet searches.

Although there was a bit of a waiting line, the screening itself ended quickly.

    “What brought you here?”

    “Tourism and photography.”

“How long do you plan to stay?”

    “About a week.”

    “Have you decided on accommodation?”

    “Yes, here it is.”

I handed over the hotel voucher that the production crew had given me.

Unfortunately, the hotel was a 3-star hotel, perhaps because of the production costs or because the main purpose was not to film a staycation.

    ‘But what about free Wi-Fi?’

While I was thinking this to myself, the examiner who checked the voucher briefly said to me.

“Welcome to Saipan. Have a nice trip.”

    “Thank you.”

I was the first in the group to finish the screening and come out.

The weather was getting cooler in Korea, but here it was bright and sunny.

There were no facilities nearby other than a simple store, so I quickly lost interest.

Since it is an island in the Pacific, I thought I would have to go to the sea to see the nice scenery.

After waiting for the group for a while, the production crew and cast began to come out of the airport one by one.

“I guess Minho’s younger brother came out quickly because he didn’t have any luggage.”

Choi Jun-hyuk said, flapping his shirt as if he was already feeling the heat from the hot air.

While filming the opening, the cast members called each other by their nicknames, ‘brother’ and ‘younger brother’.

I knew that Choi Jun-hyuk and Bang Bang-an were older, but I had no idea that Moon Ji-yu and Kim Seo-jun were the same age as me, so it was a bit surprising.

“Yes, if I need anything, I will buy it here.”

I also had inventory, so I didn’t want to have to drag around a cumbersome trunk that could be lost.

“By the way, I saw Minho’s younger brother going through immigration from behind, and it seemed like there was no need for an interpreter?”

“Of course. In fact, it sounded more like the mainland pronunciation than the immigration officer’s?”

The Bang Bang-an that followed followed suit.

“It’s not a great level, just enough for everyday conversation without any problems.”

“How easy is that? Even after years of learning, I still don’t know anything except I’m Fine Thank You.”

Choi Jun-hyuk smiles and speaks cheerfully like an entertainer.

We chatted for a while and soon everyone left the airport.

“So what should we do now?”

Kim Seo-jun, whose already pale face turned white after applying sunscreen, asked PD Park Tae-joon.

The cameras were already rolling from the plane and we already knew the approximate schedule, but we were intentionally asking for the fun of watching.

“First of all, before starting activities in earnest, you should first go to your accommodation and unpack your heavy luggage, right?”

Producer Park Tae-jun said that and handed the white paper in the container to Moon Ji-yu.

“From now on, we will draw teams to form teams of 2, 2, and 1 people, and provide benefits to the team that arrives at the accommodation first.”

    “No, what?”

“We have to go to the accommodation on our own?”

    “Ah, PD, where is this?!”

The cast asked back that they had only heard the rough schedule, but had not expected that there would be a mission like this.

Mun Ji-yu froze with his eyes wide, holding the lottery bucket.

I was quite surprised because I wondered if it was a habit to stop like that when something startling happened.

Producer Park Tae-joon continued his explanation steadfastly, regardless of whether the cast members expressed dissatisfaction or not.

“If you just follow the instructions prepared by the production crew, it’s no different from a package tour, right? Cast members can use any method, so just arrive at the accommodation within the time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes.”

“Ha… Really… I never thought it would come out in such a shameful way overseas…”

“Please note that the team that falls behind will have a very poor dinner menu.”

“It has become even more cruel!”

After Choi Jun-hyuk was upset, we drew lots.

“Please be on the same team as Minho’s younger brother…!”

“If you go with Minho, you will be able to get to the dorm somehow because we will communicate clearly…!”

Choi Jun-hyuk and Bang Bang-an made a fuss and drew lots.

Kim Seo-jun and Moon Ji-yu also carefully selected their own items, and the last remaining one automatically became mine.

    “……”

The number written on the slowly unfolded paper was 2.

“Kwaaagh…! If it’s number 3, am I alone?! You said earlier that one of the three teams consists of one person!”

“Number 1…! Minho, are you also number 1? Can you please say yes?”

