Chapter Index

I started to concentrate on what Victor was saying.

A gaze that follows Victor’s quickly moving hands.

It was a speed so fast that it left afterimages, but if I concentrated with all my mind, I could keep up without any problems.

    “What is the answer?”

    Victor’s hand stops.

I watched the blue current slowly dissipate from his hand, and confidently pointed to one side and said.

    “Here!”

    “Correct answer.”

Victor handed me a candy for answering the question correctly.

    It was grape-flavored candy.

I immediately unwrapped the candy and put it in my mouth.

The fragrant grape scent spread strongly, delighting my mouth.

He nodded, rubbing his cheeks with his hands, at the smile that blossomed while he was smiling.

    “Add more!”

I said, looking at the large bag of candy Victor was holding.

There was still a lot of candy left.

And so the training began again.

The cycle of getting it right and getting it wrong is repeated.

The speed that kept getting faster and faster started to tire my eyes.

I rubbed my heavy eyes and made a sad face.

    “Isn’t that too fast?”

    “I can follow along well.”

    Victor said confidently.

I don’t know what he saw in me that made him think that way.

I stared blankly at the candy disappearing into Victor’s mouth with a sad face.

I can hear the crunching sound of a giant mouth swallowing the candy in one gulp.

    “That’s too much.”

    “Take a break.”

I let out a long sigh at Victor’s words.

My eyes were so sore that I couldn’t concentrate any longer, but I was given a break at an appropriate time.

    Ugh, ugh.

Victor, who had been chewing on candy, sat down on the soft mat and looked at the people training.

I watched his expression, then slowly walked over and sat down next to him.

My attempt to sneakily reach out and steal a piece of candy was blocked in a spectacular way.

“Did you think I wouldn’t see it?”

Victor said this and lifted the bag of candy in a spiteful manner.

It was a high place that I couldn’t reach with my small stature.

My whole body is shaking and trembling.

I, who had been grumbling to myself, turned my head away.

    I’m not eating.

    “Jeff.”

    “Huh?”

Victor continued to chew on the candy as he spoke to me.

One, two, the candies kept going into the crusher called Victor.

“When I say focus, I mean concentrate your abilities in one place.”

    “Huh?”

Concentrate your abilities in one place?

Victor said that and then stood up.

“I need to go to the bathroom.”

Victor disappeared towards the bathroom with slightly quick steps.

It was clear that Victor had given me a hint now.

    Concentration of power.

“All your skills in one place…”

I started using my powers as Victor said.

The blue electric field spreading across the palm begins to get smaller.

It was cute like a puppy, crackling and emitting light.

I thought about it as I touched the current with both hands and made various shapes.

It probably isn’t meant to be used normally.

The reason for this training is also not to learn how to apply ordinary abilities.

    What I need.

Body vision that allows you to control high speeds.

    And the reaction speed.

I spread the current that was spread across my hands throughout my body.

A blue light begins to surround your entire body.

Blue currents surge and crackle through my hands and arms.

White hair begins to rise in waves.

The electric currents that spread throughout the body begin to move at a speed faster than the speed at which the brain can issue commands.

I stood up from my seat and threw my fist into the air.

Shake shake – it wasn’t a sound coming from the mouth, but the sound of a fist tearing through the air.

    stylish.

But I couldn’t pass Victor’s training using these methods.

I pulled the current that was spreading throughout my body up to my heart.

This method wouldn’t have been necessary if it had been the Jeff Origin state that was used with Rain, but not now.

Electricity begins to pool around the heart, creating a circular circle.

A circular sphere made to protect the heart rotates slightly.

Artificially recreate the feeling of that time.

I let out a small breath and stimulated my heart.

    Phagec!

    ***

    Jeff~

    Jeff~

    A voice heard faintly.

    It was a familiar voice.

    “Jeff~”

    “Yeah…”

I got up from my seat at the touch of a hand gently shaking my shoulder.

The blanket covering my body slowly falls down, bringing in cold air.

    “Shine?”

    “Jeff.”

Shine was sitting next to the bed.

I sniffed at the faint smell.

The sensations of the body becoming clearer and clearer.

The nose recognized the source of the smell.

    The smell of medicine?

    “You’re awake.”

    White space.

    It was Rabin’s hospital room.

Why on earth am I here?

As I was lost in thought with my mouth open, Shine handed me a small note.

    “Victor gave this to me.”

    “Victor…?”

I carefully handed over the note.

A note that makes a rustling noise in the palm of a small hand.

It was a careless note, as if it had been carelessly torn from a small notebook.

I immediately checked the contents of the note.

    [idiot.]

    “What does it say?”

    “They call me an idiot.”

    “Victor?”

    “Yeah.”

    I nodded absentmindedly.

    My memory was hazy.

I couldn’t remember what I was doing until just now.

