by fnovelpia“I can’t believe they went up to the upper city without us in the meantime.”
Jon’s personal connections led them to this corporate VIP room.
It was a place that offered excessive treatment for mere mercenaries from the lower city, but Luna asked her team members how they were.
Fortunately, Roden Global Enterprise’s interest seemed to be solely on the shapeshifter and Jon, whom she cherished and protected. The man in front of her, seen through a hologram, wore sunglasses and fidgeted, eager to touch a car she hadn’t seen before. He was not just fine; he was so well it was almost sigh-inducing.
“Same here. I can’t believe you got another new car in the meantime… JQ, didn’t you tell me you were tight on money lately?”
“Hahaha! I have no idea what you’re talking about…”
When confronted about the new supercar, which clearly looked to be over 300,000 credits, Luna sighed at his persistent, ridiculous denial, “I don’t know anything about it.”
Indeed, it was unbecoming for her, as a commander, to meddle in an adult’s private life, especially since he wasn’t a child.
“Anyway, until this is resolved, don’t do anything to draw attention to yourselves. Lie low. We’re currently under protection, but a megacorp like Roden will surely try something.”
“So you’re saying we’re the weak point right now? Well… don’t worry too much! Raleigh’s here!”
“That’s true, but…”
There was something Jon used to shout when Raleigh moved, what was it again?
Right. Was it “Tactical Raleigh Toss”?
It was a ridiculous phrase, but it applied to Raleigh.
Because they had seized a child, who was created as a bio-weapon by a megacorp, and were living with her.
Even my Jon, who displays bizarre and astonishing performance by acquiring unbelievable items and embedding them all over his body, allowing him to smash hard chrome users with his fists, falls far short in terms of killing ability.
Even so, it’s not enough to transcend and tear apart a megacorp on his own, but if the stage is set, wouldn’t he be able to annihilate a company-sized group of corporate soldiers by himself?
“Certainly, with Raleigh, it would be enough to escape even if those guys attacked. Contact Blake too, and tell him to skip this cosplay parade.”
“I don’t want to get beaten up by that bald guy…”
“Do you want to get hit by me when you get back?”
“Of course, I have to listen to the boss. Hmm.”
JQ, once again reminded that violence is faster than any other means of communication, sweat trickling down his face as he adjusted his sunglasses, reported a few recent incidents in the lower city, and then ended the call.
With a click, the device that had vividly displayed his hologram quietly ceased operation, and the room felt somewhat empty.
“Haa… I’m tired.”
Luna sank into the sofa.
The plush sofa’s backrest, upholstered in natural leather and filled with high-grade cushioning, cradled Luna’s back, and its built-in correction system created a soft, comfortable, ergonomically curved posture.
She exhaled a deep sigh, letting out her fatigue, but it wasn’t physical exhaustion.
The facilities provided were incomparable to the most expensive hotels in the lower city, and even in the upper city, they were a place focused on rest, designed for efficient fatigue recovery.
However, this was mental fatigue.
Roden Global Enterprise, a megacorp that holds nearly half of the world’s broadcasting market share, had clearly recognized them and was approaching them with hostility.
If Luna hadn’t been wary of the friendships she had built with corporations while leading the mercenary group Rune’s Bar, and the secretly employed shapeshifter, by now they would all be wanted targets with nowhere to set foot in Eclipse Point.
No, considering the scale of a megacorp, it could be the same anywhere in the world.
“Should I go see *him*…”
At times like this, he was the one who came to mind.
Her best friend for over ten years, and someone she held various feelings for.
What would he be doing now, he who didn’t even care when she arbitrarily changed his name for ten years straight?
Even so, would he be sweating profusely and in trouble, perhaps being chased by a megacorp?
Suddenly, a slight desire to see him like that popped into her head, and Luna immediately left the room, walking quickly down the corridor towards the room where he was staying.
Then, an individual approached from the opposite direction, and both Luna and that person recognized each other and paused.
Kathleen Rossmore, the owner of this corp with a gentle impression and flowing, wavy blonde hair, and currently their protector.
