Chapter Index

“Once the comic is serialized, the merchandise business must be launched in earnest at the same time.”

“I definitely have a feeling this will work. I’ll have to hurry up and get ready before it’s too late.”

Esteban, who heard the explanation about the new cartoon , immediately understood my intention.

It was certainly surprising to be able to guess the ripple effect of the method of using one source, multi-use, from the planning stage, which is a cutting-edge method that has only recently been applied in this world and even in modern times.

“There are 10 cards in a pack, and it is recommended to put at least one card of a higher grade.”

“That’s the way I wanted to suggest it anyway.”

Esteban seemed to have entered Rupert’s head, catching exactly what he was trying to say.

“I really like the fact that the cards are not just for playing games, but also for stimulating the desire to collect them.”

Of course, Esteban was surprised by Rupert’s plan in his own way.

The story of The King of Cards that Rupert told wasn’t really that different.

Monsters sealed on stone tablets that existed in the ancient empire.

It was a story about how they were discovered by an expedition team and cards were made based on them, and they realized that they had mysterious powers, and the fight against them began.

The main character is an ordinary boy who accidentally finds a necklace from an ancient empire and gains a new personality. He then participates in card battles. The story is simple, but it is easy to understand and interesting because of that.

“But, if it’s a card game based on a comic book with this kind of material, it seems like it’ll be more difficult than I thought.”

But it wasn’t like I wasn’t worried at all.

“The existing cards have very simple rules. Even children can figure it out after watching a few games.”

“Yes, I am making it while considering that part. However, it is very difficult to make all the rules by myself.”

“Then, it would be right to create a new team dedicated to this part.”

    “Team?”

“No matter how you look at it, this card game smells like a big hit. If that’s the case, then we need people who are dedicated to considering the rules and balance.”

    Rupert agreed with that opinion.

‘Since it’s a card battle game, if the balance is ruined it’s a big problem, so leaving it to them may be one way.’

It was definitely an efficient way to have Rupert come up with the basic framework and a few important settings and leave the finer details to smart people.

Even with the work I’m currently doing, I’m involved in serializing two comics and working on an animation project, so even with all the blessings of the goddess, it would be impossible to get involved in balancing a card game.

“How about selling the cards at the Somerset Goods Shop and having card battles at the Animation Theater?”

“Do you need to create a separate place to compete?”

    “Here’s what I came up with… .”

    ***

The Magic Tower of this world played a very similar role to a university research lab.

‘It’s so hot in the summer, I always need something to keep the room cool and dry.’

‘I want to listen to the orchestra’s music every day. Can you make a product that can store and play their music?’

The clients were mostly wealthy nobles who would often request products from Matap for their own convenience.

Of course, since it was an item just for them, the research and development costs were enormous, but the wealthy nobles did not spare any expense as they considered it to be a display of their dignity.

Thanks to this, the requests of nobles were the main source of income for the Magic Tower, to the point that magicians were included among the highest-earning professions in the empire, so it was routine to always treat them with respect.

    “Welcome, Rupert.”

“I apologize for suddenly requesting your request.”

“No. Feel free to use it whenever you want.”

The Somerset Tower branch was also cautiously welcoming Rupert, who had just arrived, as if he were an emperor.

Since it was already well past dinner time, I would have postponed the meeting until the next day, but since the guest was a guest, I had no choice but to prepare for the meeting right away.

‘Thanks to Somerset, our branch achieved a miracle of being ranked in the top 3 in sales, so is it really a big deal to be late for work?’

Luke, the branch manager of Somerset Tower, was welcoming Rupert with a genuine smile, not a pretense.

-I want to make a new sound player that can fit inside this machine and work.

-This time, I need Matap’s help in developing a film.

-I would like to purchase two additional new printers.

It is certainly a thing of the past that when I first came to Somerset, I thought it was a poor man’s estate with no place to make money.

After Rupert started making books, he started taking on various requests and buying items like crazy, and the Somerset branch rose to become the best branch in the South.

“The item I am requesting this time is a table.”

    “Table?”

    chuck!

Luke sighed in relief as he watched Rupert unfold the design.

‘Sometimes there are nobles who know how to conjure objects using some kind of magic, but someone like Rupert is truly a gentleman.’

There was even a noble who came to the old castle and asked for a shower head that could provide water even when traveling, even when there was no running water.

