Chapter Index

Raoul Bergé, Camilla Argos, and Heron Argos.

The three men were warriors of some level, but when they saw the disaster before their eyes, all that lost its meaning.

Because there was something standing there that transcended the boundaries of power, technology, and even such things.

    “Hoo…”

The Demon King lightly kicked the ground, quickly closed the distance, and placed his hand on Camilla’s face.

“I can now move as light as a feather.”

When he snapped his fingers, Camilla was thrown back with a huge shockwave.

“And yet the attack is as heavy as a sledgehammer.”

And at the same time, he caught Raoul’s staff and Heron’s spear flying towards him in a square direction.

“Your five senses will be more vivid than ever.”

“Raccoon! Kill this monster now before it can adapt to its new power!”

“… I know even if you don’t say it.”

    “New strength…”

The Demon King snickered, put down their weapons, and accurately struck the two of them in the temples with his right foot.

“It was inside me from the beginning. It is inside you, and inside everyone, but we just don’t realize it.”

So the Demon King tried to reach out and strike Raoul’s face, but was quickly blocked by Raoul’s rapidly vibrating palm.

    “Hoo…”

“I didn’t know you could stop it. Your senses are this sharp…is this also the dragon’s arrangement? You struggled quite a bit and died.”

Raoul swung his blade at the Demon King while holding his left hand. It was a sharp blade that could cut through not only rocks but also iron.

It was a unique skill that I created by adding my own martial arts to the power of the dragon that the queen had given me…

    “Not bad.”

The Demon King raised his sword and easily blocked the attack.

“Now you know. Now I have become an unstoppable providence.”

    “… You talk too much.”

“Wouldn’t it be better than someone like you who is lacking in speaking skills?”

The Demon King snickered, kicked Raoul away, and distanced himself again.

Raoul, Camilla, and Heron all trembled as soon as they experienced a glimpse of his power.

It was a trembling mix of contradictory emotions: determination, fear, anger, horror, and despair.

“It’s true that there’s a genius in martial arts, so it’s a bit difficult with bare hands. In that case…”

The Demon King pulled out his brightly shining sword and bared his teeth.

“I guess it’s my duty on the battlefield to show off my special skills.”

As he drew his sword, the dangerous aura he exuded intensified, and for the first time ever, Raoul also froze.

Like an ordinary person facing an earthquake or typhoon.

I began to picture myself dying, swept away by that dangerous energy.

“Wake up, idiot. Do you have time to look away when that’s right in front of you?”

Countless lightning-like tragedies began to strike.

Raoul, Camilla, and Heron fought with all their might to block the blows. They could have avoided them.

But they did not avoid it because it was clear that doing so would result in the annihilation of the innocent villagers.

The three of them were swinging their weapons with all their might to block the attack, but the Demon King who was actually launching the attack looked relaxed as if he was joking.

The onslaught of slaughter soon stopped and the Demon King took a deep breath and opened his mouth.

“Heroes of the Empire. Now that you have had a taste, I have a suggestion for you.”

    “Suggestion…?”

“Nine syllables. If you can compete with me nine times from now on, I will step down for today. I will give you enough time to prepare for me, time to sharpen the weapon to kill me, and time to gather your strength.”

“What if you can’t hold out for nine?”

“At some point, you will die. And I will march to the capital of the empire and slaughter the Emperor and Empress who do not know anything.”

    “……”

“The choice is yours Raoul Bergé.”

Raoul nodded, biting his lips tightly.

They had no choice but to accept it. Even if they didn’t accept it, this guy would still try to kill them.

In that case, I had no choice but to choose the option that had even a little bit of possibility.

    “I don’t accept it.”

And at the same time, the three of them took out the strengthening agent they always carried with them and swallowed it.

    “First of all, work together.”

The Demon King returned his sword to its scabbard, then bent down and assumed a stance.

    “Sword pulling – Flying Swords.”

As soon as the sword was drawn, a huge parabolic slash struck them.

Raoul swung his staff and took the blow. He held the staff with both hands and barely managed to block the blow.

However, just receiving the attack in its entirety sent a sharp pain that felt like my wrist was going to fall off. Each and every blow was surpassing that of the King of the Phantoms.

    “The following sum.”

As the Demon King began to lightly spin his sword, the sword began to split.

    “Hwangeom (幻劍) – Chunmong (春夢).”

