Chapter Index

I drank some milk and headed to the restaurant.

As I walked, I touched the red mark that had risen on my cheek.

It didn’t hurt, but I was worried for no reason.

“Jeff. If you keep touching it, it’ll get worse.”

    “Yes.”

I put my hand down at Amy’s words.

If I continued to touch it as she said, the red mark seemed like it would get bigger.

    “Shine didn’t bite?”

    “Yeah.”

    I looked around Shine’s face.

She must have fallen asleep next to me, but unlike me, she didn’t get bitten by bugs.

As I was crying, Shine smiled slightly and grabbed my hand.

“Did you get bitten on the neck too?”

    “Yeah.”

I pulled down the neck of Shine’s clothes and checked the red mark.

My skin was glowing because of the ointment Amy applied.

Shine stared at my neck and smiled faintly.

    “Why are you laughing?”

    Shine didn’t answer my question.

As Shine moved closer than usual, I walked with unsteady steps for a while.

At the end of the hallway, I could spot the movement of a yellow chick.

    Rain walking briskly alone.

Her yellow hair, tied up behind her head, swayed like a tail.

    I waved at Lane.

She had been walking slowly, but when she noticed my gesture, her eyes opened wide and she immediately ran towards me.

    “Jeff! Shine! Amy!”

Rain runs towards me, waving his hand with a happy face.

I also ran to Rain with a happy smile.

No, that’s what I was trying to do.

If only it weren’t for Amy.

Amy, who had been walking slowly, spotted Lane and snatched him away like an eagle that had found its prey.

Rain blinks slowly with a surprised face.

Rain, who was held by Amy’s hand and dangling, slowly shook her limbs.

    “Amy?”

    “Comic book.”

Lane started to hiccup at the words that quietly fell from Amy’s mouth.

Hee-hee, hee-hee – At the quiet sound coming from her small mouth, she covered her mouth with her hand.

“Guys. Excuse me, but can you go to the restaurant first? I have something to do with Rain.”

    I held Shine’s hand tightly.

Shine also gained strength in her hands.

She and I nodded at the same time.

“Don’t worry, Victor will help you.”

With that, Amy started walking away, rocking Lane back and forth.

    Amy’s back slowly moving away.

Tears well up in Rain’s eyes as he holds her in his hand.

He shakes his head desperately and reaches out his hand towards us.

Shine and I headed into the restaurant, ignoring Rain’s last words.

Inside the restaurant, Victor was sitting just as Amy had said.

Shine and I walked over to the table where Victor was sitting.

    “Hello!”

    “Hello.”

At Shine and I’s greeting, Victor’s gaze drops down.

Victor is eating fried rice just like yesterday.

    “Yeah. Hi.”

I went straight to the seat opposite Victor and sat down.

Victor looked around us as we sat at the table.

I immediately realized what that action meant and said to Victor.

“Amy will be here in a bit.”

Victor blinked as if surprised by my words, then nodded slightly.

“I didn’t look for it specifically.”

Victor said that and stuffed his mouth full of fried rice.

My mouth watered at the sight.

    “Victor please help me.”

    “What?”

“Shine and I are talking about our morning order.”

    “Me?”

“Amy asked Victor to help her.”

Victor, who had been wiggling one eyebrow as if he didn’t want to, immediately stood up from his seat at my continued words.

He jumped up and asked us.

“What do you want to eat?”

    “I want tonkatsu.”

    “Same thing as Jeff.”

Victor went straight to the kiosk to order food.

I muttered quietly as I watched Victor’s back while he was ordering food.

“Victor seems to really like Amy.”

“Yeah. I can tell because we’re similar.”

I kept my mouth shut at Shine’s words.

    “That. Shine.”

    “Huh?”

    “Me. Am I good?”

“Yeah. I like Jeff the best.”

    Shine’s answer without hesitation.

Her white eyes, which clearly show her emotions, look at me.

    I swallowed dry saliva.

“Isn’t that what you like as a family?”

Shine tilted her head at my question.

She even closed her eyes and crossed her arms as if she was in deep thought.

I sighed in relief as I looked at Shine.

She was still unsure of her feelings.

    Shine said.

Victor’s feelings for Amy are similar to his feelings for me.

    I’m also becoming similar.

    “Is there anything else?”

Shine, who had her eyes closed, asked me a question.

    I nodded.

    “Yeah.”

“Can’t you like something else besides family?”

    I like shine too.

I felt affection towards my family.

Because she is the most precious thing to me and I can’t live without her.

I’m sure Shine is thinking the same thing as me.

    Because she is like me.

So, the excitement I feel now was clearly my illusion.

This is an emotion that should not be harbored.

    I thought so.

“Shine. You shouldn’t do that with family.”

    “Why?”

I kept my mouth shut at Shine’s curious question.

I had no idea where to start explaining.

“Because that’s how it has to be.”