“Number 1 is me, Sister Jian…”

Choi Jun-hyuk goes crazy after picking number 3, and Bang Bang-an and Kim Seo-jun also pick number 1.

    ‘then…’

    “I’m number 2!”

Moon Ji-yu, who was next to me, said while flapping a piece of paper.

    “Same as me.”

He said while showing her the paper he was holding.

“Ah…! So we are on the same team?”

“Wow… This program lacks consideration for seniors…!”

Beyond Moon Ji-yu, who was smiling as if relieved, a frustrated Choi Jun-hyuk knelt down.

“Now then, let’s all get to the accommodation in our own way! Please note that helping other teams is prohibited!”

    “Cheer up, brother.”

    “Soohyuk oppa. We’ll go first~.”

“Then, I’ll see you at the accommodation.”

    “See you again later!”

After leaving a word to Choi Jun-hyuk, who was in despair, each team spread their distance and dispersed.

I, along with Moon Ji-yu and the camera crew attached to us, moved to a corner of the airport parking lot.

    “What should we do now?”

    “Um…”

Moon Ji-yu pondered my question as he put his index finger to his lips.

In fact, even though she wasn’t as fluent as me, she had no problem asking passers-by for directions to the hotel in English.

The problem was that the distance between the airport and the hotel was significant.

Saipan International Airport is located at the southernmost tip of Saipan Island, and the hotel was located on Garapan Street in the center of the island.

There’s no telling how many hours it will take to just walk.

    “Shall we try hitchhiking?”

“It seems like a good idea, but…”

No matter how much I look around, I don’t see any vehicles passing by.

To hitchhike, you have to either wait for a passing car or go out on a more heavily trafficked road.

After hearing that explanation, Mun Ji-yu’s expression became sullen.

As I was thinking about a way, I saw a sign in a corner of the airport and put my palms together.

    match!

    “Ah!”

    “……?”

“If you have trouble because you don’t have a car, you can rent one yourself, right? Are there any rules that say you can’t rent?”

When we asked the film crew filming us that, they laughed and said there were no such rules.

Since the purpose of the program itself is not to make the cast suffer, but to encourage travel, this method seemed to be allowed.

“I don’t have a license… and this is overseas, so is it possible to just rent it right away?”

“Don’t worry because I’m here. And as for overseas… let’s go and ask first.”

    Daughter-

So we opened the door to the rental car company and entered.

    “Welcome!”

Inside the building, the owner, whose skin was tanned, welcomed us warmly.

And he kindly answered the questions we asked.

“There is no need for a separate international driver’s license here. You can rent a car and drive with a Korean license.”

    “Oh, that’s very convenient.”

    Moon Ji-yu said curiously.

“Then, if we rent a car and go right away, we might arrive first!”

    “That’s right.”

I don’t know if there is a team that calls a taxi, but there is a high probability that we will arrive first.

“You can choose a model by looking here.”

The owner showed us a list of coated vehicles.

There was a wide variety to choose from, including Japanese compact cars, Korean passenger cars and SUVs, and American sports cars.

I turned to the camera crew and said,

“Do I have to borrow this at my own expense?”

    “Yes.”

    “Hmm…”

The answer feels a little disappointing.

But soon, I made a decision after seeing him using a notepad that said, ‘Give me the receipt later and I’ll return it to you.’

    “Let’s do this.”

    “eh…? Is that okay?”

Moon Ji-yu muttered when he saw that my finger was on the sports car.

Of course, since it was a sports car, it cost about three times as much as the cheapest compact car, but the production team said they would refund the money later, and since it was a free trip, I didn’t mind paying this much with my own money.

And considering the cost of renting a sports car like this, it wasn’t that much of a cost. It was a little more expensive than the cost of renting a car for an entire day in Seoul.

After signing the contract in an instant, we took our car keys and followed the owner.

And we were able to see the sports car we rented.

    “Wow!”

    “Not bad.”

The overall color is yellow with two black lines running vertically across the bonnet. And it was a cool design with an openable roof.