It looked as if he was wielding hundreds of swords at the same time, and at the same time, those hundreds of swords were rushing towards Raoul’s neck.

    “Haa really…!”

And it was Camilla who stepped forward to intercept the attack.

The illusion sword was originally a mysterious sword technique mixed with illusions, but each and every illusion of the swords summoned by the Demon King had a physical body.

Of course, the illusions could be broken by striking the central one, but unfortunately Camilla did not have the intelligence to see through the illusions.

That’s why I chose the simplest and most foolish method.

I decided to blindly block all the flying swords.

    “… You’re so rich.”

Even the Demon King was impressed by her boldness, so that goes without saying.

    “Hoo…”

Of course, the results of that boldness were not easy.

Numerous wounds covered her body, and dripping red blood soaked the floor.

“The following is the third sum.”

And at that moment, the Demon King disappeared from sight.

    “Quick Sword – Red Rabbit.”

He launched a sword strike so fast it was invisible to the eye, but this attack surprisingly did not produce good results.

Since they had experienced speeds that surpassed common sense many times through the King of Ghosts, they were able to block sword strikes that could not surpass the arrow.

“Indeed… King of the Ghosts. Did you finally reach that realm? Are their reactions the legacy you left behind? Yes…good.”

The Demon King felt satisfied as he dealt with the legacy left behind by his subordinates.

    “Sa Hap.”

The Demon King’s next target was Heron Argos.

I wondered just how long he could hold out against his own sword with his body and skills rotted by alcoholism.

“Bian Jian (變劍) – Dragon (龍).”

A sword strike that changed its trajectory every moment, as if drawing a dragon’s swimming trajectory, struck him.

    “Hoo…”

And Heron didn’t have the intelligence to figure out its orbit either.

That’s why Heron also chose the simplest method.

He decided to swing his spear without following the path with his eyes and just go where his heart leads him. He thought that it was so damn fast that he couldn’t even follow it with his eyes and that he could just bounce it off.

His thoughts worked out well and he was able to successfully block the Demon King’s sword strike. Of course, his wrist ended up being bent in a strange direction as a result, but if he couldn’t even endure that much pain, he wasn’t worthy of being called a knight.

“You’re so ignorant. I must have taught you many times that if you keep fighting like that, you’ll end up dying.”

“…… Why would a man who lost his wife have any regrets about his body?”

“Yeah. It must be miserable. I didn’t know that I had to become stronger the more it was like that.”

The Demon King regained his composure and tensed the muscles in his entire body.

    “Oh, okay.”

The Demon King swung his sword with all his might and strength, with a smile that seemed to indicate that he could not control his strength.

    “Strong sword – tiger.”

A tyrannical strike that seemed to tear everything apart and shatter it flew towards Raoul.

Raoul, too, had no choice but to offset the power of the Dragon King by imbuing his staff with the strongest resonance he could muster.

The ground shook as if an earthquake had occurred, but the Demon King was not shaken at all. He simply observed Raoul calmly taking deep breaths and accepting the blow, without launching any additional attacks.

After a strong impact that cracked Raoul’s bones passed through, the Demon King began to laugh and clap his hands.

“You are truly amazing. In my hometown, there are only a few strong people like you in an era. You could certainly have dominated the era. But it is a pity. You are bound by the framework of the empire. Because you are bound by that framework, you are destined to wait for my sword.”

“You just need to put the sword away.”

“Unfortunately, that would be impossible. I am not generous enough to forgive my wife’s enemy.”

“Then I have no choice but to kill you. You may have gotten stronger, but you’re not so strong that you can’t be killed.”

Actually, it was tough so far, but I was able to withstand the attacks several times. It seemed like I could block them enough. If I had Raoul, Camilla, the Emperor, the Empress, and Heron, it seemed like killing them would be possible.

    It seemed so.

    “Indeed.”

The Demon King looked at Raoul and his party without losing his smile.

“Are you saying you are confident? Then I can give it my all without hesitation.”

    “What…”

“There are still four sums left.”

The Demon King pulled out a second sword from his waist.

The sword that gave off such an ominous aura that it made my body tremble had been extended into two.

    “6 sum.”

The Demon King raised his two swords high.

“Heavy sword – Strange bird with twin wings.”

Raoul, seeing that sight, swore at the present situation, not the past, for the first time.

    “… This sucks.”
