I don’t mean to criticize Sarah, but for someone like me who prides myself on having fairly normal values, I honestly found this incident unpleasant.
Even though they were enemies, I didn’t feel satisfied even though they showed me this.
Even if he is a sinner who helped ruin this world, his feelings remain unchanged.
Elise and her group, who interfered with my Pokedex work, committed a sin worthy of death a thousand times over, but Lina didn’t seem to be one of her group.
“… Can you change this back to the original?”
“I can’t. It’s not a curse, it’s a soul transformation, so it won’t go back to its original form.”
Of course, if you push the technology of manipulating souls to the limit, you may one day be able to return to a form that is as similar as possible to your original form.
I guess we’ll never see Sera go back again, since she probably won’t waste her time on something like that.
While I was thinking about that, I observed the strange creature that I could call Lina for a while.
As if she recognized me, Lina’s pupils began to dilate and she began to shed muddy tears.
I know it’s rude, but the sight of her tears turning red was so unpleasant that I couldn’t help but let go.
A Rubik’s Cube that trembles and wiggles as if in pain after falling to the floor.
He struggled as if he wanted to run away, but since he had no arms or legs, it seemed like he couldn’t do as he wished.
Is it mercy to kill me now?
It’s not that I don’t have any questions, but I can guess what happened during the event.
The trigger is unknown, but if certain conditions are met, a party member from a thousand years ago will be resurrected.
After that, he would come into contact with the original heroines and steal their bodies, or hold their hands and lend them his body.
I don’t know exactly what happened after that, but they tried to get their hands on me.
I don’t know the details, but now that we’ve subdued the entire warrior party, there’s no need to worry even if there’s someone behind them.
Even if something else comes next time, by then we will have leveled up to 100 or more.
“… There’s no point in taking him hostage, so it would be merciful to just kill him here――.”
The moment I grabbed the Rubik’s Cube with the intention of crushing it to death, the word hostage suddenly made me think of Hanji, who would come to visit me someday.
In Elise’s case, wouldn’t the spirit of the party member who hit Hanji on the back of his head a thousand years ago be with Ian?
If we hand this guy over, wouldn’t Hanji’s anger be able to be diverted elsewhere for a moment?
‘… If they get tired of being harassed, they might take their anger out on us, but it’ll at least buy them some time.’
I have no intention of causing any more pain here.
But we had no time to hesitate when faced with the greatest threat of all: Hanji.
“I guess I should keep this alive for a while and not kill it.”
“Keep me alive?”
“It’s not my intention, but I think I need to keep it alive for a while. So, roughly put it in your inventory… .”
Does this go into your inventory?
I tried putting it in for testing, but it bounced off instead of going in. Even though it looks like this, it seems to be treated as a living thing and not put in the inventory.
Since I kept shedding tears when I held it, I had no choice but to hand it over to Sarah.
Lina, who fell into Sarah’s hands, became as quiet as a child who had met a scary adult.
Well, it’s not that I don’t understand that feeling.
I’m a little scared of Lina too.
“… But is that fox lady alive?”
“He must have avoided it on his own. He must be alive because he has transfer magic.”
When things were somewhat settled, we headed to the palace first to find where Prime Minister Lang would be.
The royal castle has a powerful barrier magic that can easily ignore most siege magic, so if you’re evacuating, you’ll probably try to escape to the royal castle first.
As expected, Lang was in his office, next to him was the princess he had met some time ago and nobles dressed in expensive clothes.
I remember seeing some of their faces, but the rest were new to me.
Considering that this is a royal palace, the nobles you meet for the first time are probably royalty.
“I’m back.”
When I said that calmly, Lang smiled with a satisfied smile as if showing off to everyone around him.
“As expected, you’re safe. Since Felt-kun came here, I guess we can assume everything went smoothly?”
Lang was pretending to be calm, but there was anxiety hidden in her voice that she couldn’t hide.
Even for someone like Lang, who has been through a lot, the dungeon crash must have been quite a difficult situation.
At the worried looks from Lang and the royal family, I nodded and motioned for Lina to hide secretly.
Only then did Lang and the royal family smile in relief and exchange words of encouragement for each other’s hardships.
I ignored the voices praising us and approached Lang, who also seemed relieved and relaxed, and spoke.
“Is it all over now?”
“Yes, it’s all over!! Now it’s our time!!”
“Yeah… .”
It’s over.
every.
When you feel a strange sense of discomfort at those words for some reason.