Luna was wary of her, who seemed to subtly flaunt her closeness with Dojun, but bowed her head first out of courtesy.
“Good morning, Chairwoman Rossmore.”
“Oh, there’s no need for such a formal title. You can just call me Kathleen, Luna-ssi.”
“Understood, Kathleen-ssi.”
Kathleen Rossmore, the owner of Rossmore Classic Vultures, which was restructured from Extreme Military and relisted.
Her correction of the title, as if to build rapport, was clearly a gesture of goodwill, but the look in her eyes somehow felt unsettling.
An uncomfortably comparative gaze, as if she was sizing Luna up against something.
‘Her gaze seems to be fixed downward…’
Judging the location, it was her chest. Was something on it?
She furtively glanced down, but the large ‘hills’ blocked more than half of her vision, preventing her from seeing if anything was there.
About twenty seconds passed after that awkward encounter.
It was Kathleen who moved first.
“Are you heading to Jon-ssi’s room?”
“…Yes.”
At Kathleen’s nod, as if she had expected it, Luna’s lips twisted for a moment, but she quickly covered it with an expressionless face before anyone could notice.
“In that case, once your moving reunion is over, could you ask Jon-ssi to come to the CEO’s office?”
A CEO’s summons.
For an ordinary person, it would be a binary choice between their life flourishing or plummeting into ruin. But at least for *him*, it seemed unlikely within Rossmore Classic Vultures, so Luna nodded without hesitation.
“By the way, a moving reunion, you say?”
“Yes. Those cute fox young ladies just woke up. I happened to be coming from meeting them.”
“…”
The leaders of that playful organization called K.I.T.S.U.N.E in Kabukicho?
At the news that the white and black-furred twins, who were more like mascots than leaders, had woken up, Luna couldn’t help but let her lips twist again.
“Luna-ssi? Is something wrong? If you’re not feeling well, I can call the corporate medical team for you.”
“Ah, it’s nothing. I’m just a little… curious about what kind of reunion they might be having…”
Surely… no? Would he do that to someone who just woke up from near death? Oh, come on… she wanted to say, but Luna knew how outrageous Dojun’s libido was.
A playboy who wouldn’t be satisfied until he touched every woman within reach.
Even if her own fault in accommodating him was a spoonful… just a tiny bit! she could somehow picture the scene she would find when she arrived at the room.
Luna felt her heart pound and her brain turn fuzzy. She parted ways with Kathleen and quickened her pace, arriving at Dojun’s suite on the opposite side of the skyscraper.
The guard stationed outside the suite bowed his head and stepped aside upon recognizing Luna.
A tightly closed door.
“Phew…”
*There have only been a few doors in my life I’ve been this reluctant to open…* Luna thought to herself, then let out a deep sigh as her imagination ran wild with the scene that awaited her inside.
“…I’m coming in.”
With her vocal declaration of entry, optical recognition completed, the lock immediately disengaged, and the doors slid sideways, disappearing into the walls.
As if it had been waiting, a lewd scent wafted out from within, tickling her nose. Luna couldn’t hide the “Of course, that’s what I expected…” look on her face as she surveyed the room.
The room was set to be dim, casting a shadowy ambiance, but the projected image of countless stars forming the Milky Way on the ceiling and walls made the room appear like a spot in a desolate wilderness, offering a dreamlike vista.
The vividness provided by the advanced 4D planetarium, created with optical projection technology and various internal management systems, was astounding.
A slightly dry and cool breeze from the ventilation system, the scent of earth, the faintly shining starlight, and the moon looking down.
It was a dreamlike scene anyone would want to experience at least once, but at its center…
“-This is the eighth time already… Ahhhh!♥”
“-Okay, I was wrong♥ Let me rest…!”
The fervent sex of three people, heating up the room as if the overworked ventilation system—which was supposed to create an outdoor nighttime atmosphere—mattered not at all, completely shattered the mood.
“Haaaaa… I knew this would happen.”
Luna covered her face.
“…Keep up the good work.”
The security guard, sensing Luna’s mood, forgot his duties and hastily retreated.