‘Like this! Like this! Can’t we make a shower head that roughly collects moisture in the air?’

It wasn’t that it couldn’t be done.

However, to create a shower head that can draw in that much moisture from the air and constantly spray water, you would need a magic stone that rivals Dragon Heart.

On the other hand, Rupert always requested that I draw up detailed blueprints myself whenever I created something new, which was a great help in my research at the Magic Tower.

This time too, thanks to Rupert drawing the table himself, I was able to immediately see what structure and what functions were needed.

“This is a table that requires fantasy magic.”

“That’s correct. The cards will fit into the squares drawn on the table.”

It was a table where you had to use illusion magic to show each card a predetermined appearance when several dozen to several hundred cards were placed on top.

“Isn’t our job to create a fantasy magic regenerating device that fits inside a table?”

“Yes, it would be nice if it had a sound, but that will be added later, so for now, just showing the saved image of the card is enough.”

“Okay, I guess this won’t take as long as I thought.”

This time too, Luke felt that things would be easier than expected thanks to Rupert, who clearly told him only what was needed.

“But what the heck is this card?”

“It’s still confidential, but if I tell you specifically, Luke, it would be easier if you think of it as new goods that will be released.”

    “Goods?”

Luke was intrigued by Rupert’s words.

He was also an avid reader of Rupert’s comics and had a house full of comic books and figures he had purchased from the Somerset Goods store.

I couldn’t help but be curious, since what he was making was new goods.

‘But, it would be rude to ask any more.’

Luke had no choice but to hold back his curiosity, as it would be rude to ask more questions to Rupert, who was practically a big-time customer at the top of the tower.

    ***

“How do you always come with work?”

    “Then, shouldn’t people work?”

Krun, who had given up and made a face telling him not to talk at Rupert’s calm response, finally began to look at the design Rupert had handed him.

“If I make this out of paper, won’t it be too durable?”

“Yes, so we need to coat it and do some more research on the paper to make it a stronger material.”

“Damn it! Aren’t we the ones making that again?”

    “Can’t I make it?”

Krun looked at the design again, thinking that he wouldn’t be offended if he couldn’t speak.

‘Are they cards? But, there are some with pictures of demons, some with pictures of weapons, and they come in all different colors?’

Unlike ordinary cards, it had various pictures drawn on it, making it fun to look at.

Moreover, it was quite unique that even cards of the same shape were divided into grades.

“So the general one has no special features, and as the level goes up, the pictures and texts change.”

“Yes, that part is especially important! They may look the same at first glance, but there should be a clear difference!”

“What the hell are you talking about!”

“Ha… Mr. Krun really has no aesthetic sense. Can’t you tell if it’s decorated or not?”

Kroon was trying to figure out how to tell the difference while listening to Rupert’s words with one ear and letting them go.

After thinking about it for a moment, it seemed like it might be a good idea to use the celluloid and photosensitive agent that I had developed when making an animation film last time.

I thought that if it only sparkled when exposed to sunlight, the difference would definitely be distinguishable and that the mysterious color would look very luxurious.

“I think I’ll have to work overtime for a while to develop this again.”

    “What’s the problem?”

“The craftsmen worked hard developing the animation projector and film last time, so we decided to go play together.”

“Then, the craftsmen will go on vacation and Mr. Krun will develop alone?”

“Have you ever been hit with a hammer by a dwarf?”

“Imperial Soders Auction House Receipt Items Mithril 400g, Orichalcum 120g, Wyvern Leather 1kg… I wonder who on earth bought all these expensive materials!”

Rupert took out a receipt from his pocket.

The receipt listed a long list of expensive ingredients.

Krun quickly looks away and pretends not to know anything after seeing the receipt filled with expensive items that you would only see in the royal blacksmith shop.

“Hmm! As expected, craftsmen are the happiest when they are working!”

“I also enjoy drawing cartoons the most.”

“Hahaha, you are truly a craftsman. We will make what you just requested as quickly as possible.”

“Hahaha, as expected, the craftsman’s passion cannot be broken.”

Rupert and Kroon are laughing and chatting as if they never fought before.

The craftsmen who saw that sight now thought so.

The two of them had been bickering like that for a long time, as if they were plotting a fight, so now they were just craftsmen who did their own work without much interest.
