Episode 83: Don’t worry. He’s my boyfriend.

    The stormy Tuesday passed by.

Wednesday and Thursday were surprisingly uneventful.

    And then came Friday.

Hansein organized his bag after lunch.

“Why bother carrying my bag around when I don’t even study properly?” he thought, and nonchalantly put his bag in the locker.

“I have an extracurricular activity, so I’ll head home right away,” he said.

“Is that so?” replied Jeong Ayeong.

    “Yeah.”

Jeong Ayeong hesitated for a moment. She smiled reassuringly, as if to ease Hansein’s worries.

“It’s okay. Nothing bad will happen,” she said.

    “Yeah…”

    “Hansein.”

    “What?”

At that moment, a voice calling him from outside the classroom was heard.

It was none other than Kang Hyeon.

    “Let’s go,” he said.

“Yeah… See you later, Ayeong,” Hansein replied.

    “Uh, yeah…”

    Thud.

It was a strange mixture of a sigh and a thud, but essentially, it was a sigh.

Perhaps witnessing her boyfriend being taken away was quite shocking.

As Hansein got up from his seat and waved his hand, leaving with Kang Hyeon, Jeong Ayeong just stared blankly at the empty space he left behind.

    ***

    What is this?

    Why am I so nervous?

Kang Hyeon felt a strange sense of unease in the current situation, and he felt unfamiliar to himself.

“Where is the book cafe?” he asked.

    “Um… over there,” she replied.

    They walked side by side.

They weren’t kissing in the club room.

They weren’t touching each other’s bodies.

They weren’t indulging in lustful pleasures or seeking ejaculation.

They were just walking side by side.

But the tingling sense of happiness gradually grew as they walked together. Was it because it wasn’t just a simple walk?

“…because you’re my boyfriend,” she said.

    “Oh, um, yeah. Th-thank you…”

Their hands awkwardly held each other. It felt so hot that sweat started to form. Should they let go if it felt uncomfortable?

Various thoughts swirled in Kang Hyeon’s mind.

The sight of Hansein acting like a boyfriend, albeit casually, tickled his heart.

    His heartbeat quickened.

    “We’re here,” she said.

    “Yeah…”

    Ding.

As they climbed the stairs and opened the door to the book cafe, a bell rang.

    “Welcome.”

    “Hello~”

Formal greetings were exchanged as Kang Hyeon and Hansein stood in front of the counter.

Above them, on a board resembling a menu, the hourly rates were written.

    Kang Hyeon hesitated.

She tried to act cool, but she was also going on a date with a guy for the first time.

As she pondered what to choose…

“A couple set for one hour, please,” Kang Hyeon said.

“Sure, that’ll be 2800 won. Would you like any drinks?”

“I’ll have an iced tea, and Hyuna, what about you?” Hansein asked.

    “Um… I’ll have an iced Americano…”

    “Alright, please give us that.”

Thank you for the cool transaction.

The staff seemed to appreciate the quick decision as they accepted the card.

Despite the fact that some couples waste time being overly affectionate, they were grateful it wasn’t like that.

    “Let’s go,” she said.

    “Yeah…”

    Couple.

    Boyfriend…

Kang Hyeon blushed at the words that came out of Hansein’s mouth.

It felt like a scene from a novel.

The things she had dreamed of for so long had become reality, making her incredibly happy.

Even if emptiness and disappointment followed afterwards, the brief happiness from the date was sweet in itself.

“What are you going to read?” she asked.

    “I’ll read this.”

    “Then I’ll read this.”

    They quickly made their choices.

Since they only had an hour, they grabbed their drinks and found a place to read.

“Let’s go over there,” she said.

    “Over there?”

    “Yeah. Don’t you like it?”

    “No.”

    Kang Hyeon swallowed nervously.

She had sworn not to do anything inappropriate.

But in that narrow space that looked like a burrow…

It was a perfect place for a man and a woman to enter.

Uncomfortable for reading, but good for cuddling.

Even if you didn’t want to stick together, you had no choice but to stick together while reading a book.

    Such a limited space.

With drinks and books in hand, they entered the narrow space.

    “Ugh.”

    “I won’t do anything inappropriate.”

    “I won’t…!”

Due to the nature of the book cafe, she couldn’t scream, but she did her best to deny it.

Han Se-in looked indifferently at the touch on her body.

Embarrassed and awkward, she was flustered by his gaze.

    “Let’s read.”

    “Uh, okay.”

Side by side, they lay down.

    Elbows, sides, feet.

Reading the book, occasionally touching each other’s bodies.

The sound of breathing next to her was clear, and the occasional gaze that looked at her like a lover was so enchanting.

    “What, what are you doing?”

    “I’m moving your hair.”

    Kang Hyeon-ah closed her mouth.

Surprised, she didn’t say anything, but she held her breath at the casual act of moving her hair behind her ear.

“Because you’re my boyfriend. I’m just doing what boyfriends do.”

    “Uh, okay…”

Embarrassed, Kang Hyeon-ah felt awkward and embarrassed by her own clumsiness.

    Just like that.

No matter what emotions they felt, time passed.

Just like turning the pages of a book.

    The date continued.

