Chapter Index

    That evening.

I asked Amy a quick question when she returned.

It was a question I could bring up since Shine was out taking a shower.

    “Amy.”

    “Huh?”

    “Does Amy have a crush?”

    “Do you like someone?”

    “Yes.”

“Why do you suddenly like someone?”

I bit my lip at Amy’s question.

My gaze was directed towards the tightly closed bathroom.

Amy noticed my gaze and placed her hand on my head as she spoke.

    “Is Shine good?”

    “Huh? That’s not it…”

    “So does Shine like you?”

Amy’s question seemed to pierce through my mind.

As I was flustered and flailed my hands around, not knowing what to do, Amy smiled faintly.

    “Come here. Jeff.”

Amy reached out and hugged my body.

I bowed my head as I was hugged tightly into Amy’s soft and fragrant arms.

    “You are still young.”

    “Yes.”

I wanted to argue with her that she was young, but she was right.

Shine and I are still young.

“Is there something a little different mixed in with the feeling of saying “good”?”

I nodded slightly at Amy’s words.

“Shine is similar to you too?”

    “Shine is a little different.”

“Then, how about burying those feelings a little deeper?”

    “Why?”

“You’re still too young. You might be surprised by the emotions you’re feeling for the first time.”

Amy smiled softly and rubbed my back.

    I nodded absentmindedly.

    She was right.

An emotion I felt for the first time in my life, and the surprise that emotion brought.

The tingling sensation wasn’t such a bad feeling, but what if the feeling I imagined was different from the feeling I was feeling?

It was clear that Shine and I would be deeply hurt.

“If you are still confident in that feeling, why don’t you try to be a little brave?”

    “Courage?”

“Are you asking me this question because you feel scared of the emotions you have?”

    scary?

    I opened my mouth blankly.

    I never thought of that.

I’m saying that I’m feeling scared right now.

I raised my small hands and clutched my chest.

A small voice behind the pounding heart.

I was afraid to figure out what this feeling was, as Amy said.

“But! What if this relationship ends now? I want to be on good terms with Shine, but if this makes things worse!”

“That’s what I said, right? Let’s bury it a little deeper. If you’re still convinced of that feeling, then you can try to be brave.”

At this moment, I was sure.

What I’m saying is that the feelings that Shine and I have are a little different.

    I let out a sigh.

“Please keep it a secret from Shine.”

Instead of answering, Amy patted my head.

As I was spending time in her arms, Shine came out of the bathroom after finishing her shower.

Slightly flushed cheeks and damp hair.

A children’s bathrobe draped over the body.

Her slightly visible skin had a reddish tint to it, making her look even healthier.

    “Come here, Shine.”

    “Yeah.”

Shine approached Amy with a familiar gesture at her call.

“You two. What did you see today?”

Amy, who was drying Shine’s hair, suddenly asked a question.

Shine and I blinked in surprise.

    “Right?”

    “No. I didn’t see anything.”

Shine shook her head, rarely looking embarrassed.

Amy, who had been quietly watching her actions, patted Shine’s head.

“What did you see? What did you see?”

    Amy’s playful question.

I felt a cold sweat running down my back.

    “Rain…Rain brought it.”

Before I could get scolded any more, I took out the comic book Lane had brought and handed it to Amy.

Shine’s gaze, which was watching me hand over the comic book, wavered greatly.

    “You saw this?”

    I nodded.

Amy had a rare look of anger on her face.

Flapping, fluttering. The pages of the comic book were turning in Amy’s hands.

I covered my face with both hands when I saw the picture in the middle of the comic book.

This is because the sight of people tangled together with their fair skin exposed was scandalous.

    “Rain showed you?”

    “Yes.”

    widely!

Amy rolled up the book and slammed her palm hard against it.

It seemed likely that Rain would develop a huge bump on his head tomorrow.

“So that’s why you asked that question?”

    Late that evening.

Amy ended up retrieving all the comic books that Lane had hidden away.

The content was quite interesting, but I had no regrets.

I even felt a little relieved.

“Isn’t it okay to look at this?”

Shine asked Amy, as if she was still attached to the comic book.

“It’s too early for you guys.”

“Then can I see it later?”

Amy gave an awkward laugh at Shine’s question.

“If you want to see it then too.”

Shine smiled brightly and nodded at Amy’s permission.

A room with the lights off.

Me, Shine, and Amy lay in bed as usual.

I wiggled under the covers and found a comfortable position.

If you’re wrapped up in a soft, fragrant blanket, you’ll quickly fall asleep.

    “Jeff.”

    “Huh?”

Shine’s voice flew through my increasingly hazy mind.

I turned my head, rubbing my sleepy eyes.

Shine, who was lying next to me, was looking at me with sparkling eyes.

    “Stay still.”

    “Shine?”

As Shine said that, he crawled towards me.