[Ending: Peaceful? World]
[Would you like to start the 3rd round? YES/NO]
In the third round, the following elements are inherited:
Acquired occupation (EXP is not inherited)
Demon dictionary.
Plant Dictionary.
Magic dictionary.
Item dictionary.
Map information.
Something I shouldn’t have seen caught my eye.
*****
One spring day when the sky was unusually high.
The height of the sky doesn’t change depending on the weather, but when I was hit by a refreshing breeze, I somehow had the illusion that the sky was higher.
I came down from the sky and landed lightly on the street. I looked around the street, smiling briefly at the feeling of the wind sweeping through my hair.
It’s been a full 10 years since that dungeon crash.
… In fact, not that much time has passed, only about three years have passed.
The capital city, which I visited after a long time, was full of energy, and the reason was not because Lang had rebuilt the capital city in just three years after taking power and implementing good government policies.
Since the capital city had almost all of its infrastructure destroyed, it was cheaper to move it than to rebuild it, so the capital city was moved elsewhere.
Of course, since the capital was a place of historical value, there were many voices of opposition among the royal family, but what good would it do if a scarecrow barked?
Even if the dogs bark, the train goes on.
Even though the royal family barked, the fox went away.
There were quite a few casualties during the migration process, but these were lives that would have died even if they had remained in the capital.
Even if he had insisted on rebuilding the capital, he would not have been able to avoid the same fate.
“… It’s peaceful.”
If you compare the current Wangdo with the old Wangdo, there is no need to hesitate and say that this is a better place to live.
At least in this city, people don’t starve in groups of hundreds, and there are no ridiculous lands like garbage dumps.
But if you ask me if this city is truly a peaceful place, I honestly don’t know.
Because… .
“Get out of the way!!”
It was scary to think about, but one of the culprits suddenly started shouting in the middle of the street.
The owner of the voice appeared to be a young man in his early 20s, but he was a fox with familiar red hair.
Since the longevity species ages slowly, their apparent age does not necessarily match their actual age, but judging by their expression, they are likely on the younger side.
As the young man shouted, the pedestrians began to part as if Moses had parted the sea, and they all gave way.
The young woman walked along the newly discovered road with a proud expression, glancing around from the corner of her eyes.
As I was walking down the street, a young man suddenly made eye contact with me. He looked startled as if he had seen a ghost and began to hurry his steps.
‘… But still, I guess you’re not a total idiot since you recognize my face.’
A year ago, a new ruling class was born in this country.
The fox-stalkers, who were Lang’s blood relatives, were appointed as nobles, and their power was comparable to or even greater than that of the nobles of the former warrior faction.
Whether it was because they noticed my reaction or because they had no interest in such vulgar behavior to begin with, they did not act as viciously as those guys, but their power was comparable to theirs.
Their presence made me understand why the name of this ending is Peaceful World.
At first glance, it seemed like a peaceful world, but the commoners were still exploited by the noble class, and in the provinces, there were still trashy nobles who carried out crazy acts.
Of course, the newly crowned queen was warned not to do such a foolish thing, but the royal power did not extend to the entire kingdom.
While I was thinking about this and that, I arrived at the palace.
The soldiers guarding the gate had already become familiar with my face for a long time, so I went in without any special procedures.
Every time I come to the palace, I feel that I have reached a high place when I see the soldiers bowing down in front of me.
As I was walking down the hallway, I saw a shadow waving from afar. As I approached, Lang, who had heard the news and had come out to greet me, greeted me happily.
“It’s been a while, Felt-kun. Hasn’t it been a year since we last met?”
“Probably around that much.”
Today is the first Arbor Day, so I went out on foot to the royal road.
We walked into the indoor garden and stopped under a tree and had several conversations.
Most of the conversation was about pre-meal stuff, but in the middle of it, she suddenly asked me a question.
“… Is there anything that is inconvenient?”
“Huh?”
“It was the same before, but your expression didn’t look so good… .”
“Oh, that’s not it.”
… How should I express this?
I don’t remember fighting for the rights of the commoners, but I feel uneasy when I see the commoners bowing down to the new ruling class despite their improved living conditions.
I think that if I had paid just a little more attention to them and been a little more proactive, something might have changed.
When I told him honestly what I meant, Lang listened quietly and nodded.
“Well, I guess so. With the power of the Felt Army, he could do anything.”
“… Right.”