    “I don’t like it.”

    “Shine.”

    “I hate it.”

    “Sha…”

My voice, which was trying to persuade me well, was not completed.

The feeling of it lightly sticking to your lips and then falling off.

    Something soft and moist.

As I approached, the scent of Shine’s body wafted strongly.

As I opened my eyes wide in confusion, Shine smiled playfully.

    “Shut up, Jeff.”

I kept my mouth shut as Shine said.

    “I’ll do what I want.”

    My heart is pounding.

I couldn’t come to my senses because of Shine’s trembling voice.

My eyes were spinning and I felt dizzy.

    “Still. I’ll wait a little.”

    Shine’s voice is heard.

But my dizzy mind couldn’t properly understand what she meant.

I carefully raised my hand and touched the area around my lips.

    “What are you guys doing?”

As we were lowering our heads and touching the area around our mouths, Victor, who was holding a plate, asked us.

    “It’s a secret.”

Shine said as she took her plate.

Victor looked at the two of us with a puzzled look, then pushed the plate towards me.

A hot pork cutlet with steam rising from it appeared before my eyes.

    “Eat.”

    I couldn’t open my mouth.

The moment I opened my mouth, it felt like the sound of my pounding heart would burst out.

Thump thump thump – the sound of my heart beating in my ears is getting louder.

I held the knife with slightly trembling hands.

As my heartbeat began to calm down, I let out a small sigh.

    “Sorry I’m late~”

The moment I stuck the knife into the center of the tonkatsu, Amy arrived late.

Behind her stood Rain, who had a lot of bumps on his face.

    “Hello…”

Rain greets us with a sad face.

She walked slowly and sat down next to me.

    “Rain.”

    Amy called Lane.

At her call, Lane’s small body trembled.

    “Yeah.”

    “Don’t bring that next time.”

“Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I’ll never bring it.”

Lane replied to Amy’s words, stroking her hair.

    “Jeff. Shine.”

    “Huh?”

    “Yeah.”

“You guys shouldn’t do what’s in the comics either. Got it?”

    “Yes…”

    I nodded.

    Shine also nodded and answered.

“Yeah. I won’t do it because Jeff hates it.”

    “Jeff doesn’t like it…?”

    “Yeah.”

To Amy’s question, Shine nodded in response.

“That…you followed the content from the comic book?”

    “Yeah.”

Shine answers as if to ask what the problem is.

Amy put her hand on her face at Shine’s confident answer.

    “Ha…”

Amy’s faint sigh can be heard.

She wiped her dry face and spoke to Shine.

    “Shine.”

    “Yeah.”

“I think I need to have a personal interview later.”

“Do I have to do this?”

“Yeah. You have to do it.”

    “Okay.”

Amy and Lane each ordered their own food.

As the two joined in, the quiet mealtime became a little noisy.

As Amy and Victor talked about work, the conversation progressed with Lane interjecting.

    Shine and I ate quietly.

I tore the body of the tonkatsu into pieces with the rat knife in my hand.

I have been dealing with tonkatsu every day to keep my swordsmanship, which I have honed over time, from rusting.

The meat hidden in the crispy batter is immediately picked up with a fork and put into your mouth.

    it’s good.

After finishing the meal, Victor left first.

It seems like he has no interest in anything other than work.

But even though he clearly had feelings for Amy, for some reason he never expressed his feelings even for a moment.

It was clear that there were circumstances I was unaware of.

    “Amy.”

    “Huh?”

    “Is Victor always like that?”

Amy smiled slightly at my question and patted my head.

    “Yeah. Always been like that.”

Swish swish – The hair that was managed by Amy every day fell out smoothly.

As I closed my eyes to the pleasant touch, Amy continued speaking.

    “Victor is a coward.”

    “Are you a coward?”

    “Yeah.”

    I nodded absentmindedly.

I didn’t notice it until Shine said it, but Amy, the person involved, seemed to know that Victor had feelings for her.

    “When did you know Amy?”

“I don’t know. I just noticed it at some point. I didn’t count the exact dates.”

    “Isn’t it uncomfortable?”

“Uncomfortable? Well, maybe not if Victor musters up the courage, but right now, there’s nothing particularly uncomfortable.”

    “I see…”

    “Then shall we go back?”

    We just left the restaurant.

Since there was no training, I headed straight to my room.

Lane tried to sneak out while keeping an eye on Amy, but it was a no-no.

Lane was dragged into the room by Amy’s hand.

Amy handed Lane a small sign as he was dragged into the room.

What was written inside was as follows:

[I showed the children comic books that had a bad influence on them.]

“I’ve been wearing that around my neck all day.”

Rain nodded with a gloomy face.

    “And shine.”

    “Yeah.”

    “Come here.”

Amy led Shine into the dollhouse.

Amy uses the house she uses to play with her dolls as an interview location.

I picked up a snack and ate it while watching the scene.