Her slow, careful movements were intended to avoid waking Amy.

Shine’s breathing was so close that I could hear it right in my ear.

“There’s something I want to try.”

“What do you want to try?”

A voice that flows out like a small whisper.

The voices of the same girls are mixed together.

Shine looked at me like that and then stretched out her hand.

What on earth does she want to do?

I was startled by Shine’s sudden actions and jumped back.

    “Stay still, Jeff.”

    “Poem… I hate it.”

I immediately got under the covers.

Shine reached out and tried to grab my body, but I was faster under the blanket.

I was wiggling around for a while.

Panting for breath, I stuck my head out of the blanket to get some cool air.

A head that just popped out.

As I was taking a deep breath of cool air, I noticed Shine sitting in front of me.

    “Stay still.”

Shine said that and climbed on top of me.

A sudden shift in the center of gravity.

I closed my eyes tightly at the feeling of the rocking bed.

“What are you trying to do…?”

“I saw it in a comic book.”

Shine said that and buried her face in my neck.

As her breath touched my skin, I squirmed in surprise.

But Shine’s arms and legs held my body tightly in place, preventing any movement to a minimum.

    Sniff sniff-

Shine put his nose against my neck and started sniffing.

Shine’s soft lips, lightly brushing against each other, left a moist mark.

    “Are you done now…?”

There was nothing more than that.

Shine repeated that a few more times and then tilted her head.

    “Jeff. Are you feeling better?”

I shook my head at Shine’s question.

I was embarrassed, but I felt neither bad nor good.

Feeling a little anxious, I turned my head away.

    “I want to sleep.”

    “Let me try one more.”

As she said that, Shine began to wriggle over my body.

    “What are you doing…?”

    “I don’t know.”

Shine, who had been wiggling for a while, tilted her head again.

    “I guess this isn’t it.”

After saying that, she came down from my body.

The spot where Shine’s body had been laid was hot.

As I was shivering in the cold wind, Shine covered me with a blanket.

    “Let’s try something different tomorrow.”

“Are you copying a comic book…?”

    “Yeah.”

    “I don’t like that.”

I let out a small sigh at the look in Shine’s eyes as she asked, “Why?”

    Shine is still young.

I was also at an age where I wanted to blindly imitate everything that appeared in comic books.

“You can’t just blindly follow what appears in comic books.”

    “Why?”

“You might get hurt. It’s too dangerous.”

    “But it doesn’t seem dangerous?”

Shine said that and clung to me again.

“If we do it like this, both of us will feel better…”

I was startled by Shine’s movements and covered her face with the blanket.

Startled by the sudden movement, Shine flapped her arms and crawled out from under the blanket.

    “I’ll be fine.”

I looked at Shine’s bewildered eyes and then turned away.

Behind me, I can hear Shine moving carefully.

She brought her pillow closer, lay down next to me, and covered herself with the blanket.

“If Jeff doesn’t like it, I won’t do it.”

    Shine’s voice is heard faintly.

I wiggled my toes under the blanket and pulled the blanket up over my face.

I couldn’t sleep properly that day.

Because the movement of Shine brushing past my ears was heard so clearly.

The skin where her hands touched tingled.

I closed my eyes tightly and sighed.

    ***

Is it because I lost sleep?

I woke up at a slightly different time than usual and dug into my blankets at the sound of the morning announcement.

“Jeff. You have to wake up.”

    “Yes…”

    Amy’s urging.

I got out from under the covers and headed to the bathroom.

I had to do a quick wash and change clothes.

Shine woke up first and sat at the table drinking milk, seemingly having finished getting ready.

Her gaze falls on my face and then falls.

    “Did you sleep well?”

    “Yeah.”

I entered the bathroom to Shine’s greeting and stood on the step in front of the sink.

The moment I rubbed my sleepy eyes and reached for the toothbrush, I could see a red mark rising on my cheek.

Did you get bitten by a bug?

I touched the red mark with my finger, but it didn’t tickle or hurt.

But the area of the red mark was strangely large.

After finishing washing my face, I went straight to Amy.

    “Amy.”

    “Huh?”

“I think I got bitten by a bug.”

I said, pointing to my cheek.

Amy, who was looking down at me, reached out with both hands and grabbed my face, starting to look at it from all angles.

    “Bug?”

    “Yes.”

Amy looked around my face, then down my neck.

“Looks like it got bitten on the inside too.”

    “Huh?”

    An unexpected bug attack.

Amy took some medicine out of the drawer and applied it to the lower part of her neck and face.

“That’s strange. It hasn’t been that long since we quarantined it. Did it come from outside?”

Amy, who was applying the medicine, muttered as if it was strange.

After I finished applying the ointment, I immediately changed my clothes and sat down next to Shine.

    “Please give me milk too.”

The best way to start the morning is with a glass of milk.

I gulped down the cold milk.
