Chapter Index

    “Misha, did you know…?”

The girl carrying a backpack smiles at me.

She was already waiting for me in front of the emergency elevator.

“04 told me that my sister has never been outside the lab-.”

Misha opens her eyes thinly and looks at me as if she’s piercing through me.

My whole body froze as if I was penetrated by her gaze.

“Why did you go into room 09 while lying to me?”

The blonde girl came up to me and circled me.

Then he suddenly stopped and looked up at me.

“Did you find what you were looking for there?”

    “…”

I had no answer to her firm question.

I just keep my lips tightly shut and think about how I can overcome this situation.

Misha, who saw me like that, stroked my hair with a gentle voice.

“Don’t worry. 09 doesn’t know that her sister went into the room.”

    “What did you say…?”

Could it be that Misha hid me from 09 on purpose?

The girl raised the corners of her lips at my shaking eyes.

    “You noticed now? That’s right.”

“09 and going straight to the lounge, and opening up lab 3 were all my intentions.”

Misha gently placed his hand on her chest.

“Rabbit room 3 was the only escape route other than the entrance.”

I looked at the girl with an expression that said I couldn’t understand her.

Why on earth did you open Lab 3 and show me everything?

“You don’t mind if I look into Lab 3?”

“Yes, there is no particular reason to hide it.”

    Misha shrugged at my question.

She grabbed a piece of rotten wood and squeezed it.

Then ants came up from between the trees and crawled around.

“What’s wrong with strengthening the injured?”

“All we do is take care of people who are hurt and can’t control themselves.”

    lie.

If you guys are really like that, then why the hell is my arm stuck to 09?

Why am I trapped in this body, and why is my sister trapped in that red glass case?

    His clenched fist trembles.

I want to grab her by the collar right now and tell her all the facts.

    And I will ask.

Why on earth did they do this to us?

Why did the association that protects Korea kill innocent low-level hunters!

    But it’s not time yet.

There is no way to change the future by questioning Misha in this defenseless state.

It would be better if he didn’t get caught and die.

I somehow managed to open my blocked throat.

    And then he mumbles quietly.

“That’s right… I guess I was mistaken because the atmosphere was so scary.”

    “Is that so?”

Misha was satisfied with my nodding appearance.

But her investigation didn’t end there.

She grabbed my shoulder to ask the most important question.

And then he pushed his face in.

“Then, can you explain why you entered room 09?”

Is it because I know my older sister is alive?

He didn’t lose his composure despite her persistent questions.

“I had a family. I just looked it up because 09 looked so much like the person who killed my family.”

    “So, 09 was the culprit?”

    Misha’s blue eyes sparkle.

She kept asking me questions as if she was listening to an interesting story.

“No. He didn’t have a tattoo on his neck.”

“Hmm-, then that’s definitely not it. 09 has had a tattoo on his neck since he was very young.”

Misha claps her hands as if the case has been solved.

She hugged me gently from behind and pressed her plump cheek against my back.

“I mean, I really like you, Unnie. I’ve been watching you from afar for a very long time.”

He keeps saying nonchalantly that he’s been watching me all this time.

I felt a chill down my spine, but I tried my best not to show it.

“It’s touching to see him living so diligently despite having no strength at all, like a pure comic book character.”

“That’s why I don’t want to lose my sister. I want to keep her by my side for the rest of my life.”

Her hand digs between my armpits.

And in that hand, there was a syringe with a needle attached to it.

The syringe is filled with a purple liquid of unknown composition.

Could it be the same substance that was in the glass case?

“If it were like before, I would have ‘poked’ this pointy thing into my sister’s neck.”

“And I would take my fallen sister to my room and cherish her for the rest of her life. Like a puppy.”

Misha’s round forehead rubs against my side.

I swallowed hard at the eerie sensation.

“But I want to give my older sister a chance.”

    “Opportunity…?”

    “Yes.”

She points down the mountain with her finger.

A two-lane road is visible through the dense trees.

“If you go down that way, you will come across a small town. Taxis pass by occasionally.”

I followed Misha’s fingers and stared at the road.

But soon my sight was completely obscured by her.

Because Misha stood in front of me and stared at me intently.

“If what we do offends you, just leave. We totally understand.”

“But if you want to work again, come back anytime.”

I stared at the syringe the girl was holding.

Are you giving me a choice?

Any normal person would run away from here immediately.

Like other employees who quit their research lab jobs.

    but.

How could I escape alone after seeing my sister like that?

Clearly these guys are up to something.

It is possible that my sister’s body will also be merged with 09.

I swallow deeply and look at the syringe Misha holds.

The sharp syringe and Misha’s obsession are so scary.

My arm attached to 09 is horrible, and the atmosphere in the gloomy lab is the worst.

I squatted down and got eye level with Misha.