The last scene I remember was when Victor was munching on my candy.

Shine snatched the piece of paper from me.

As the smile on Shine’s face faded, Lavigne handed me some vitamins.

“I heard you collapsed while training. If you’re having a hard time, you can come and rest sometimes.”

I nodded and poured the vitamins into my mouth.

    “Ugh…”

A feast of sour flavors hit my mouth.

Through the furrowed gazes, I saw Shine rise from her seat.

I reached out and grabbed Shine’s hand.

    “Shine.”

    “Yeah.”

    “Where?”

    “To Victor.”

    “Why?”

“To let you know who’s an idiot.”

I frowned and searched my memory.

    The memory was becoming clearer.

“No. No. Victor did nothing wrong.”

    I nodded and said.

    My memory came back perfectly.

It was me who was stupid.

I was wrong to think that if I stimulated my heart and made it beat faster, every scene would seem slow like that.

    “I was an idiot.”

I said with a small sigh.

    “Is Jeff an idiot?”

    “Yeah…”

    I was a fool, a idiot.

What would happen if an ordinary heart were suddenly shocked by a strong shock?

The conditions were different from Jeff Origin’s state.

I recall the feeling at that time.

A lightning bolt so large it felt like electricity was flowing instead of blood, engulfing my entire body.

No, for that moment, I was lightning itself.

“How long have I been lying down?”

    “Two hours?”

“Oh… Then what about training today?”

“Victor said he didn’t have to come today.”

    I sighed, clutching my head.

    “You can do better tomorrow.”

Shine comforted me by patting my head.

After leaving the sickroom with Shine, I went straight back to my room.

In the room, Rain was sitting alone, drawing a picture.

    “Jeff! Shine!”

She was sitting on the floor, but she ran towards us and expressed her joy.

    “Did you get good training?”

Instead of answering Rain’s question, I gave an awkward laugh.

    “Did Victor do something bad?”

    “No. Victor was kind.”

    “Kind? Victor?”

Lane crossed his arms and turned his head, looking suspicious of my answer.

    “You’re being fooled.”

    “Are you being fooled?”

“Victor is not friendly at all.”

    “Really?”

The Victor I met and the Victor Rain met seemed like different people.

I sighed and walked towards the refrigerator.

I wanted to drink some cold cola and eat some delicious chocolate.

    “Oh Jeff.”

    “Huh?”

“Amy is going to cut down on snacks now.”

The shocking news I heard the moment I opened the refrigerator.

As I blinked in surprise, Rain added:

“You said you’d only feed me healthy food?”

I looked inside the refrigerator anxiously.

The refrigerator that used to be full of candy and chocolate was replaced with all sorts of weeds.

    “Gasp.”

    I swallowed my breath.

The shock I received was so great that I could no longer stand.

My legs gave out and I just sat down.

    “Cola…?”

I slowly moved my gaze to the place where the cola was always kept.

    There was no cola there.

Instead, there was just a plastic bottle filled with some strange liquid that looked like green juice.

Only now I could fully understand what Victor was saying.

The candies he was holding were my snacks for the day.

I didn’t think much of it.

When I returned to my room, there were so many delicious things to eat that I didn’t need to choke on candy.

    I thought so.

But what Victor said was true.

If this very situation isn’t a dream, then the only snack I’m allowed is the candy I can get from training with Victor.

    “No!”

I jumped up from my seat and ran to Shine.

    “Shine! What about credit card?”

    “Amy took it.”

    Amy was thorough.

He completely took away all my sweet treats.

There was nothing I could do because I was small, weak and frail.

I sighed and walked towards the refrigerator.

The refrigerator wasn’t just full of vegetables.

There existed a sweet fruit like an apple.

    That was the only consolation.

I held a bright red apple in my hand and put it in my mouth.

Ang ang – I bit into the apple with anger.

Sweet juice flowed out between the crunchy texture.

    It was delicious.

I thought while eating an apple.

What were the reasons for the failure of today’s training?

Victor gave me a good hint.

    I just misinterpreted it.

    “Jeff. Do you like apples?”

    “Yeah.”

Shine showed interest in the apples I was eating.

I handed the half-eaten apple to Shine.

Shine stuck out her tongue and licked the apple, revealing its flesh.

A small tongue moves as if carefully evaluating an apple it is tasting for the first time.

I couldn’t take my eyes off that bright red tongue as it moved.

“I’ll give it back to you.”

Shine, who was licking the apple, took a bite of the flesh and then handed the apple back to me.

She didn’t seem to like the apple.

    “Ugh…”

I received the apple with both hands.

Shine stared at me with a smile as if telling me to hurry up and eat the apple.

I smiled awkwardly at Shine’s burdensome gaze, and eventually put the apple in my mouth.

    Crunchy-

The moist, lukewarm juice of the apple flowed into my mouth.