‘Is it okay to do this?’ Moon Ji-yu, who had a happy expression on his face, got excited when he saw the real thing and got into the car.

Fortunately, it was a four-seater, so the filming team set up the camera and rode in the back seat.

    “Shall we go?”

    ” Departure~!”

I received Moon Ji-yu’s start signal and started the car.

    Buzzing~

I could feel the loud engine sound unique to a sports car.

‘It’s not as good as a bike, but it’s still fun.’

I left the airport parking lot feeling the freshness of the view due to the low body of the car.

And as I was leaving the airport, I saw other teams, so I opened the ceiling and said hello to them.

    “We’ll go first!”

    “Come slowly!”

    “……! hey! You…!”

Bang Bang-an was seen shouting something from behind, but he did not stop the car.

The road to the hotel while admiring the surrounding scenery. As I left the desolate surroundings of the airport, my vision cleared and I finally began to see the Pacific Ocean.

If you drive following the sign that says Beach Rd, you will see an endless white sandy beach immediately on the left side of the road.

The water glistened under the rays of sunlight, giving the impression that it was like a jewel.

    “Hey~ho!”

Moon Ji-yu, who was sitting next to him, also let out a refreshing cheer at the sight and the sea breeze blowing his hair.

‘There’s still a lot of time left, right?’

I saw that and stopped the car near the beach.

“Huh? Why are you stopping the car?”

“I think there’s still a lot of time left before the other teams leave, so let’s hang out at the beach for a while.”

    “? Is that okay?”

“What do you think? One way or another, all you have to do is arrive at your accommodation within the time limit, right?”

As I said that, I looked at the filming team, and they gave me a thumbs up.

Moon Ji-yu, seeing this, felt relieved and had a wide smile on his face.

    “Wow!”

    Sabagsabag.

As Mun Ji-yu ran toward the sea, the sound of sandals stepping on the sand tickled his ears.

    Shoot~

I took off my shoes and socks, soaked my feet in the rolling waves, and looked at the sea.

    “The scenery is nice…”

Coral and colorful tropical fish were not visible, but with enhanced visibility, I was able to see beyond the clear sea to the sandy bottom below and fish like crane mackerel swimming near the surface.

Suddenly, I thought that it might be a good idea to choose works set in famous overseas tourist destinations or works that often feature natural scenery as a travel destination.

    with a splash!

    “Ugh!”

    “Huh? Puheap…!”

When I heard the sound of water splashing, I looked to the side and saw Moon Ji-yu stepping backwards to avoid the waves and falling with his buttocks in the sea.

    “Ssiing… Don’t laugh!”

    “Sorry, sorry. Sigh…”

    “……Eight!”

    Sigh!

Despite her warning not to laugh, I couldn’t stop laughing and she splashed sea water on me with her hand.

“Huh? Is this a declaration of war?”

“Huh? No, it’s because Minho laughed!”

    “Then me too…!”

    Sigh!

    “Aaaah!”

Moon Ji-yu screamed when the cold sea water touched his face.

Then he lowered his head for a moment and then opened his eyes.

    “……Eight! Eight!”

    Sigh! Sigh!

“Stop, stop! All the car seats will get wet!”

    “Minho, you started first!”

“No, I was the one who got hit by the water first while laughing… Ugh…! Ah, I lost! Stop it!”

    “Ahahaha!”

He was hit hard by a lump of water that flew at his face and eventually surrendered to Mun Ji-yu.

Even though we are the same age, I feel nothing but shame when I beat a girl by playing with water.

We looked at each other and smiled brightly, then went back to the car and dried off.

“The only thing you had in your bag was a towel?”

    “I heard the basics.”

When I took out a large beach towel from my small backpack and handed it to her, Moon Ji-yu looked at me curiously.

We waited for a while for our clothes to dry in the wind and then headed back to the accommodation.

Even though we had a lot of fun at the beach, we from Team 2 were the first to arrive at the accommodation, followed by Team 1, who called a taxi after we left the airport, and Choi Jun-hyuk from Team 3 walked all the way to the accommodation, then announced that they had given up and were eventually taken by the production team. I got a car.