“Hehe! Hmm… Is the next one a movie?”

    “Yeah. I’ve booked it.”

    “Where is it?”

    “Cheongdam.”

    “Isn’t it expensive…?”

“It’s covered by the club fee.”

It was a school with a lot of money.

    That one sentence explained everything.

Since transportation costs were also covered by the club fee, Han Se-in could take a taxi without saying anything.

They headed to one of the well-off neighborhoods in South Korea for their date.

The reservation time was 2 o’clock.

They could arrive at the cinema without being late.

    “What, where are we going?”

    “This way.”

    “Private…?”

Reading English, Han Se-in followed Kang Hyeon-ah.

Showing the ticket, they followed the staff’s guidance.

    The door opened.

    “Wow…”

    “How is it?”

“Is there really a movie theater like this?”

    Literally.

    There was a luxurious space.

    A space for lovers, perhaps?

The front was made of transparent glass, allowing a view of the inside of the cinema and the screen.

The furniture that looked like a bed was made of soft and luxurious material.

You could even adjust the angle with a switch!

Like a puppy sniffing around here and there, they started exploring the room-shaped special theater.

    “Pfft.”

    Their appearance was so cute.

Even though they were dry and indifferent at the book cafe.

Han Se-in’s smiling and amazed expression… was so lovely.

She wanted to make him a little happier.

Even though she wasn’t his girlfriend.

Already, she had committed too many sins against him.

“Wow… Wow! Isn’t this expensive? It’s so amazing.”

“It’s not as expensive as you think.”

“The movie is about to start?! Let’s sit down quickly.”

    Childlike and cheerful smile.

The seats were so large that they were perfect for a couple.

Sitting down, she started hitting her side.

With a proud heart, Kang Hyeon-ah sat down next to her.

    “The movie is starting.”

    “Yeah.”

    “But what movie is it?”

    “I heard it’s based on a novel.”

    “I see.”

    Nodding, Han Se-in.

    At that moment.

After the ads ended, characters moving tires were guiding movie etiquette on the screen.

    A few moments later.

All the lights went out, and a black screen appeared.

A creepy sound that you wouldn’t hear in a typical movie.

    “This, this…”

    A whispered voice.

    It was Han Se-in’s.

    [Scream!!]

A sudden jump scare from the beginning.

    Of course, the audience screamed.

    “It’s, it’s a horror movie…!!”

    “Haha…”

    In fact, she already knew.

However, isn’t a movie date the epitome of romance?

Especially when it’s a horror movie.

    The movie continued.

Beneath the intriguing story, there were tense directing and occasional jump scares.

    “Ugh, ugh… huuu…”

    Shivering.

At the sight of a scary scene about to unfold, one would close their eyes tightly and start trembling while lying down.

At that moment when such a realistic reaction occurred, a sense of apology would flow.

    *Bam!*

Suddenly, a monster appeared and the audience screamed in terror.

Even though their eyes were tightly shut, their ears were still wide open.

Perhaps they were even more surprised by closing their eyes.

Han Se-in, who was simply lying down and trembling,…

    “Huuh, huaaa. Hye, Hyun-ah.”

    “……”

“Hey, are you next to me? Hey, are you next to me…?! Say something…!”

How scary must it have been for the dialect to come out and the pronunciation to become so strong.

Their appearance was so cute that a smile crept up.

Even though it was impossible for Kang Hyun-ah not to be there,

Han Se-in, in fear, felt around for her next to him.

    “Pl-please… say something.”

    “Sorry.”

    Huu.

A body and voice trembling with anxiety.

Their gaze facing forward, watching the movie, yet Han Se-in’s arm tightly wrapped around Kang Hyun-ah’s right arm.

    With arms crossed.

As scary scenes unfolded, they huddled closer.

The trembling body and the warmth that drew closer with each climax were comforting.

    The unstable breathing.

    As it reached the climax,

Han Se-in completely leaned into Kang Hyun-ah’s body.

The sensation felt good, and the feeling of completely relying on oneself was so pleasant.

    A truly contrasting situation.

Han Se-in was trembling, while Kang Hyun-ah was smiling.

It was definitely a horror movie, yet she was smiling.

    After the movie ended.

It must have been around 4 o’clock.

The two who came out of the theater bit their lips.

Certainly, it was a crowded neighborhood, but there wasn’t a single person in sight.

One might think a disaster had occurred.

    -Boom!!

The rain was pouring down to the point where it might hurt if it hit.

It was more than just a shower.

    They didn’t expect rain.

An emergency alert they received an hour ago was informing them.

    They didn’t have an umbrella.

    What should they do?

    Kang Hyun-ah, looking outside, whispered.

A statement that could ruin a good day.

“I’m fine… Are you okay with this?”

    “What do you mean?”

“It’ll take about 2 hours to get to your place.”

    A moment of silence.

Kang Hyun-ah flinched at Han Se-in’s piercing gaze.

It was a statement that made her heart sink.

    “How do you know?”

    “What…?”

“You’ve never been to my house. How do you know it’ll take 2 hours?”

Kang Hyun-ah’s lips were tightly sealed.

The raindrops continued to pour down.