And then he took his wary gaze away and smiled faintly.

“No, I’ll go to work tomorrow too.”

    “Really?”

“Yeah. It’s not like there’s anything wrong with the lab, right? On the contrary, I want to go there even more now that I know it’s a healthy place.”

“Thank you for understanding. Most of them run away…”

    “But the pay is good-.”

I made a ‘money sign’ gesture with my fingers to reassure the girl.

Misha shook her head quickly, seeming satisfied with what I said.

And then he hugged me tightly.

“But don’t ever put that syringe in me. Got it?”

    “Of course.”

Misha threw the syringe he was holding on the floor.

And then he buried his nose in my chest and took a deep breath.

    “I’m so happy.”

    “Yeah, I’m so happy too.”

    I hugged the child.

But my expression wasn’t happy at all.

Colder and more indifferent than ever.

Thanks to clearing up the misunderstanding with Misha, I was able to board the bus safely.

But when I got home, I didn’t head straight to the moment.

There was so much going on.

I don’t have the energy to meet someone, force a smile, and pour a drink.

    So I staggered straight home.

I finally climbed the stairs and stood in front of the front door.

Today, my house feels so unfamiliar.

It’s like the first day of ice skating.

The sight of my older sister at the lab brought back nightmares from my boyhood.

He fell limply to the floor and leaned against the edge of the bed.

    “Sister…”

The reason why I was able to endure until now.

After the ice age, the reason why he was able to survive various dangers.

It was all thanks to my older sister’s advice.

I can’t believe that my older sister is still trapped in a place like that…

    “What should I do…”

I buried my face in the bed.

    I just sobbed.

I can tolerate my arm being attached to 09.

But I can’t stand the sight of my sister not only being brutally murdered, but also having her body violated.

Still, there is nothing I can do for my sister.

    I’m still too weak.

Besides, there’s no one to help me.

    no one…

    “—.”

The clock on the moment bar is now pointing to 10 o’clock.

Siho, who said she would come right after work at the lab, is still nowhere to be seen.

The enemy flicked the lighter alone and eventually got up from the counter.

    “Are you going?”

    Ji-wook asks her carefully.

The enemy nodded without saying anything.

In her hand she holds a small box of cakes.

The enemy headed towards the newly selected Genesis, holding the cake carefully.

There’s no need to kill navigation or anything.

She drove without hesitation toward a familiar address.

The place we finally arrived at was a quiet apartment complex.

She walked leisurely up the stairs holding the cake.

But soon she had no choice but to stop walking.

Because the silhouette of a suspicious person was seen far away in the apartment hallway.

    “What, why are you here?”

The enemy asked the shadow in a cold voice.

Then the person hiding in the shadows reveals himself.

    Anna is not coming.

She stared blankly at the female officer with her hands in her pockets.

    “What are you doing here?”

Unlike her enemy who just got off work, Anna is dressed in casual clothes.

She used to wear only black clothes, but today she wore a simple gray tracksuit.

“Why did you come to see the poem?”

The enemy snickered when he saw Anna coming with bare hands.

And then she lifted up the cake box she had prepared.

“You didn’t come empty-handed, did you?”

    “Then it won’t work.”

Anna turned her head away cynically.

And I only look at the front door of Siho’s house.

“If Siho ignores your calls, he’s usually in a bad mood.”

The enemy passed Anna and stood in front of the doorway.

And then there’s a light knock on the door.

“And when you’re feeling down, sweets are the best.”

Anna’s lips twitch at the enemy’s provocation.

    She rummaged through her pockets.

But no matter how much he searched, all he found in his pockets was a dagger, a smoke bomb, and a small amount of poison.

I can hear faint footsteps inside the house.

Soon the front door opened slightly.

A little girl peeks her head out through the gap.

    “Who are you…?”

The two women looked at Siho and simultaneously raised their heads.

    “I haven’t heard from you…”

The two killers were speechless, as if offended by the fact that they had spoken at the same time.

And they glared at each other as if they were going to kill each other.

“I’m sorry… I was so tired that I just stayed home and rested.”

Siho opened the door with a bitter smile.

As moonlight pours in through the open door, the dark circles under Siho’s eyes come into view.

    “Are you okay?”

The enemy asked the little bartender cautiously.

    Siho clearly didn’t say anything.

However, the corners of her eyes, drooping weakly, clearly prove that something sad has happened.

    “…”

Siho gave no answer to that question.

I just look back and forth between the two women.

Soon, the little bartender’s eyes turn red.

At the sight of the two people, Siho’s body began to tremble as her emotions began to stir.

Soon she reached out to the enemy and Anna.

And at the same time, he hugged them tightly.

The two killers looked at each other, as if they were struck by the sight of Siho.

But soon, he silently patted Siho on the back.

The little girl sobbed softly in his arms.