“But that doesn’t mean Felt-kun is responsible for anything. Felt-kun is not some kind of savior from the Bible and has no obligation to save everyone. Rather, if there are people who criticize Felt-kun for doing nothing when things have gotten better, isn’t that wrong?”
“… … .”
“Felt-kun wasn’t a hero, but he wasn’t a villain either. It’s a bit odd to say that, but he was just a commoner.”
“Petit bourgeois?”
I remember contributing to the creation of this world by killing thousands of people.
Isn’t it a bit strange to call someone like that a petit bourgeois?
I had that thought for a moment, but thinking back, I think I’ve always refused to take responsibility and just gone with the flow rather than taking the initiative in something.
No, did I just do whatever I wanted?
Since some time ago, I have been viewing this world as half a game.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to survive in a world where even this devil would spit and turn away.
I desperately treated the world as a game and avoided all the absurdities happening before my eyes, thinking they were someone else’s business.
This is the result of not coming forward and doing something proactively, and leaving the flow of the world to someone else.
From that perspective, I was never able to escape being a petit bourgeois.
“… It’s late to say this, but the world sucks.”
“But it’s better than before, so it might be even better in a hundred years.”
“Well… . It might be hard for this ruler since he lives a long time.”
“It’s okay because they have few children. They become more polite as they get older, so in a hundred years, they might become a kind ruler to humans.”
“What is a loving ruler, not even SM?”
“Oh my god, didn’t you know? Feudalism is a SM play between the state and the people.”
After exchanging such banter and finishing the boring meal, I left the palace.
Even now, in a corner of my vision, a message window pops up asking if I want to start the third round.
After a moment of thought, my hand ended up pointing at N, not Y.
I may regret this decision someday, but one regression was enough.
“… The weather is nice.”
The sky is high.
Was the sky this high on the day Hanji came?
I walked toward my new hometown, pushing the guest who might come someday to the back of my memory.
Teresina says it’s time to create a successor.
Actually, I was planning to make it after I finished the Hanji thing, but I don’t think either of us would be able to hold out until then.
I closed my eyes tightly, thinking about the fragrant scent of my future children who will be born one day.
*****
In a world that goes round and round, only two beings do not forget themselves and remember the world before they went around.
One is the being that rewound the wheel of time.
The other is a true transcendent being, outside of time.
These beings, commonly called gods, cannot be harmed by any power and their spirit never fades, and they live forever in this infinite universe.
There was a transcendent being here now.
After wandering for many years in search of her beloved child who had disappeared somewhere in this vast world, she was finally able to reunite with her own child.
When Hanji brought the world to its end, the goddess realized that the demon who had considered Hanji a thorn in her side during her lifetime had kidnapped Hanji’s soul.
Now that we know where Hanji’s soul is hidden, getting it back is a simple task.
As it so happened, the singularity of this world turned the wheel of time, so she took advantage of it and went back even further in time, to the moment when Hanji met her death.
And just before the devil’s hand could touch Hanji’s soul, he retrieved Hanji’s soul one step ahead.
[…who is this?]
[Rest, child.]
It took Hanji a long time to realize that the being holding her in her arms was a goddess, having just recently faced death.
Not long after, when Hanji finally realized what kind of being she was, she burst into tears like a child and ran into her arms.
In this way, Hanji’s soul returned to where it should have been without going to the evil place called the Reminiscence Room.
He will spend a long time in the arms of the goddess, venting his anger.
Someday, when I overcome all my sorrow and hurt, I will find true happiness.
At least the land he will step on again will not be that cursed world.
BONUS: Final Review
Hello… . This is Gaejjipjjot.
I think there will be mixed opinions about the ending.
When I first set out to write this novel, I wanted to write a protagonist who didn’t care that he was possessed by an NTR novel, not just in words.
The main character, Felt, is neither particularly good nor particularly evil.
If I had to say, I’m just an ordinary citizen, just like you and I.
I wanted to write a novel where, after going through several near-death experiences, the common people are saying that they are not, but they think of this world as a game, while the people next to them are struggling for whom this world is reality.
The world became a place where one could breathe a little easier, without Felt taking the initiative in anything.
No one knows whether things will get better or worse in the future.
Actually, I thought about putting Hanji Raid in at the end, but I thought it would be too cruel to throw him into the grave once again after he had suffered enough.
Anyway, after dragging on and on, the novel ends here.
I would like to end here by expressing my sincere gratitude to the readers who have stayed with me until the end of this poorly written work.
So so sad.
PS.
He is the main character of the next novel. He will probably return around August or September.
